“Does he always do that?” Betty asked as her and Veronica watched out y/n’s bedroom window. They were currently having a sleepover but Archie and some of the Bulldogs were playing football out in the street.
“Yup.” Y/n let out a frustrated sigh as she pulled her hair up into a ponytail.
“Wow, Archie Andrews being a show off.” Veronica said amused as she to watched the redheaded boy.
“He never stops.” Y/n stated shaking her head as she glanced out the window for a second.
“Do you know why?” Betty questioned moving to sit across from y/n on the bed.
“I think he likes me, but if he knew anything about me. He wouldn’t.” She told them shaking her head. It had been going on for months at this point.
“Why do you say that?” Veronica tilted her head at Y/n’s statement. Confused about what she meant by it.
“I’m a Serpent Veronica. Archie hates the Serpents. And besides, I’m dating Sweet Pea.” Y/n shrugged and gave them a tight lipped smile, but it became real at the mention of Sweet Pea.
“I will say I love Archie and he’s a good guy but, Sweet Pea treats you like a princess.” Betty smiled at Y/n. Betty had known Archie forever but she had firsthand witnessed how Sweet Pea treats her friend in their relationship. And even Betty didn’t think Archie could treat her that good.
“Correction. He treats you like a Queen.” Veronica smiled coming around to sit on the bed with the both of them.
Y/n smiled widely at their comments. “Plus with all the beef going on between the bulldogs and the Serpents. It’d be worse once he knew FP treats me like a daughter.”
“FP treats you better than my father treats me.” Veronica admitted letting out a sigh that had frustration and sadness in it.
“Sorry V.” Betty rubbed her friend's upper arm.
“No worries. Hey, do you think FP could honorarly adopt me too?” Veronica asked y/n jokingly.
“I mean if you ask.” Y/n shrugged her shoulders but they all started laughing, not being able to hold it anymore.
It was only a week later at a game for the school that the girls along with y/n and Toni noticed Archie doing it again. Watching.
“He’s doing it again.” Veronica noted nudging the y/h/c-ed girl scooted next to her on the bleachers.
“This is just sad to watch.” Betty said watching the boy she grew up with, with squinted eyes.
“Sweet Pea’s going to be here soon. And for the record this is fun to watch.” Toni interjected as she sat down next to them. She found Archies actions to be quite entertaining much like Veronica but for different reasons.
“Once he sees the back of my jacket he’ll stop.” Y/n nodded, taking a hand full of popcorn from Toni. Y/n made sure to wear her Serpents jacket tonight. This needed to stop.
“Hey, babe.” Sweet Pea greeted kissing her on the cheek. Toni scooted over fromY/n so Sweet Pea could sit down next to her.
“Hey.” Y/n greeted Sweet Pea before he could sit down she stood to hug him, making sure her jacket faced the field as she did so.
“And he noticed.” Betty pointed out as the couple sat down.
“Wow.” Veronica shook her head with wide eyes. “Men.” she scoffed, as they all watched the attraction Archie had to Y/n leave him as he saw her jacket.
“What are they talking about?” Sweet Pea asked leaning in to whisper in Y/n’s ear.
“Nothing.” Y/n answered but she could tell he didn’t believe it. So Y/n turned a tiny bit to face him with her body, grabbing his hand bringing it to her lips. “Trust me Pea. If it was something worth telling, I’d tell you.”
“She would.” Betty stated in agreement.
Toni knew problems would only get worse if Sweet Pea knew exactly what they were talking about. “You or FP would be the first to know.”
And it was true but let's just hope Archie had the sense to not ever bring it up.

