You can purchase VEGAS Pro 16 or view more details on it and the VEGAS family at Vegas Creative Software. If you are still using an older version of VEGAS or Sony Vegas, there are several significant updates that have been included in the past few versions of VEGAS. However, for some editors the difference between Pro 15 and Pro 16 may not be worth the upgrade.

VEGAS Pro 16 definitely includes some much requested features and some that would encourage me to upgrade personally. It’s hard to answer, because it’s quite subjective. This question is asked a lot, especially on our YouTube videos. Some of these features include new extensive file backup options, automatic subtitle creation from timeline regions, High DPI scaling, inclusion of MAGIX eFX audio plug-in suite and more. Some of the smaller headline features may be more exciting to some users than other. High Dynamic Range (HDR) color support allows you to work with footage from cameras capable of shooting HDR. This streamlining has been done by adding a dynamic storyboard workflow that syncs changes between the main storyboard and the classic timeline and vice versa. One of the bigger selling points from MAGIX for VEGAS Pro 16 has been about “streamlining the workflow”. Pro 16 will include templates for the most popular 360° cameras for video stitching and editing.Storyboard mode This could be due to the difficulty in both filming and editing 360° video. However, there hasn’t been a huge explosion in 360° videos being released in the mainstream. There’s no doubt that 360° video has brought a new experience to video viewers across the world. Now, instead of requiring an external plug-in or the use of additional software, you can now stabilise your video footage using a native built-in feature in Pro 16. New Features in VEGAS Pro 16 Built-in motion trackingīuilt-in motion tracking is a new feature in VEGAS Pro 16! FINALLY! Any editors who have been working on the VEGAS and Sony Vegas (previously) will be pleased to have this much requested feature added to the software. VEGAS Pro 365 is a subscription plan for VEGAS that works quite similarly to Adobe Creative Cloud in that you pay a monthly fee for access to the video editing software. If this price is out of your price range, don’t worry, there are other options in the VEGAS family.
#Vegas pro 16 upgrade price software
You can now purchase and download VEGAS Pro 16 at Vegas Creative Software for a price of $599 or €599. As we predicted, VEGAS Pro 16 was announced and given a release date on August 27th 2018. A new version of the video editing software VEGAS, formally known as Sony Vegas, is typically released every year or two.

NVIDIA TITAN RTX
NVIDIA's TITAN arrangement of designs cards has been a fascinating one since the dispatch of the first in 2013. That Kepler-based GTX TITAN model topped at 4.5 TFLOPS single-exactness (FP32), execution that was supported to 5.1 TFLOPS with the arrival of the TITAN Black the next year.
Quick forward to the current day, where we presently have the TITAN RTX, bragging 16.3 TFLOPS single-accuracy, and 32.6 TFLOPS of half-exactness (FP16). Twofold exactness (FP64) used to be standard admission on the prior TITANs, however today, you'll need the Volta-based TITAN V for opened execution (6.1 TFLOPS), or AMD's Radeon VII for in part opened execution (3.4 TFLOPS).
Of late, half-accuracy has collected a great deal of consideration by the ProViz showcase, since it's optimal for use with profound learning and AI, things that are developing in fame at an incredibly brisk pace. Add explicitly tuned Tensor centers to the blend, and profound learning execution on Turing turns out to be genuinely amazing.
NVIDIA TITAN RTX Graphics Card
Tensors are not by any means the only party stunt the TITAN RTX has. Like the remainder of the RTX line (on both the gaming and genius side), RT centers are available in the TITAN RTX, helpful for quickening continuous beam following outstanding tasks at hand. The centers should be explicitly bolstered by engineers, utilizing APIs, for example, DXR and VKRay. While support for NVIDIA's innovation began lukewarm, industry support has grown a great deal since the first disclosing of RTX at SIGGRAPH a year ago.
At E3 in June, a bunch of games had beam following related declarations, including Watch_Dogs: Legion, Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and obviously, Quake II RTX. On the plan side, a few designers have just discharged their RTX quickened arrangements, while a lot more are underway. NVIDIA has been gabbing of late about the Adobes and Autodesks of the world assisting with developing the rundown of RTX-implanted programming. We wouldn't be astonished if more RTX goodness was uncovered at SIGGRAPH this year once more.
For profound learning, the TITAN RTX's solid FP16 execution is quick all alone, however there are a couple of advantages locally available to help take things to the following level. The Tensor centers help in a significant part of the increasing speed, however the capacity to utilize blended exactness is another enormous part. With it, insignificant information following will be put away in single-accuracy, while the key information will get crunched into equal parts exactness. Everything consolidated, this can support preparing execution by 3x over the base GPU.
NVIDIA's TITAN RTX and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti - Backs
Likewise eminent for Turing is simultaneous number/coasting point tasks, which permits games (or programming) to execute INT and FP activities in equal without stumbling over one another in the pipeline. NVIDIA has noted in the past that with games like Shadow of the Tomb Raider, an example set of 100 guidelines included 62 FP and 38 INT, and that this simultaneous component legitimately improves execution accordingly.
Another significant element of TITAN RTX is its capacity to utilize NVLink, which basically consolidates the memory pools of two cards together, bringing about a solitary framebuffer that can be utilized for the greatest potential tasks. Since GPUs scale commonly very well with the sorts of outstanding tasks at hand the card focuses on, it's the genuine memory pooling that is going to offer the best advantage here. Gaming content that could likewise exploit multi-GPU would see an advantage with two cards and this connector, also.
Since it's an element selective to these RTX GPUs at the present time, it merits referencing that NVIDIA likewise packages a VirtualLink port at the back, permitting you to connect your HMD for VR, or in the most pessimistic scenario, use it as a full-fueled USB-C port, either for information move or telephone charging.
With the entirety of that secured, we should investigate the general current NVIDIA workstation stack:
NVIDIA's Quadro and TITAN Workstation GPU Lineup

P400 256 1070 0.6 TFLOPS 2 GB 3 32 GB/s 30W $139
Notes 1 GDDR6; 2 GDDR5X; 3 GDDR5; 4 HBM2
5 GDDR6 (ECC); 6 GDDR5X (ECC); 7 GDDR5 (ECC); 8 HBM2 (ECC)
Design: P = Pascal; V = Volta; RTX = Turing
The TITAN RTX matches the Quadro RTX 6000 and 8000 for having the most elevated number of centers in the Turing lineup. NVIDIA says the TITAN RTX is around 3 TFLOPS quicker in FP32 over the RTX 2080 Ti, and luckily, we have results for the two cards covering a wide-scope of tests to perceive how they analyze.
What's not found in the specs table above is the real execution of the beam following and profound learning segments. This next table enables away from of that to up:
NVIDIA's Quadro and TITAN – RTX Performance
RT Cores RTX-OPS Rays Cast 1 FP16 2 INT8 3 Deep-learning 2
TITAN RTX 72 84 T 11 32.6 206.1 130.5
RTX 8000 72 84 T 10 32.6 206.1 130.5
RTX 6000 72 84 T 10 32.6 206.1 130.5
RTX 5000 48 62 T 8 22.3 178.4 89.2
RTX 4000 36 43 T 6 14.2 28.5 57
Notes 1 Giga Rays/s; 2 TFLOPS; 3 TOPS
You'll see that the TITAN RTX has a higher "beams cast" spec than the top Quadros, which may owe its gratitude to higher timekeepers. Different specs are indistinguishable over the best three GPUs, with evident downsizing occurring as we move descending. Right now, the Quadro RTX 4000 (approximately a GeForce RTX 2070 equal) is the most reduced end current-gen Quadro from NVIDIA. Once more, SIGGRAPH is nearly upon us, so it may be the case that NVIDIA will have an equipment shock coming up; maybe a RTX 2060 Quadro identical.
When the RTX 2080 Ti as of now offers so much execution, who precisely is the TITAN RTX for? NVIDIA is focusing on it to a great extent at scientists, yet it optionally goes about as one of the quickest ProViz cards available. It could be selected by the individuals who need the quickest GPU arrangement going, and also a colossal 24GB framebuffer. 24GB may be excessive for a ton of current perception work, yet with profound learning, 24GB gives a great deal of breathing room.
