“Džuvljarke (*Ȝuvlӑrke) – is a term from the Roma language (Romani) and used among Roma living in Serbia. Together with its Serbian-influenced suffix, it is used to refer to a lesbian, a woman emotionally and sexually oriented towards women. This term usually implies a negative connotation, particularly within the heteronormative patriarchal Serbian and Romani social matrix.”

Splendida cornice di pubblico per l’anticipo di serie A tra Atalanta e Sassuolo. Più che la bella giornata primaverile è senz’altro la cavalcata degli orobici ad attirare al Brumana quelli che alla fine saranno 18.209 spettatori, cioè le presenze che più o meno sono registrate nelle partite con le più blasonate Roma, Napoli ed Inter.

La curva nord ha organizzato una coreografia in memoria di Yara Gambirasio, la cui triste vicenda penso sia nota a tutti. Altrettanto noto, penso, il fatto che questo momento arriva con quasi un anno di ritardo: era già tutto pronto per la partita Atalanta-Chievo dello scorso campionato, ma poi si mise di mezzo l’Osservatorio Manifestazioni Sportive con divieti e restrizioni assurde ed i tifosi decisero, loro malgrado, di rimandarlo. Oggi fila tutto liscio e fuori lo stadio si continuerà, dopo la partita, a ricordare la giovane bergamasca ed a sostenere l’Associazione che i genitori hanno costituito in suo nome.

A distanza di circa un mese dalla partita con la Fiorentina, mi pare di percepire inizialmente un’atmosfera più rilassata nei confronti degli undici orobici in campo. Nemmeno il tempo di pensarlo che la Nord chiama “tutto lo stadio” ad accodarsi al coro “portaci in Europa”, al quale farà poi seguito un “Vinci per noi magica Atalanta” che si protrae per svariati minuti. Quando l’incitamento sembra sul punto di spegnersi arriva la prima occasione goal (protagonista il capitano Gomez) che ridà fiato ai polmoni ed il coro riparte con vigore. È un buon momento per gli uomini di Gasperini: prima Petagna impegna l’ex di turno Consigli, poi il Papu colpisce il palo a portiere battuto, ma il risultato non si sblocca.

Anzi, arriva una vera e propria doccia fredda al minuto 36 quando Pellegrini approfitta di un errore di Caldara a metà campo e si invola solitario verso la porta avversaria: Berisha, pur bravo pochi minuti prima a sventare una punizione da fuori area sporcata da una deviazione della barriera, può fare davvero poco ed è costretto a raccogliere il pallone finito in fondo al sacco. Superfluo forse dire, vista la presenza numerica ridotta ai minimi termini, che dell’esultanza dei tifosi ospiti non arriva nemmeno un’eco lontana.

L’Atalanta incassa il colpo e non riesce a reagire in modo efficace, ma quando i giocatori si infilano negli spogliatoi la curva non risparmia il più classico dei “Forza Ragazzi”.

Nell’intervallo Gasperini sostituisce Grassi per Spinazzola è l’avvio di secondo tempo vede un approccio decisamente più pimpante. L’arbitro non punisce l’evidente trattenuta che impedisce a Masiello, sempre pronto ad infilarsi sul secondo palo nei tiri da fermo, di arrivare sul pallone e il Brumana s’incazza parecchio, anche perché gli avversari appena possono perdono tempo in manfrine piuttosto plateali.

Finiti i mugugni si alza forte il “Devi sempre solo vincere” che è un po’ il cavallo di battaglia della Nord in questo campionato. Kurtic esce per fare posto a D’Alessandro e la Dea continua a premere, collezionando un corner dopo l’altro. Al 20° il Sassuolo spreca invece l’occasione del raddoppio, con Ragusa che conclude a fior di palo una veloce azione di rimessa.

La Nord, o meglio il solito zoccolo duro a centro curva, tira un po’ il fiato e, per converso, registrano un buon momento i Forever Atalanta: i loro bandieroni, già in frequente movimento, ora sventolano sulle note di “Pinocchio”, evergreen delle top ten ultras anni novanta.

Tenta e ritenta, il pareggio alla fine arriva: punizione dalla sinistra di Gomez e sulla traiettoria si inserisce Cristante che spizzica di testa quel tanto che basta. Il Comunale si accende, compresa qualche torcia usata di straforo, e potrebbe incendiarsi del tutto se appena un minuto dopo arrivasse il raddoppio, ma per questione di pochi centimetri il pallone si perde sul fondocampo.

Ci saranno altre due buone occasioni, prima con Caldara e poi con D’Alessandro, e cinque abbondanti minuti di recupero, ma il risultato non si schioda e l’Atalanta perde una buona opportunità per tenere a distanza gli altri contendenti dell’Europa League.

I very respectfully disagree with you. From what I get from your bio you are British Romany. As I said, British Roma represent a very tiny proportion of Roma people who mixed with white populations. That’s an exception, not the rule. The overwhelming majority of Roma people who live in Europe are visibly brown. That’s why we have suffered from genocides and slavery and why we still suffer from police brutality, segregation, pogroms and ghettos in many different European countries (be it France, Spain, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia and so on). There’s only one name for that and it’s racism. And Roma people are factually the most hated race in Europe right now and one of its most impoverished demographic. That’s why romani feminist and anti-racist scholars like Angéla Koczé, Alexandra Oprea, Vera Kurtic, and Ioanida Costache always refer to Roma people as a race or racialized minority. Because not being white is essential to understanding our position in Europe, even more so for Roma women as women of colour.

I also think representation bias is at play here. 80% of European Roma are at risk of living in poverty and a lot of them are barred from accessing education, so the Roma we see on english social medias are more often than not from the UK or the US, meanwhile the darker skinned Roma people living in the Balkans, Eastern Europe, or in poor parts of Spain and France are considerably under represented, sidelined and erased and as white passing romnia we need to stand in solidarity with them instead of denying the fact that we are a racialized group suffering from intense racism in Europe

I just wanted to clarify that Romani are not necessarily poc.

i mean some can be white passing for sure and romani overall tend to have significant european DNA due to being in europe for centuries, but considering how they’re perceived and treated in europe… i don’t see any evidence they’re ever accepted as white, even if in some cases they can technically be ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