Can you do a Veronica lodge x Fem reader where y/n just found out she was Archie Andrews secret twin sister and she lives in cali with her mom so her mom and y/n go to meet Archie and then Veronica catches y/ns eye and y/n catches Veronica’s eye
"So, did you ever feel like you were missing something? You know, the twin connection thing?" Archie asked, staring across the table at you as he stirred his chocolate shake. Despite the fact that Pop's was packed tonight, nothing could distract him from studying your face. Despite being fraternal twins, he could see so much of himself in your features it was almost unnerving.
"I don't know. I mean, I get random pains every so often, so maybe that was you boxing this whole time? If so, we're going to have to revisit that," you joked. The nerves that had twisted your stomach in knots the entire trip from San Diego to Riverdale had disappeared practically the moment you and Archie met. Maybe it was the twin connection thing he mentioned, cause the two of you didn't have much in common in terms of hobbies.
You didn't catch what Archie said next, as an alluring figure sauntered through the entrance to the diner your newfound brother had insisted you visit. He noticed eventually that your eyes were no longer fixated on him and turned around to see what had distracted you so suddenly.
"Wow, we really are twins," he sighed in disbelief as he turned back around in the booth. "That is Veronica Lodge and believe it or not, I had almost the exact same reaction in the exact booth we're sitting in back in high school."
You finally managed to break your gaze away and bowed your head in disappointment.
"I just met you and we're already about to have our first fight."
"Relax" Archie chuckled, reaching for his milkshake again as you lifted your head. "She and I are old news. We can save the first fight for something bigger."
"In that case, care to introduce me?" You arched an eyebrow at him and then grinned as he started to slide himself out of the booth. A new rush of nerves hit your stomach as he crossed the diner to catch the brunette's attention and wave her over. This trip to Riverdale was already paying off, in more ways than one.
"Veronica, this is my twin sister, Y/N. There's quite a backstory there, as you can probably imagine. Y/N, this is-"
"Veronica Lodge," she interrupted your brother and outstretched her hand to shake yours. "It's very nice to meet you."
"Y/N is actually in town for a couple of days...I have some stuff to take care of tomorrow so she could probably use someone to show her around. Know anyone, Ronnie?"
You shot Archie a glance and made a mental note that subtlety was not one of his strong suits. Nevertheless, it paid off quickly and you couldn't knock him for that.
"I may know someone. Y/N, meet me here around 1 tomorrow for your official Riverdale tour."

Okay. For real this time. I have found the most unbelievable, the most ridiculous, the most unlikely thing to happen twice in The Man From R.I.V.E.R.D.A.L.E. canon.
Starch-stiff snakes.
Twice.
I have officially seen it all.
#those poor snakes#other than the casual animal abuse I have no problem with the fact that they reused this bit#because it was funny the first time in its bizzare contrived nature#and the fact that’s it’s happened twice is even CRAZIER#which in my opinion makes it even FUNNIER#(especially because A.R.C.H.I.E. doesn’t seem to *realize* that this is a repeat tactic)#(how do you *forget* using a live snake as a battering ram??)#look nobody’s coming to these comics for deep writing or tightly woven plotlines#tons of stuff is way too convenient or makes no sense. that’s half the fun. you just have to let go and enjoy the randomness of it all.#you know the good guys are going to win in the end. but you have no idea *how.*#and whatever you’re imagining isn’t half as weird as the truth#archie comics#archie andrews#jughead jones#veronica lodge#reggie mantle#the man from r.i.v.e.r.d.a.l.e.