In spite of all it offers, TITAN RTX can't be called an "extreme" answer for ProViz since it comes up short on some Quadro enhancements that the namesake GPUs have. That implies in certain top of the line structure suites like Siemens NX, a genuine Quadro may demonstrate better. Yet, on the off chance that you don't utilize any outstanding tasks at hand that experience explicit upgrades, the TITAN RTX will be very appealing given its list of capabilities (and that framebuffer!) If you're at any point befuddled about advancements in your product of decision, if you don't mind leave a remark!
Two or three years prior, NVIDIA chose to give some affection to the TITAN arrangement with driver upgrades that brings some equality among TITAN and Quadro. We would now be able to state that TITAN RTX appreciates a similar sort of execution helps that the TITAN Xp completed two years prior, something that will be reflected in a portion of the charts ahead.
Test PC and What We Test
On the accompanying pages, the consequences of our workstation GPU test gauntlet will be seen. The tests picked spread a wide scope of situations, from rendering to figure, and incorporates the utilization of both manufactured benchmarks and tests with true applications from any semblance of Adobe and Autodesk.
Nineteen designs cards have been tried for this article, with the rundown commanded by Quadro and Radeon Pro workstation cards. There's a sound sprinkling of gaming cards in there also, in any case, to show you any conceivable streamlining that might be occurring on either.
It would be ideal if you note that the testing for this article was directed a few months prior, before an invasion of movement and item dispatches. Illustrations card drivers discharged since our testing may improve execution in specific cases, however we wouldn't anticipate any eminent changes, having mental soundness checked a lot of our typical tried programming on both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs. In like manner, the past rendition of Windows was utilized for this specific testing, yet that additionally didn't uncover any burdens when we rational soundness checked in 1903.
As of late, we've invested a ton of energy cleaning our test suites, and furthermore our interior testing contents. We're right now during the time spent rebenchmarking various GPUs for a forthcoming glance at ProViz execution with cards from both AMD's Radeon RX 5700 and NVIDIA's GeForce SUPER arrangement. Luckily, results from those cards don't generally eat into a top-end card like the TITAN RTX, so lateness hasn't thwarted us this time.

For my fellow vidders who, like me, have lonnnnnnnged for the Pro version of Vegas... ZOMG, IT IS WITHIN REACH AT LAST! \o/
I’ve done some research on this since I saw it yesterday and it seems legit. This is the previous version of Vegas Pro Edit, so it’s 15 while 16 is the current one. However, once you have 15, you can get 16 for the upgrade price instead of the full price if that’s what you need, so you can still save!
Anyway, this bundle ends June 3 (or June 2, depending on where you are in the world in relation to the countdown) so don’t wait too long if you want to take advantage of it! ♥♥♥

That's more than an hour longer than the desktop-replacement average (4:23), more than twice as long as the Leopard Pro (2:32), but just a tad longer than the Strix (5:25).ĭuring regular use, the Predator stayed nice and cool, thanks in part to its metal Aeroblade 3D fan and five heat pipes. It endured for 5:36 on the Laptop Mag Battery Test, which browses the web continuously over Wi-Fi. That ties the Strix (3:19), and is just ahead of the average and the Leopard Pro, both at 3:24.Īs far as gaming notebooks go, the Predator lasts a decent amount of time on a charge. The Predator competed the OpenOffice Spreadsheet test, pairing 20,000 names and addresses, in 3 minutes and 19 seconds. The Strix, however, wasn't as fast as the Predator, at just 221.3MBps. The average (494.5MBps) is quicker, as is the Leopard Pro (565.5MBps). It took the Predator 16 seconds to transfer 4.97GB of files, which translates to a rate of 318.1 megabytes per second. The touchpad made a crunching sound, like someone spilled some granola beneath the plastic. On the Geekbench 4 overall performance test, the Predator earned a score of 14,305, beating out the desktop-replacement average (13,212), the Leopard Pro (13,665, i7-7700HQ) and the Strix (13,693, i7-7700HQ). Although I appreciate that Acer jammed a number pad on here, the arrow keys and right shift key are way too close together, and it's easy to hit the wrong one. The WASD keys are highlighted in red, which is a nice touch, but being able to pick any color I want with the backlight would be even nicer.
#Acer predator helios 300 2nd hard drive full#
Other laptops in this price range, like the Strix, have keyboards with full RGB backlighting, so it's disappointing to see Acer settle exclusively for red. On the typing test, I reached 107 words per minute, my usual average, but with a 4 percent error rate (twice what I usually get wrong). It requires 70 grams of actuation to press down, which resulted in a comfortable keystroke that didn't pop up fast enough, which could be an issue for gaming. The Predator's keyboard has a deep 1.6 millimeters of travel, but it doesn't feel as snappy as I like. The average is 291 nits, and both the Strix (285 nits) and the Leopard Pro (245 nits) were even dimmer. It wasn't as vivid as the Leopard Pro's 165 percent, however.Īcer's screen is far brighter than similar notebooks at an average 373 nits on our light meter. The Predator's screen covers 139 percent of the sRGB color gamut, beating out the desktop-replacement average (129 percent) and the Strix (124 percent). When I played Mass Effect: Andromeda, I could see my alien enemies even in a dark cavern in their base, and the blue skies on foreign planets were bright and clear. And the details were so sharp that I could make out every sequin on Jessica Chastain's dress. When I watched the trailer for Molly's Game, the green poker tables were so vivid I felt like I was in a Vegas casino.
#Acer predator helios 300 2nd hard drive 1080p#
The 17.3-inch, 1080p display on the Predator is nice and bright, with solid colors. One allows access to the hard drive, while the other makes it easy to swap in more RAM. Acer makes it easy with two doors on the bottom of the laptop, each held in with a single screw.
#Acer predator helios 300 2nd hard drive upgrade#
If you want to upgrade your laptop in the future, you're in luck. The right is sparser: just the headphone jack, a pair of USB 2.0 ports and the power jack. On the left are a Kensington lock slot, an Ethernet port, a USB 3.0 port, an HDMI output, a USB 3.0 port and an SD card reader. The sides of the laptop are lined with a wide variety of ports to plug in external hard drives, peripherals and monitors. The MSI GP72VR 7RFX Leopard Pro is 6.4 pounds and 16.5 x 10.6 x 1.5 inches, and the Asus ROG Strix GL753VE is 6.4 pounds and 16.4 x 10.7 x 1.3 inches. The Predator is 6.6 pounds and 17 x 11.4 x 1.1 inches, which is heavier than its competitors.

An eGPU can give your Mac additional graphics performance for professional apps, 3D gaming, VR content creation, and more.
eGPUs are supported by any Thunderbolt 3-equipped Mac1 running macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 or later. Learn how to update the software on your Mac.
An eGPU lets you do all this on your Mac:
Accelerate apps that use Metal, OpenGL, and OpenCL
Connect additional external monitors and displays
Use virtual reality headsets plugged into the eGPU
Charge your MacBook Pro while using the eGPU
Use an eGPU with your MacBook Pro while its built-in display is closed
Connect an eGPU while a user is logged in
Connect more than one eGPU using the multiple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports on your Mac2
Use the menu bar item to safely disconnect the eGPU
View the activity levels of built-in and external GPUs (Open Activity Monitor, then choose Window > GPU History.)
eGPU support in apps
eGPU support in macOS High Sierra 10.13.4 and later is designed to accelerate Metal, OpenGL, and OpenCL apps that benefit from a powerful eGPU. Not all apps support eGPU acceleration; check with the app's developer to learn more.3
In general, an eGPU can accelerate performance in these types of apps:
Pro apps designed to utilize multiple GPUs
3D games, when an external monitor is attached directly to the eGPU
VR apps, when the VR headset is attached directly to the eGPU
Pro apps and 3D games that accelerate the built-in display of iMac, iMac Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro (This capability must be enabled by the app's developer.)
You can configure applications to use an eGPU with one of the following methods.
Use the Prefer External GPU option
Starting with macOS Mojave 10.14, you can turn on Prefer External GPU in a specific app's Get Info panel in the Finder. This option lets the eGPU accelerate apps on any display connected to the Mac—including displays built in to iMac, iMac Pro, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro:
Quit the app if it's open.
Select the app in the Finder. Most apps are in your Applications folder. If you open the app from an alias or launcher, Control-click the app's icon and choose Show Original from the pop-up menu. Then select the original app.
Press Command-I to show the app's info window.
Select the checkbox next to Prefer External GPU.
Open the app to use it with the eGPU.
You won't see this option if an eGPU isn't connected, if your Mac isn't running macOS Mojave or later, or if the app self-manages its GPU selection. Some apps, such as Final Cut Pro, directly choose which graphics processors are used and will ignore the Prefer External GPU checkbox.
Set an external eGPU-connected display as the primary display
If you have an external display connected to your eGPU, you can choose it as the primary display for all apps. Since apps default to the GPU associated with the primary display, this option works with a variety of apps:
Quit any open apps that you want the eGPU to accelerate on the primary display.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences. Select Displays, then select the Arrangement tab.
Drag the white menu bar to the box that represents the display that's attached to the eGPU.
Open the apps that you want to use with the eGPU.
If you disconnect the eGPU, your Mac defaults back to the internal graphics processors that drives the built-in display. When the eGPU is re-attached, it automatically sets the external display as the primary display.
About macOS GPU drivers
Mac hardware and GPU software drivers have always been deeply integrated into the system. This design fuels the visually rich and graphical macOS experience as well as many deeper platform compute and graphics features. These include accelerating the user interface, providing support for advanced display features, rendering 3D graphics for pro software and games, processing photos and videos, driving powerful GPU compute features, and accelerating machine learning tasks. This deep integration also enables optimal battery life while providing for greater system performance and stability.
Apple develops, integrates, and supports macOS GPU drivers to ensure there are consistent GPU capabilities across all Mac products, including rich APIs like Metal, Core Animation, Core Image, and Core ML. In order to deliver the best possible customer experience, GPU drivers need to be engineered, integrated, tested, and delivered with each version of macOS. Aftermarket GPU drivers delivered by third parties are not compatible with macOS.
The GPU drivers delivered with macOS are also designed to enable a high quality, high performance experience when using an eGPU, as described in the list of recommended eGPU chassis and graphics card configurations below. Because of this deep system integration, only graphics cards that use the same GPU architecture as those built into Mac products are supported in macOS.
Supported eGPU configurations
It's important to use an eGPU with a recommended graphics card and Thunderbolt 3 chassis. If you use an eGPU to also charge your MacBook Pro, the eGPU's chassis needs to provide enough power to run the graphics card and charge the computer. Check with the manufacturer of the chassis to find out if it provides enough power for your MacBook Pro.

Mac Mini For Photoshop
The entry-level Mac mini offers a 3.6GHz quad-core i3 processor for £799/$799 which may not fulfil the needs of the typical designer, but the £1,099/$1,099 version offers a 3.0GHz 6-core i5. Apple FINALLY updated their Mac Mini product line late in 2018 (with a minor update in March 2020), making it a pretty good option for photographers to run Lightroom and Photoshop. This buying guide provides insight into which model and what configuration options photographers should consider. The best budget Mac for photo editing is the 2019 Mac Mini for about $900 and the best budget PC is the Dell Inspiron 3670 for about $650. Add the ViewSonic VA2719-2K-SMHD 27 Inch display for about $220 and a 4TB hard drive for another $100. So you are a photographer on a tight budget in need of a computer to run Lightroom and Photoshop. Hi John - The PA272W-BK-SV 27' 16:9 IPS Monitor with SpectraViewII from NEC comes equipped with the NEC SpectraViewII color calibration tool and features enhanced color accuracy covering 99.3% of the Adobe RGB color space, 94.8% of the NTSC color space, and 146.4% of the sRGB color space. With a variety of input connectors including DisplayPort, Mini DisplayPort, HDMI, and DVI-D Dual-Link, you.

What is Final Cut Pro X like running on a new Mac mini? We take a look at the new model, its features and how well FCPX performs. It even beats an iMac Pro in one of our tests!
Before we plug the new Mac mini up, it is important to understand that this version of the unit has changed. Changed a lot.
Back in 2005, the Mac mini was designed for switchers from PCs. It didn’t come with a screen, keyboard or mouse and keeping the price down helped make the transition to Mac OS 10.3 Panther and a PowerPC processor as painless as possible.
Times and technology have changed, no need now for the DVD slot or a spinning hard disk for storage.
The switchers of today are buying MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros as their first Macs, not the mini.
So this gives Apple a chance to change and retarget the use of the Mac mini. Consequently, that’s exactly what they have done with the new range of models.
But instead of offering (To quote Steve Jobs) a ‘stripped down Mac’ they’ve actually put the logic board on steroids!
The fourth generation Mac mini now has a choice of quad and 6-core processors, up to 64GB of Ram, up to 2TB of SSD storage and the option of a 10GigE port over the standard GigE.
There are also four USB-C Thunderbolt 3 ports fed from two controllers, an HDMI port that supports 4K and two USB 3 ports. So yes, you can plug your own keyboard and mouse in without having to buy any adaptors.
Can the user upgrade the RAM in the new machine? Yes, it is possible, but it is not a case of flipping up a slot and exchanging the cards out.
You have to remove the cooling fan and then slide out the logic board. Make a mess of it and you’ll invalidate the warranty, so it is best to stick to an Apple approved centre for the upgrade. Should you want to get your spudger out and see the insides of the new Mac mini, head over to the excellent iFixit site.
The machine on test is a 3.2GHz 6‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i7, 32GB 2666MHz DDR4, Intel UHD Graphics 630, 1TB SSD storage and the 10 Gigabit Ethernet option.
If the colour of the Mac mini looks familiar, it is exactly the same as the iMac Pro and (after seeing them side by side) the Blackmagic external GPU. This also makes sense of the decision for Apple to sell the black keyboard and mouse and also probably hints at the new Mac Pro colour. (And possible footprint- a skyscraper sized oblong trashcan?)
Connecting it up
I’m lucky to have 2 10GigE connections on the back of my QNAP NAS. Final Cut Pro X needs fast drives to be able to build the ‘always live’ waveforms and thumbnails.
Plumbing the Mac mini into the edit system is easy and I’ve detailed how to do point to point 10Gig connection before if you haven't got a router/switch.
If you need the internet on the machine, a cheap USB to Ethernet adaptor from Amazon for $15 works as well as anything else. Run a speed test to make sure you are accessing the NAS via the higher speed route.
I powered a 4K monitor from the HDMI port; this works well and avoids any more dongles having to be bought.
After 25 years of Mac ownership, I have enough keyboards and a spare mouse to finish off the system!
Power On
The machine comes with Mojave installed and defaults to dark mode on the now silent boot. The machine is very quiet and can’t be heard over the fan of the nearby QNAP, which isn’t that loud either. This machine could easily sit on your desktop and not annoy you or your co-worker.
I read a recent review that the sound was pretty terrible out of the Mac mini. I’d disagree. It isn’t great, but it isn’t bad either. I’d say it was better than the old cylinder Mac Pro, but not in the league of the Mac notebooks. You wouldn’t want to use it as edit monitoring.
The Mac mini does have a headphone socket and I can see many editors sitting in offices with the machine on the desk and headphones on editing all day.
Although I worked the machine hard with rendering, the shell didn't get too hot. However I did feel the warm rush of air out of the back of the machine which caught me by surprise when the mini was angled away from me.
I wouldn't have it in this orientation for continuous use, ie situated under a central monitor post with cables pointing at you. Instead I suggest putting the cables and heat exhaust to the back. It will make plugging the headphones in a bit trickier, but I hate sitting in draught!
Final Cut Pro X Performance!
Let’s give it a real test and put it up against an iMac Pro!
I thought I’d dive straight in with a 4K Project and use a Library with a short minute and a half sequence with large still images, transitions, multiple title and adjustment layers.
It is in a Library that I duplicated to both machines with the media staying on the QNAP. The cache was set to both desktops respectively as the RAM in both runs at up to 3Gig speed.
Mac Mini For Photoshop Cs6
Although I didn’t time it, it felt like the thumbnails were taking a longer time to draw than I’m used to on the iMac Pro. All render files were deleted before all tests.
Unrendered, the Mac mini played the sequence back in Better Performance, but dropped frames on Better Quality. The iMac Pro played back in both settings without a problem.
Skimming seemed just as fast as the iMac Pro and it didn’t feel underpowered when navigating the timeline or browser.
The iMac is an 8 core machine with 64GB of RAM and more importantly a Radeon Pro Vega 64 GPU.