Cross My Heart
After discovering that Veronica’s father, Hiram Lodge, was behind your dad’s business shutdown, you confront Veronica, heartbroken by her silence. In a moment of raw honesty, Veronica reveals her feelings for you, leading to a bittersweet kiss that bridges the pain and love between you both.
Veronica Lodge x Reader
Warning: fluff, kissing
You’d been running on adrenaline and a gnawing ache in your chest for days, ever since the news broke that your dad’s small business was facing an abrupt shutdown. He’d poured his entire life into that shop, and it felt like your whole world was crumbling as you watched the lights flicker off one last time.
It didn’t make any sense, not until you did some digging of your own. The papers you’d found hidden in a file marked “Anonymous Buyer” painted a far darker picture, revealing a name that sent a chill down your spine: Hiram Lodge. You’d spent enough time with Veronica to know just what that name meant—power, wealth, and ruthless ambition. And that’s why, as you pushed open the doors to her apartment, you felt the sharp sting of betrayal cutting deep.
Veronica looked up from the couch, her face lighting up briefly before she saw the expression in your eyes. “Hey, what’s wrong?” she asked, standing up, but you held your hand out, stopping her.
“Don’t.” Your voice cracked, your hands shaking as you gripped the papers you’d brought with you. “How long have you known? About your father buying up all the properties, about him shutting down my dad’s business?”
A flash of recognition crossed her face, and she sighed, rubbing her temple. “I was going to tell you,” she started, but the hollow sound of her words only made your heart ache more.
“When, Veronica?” you demanded, voice trembling. “After it was too late? After he’d bulldozed everything we’ve worked for?”
Her eyes softened, but there was a trace of guilt in them too. “I… I was trying to protect you,” she admitted. “My father isn’t someone you can just go up against. If you knew, you’d try to stop him, and… and he’ll crush anyone who gets in his way.”
You felt a bitter laugh escape your lips, the kind that was more pain than humor. “You didn’t think I deserved to know the truth?” you whispered. “I thought you… I thought you cared about me, Veronica. But it seems like I was just another person you didn’t think could handle it.”
She flinched, her carefully composed mask breaking for the first time as she looked away, her voice barely a murmur. “I didn’t want you to get hurt. And I thought… I thought maybe if you didn’t know, you wouldn’t be pulled into this mess. My dad… he doesn’t care who he hurts. You don’t know what he’s capable of.”
You shook your head, a tear slipping down your cheek. “Then why not stand up to him? Why not help me?”
“I wanted to.” Veronica’s voice cracked, her dark eyes meeting yours, pleading. “I tried… but I know him. He’d only go after you and your dad even harder if he knew I was involved. I couldn’t bear to watch you suffer because of me. But God, I’m sorry. I am so, so sorry.”
There was a raw vulnerability in her voice that pulled at you, but the ache in your chest refused to let go. “Why didn’t you tell me any of this?” you asked softly, trying to understand, despite the anger burning in your veins.
She reached out, hesitating before she took your hand gently, her fingers brushing yours like she was afraid you might pull away. “Because I care about you. Because… I couldn’t bear the thought of you getting hurt because of me.”
You swallowed, her words hitting deeper than you’d expected. The anger was there, but beneath it, something else—a soft, fragile longing you’d tried to ignore for months. “Veronica, I… I needed you to be honest with me. I needed you, more than anything, and you kept me in the dark.”
She stepped closer, her gaze intense, filled with a desperation that mirrored your own. “I know,” she whispered, her voice breaking, “and that’s the last thing I wanted. I thought I was protecting you. But maybe… maybe I was just protecting myself from losing you.”
You looked into her eyes, seeing the pain, the regret, but also something else—something warmer, something real. Before you could think it through, you felt yourself leaning into her touch, her hand still holding yours, grounding you. “You’re not going to lose me, Veronica. I’m just… I’m really hurt.”
“I know,” she murmured, her breath close, her lips a whisper away from yours. “And I’ll do whatever it takes to make it up to you. But I didn’t tell you the truth because I care about what you think of me. It’s selfish, but I didn’t want you to think I was like him… a reflection of him. Your opinion matters more to me than anyone because… because I like you. And I couldn’t stand the thought of you getting hurt because of me.”
The world faded around you, your breath hitching as her words settled into the air between you. It was reckless, painful, and so much more than you’d ever expected. And despite everything, the hurt and betrayal, you felt your heart pulling toward her. You prayed what she said was real, but you couldn’t be sure if you were dreaming.
“Please say something and stop staring me like I just got mud on your new Prada shoes.” Her grip on your hand tightened and it took her words for you to realize you had left her in silence.
“You… like me? Like, like me, like me?” A nervous smile appeared on her face.
“Just let me down easy if-“
You don’t know what took over you, but you closed the space between you, your lips finding hers in a kiss that was raw and full of the unspoken, tangled emotions between you. Veronica’s hands cupped your face, pulling you close, her touch a silent promise—a promise that this was real, that despite everything, you were hers, and she was yours. When you finally pulled back, the pain was still there, but it felt just a little lighter, a little easier to bear, knowing that this connection, however fragile, was yours to hold on to.
“So, does that mean you like me too? And hopefully I’m forgiven?” She smiled, her forehead resting on yours.
“I’ve liked you for a long time. I think that’s why I was so hurt… am hurt. I forgive you, but that doesn’t mean I’m not still upset. Ronnie, I need you to be honest with me, about everything. Especially if this is… us, is more than just friends.” She tucked a strand of hair behind your ears as she admired you.
“I swear, from now on, no more secrets. No more lies. Cross my heart.” You smiled and brushed your lips against hers.
“So, does this mean you’re my girlfriend?” You asked.
“Only if that means we can make out now?” You laughed, then looked to the side in playful thought, tapping your index finger on your chin.
“It’s a deal, Veronica Lodge.”

Pairing: Veronica Lodge x reader
Halloween Event
Halloween Masterlist
You were sitting at a table in Pops with Archie, Jughead and Betty whilst Veronica ordered.
"This is my favourite time of year. The leaves are falling from the trees, the air is getting colder and the nights are getting cosier. What could be better than that?"
"Pumpkin spice latte, anyone?" You all jumped out of your skin when Veronica suddenly appeared at the table. "Jesus, Ronnie, seriously. Give us some warning next time, would ya?" Jughead held onto his chest as Archie chuckled from beside you.
"Never mind. This is my favourite thing to come out of this season. Thanks babe." You kissed Veronica on the cheek as she slid in the seat beside you, passing piping hot cups all round.
You took a sip of your latte and instantly melted into the seat. "This. Is. Just. Amazing." Sighs of contentment followed as everyone took sips of their lattes.
You smiled as you watched your girlfriend and best friends laugh and chat with each other. This is the way that you always wanted to spend the early autumn, surrounded by the people who are most special and closest to you. It made the season so much more special to you.