Both machines are connected to the same storage via 10GigE and renders and exports went to the respective desktops. (Ok I know it is NBase-T which supports 1Gb, 2.5Gb, 5Gb and 10Gb)
Render time Mac mini 7’03” iMac Pro 1’43”
Mac Mini For Photoshop Software
4K ProRes 422 Export Mac mini 6’45 iMac Pro 1’40”
As expected here as FCPX uses the GPU for image processing, the much lower powered Mac mini takes a lot longer.
Compressor Convert to HEVC 4K 8Bit Mac mini 54” iMac Pro 55”
Well, the Mac mini beat the iMac Pro! This is because all of the conversion is done on the CPUs.
Not really worth testing for Motion as apart from a few things like particles, Motion almost lives on the GPU.
Compressor Clusters
No, not a new breakfast cereal, but Compressor allows you to share the work out over connected machines.
I didn’t realise that the ability to set up a cluster of machines running Compressor was easy to do. Well, when I say easy my first attempt failed, but that might be down to my slightly quirky network topology with the QNAP.
To build a cluster, on the machines you want to add, open up a copy of Compressor. In the preferences, turn the option on for other computers to process batches.
Then on the host machine, make a cluster from the available machines in the list. Here you can see we have got something very wrong! We will be revisiting this topic with the issue fixed when we have more time.
Then having named your cluster (or other single machine), you can then toggle the processing destination in the dropdown menu on the bottom of the host machine's Compressor GUI.
To work properly and fast, all the machines need to be connected with 10GigE via a 10GigE switch. The costs of this networking is now a lot cheaper, Netgear and QNAP make a suitable budget switch.
There is no limit to the amount of Mac minis you can have in a cluster. You'll probably run out of switch ports first!
One note here. For distributed processing, it has to be a self contained movie that gets automatically diced and sliced and sent off to the cluster machines.
Conclusions
Not what I expected. I guess I was in the state of mind thinking that the Mac mini wasn’t a serious machine for anything other than web browsing, Plex serving or basic Photoshop.
It’s a lot more than than. It is a component in building a modular system, which is a new thought considering that Apple has been criticised over the past few years for lack of upgradability in the Mac Pro and iMac Pro.
There are two reasons for this new direction. The first are Thunderbolt 3 connections giving the option of using an external GPU and therefore factoring out the limited onboard Intel offering.
The second is the option of a 10GigE port. Being able to connect to high speed shared storage without going through an adaptor is a huge plus.
Why? Take sever centres for example. Every App on the iOS App Store has been compiled on a Mac. Rack up rows of Mac minis connected with 10GigE and you have a facility that can get apps ready quickly. No need for costly large GPUs here, all the work will be done by the CPU cores. Once set up, the Mac mini is more than happy to run in a headless mode. I've worked with a few producers like that.
This is also true of building a small Mac mini cluster to do the hard work of making all the different deliverables of an FCPX exported finished movie - while you carry on editing something else with your main machine. It would make sense for a large production or facility house to have a rack of these that everybody could access when needed.
Put five or ten of these together in a rack and you have a very fast DIT tool for making proxies and dailies on set. The Mac mini above gets its first on set DIT experience tomorrow!
I’ll leave you with a final thought.
Spec up a 6-core Mac mini with 32GB of RAM, 1TB of SSD storage and the soon to ship Blackmagic RX Vega 56 eGPU and you have a machine that’s not too far from the base model iMac Pro, wait for it... with over £1,200 left spare.
Granted, you’ll have to supply your own monitor, keyboard and mouse, but if upgradability is important to you, this could be a very clever way of getting the power with the flexibility.
Hopefully we will have an eGPU to test soon :)

A Ryzen 7 4800U for Businesses: HP EliteBook 845 G7 Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U Laptop Review
We had recently checked out the HP EliteBook 845 G7 equipped with the hexa-core Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U CPU, 8 GB of single-channel RAM, and 250-nit display panel option. This time, we want to see how well the pricier configuration with the octa-core Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U CPU, 16 GB of dual-channel RAM, and 400-nit panel option can compare. What performance and display differences can users expect between these two SKUs?
Our test unit as configured retails for about $1300 or more. We recommend reading up on our review on the Ryzen 5 configuration to learn more about the physical features of the laptop including its keyboard, port options, and serviceability.
Alternatives to the HP EliteBook 845 G7 include other high-end 14-inch business laptops like the Lenovo X1 Carbon and Dell Latitude 7410 or prosumer laptops like the Huawei MateBook X Pro or Asus ZenBook S UX393.
HP EliteBook 845 G7 Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U 8 x 1.7 - 4.1 GHz, Renoir PRO (Zen 2)
Graphics adapter: AMD Radeon RX Vega 7 - 512 MB, Core: 1600 MHz, Memory: 1333 MHz, DDR4, 27.20.11041.2001
Memory: 16384 MB, DDR4-3200, 22-22-22-52, Dual-Channel
Display: 14.00 inch 16:9, 1920 x 1080 pixel 157 PPI, AU Optronics AUO068B, IPS, glossy: no, 60 Hz
Mainboard: AMD Promontory/Bixby FCH
Storage: Samsung SSD PM981a MZVLB256HBHQ, 256 GB
Weight: 1.39 kg ( = 49.03 oz / 3.06 pounds), Power Supply: 280 g ( = 9.88 oz / 0.62 pounds)
Price: 1300 USD
Display
Our configuration comes equipped with a 400-nit AU Optronics panel in contrast to the 250-nit LG Philips panel on our Ryzen 5 SKU. Other than being brighter, this particular panel also offers deeper colors and a similar contrast ratio of over 1000:1. Black-white and gray-gray response times, however, are slower for more noticeable ghosting here. Still, we find this trade-off to be well worth it especially for an office laptop where colors and brightness are often more important than super-fast response times.
Note that maximum brightness will automatically drop to just 184 nits when on battery power due to AMD Vari-Bright. Disabling this feature via the included Radeon software lifts this low ceiling up to 432.5 nits.
Color space is two times greater than on our less expensive 6-core EliteBook 845 G7 configuration. Our 400-nit panel option covers all of sRGB and approximately 64 percent of AdobeRGB to be suitable for most editors or content creators.
The panel is well-calibrated out of the box with average grayscale and color DeltaE values of just 2.5 and 2.34, respectively. Calibrating the display ourselves even further would improve both gamma and RGB balance just marginally.
Though the 400-nit display is brighter than the 250-nit display on our Ryzen 5 model, it's still not bright enough to be viewable outdoors. Luckily, HP offers an even brighter 1000-nit panel option for its EliteBook 845 series much like on the EliteBook 1030/1040 series.
Performance
Unlike the Intel-powered EliteBook 840 G7 series, the EliteBook 845 G7 series is home to all the 7 nm AMD options. Users can choose between the Ryzen 3 Pro 4450U, Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U, or Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U. The Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U is essentially the business version of the consumer Ryzen 7 4800U meaning it supports memory encryption, Secure Boot, Trusted Applications, and other hardware-based security measures. Clock rates are slightly slower than the Ryzen 7 4800U as a result of the security overhead (1.7 GHz vs. 1.8 GHz base). The number of GPU cores has been reduced from 8 (Vega 8) to 7 (Vega 7).
Processor
Much like the Ryzen 7 4800U, multi-thread performance on the octa-core Ryzen 7 Pro 4750U is insanely fast when considering the small chassis form factor and small 15 W to 25 W TDP range. CineBench results rank our processor to be on par with the hexa-core Core i7-10750H which is a more much power-hungry processor commonly found on larger laptops like the HP Envy 15, HP Spectre x360 15, or the Dell XPS 15. Intel has no proper U-series octa-core equivalent at the moment as its closest alternative is the 14 nm hexa-core Core i7-10810U which also boasts much slower integrated graphics performance as well.
Upgrading from the 6-core Ryzen 5 Pro 4650U to the 8-core Ryzen Pro 4750U will bring a 20 to 25 percent performance boost in multi-threaded workloads while single-core performance is essentially the same.
System Performance
PCMark results are excellent for a business laptop especially in Digital Content Creation where the extra CPU cores and fast integrated Vega 7 graphics come in handy.
We experienced no software issues with our test unit. On the hardware side, however, our HP P700 external SSD would constantly disconnect and reconnect when attached to any of USB-A ports of the laptop. Connecting the external SSD via USB-C solves the issue. Nonetheless, we recommend testing various USB-A devices to check if the USB ports are exhibiting any issues.
DPC Latency
LattencyMon shows no DPC latency issues when opening multiple browser tabs on our homepage. 4K UHD video playback is also smooth with just 6 dropped frames during our minute-long YouTube test.
Storage Devices
Storage drives often differ between regions or resellers. Our Ryzen 7 EliteBook 845 G7, for example, comes with a 256 GB Samsung PM981a compared to the 256 GB PM991 on the Ryzen 5 option. The PM981a is significantly faster than the PM991 especially in sequential write rates. users can configure up to 1 TB, but we can't guarantee what specific drives will actually be included.
GPU Performance
Graphics performance is excellent especially for a business laptop running on just integrated graphics. The Radeon RX Vega 7 here is consistently faster than even the Core i7 Iris Xe in the recently released Asus ZenBook 14 UX425EA according to 3DMark benchmarks. Results are also on par with the discrete GeForce MX250. This doesn't necessarily mean that our HP system will run games faster than other systems the Iris Xe or GeForce MX250 due to differences in drivers and optimizations, but the raw performance is impressive nonetheless.
Note that our Vega 7 GPU is performing over 60 percent faster than the Vega 6 GPU in our Ryzen 5 EliteBook 845 G7. The wide delta can be partly attributed to the single-channel 8 GB RAM on our Ryzen 5 SKU compared to the dual-channel 16 GB RAM on our Ryzen 7 SKU. The graphics performance difference between Vega 6 and Vega 7 should therefore be much closer than what is presented below between these two HP laptops.
Emissions
System Noise
Fan noise is about the same as on the Ryzen 5 SKU after accounting for the differences in environmental noise. An exception, however, occurs when running Prime95 or when the processor is subjected to similar extreme loads. In such scenarios, fan noise will plateau louder at almost 40 dB(A). The noise is higher-pitched than we would like as well meaning the fan is more noticeable when it starts ramping up.
Temperature
Surface temperatures are generally warmer than on the 6-core EliteBook 845 G7. Hot spots when running extreme loads reach up to 44 C and 53 C on the top and bottom surfaces of the chassis, respectively, compared to just 39 C on the 6-core configuration. The palm rests and most of the keyboard keys remain cooler and so the higher temperatures are not bothersome.
Stress Test
When running Prime95, the CPU would boost to 3.2 GHz for just a few seconds before falling and stabilizing at 2.9 GHz and 84 C which is warmer than on most Ultrabooks. Interestingly, core temperature is generally cooler than what we observed on the Ryzen 5 version of the EliteBook 845 G7 where that CPU would reach 100 C when running CineBench R15.
Running on battery power will not limit performance. A 3DMark 11 test on batteries would return Physics and Graphics scores of 12102 and 5134 points, respectively, compared to 11889 and 5331 points on mains.
Energy Management
Power Consumption
When compared to the 6-core EliteBook 845 G7, our 8-core version consumes more power when under load. Running 3DMark 06 draws 40 percent more from the outlet for a 25 to 25 percent increase in multi-thread CPU performance and a 60 percent increase in graphics performance. Performance-per-watt here is higher than anticipated especially when compared to Intel's last generation Ice Lake or Comet Lake-U series.
The 65 W AC adapter is small (~8.8 x 5 x 2.8 cm) and capable of recharging the laptop at a decent rate when running extreme loads.
Battery Life
Expect around 13 hours of real-world WLAN use when running on battery power. The system can be recharged via USB-C or the proprietary AC barrel port.
Verdict
Laptops powered by the latest AMD Renoir CPUs deserve more attention than they're getting simply because they're outperforming the usual Intel options at the same price or less especially in graphics performance. If the types of applications you run can benefit from additional physical cores or faster GPU performance, then a Ryzen 5 or Ryzen 7 configuration will be a no-brainer. It's a shame that HP doesn't include these same AMD options for more of its EliteBook models like on the Dragonfly or EliteBook 1030/1040 series.
As for the display, we believe the upgrade from 250-nit to 400-nit is worth considering mostly because it brings deeper and more accurate colors alongside the bump in brightness level. Battery life isn't significantly impacted and outdoor visibility will be a bit better as well. When configured correctly, the EliteBook 845 G7 gets almost everything right.

How To Leave Dell Optiplex Gx10 Windows 10 Without Being Noticed | dell optiplex gx10 windows 10
There are abounding adorable laptops now accessible for artistic users, but generally alone a desktop computer can accommodate the compute power, awning admeasurement and expandability appropriate for high-end graphics, architecture and video work.
Dell Optiplex GX110 110.10GHz Pentium D Dual Core 10GB DDR10 410 GB Hard .. | dell optiplex gx620 windows 10
In contempo years, the elegant, all-in-one (AIO) designs of Apple’s iMac and iMac Pro accept accepted accepted with abounding artistic users and — as is so generally the case — accept aggressive abounding agnate designs from manufacturers of Windows PCs. Abounding of these designs are abject imitations, but some PC manufacturers accept appear up with absorbing angles of their own, with appearance such as the adjustable, touch-sensitive displays of Microsoft’s Surface Studio and the Lenovo Yoga A940, which can be bargain appropriate bottomward assimilate the desktop and acclimated like a acceptable cartoon lath for architecture and analogy work. Meanwhile, HP has outgunned the 27-inch iMac with imposing 32-inch and arced 34-inch AIOs.
The abundant weakness with all-in-one designs such as these is, of course, their bound ambit for expansion. It took Apple several years to adapt its blighted ‘trashcan’ Mac Pro, afore assuredly ablution a new Mac Pro at the end of 2019, but workstation-class belfry systems are the bread-and-butter business of abounding PC manufacturers, so there’s no curtailment of powerful, abundant desktop systems accessible for Windows users.
And, with the approaching of the absolute Mac ambit now adorable ambiguous — at atomic in the abbreviate appellation — afterward Apple’s advertisement of a two-year plan to alteration to its own Arm-based Apple Silicon, abounding artistic users may now be apprehensive whether this is the time to attending at Windows alternatives.
Acer’s ConceptD laptops accept tempted artistic users with some arresting designs in contempo months, but desktop models are additionally available. These ambit from the bunched entry-level ConceptD 100 to the bifold Xeon-based ConceptD 900 able workstation, which costs a baronial $22,999.99 in the US.
The alone archetypal currently accessible from Acer’s UK online abundance is the mid-range ConceptD 500, a bunched belfry arrangement costing £2,249.16 (ex. VAT or £2,699 inc. VAT). This buys you an octa-core Core i9-9900K processor active at 3.6GHz (5GHz with TurboBoost), 64GB of RAM, a 2TB adamantine drive and a 1TB SSD, and an Nvidia Quadro P4000 cartoon agenda with 8GB of committed video memory.
In the US, the ConceptD 500 alternative on auction costs $3,499, for which you get an octa-core Core i7-9700K processor (3.6-4.9GHz), 32GB of RAM, a 2TB HDD and a 512GB SSD and an Nvidia Quadro RTX 4000 GPU with 8GB of video RAM.
These prices don’t accommodate a display, but Acer does aftermath a ambit of ConceptD monitors. This acme out at the $2,199.99/£1,999.99 ConceptD CP7, a 27-inch Pantone-validated affectation with able colour accurateness (99% Adobe RGB, Delta E
Although it’s compact, the ConceptD 500 belfry assemblage still finds allowance for advantageous amplification options, including three PCI-e slots, while the wood-effect bank on the top of the assemblage incorporates a accessible wireless charger for your smartphone.
from $3,499 / £2,249.16 (ex. VAT)
Apple’s advertisement at WWDC of its two-year plan to move the Mac artefact band to Apple Silicon and canal Intel processors aloft added questions than answers. However, the aggregation took affliction to assure its able users that key software developers such as Microsoft, Adobe and Autodesk were already developing new ‘universal’ versions of their key apps.

When Apple assuredly apparent the new adaptation of the Mac Pro aftermost year, some critics argued that Apple had taken six years to artlessly acknowledgment to the aluminium belfry architecture it had acclimated above-mentioned to the 2013 annular ‘trashcan’ Mac Pro.