OO! I know! I know! It's because he respects her and she respects him! She gives him an offer 60/40 her way. And they both know it's a test. It's not certain if he knows that if he countered with a 60/40 split in his favor of she'd say yes (she would); but, him saying 50/50 means that they are on an even playing field. Neither is more important than the other. It's saying that she wouldn't have an act without him and he couldn't perform without her. Ever since the pilot, even though they looked like opposites, they were always equals and they both knew it.

just started watching Upgraded (2024) because i saw Camila Mendes was in it and, love the opening, very funny gag, that is clearly a cross section of an image of the Earth's crust overlaid with a black and white symbol representating where life can and cannot exist, but, more importantly, i cannot believe Camila has to act across somebody who is playing a character named "Ronnie". because now all i'm imagining is Camila Mendes talking to herself. it's just Veronica Lodge sitting across from her at this point.

Ultimate Incest Tournament - Round 1
Propaganda under the cut:
Roman/Shiv:
Extremely close and surprisingly caring with each other despite being terrible people, they joke about being happy they're not conjoined twins - which built the theory they might be twins, and also joke the sister (Shiv) might be pregnant with the brother's (Roman's) baby
They had a physical fight which left them on the floor (they're both in their thirties)and the scene's script described as such an intimate moment it was almost like they were caught fucking
Fr Rome is already fucked up on his own, and incest is a huge theme in Succession and I just love the way they love
Their expression of love for each other are undoubted even as the show makes it clear their family of terrible people only looks out for themselves.
Hiram/Veronica:
The show has many interesting incestuous possibilities, but Veronica/Hiram is perhaps the closest to canon along with Cheryl/Jason. The intimacy between Veronica and Hiram striking; their power games have a distinct sexual element. It's a sad relationship, but fascinating
The whole show is just a constant power struggle between the two. All of Veronicas actions and desires revolve around defying her father. Meanwhile all of his actions revolve around pleasing her but only the ideal her he imagines, daddys little girl.
Mob father and mob daughters/heir made in his image, she keeps calling him Daddy constantly
She sings "Daddy Lessons" while her father boxes against her boyfriend in a competition for her love. He hates her boyfriend because he's so possessive over her including giving her a literal pearl necklace to show ownership. The sexual tension between them is insane

In 80-ish years of comics, I’m 100% sure that a body-swap plot has happened before. Probably several times. Here’s my take on it.
(It does occur to me that Sabrina could also be responsible for this sort of thing. Magic or science, take your pick. Science is unexplained and limitless enough in their world that it may as well be magic. Don’t tell Dilton I said that.)
#[insert some logical reason why they have to pretend to be each other instead of just explaining things to everyone from the start]#archie comics#jughead jones#veronica lodge#archie andrews#betty cooper#dilton doiley#my art#I can’t exactly call this an archie ‘alternate universe’ because this could totally happen in their normal universe#man their lives are weird#see these two are the best to swap because they are such polar opposites in so many ways#and they both refuse to even try to act like the other#can you imagine though if veronica DID have to try to choke down three burgers in a row just to throw off suspicion?#no! a stylish and refined person such as herself would never gobble up mounds of fast food in such an uncouth manner!! :o#though this would serve as an interesting experiment to determine if jug’s iron stomach truly is a biological trait or simply a mindset#if swapped!veronca really put her mind to it COULD she match jug’s eating ability??#or would that great power remain with jug even in a completely different body?#these are serious important questions people. definitely.