Our latest NFL 2020 mock draft is here
Laviska Shenault, CeeDee Lamb, and Jerry Jeudy are three of the top 2020 wide receiver prospects.
Pass catchers, like CeeDee Lamb and Jerry Jeudy, will be in abundance in the first round this year.
If declarations continue to go as planned, there is no better position at the top of the 2020 NFL Draft than wide receiver. That’s even after Alabama’s DeVonta Smith and Oklahoma State’s Tylan Wallace announced they were returning to school for another season.
In this week’s mock draft, seven wide receivers go in the first round. That would be the most since seven were taken in Round 1 in 2004. That year saw three wide receivers drafted in the top 10, starting with wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald going third to the Arizona Cardinals.
Although the first round this year should feature a load of pass catchers, we might not see them going quite as high as they did in 2004. Still, we could see big runs at wide receiver, starting with Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III of Alabama.
Here’s how the wide receivers could fall in the first round, and where they could go:
1. Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
In their history, the Bengals have taken five quarterbacks in the first round. Other than Carson Palmer in 2003, they’ve all been disastrous. Will Burrow be Palmer, or will he be a bust like Akili Smith in 1999 and David Klingler in 1992? The Bengals don’t have an option other than to find out.
2. Washington: Chase Young, DE, Ohio State
With Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio, Washington could run an interesting 4-3/3-4 hybrid that will rely on Young and Montez Sweat being versatile rushing the passer. That should give the team quite the dangerous duo to help mask some of its flaws in the secondary.
3. Detroit Lions: Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State
One of the biggest things to monitor with the Lions this offseason is the future of cornerback Darius Slay. He has one year left on his contract, but voiced his displeasure when the team shipped Quandre Diggs to the Seahawks. If Slay is out, Ohio State’s Jeff Okudah will be in play with the third pick.
4. New York Giants: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
With it being so early in the draft process, there is no consensus on who is the top offensive tackle prospect. Some like Andrew Thomas of Georgia or Jedrick Wills of Alabama, while others prefer Wirfs. For the Giants, right tackle Mike Remmers is a free agent. If he departs, New York could bolster that side of the line with Wirfs and have a dominant side with guard Will Hernandez.
5. Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
Miami caught a break on Monday with Tagovailoa announcing that he will enter the draft. That gives the quarterback-needy Dolphins an option with the fifth pick. The key, of course, will be getting comfortable with Tagovailoa’s extensive injury history.
6. Los Angeles Chargers: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
The Chargers go into the offseason in a standoff with longtime quarterback Philip Rivers. Do they let the free agent walk after a 20-interception season? Does Rivers even want to return? For the sake of this mock draft, let’s say Rivers is back with the Chargers. If he is, they could finally add talent on the offensive line with a player like Thomas.
7. Carolina Panthers: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
Kawann Short went on injured reserve in October, and one of Carolina’s biggest strengths became a weakness. When he comes back, the Panthers could pair him with a dominant player like Brown in the draft.
8. Arizona Cardinals: Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama
The Wills-to-Arizona pick again this week might be boring, but it’s impossible to ignore the Cardinals badly needing offensive line help. Wills is in the first tier of offensive tackles in this class, and then it’s a drop-off to players like Austin Jackson of USC, Josh Jones of Houston and Isaiah Wilson of Georgia.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson
Although it would be fun to give the Jaguars a wide receiver, the team’s need in the front seven is apparent. Simmons can man the middle of Jacksonville’s defense to help the run game, but he has the athleticism to roam the entire field.
10. Cleveland Browns: Grant Delpit, S, LSU
The Browns could be in trouble if Thomas, Wills, and Wirfs are all gone when they pick. But if that’s the case, they could still add a difference maker in Delpit to the back of the defense. The LSU standout is comfortable playing single-high safety, but has the physical prowess to come down against the run.
11. New York Jets: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
The Jets need to get some weapons for Sam Darnold, especially given that wide receiver Robby Anderson is a free agent. Jeudy is the draft’s best receiver, even if he isn’t the biggest or the fastest.
12. Las Vegas Raiders: Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
There’s just something that makes sense about the Raiders taking a speedy receiver like Ruggs. Now it’s just a matter of having the right quarterback to get him the ball.
13. Indianapolis Colts: Austin Jackson, OT, USC
It seems like the Colts finally figured out their offensive line, just in time for left tackle Anthony Castonzo to enter free agency as he ponders retirement. Oof. If he’s not back, the Colts could maintain a good line with an athletic blocker like Jackson.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
The Buccaneers have an interesting quarterback situation this offseason. Jameis Winston is fresh off a 30-interception season, and will still carry a hefty price tag as a free agent. Head coach Bruce Arians hasn’t minced words about Winston, and could seek a young passer like Herbert. Don’t forget, Arians is something of a quarterback whisperer, having helped build up players like Peyton Manning, Andrew Luck and Ben Roethlisberger. Herbert has tools, but needs the right coaching. He can get it from Arians.
15. Denver Broncos: A.J. Epenesa, DE, Iowa
Denver is another team in which it will be worth monitoring what happens to the roster. If defensive lineman Derek Wolfe departs, the Broncos could find a ready-made replacement in Epenesa.
16. Atlanta Falcons: Javon Kinlaw, DL, South Carolina
If the Falcons miss on Epenesa, they could fall back on Kinlaw, a versatile defensive lineman with skills to rush the passer from the inside.
17. Dallas Cowboys: Curtis Weaver, DE, Boise State
Robert Quinn could fetch a big contract in free agency after a strong season for Dallas. If he signs elsewhere, the Cowboys could find another good end from Boise State like they did with DeMarcus Lawrence.
18. Miami Dolphins (via Pittsburgh Steelers): Isaiah Wilson, OT, Georgia
What better way to protect a new franchise quarterback than with a 6’7, 340-pound behemoth of a right tackle? Wilson, who went pro after just his redshirt sophomore season at Georgia, engulfs defenders and leaves a clean pocket.
19. Las Vegas Raiders (via Chicago Bears): Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
The Raiders have a keeper in rookie cornerback Trayvon Mullen but could add a quality prospect opposite him in Diggs. That would give the Raiders a pair of big corners who can stick with receivers.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars: (via Los Angeles Rams): Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado
Maybe the Jaguars will go with Gardner Minshew as their quarterback of the future. Maybe they won’t. What they need regardless is weapons on offense. DJ Chark is a good receiver, but Chris Conley and Dede Westbrook are solid role players.
21. Philadelphia Eagles: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
Throughout much of this season, it was obvious the Eagles need talent at wide receiver. Lamb has No. 1 potential and averaged an incredible 21.4 yards per reception this season.
22. Buffalo Bills: Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson
While Cole Beasley and John Brown are a good system fit for Buffalo, it was clear in the postseason this year why the offense needs a star receiver. Fortunately, this is the draft to get one. At 6’3 and just over 200 pounds, Higgins has good size at the position and knows how to use it. No longer will Josh Allen have to throw deep passes to fullbacks in playoff games.
23. New England Patriots: K.J. Hamler, WR, Penn State
As expected, Hamler entered the draft and could fly up the board faster than he flies up the field. Although the Patriots took N’Keal Harry in the 2019 draft and traded a second-round pick for Mohamed Sanu, a quick receiver like Hamler would be a big upgrade over Phillip Dorsett.
24. New Orleans Saints: Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU
That’s right, another wide receiver! While it might be improbable to see five in a row get picked in the first round, it might not be a shock if seven get taken in top 32. Reagor and his deep speed would be a nice foil for the ultra dependable Michael Thomas.
25. Tennessee Titans: Yetur Gross-Matos, DE/OLB, Penn State
The Titans will be fortunate if a player like Gross-Matos drops down to their pick in the first round. Pass rusher is the team’s biggest need — that is, if Derrick Henry doesn’t bolt after the season.
26. Minnesota Vikings: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
Drafting for need is always a gamble, but when you’re a playoff team like the Vikings, it can make sense. Fulton, who started the last two seasons on an excellent LSU defense, could plug into the starting lineup straight away.
27. Miami Dolphins (via Houston Texans): A.J. Terrell, CB, Clemson
Cornerback Xavien Howard faces legal issues, and if the Dolphins release him it would open the position up as a big need in South Beach. Terrell was an all-conference player for Clemson this season despite rarely getting tested.
28. Seattle Seahawks: Terrell Lewis, DE/OLB, Alabama
Seattle had the second-fewest sacks in the NFL this season, so if there’s a good pass rusher, the team should pounce. Lewis bounced back this season after injuries plagued him early in his college career.
29. Kansas City Chiefs: Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
The Chiefs could let linebacker Reggie Ragland walk after this season and find his replacement with a linebacker like Murray. He showed improved range for Oklahoma this season, and would give the Chiefs a linebacker who can get after the passer.
30. Green Bay Packers: Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville
Bryan Bulaga is a free agent this offseason, and the Packers could find his successor with Becton. He’s another mountainous tackle who easily overpowers defenders.
31. San Francisco 49ers: Prince Tega Wanogho, OT, Auburn
The 49ers will probably move down after trading their second- and third-round picks already. But if they stick, they could find Joe Staley’s eventual replacement with left tackle Tega Wanogho.
32. Baltimore Ravens: Julian Okwara, DE/OLB, Notre Dame
Okwara isn’t the best run stopper up front, but he’ll be drafted for his ability to get after the passer. He could develop into Baltimore’s next Za’Darius Smith, who they missed this season after he went to Green Bay.

AMD or Intel? We take a look at the pros and cons of both processors
At the heart of your quest for a new or upgraded PC lies an important decision: Use an AMD or Intel CPU? Like Apple versus Microsoft or Fortniteversus Apex Legends, the AMD vs. Intel rivalry is one of the greatest debates for PC enthusiasts. Both are just as different from one another as the products they produce.
Yet one of these two purveyors of finely-wafered silicon will deliver the beating heart of your PC. Which CPU is the right choice for you? We dig into the details to find out.
Desktop CPUs
With cost serving as a major factor in building, upgrading, or purchasing a PC, choosing the right CPU often comes down to finding the one that offers the best bang for your buck. Typically AMD chips cost less and perform worse, but that’s not the case with the latest generation of CPUs. While AMD still represents great value for money, it does have some costly options which are even more powerful than the Intel alternative in some cases.
At the very low-end of the scale, AMD and Intel chips cost between $40 and $60 for a couple of cores and energy-efficient clock speeds. At the top of the scale though, both camps have $500 chips which are amazingly capable. For the red team, AMD’s Ryzen 3900X is king, with 12 cores, 24-threads, and a price tag around $500. Intel’s current top gamer chip, the 9900K, comes with eight cores and 16 threads, but it is clocked a little higher, with a 5GHz single-core boost, versus the 3900X’s 4.6GHz. It is priced a little less too, at $485.
For more middle-ground options, our recommended Intel chips include the Core i5-9400F for $160 and the Core i7-9700K for $380. On the AMD front, the 3700X is a fantastic option, with eight-cores and 16-threads, and a big boost to instructions per clock of its 2700X predecessor, all for $330. It’s a killer chip that gives Intel a run for its money in gaming and dominates it in multithreaded workloads.
Intel Core i9 and AMD Threadripper CPUs targeting enthusiasts and prosumers offer even more multithreaded performance and continue to expand core and thread counts. Intel’s seventh and ninth-generation i9 CPUs offer between 10 and 18 cores and thanks to hyperthreading, up to 36 threads. Prices can be sky-high though, with the flagship 9980XE costing as much as $2,000.
While AMD’s new-generation of Ryzen 3000 CPUs can give those chips a run for their money in some workloads if you need lots of PCI Express lanes, its first and second-generation Threadripper CPUs are still worth considering. Threadripper 2000-series CPUs offer between 12 and 32 cores and up to 64 threads with simultaneous multithreading. They are more expensive, ranging between $580 and $1,700. We recommend the Threadripper 2950x for around $650 if you want one of these high-end upgrades for a really top-line PC setup.
All Threadripper chips support 64 PCI Express lanes, which is a big advantage over the Intel range’s maximum of 44. They are more power-hungry though, thanks to all those additional cores.
Do bear in mind, however, that a third-generation of Threadripper CPUs will likely launch before the end of the year, and Intel is expected to launch its next-generation, 14nm Comet Lake desktop CPUs in early 2020.
Laptop CPUs
The laptop market is a different story. Most of what you’ll find are based on Intel processors of various generations and integrated graphics. As a Dell representative pointed out last year, Intel’s portfolio is simply huge compared to AMD: The gap between the two companies is substantial in terms of market share and “use cases.”
AMD is set to have its hardware at the heart of a number of laptops by the end of 2019, and has a few offerings out there already, like the new Acer Swift 3, but for now, the market is mostly dominated by Intel. You can pick from a wide range of configurations too, including eighth and ninth-generation CPUs. The latest range, though, sports Intel Ice Lake 10th-generation processors with 11th-generation onboard graphics. They represent some of the most capable and efficient laptops available and include the likes of the new Dell XPS 13 2-in-1. There are also upcoming Comet Lake mobile CPUs to consider.
Typically if you’re looking for good, all-round power in a laptop, Intel Core i5 processors from one of the recent generations are a great bet. Core i7 and Core i9 CPUs offer much more general computing performance, but unless you’re performing some heavy workloads a Core i5 is going to be more than enough in most cases.
Overall, both companies are producing processors within striking distance of one another on nearly every front — price, power, and performance. Intel chips tend to offer better performance per core, but AMD is compensating with more cores at a given price and better onboard graphics.
Gaming
Gaming is one area where picking a CPU can get tricky. All of Intel’s processors include on-die integrated graphics, but the performance isn’t up to par with discrete, stand-alone graphics chips or add-in graphics cards. Meanwhile, most of AMD’s desktop processors do not include integrated graphics. Some of them do and those are called AMD APUs, combining a Ryzen CPU core with a Radeon graphics core on the same die. They tend to have better graphics capabilities than Intel’s onboard cores, but weaker general processing. Ice Lake may change that typical paradigm, however.
Whether you go Intel or AMD, you can expect to spend between $200 and $350 for mid-level gaming processors and $500+ if you need a top-tier chip for high frame rates, or streaming and gaming at the same time.
Those who take their gaming seriously use an add-in graphics card or a discrete GPU rather than integrated graphics (these are the best ones). In those scenarios, Intel tends to dominate in gaming performance because of the way the two chip giants build their processors. Its 9900K is arguably the most powerful gaming CPU available at this time — even if early benchmarks were a bit suspicious.
AMD’s chips, and specifically its latest Ryzen CPUs, are excellent contenders, however, giving the 9900K a run for its money in most games with the 3900X and 3800X. They also decimate Intel in more multi-threaded scenarios and are great at running applications that support multiple cores. Alongside our Ryzen 3900X review, look out for more coverage of AMD’s latest gaming chips in the months to come.
This makes it much harder to simply recommend Intel for gaming than it used to. If you only game, then the 9700K and 9900K are the best CPUs you can buy, but Ryzen 3000 CPUs at similar prices will deliver comparable performance in games and offer much better performance elsewhere. If you do anything alongside or when you aren’t gaming, Ryzen 3000 chips are a better bet.
Mid-range Ryzen processors are well worth considering too. The Ryzen 3600 and 3600X offer incredible value while being very capable gaming chips. Even at the very low end, AMD’s Ryzen with Vega APUs offer decent gaming performance that’s worth considering, but their weaker processing capabilities mean they aren’t the best value long term unless you plan to upgrade down the line.
Unless you’re trying to play at very high frame rates or are locked to lower resolutions, like 1080Pp, the CPU is rarely the limiting factor in games. Springing for a more powerful graphics card will usually yield better results than doing so for a more powerful processor. And don’t forget that syncing technology like FreeSync and G-Sync can also make a big difference in gaming appearance, with or without optimizing your processor.
In some cases, you can opt for the best of both worlds though. Intel and AMD recently partnered to create combination chips with Intel CPUs and AMD graphics on the same die with the likes of the Core i7-8809G. In our testing of the 8809G-equipped “Hades Canyon” NUC, we found it to be a solid gaming machine, so it could be that this partnership leads to much greater hardware options in the future.
Who wins?
During an everyday workload, a top-end AMD chip and a top-end Intel chip won’t produce radically different outcomes. There are clear distinctions in specific scenarios and benchmarks, but the CPU isn’t the keystone of PC performance that it once was.