Halloween Film: Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)
I always loved the ending of the 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the classic sci fi film about replicant humans being grown from strange alien plant pods and taking over society. Well, I loved what was the ending, before the nervous studio tacked on a prologue and epilogue giving the film an optimistic (and contrived) conclusion. You know, where the main character runs out onto the road, desperately trying to halt oncoming traffic, to get anyone to listen as he cries, into the night, and finally directly into the camera at the audience, "They're here! You're next! YOU'RE NEXT!" For all the film's been interpreted as expressing red scare paranoia about communist infiltration (and even that's contested--others see it as a cry against McCarthyite witch hunts), the sheer manic shrieking energy of that finale lodged itself in my brain ever since I watched the film as a teenager. It was fearful, but it also was relatable, almost a kind of perverse power fantasy. Imagine, just imagine, screaming out from every theater screen and tv set: don't you see what's happening all around you? Look away from the screen if you like--they're already here!
The 1978 remake is actually a weird kind of precursor to our new phenomenon of the rebootquel: a short ways into the film, the main character of the original (literally--it's Kevin McCarthy, the original's star) slams into the car of our protagonists, ranting that blood curdling monologue. In this version, however, the pod people swiftly dispatch him off screen, and we get a creepy shot of a crowd of them standing silently, dispassionately, over his bloody broken body. That sums up the film's sense, contra the original, that it will already be too late by the time anyone notices anything wrong.
What a creepy film this is. It's astonishingly shot, full of striking images and brilliant camera work. Like, if you want reflections and shadows and distorted views of characters to feel fresh again, like they're more than hackneyed metaphor but really, viscerally unsettling, this is the film for you. There's a pervasive sense throughout that the worst has already happened, the world already gone strange when you turned your back. Instead of zombified mania and violence, there's a flatness to everything, a cool impassivity. The cast enhances this impassive flatness through contrast: it's a film full of brilliant weirdos as heroes. Scope Jeff Goldblum in this, for example, as a self absorbed neurotic owner of a mud bath house, and Veronica Cartwright as his Star Child wife. Even the relatively well adjusted main couple has their oddities: early in the film Brooke Adams as Elizabeth has a moment where she does this, fuckin, crazy thing with her eyes to make her friend Matthew laugh that's genuinely very funny and unsettling, and it immediately lends her character so much off beat humanity. These are people who have dedicated their lives to the department of health and they've got the zealotry that comes from being genuinely a bit of a weirdo for both bureaucracy and science. Indeed, Elizabeth's husband gets replaced early in the film by a pod she brings home to study out of pure curiosity about the world.
Elizabeth, soon after realizing there is something fundamentally wrong and alien about her husband, remarks to Michael that San Francisco feels suddenly strange to her, like an alien environment full of alien people. I feel this sometimes in Seattle. Oh, everywhere, but pronouncedly here, interacting with boomer or gen xer artists in my area who casually talk about the homeless like they're subhuman, with people on the street who will freely monologue about who we need to cleanse from the city, with our repulsive mayor and city council who verifiably think I and queers like me are disgusting. You get to thinking, or at least I do, that surely people don't have that much cruelty in their heart, and then you run up against the flat casual way a stranger will condemn a fellow human to oblivion, simply for the crime of being an unpleasant reminder of poverty. Every supposed red line gets crossed--local leaders pump money into already bloated police budgets, people shed their masks, politicians race to be the most xenophobic and border-paranoid, and the state department and media shovel dirt on the fire of each exploded Gazan hospital or butchered aid convoy. Am I supposed to feel secure in this tough new environment? All I hear is the panicked cry: YOU'RE IN DANGER! YOU'RE NEXT!
Donald Sutherland's character Matthew has a belief in institutions that's at once charming and completely exasperating. He's a health inspector who clearly cares deeply about doing his job and doing it well, and so is almost totally unequipped to respond when every social system transforms into a weapon to hunt and replace him. The number of times this man calls the police, often seemingly out of civic duty!! Meanwhile Leonard Nimoy plays a psychiatrist who manipulates and shepherds the cast. He's a pod person, of course, but it's totally unclear whether he was one the whole time or became one late in the film. The suggestion seems to be that it doesn't matter: his role as a professional is to smooth over social ruptures and keep the state of things running as stress free as possible, so he seamlessly adopts his role in the new dispassionate world order. I can't stop thinking, too, about a scene where Matthew and Elizabeth are caught out pretending to be pod people because they react with terrified revulsion to a homeless man who's accidentally been grotesquely fused with his pet dog. The pod people, of course, do not react to this sight, but go about their business. All that seems to have changed in pod person world is that the whole machinery of society carries on without emotion or meaning. The horror is that instead of ending, the world just keeps going.
Sarah and I discovered after watching that there's two other takes on The Body Snatchers, one in the 90s and one late in the Bush era 2000s. I guess that means we're about due for a new generational interpretation of the story. It's not quite like clockwork; maybe it's more like a seasonal bloom. Every 10-20 years, someone feels a compulsion to run to the cinemas and shout, to anyone who will listen, that they're already here, the pod people have already taken over while we were sleeping. And maybe they already have.