That said, AMD’s CPUs, especially, its newest Ryzen 3000 models, offer amazing value and performance throughout the whole range. From the modest 3600 right up to the 3900X, the bang for buck is arguably much better with AMD CPUs, even if you’re mostly a gamer. Intel CPUs are still great, but if they are to remain hotly competitive with AMD, Intel is going to need to lower prices — which might be worth holding out for if you’re only interested in buying Intel.
When it comes to choosing your next upgrade, looking at the individual performance numbers of the chip you want to buy is still your best bet, but considering these general guidelines will give you a good foundation of where to start. AMD Ryzen 3000 processors offer the best bang for buck throughout almost the entire value range. Intel does hold a slight edge in gaming at the very top end, but even then, the benefits of AMD CPUs outside of that easily outweigh such a slight lead. They have a better upgrade path too, as AMD promises existing motherboards will continue to work with new AMD chips in 2020.
If you can find Intel chips at a great price, you’re still getting great performance for your money, but know that you could be leaving some performance on the table if you ignore the new landscape that AMD processors have given us in 2019.
So which one you want to choose base on what’s your requirement.
Smallest ultrabook GPD P2 MAX, use Intel Core 8100y CPU, 8w TDP keep all device running under the suitable temp, at same time, provide the enough performance.

MacBook Pro 2019 vs MacBook Pro 2018 – Is it seriously worth an upgrade?
Let’s get this out of the way – for most people reading this MacBook Pro 2019 vs MacBook Pro 2018 comparison, it’s not a question of whether the MacBook Pro 2019 is worth upgrading to from the MacBook Pro 2018. You’d have to be incredibly rich to consider upgrading a laptop – especially one as powerful and expensive as the MacBook Pro – every year. While it’s tempting to always have the latest tech and cutting edge components, it’s just not economically viable. And while hardware – especially laptop components – are constantly improving, most of the time you’re not going to see such a radical leap in performance that it makes your current-year-old MacBook feel obsolete – though there have been exceptions. However, this comparison of the MacBook Pro 2019 vs MacBook Pro 2018 is going to be useful for anyone who has an older MacBook Pro and is considering an upgrade. Ditto for anyone who’s never owned a MacBook Pro before. Should you go for the latest and greatest MacBook Pro, or would buying the slightly older model be a wiser decision? Let’s take a look…
Design We’ll cut to the chase with this: the MacBook Pro 2019’s design is identical to the MacBook Pro 2018’s. That means they are the same dimensions – 13.7 x 9.48 x 0.61-inches (34.92 x 24.07 x 1.55) – and the same weight – 4.02 pounds (1.83kg). They also both come in the choice for two colors: Space Gray and Silver, which means on the outside, you won’t be able to tell the difference between the MacBook Pro 2019 and MacBook Pro 2018. So, this means you’re not missing out on any fancy new designs or features if you go for the 2018 model instead of this years. It also means if you loved the design of previous MacBook Pros, you can buy the 2019 model safe in the knowledge that you know what you’re getting. However, for anyone hoping for a more revolutionary redesign, you’ll be disappointed. Similarly, if previous post-2016 MacBook designs left you cold, the 2019 model does nothing to rectify that. So, you get the Touch Bar, an OLED strip with interactive buttons, above the keyboard, which has been included since 2016, as well as a Touch ID sensor for logging in with your fingerprint. Both the MacBook Pro 2019 and MacBook Pro 2018 have a 15.4-inch screen with 2,880 x 1,800 resolution, along with the True Tone feature for more vibrant colors. Because of the identical designs, if you were disappointed by the MacBook Pro 2018’s paucity of ports – with just four Thunderbolt 3 ports – then you’ll again be disappointed by the 2019 model’s exactly same port count. For regular users, the lack of ports won’t be too much of a bother, but for professionals who need to plug in legacy equipment, it means you need to invest in an adapter.
Keyboard The MacBook Pro 2018 addressed some long-standing criticism that Apple was facing about the keyboards included in previous models. Essentially, there have been complaints that the keyboards of MacBook Pros made after 2016 can malfunction. The blame lay with the ‘butterfly’ switches Apple uses in these keyboards. The 2018 model kept the butterfly switches but added a silicone membrane that was supposed to stop those issues occurring. Unfortunately, there were still reported issues, leading many to hope that Apple would ditch the butterfly switches for the MacBook Pro 2019. That hasn’t been the case, with the Mac Book Pro 2019 15-inch’s keyboard still using the problematic switches. However, Apple says it has further tweaked the keyboard, and while the company hasn’t divulged too much information about its tweaks, we do know that it has changed the materials used with the mechanism to reduce the likelihood of the keys getting stuck or not responding. While that is welcome – although disappointingly minor – tweak, Apple has also included the new MacBook Pro (2019) models in its Keyboard Service Program, which will replace a faulty keyboard free of charge. This suggests that Apple hasn’t completely fixed the issue.
Hardware While the outsides of the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2019 and the MacBook Pro 2018 are identical, the hardware inside them has changed. The base model of the MacBook Pro 15-inch (2019) comes with a 2.6GHz 6-core 9th generation Intel Core i7 processor, Radeon Pro 555X with 4GB of GDDR5 memory, 16GB 2400MHz DDR4 RAM and 256GB SSD. There’s also a model with a 2.3GHz 8-core 9th generation Intel Core i9 processor, Radeon Pro 560X with 4GB of GDDR5 memory, 16GB DDR4 memory and 512GB SSD storage. This is the first time an octa-core processor has been included in a MacBook Pro and gives the higher-end MacBook Pro 2019 some serious chops when it comes to multi-tasking. Meanwhile, the base model of the MacBook Pro 15-inch (2018) comes with a 2.6GHz 6-core 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, Radeon Pro 555X GPU, 16GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB SSD. The leap to 9th generation and boosted Radeon Pro graphics gives the 2019 base model a good bump in performance – but the 2018 model’s specifications are in no way underpowered. It remains a formidable laptop. As with the 2018 model, you can configure the 2019 MacBook Pro with more powerful components, including an 8th generation Intel Core i9 processor with 8 cores and a 2.4GHz clock speed (5.0Ghz boost), 32GB RAM and AMD Radeon Pro Vega 20 with 4GB of HBM2 memory. This makes it by far the most powerful MacBook ever made. If you’re simply after power, then there’s no contest: the high-end MacBook Pro 15-inch (2019) is the way to go. However, the 2018 model has enough power that it doesn’t feel outdated.
Price The good news is that for the US and Australia, the base model of the MacBook Pro 15-inch (2019) is the same as the 2018 model ($2,399/AU$3,499). That means you’re getting an improved processor and graphics card for no extra money than what you’d have paid last year. Meanwhile, the high-end model sells for $2,799 (£2,799, AU$4,099). That’s certainly a big chunk of change Apple is asking for. While the base model’s price remains the same in the US and Australia, in the UK it’s more expensive - £2,399 compared with the MacBook Pro 15-inch (2018)’s £2,349. Effectively, it means you’re paying £50 more for the improved hardware. If that seems a little unfair on the Brits, it’s because Apple has brought UK prices into line with US dollars, so for Apple, £1 = $1. With the base model of the MacBook Pro 15-inch (2019) staying the same, we imagine that the 2018 model will see a bit of a price drop. Considering that the 2018 model is still a very good laptop in its own right, it means you could get a fantastic deal on the 2018 model – making it a better value proposition. MacBook Pro 2019 vs MacBook Pro 2018: Which one should I buy? In many ways, the MacBook Pro 2019 and MacBook Pro 2018 are quite evenly matched. When it comes to design, you can pick either one without worrying that you’re missing out on any new features or design. The improved keyboard of the MacBook Pro 2019 means that if you’re concerned about spending vast sums of money on a laptop only to have a faulty keyboard, then that’s the model that could give you greater peace of mind. However, it’s worth noting that it’s still using the butterfly switches. If you want a whole new keyboard, you may have to wait for the rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro that could be coming later in 2019. Also, if getting the most powerful MacBook Pro is essential, then the MacBook Pro 15-inch (2019) is hands-down the one to get. However, if you’re looking for better value for money, you should see the 2018 model come down in price. The fact that the MacBook Pro 2018 is still a relatively recent laptop means even in 2019, you’re getting a powerful laptop with future-proof specifications. With a decent price cut, this could be the deciding feature when you’re comparing the MacBook Pro 2019 vs MacBook Pro 2018. Read the full article
