[ad_1] Sanju Samson vs South Africa, 1st T20I in Durban (PC: BCCI) After the first two overs of the fourth and final T20I between India and South Africa at the Wanderers, the visiting side had progressed to 16 for no loss. At that juncture, it just seemed like any other normal T20I from the past. That is not how it exactly panned out at the completion of India’s innings, as they finished with a monstrous score of 283 for the loss of only one wicket. The eye-popping stat was India adding 210 after the Powerplay, alongside 154 in the last 10 overs and 64 in the final five.  To make it even better, in three of the four games, India accumulated scores in excess of 200. Yes, at Port Elizabeth, India could muster a total of just 124, but both batting units struggled in that match, with the pitch offering enough help for the pacers and spinners. It wasn’t much different in the three-match series against Bangladesh, where India raced to scores of 132 for 3 in a mere 11.5 overs, 221 and a whopping 297 for 6. Even in Zimbabwe, India’s highest score was a substantial 234 in the second game.  Some of the risks taken by the batters also act as an indicator of India’s ultra-aggressive template. The first delivery of the series itself witnessed Sanju Samson walked down the pitch to Marco Jansen. And it was followed by Abhishek Sharma attempting a slog across the line. Those two deliveries resulted in a solitary run, but it was a warning sign for the opposition.  Sanju went on to crack two hundreds at a blistering strike-rate of 194.59. Although Abhishek couldn’t make most of his starts, his strike-rate of 173.21 was noteworthy. Just like Sanju, Tilak Varma, the No.3 bat, also compiled two centuries at an astounding strike-rate of 198.58. Suryakumar Yadav, the new T20I skipper, and known for his 360-degree stroke-play, had a poor series. Despite his poor showing, India notched up some tall scores.  Even in the Bangladesh-India series, Sanju, Suryakumar, Hardik Pandya, Ramandeep Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy all had strike-rates in the range of 180 to 220.  With the tracks in India turning out to be mostly flat for limited-overs cricket, the fearless template could help the side defend the World T20 title in their own backyard in 2026. Moreover, with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy and Arshdeep Singh in their ranks, India also have the required arsenal in their bowling to defend targets in such conditions.  Although, as always, a word of caution has to be thrown into the mix. Occasionally, when there is enough help for the bowlers, India would have to change their strategy. We saw a glimpse of that in the T20I played in Gqeberha, with India finding themselves at 5 for 2 in the second over. Leaving aside the occasional blip, India have found the right framework as they look to chart a new era in the shortest format, without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.   The post Ultra-aggressive India up the intent meter in the shortest format appeared first on Sports News Portal | Latest Sports Articles | Revsports. Chris Morris Recalls the Panic Moment In Rajasthan Royals Camp
Veteran South Africa as well as Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder Chris Morris has recently remembered the panic situation in the RR camp. And, now he is “relieved” to return his home safely after seeing a “chaos” in the camp once players started affecting by the global pandemic novel COVID-19 in the IPL bio-bubble. Morris, along with his other South African players has returned home safely, after the IPL was suspended with immediate effect for an indefinite time period.
He again revealed that they got to know about Kolkata Knight Riders players Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier got infected in the camp which ceated a buzz among them as well.
“Look, obviously I’m relieved,” Morris, who is now undergoing a 10-day mandatory quarantine period at home, said to iol.co.za. “The moment we heard that, when players are testing positive, inside the bubble, then everyone starts asking questions. The alarm bells definitely started going off for all of us.”
“By Monday when they postponed that game (between Kolkata and Royal Challengers Bangalore), we knew the tournament was under pressure to continue,” he again shared.
After Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrior, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wicketkeeper-batsman Wridhimman Saha and Delhi Capitals’ Amit Mishra has also been tested positive by the deadly virus which led the board to take the decision of postponing the cash-rich T20 league as well. Along with this, Chennai Super Kings’ bowling coach L Balaji and batting coach Michael Hussey have also been infected by the virus.
“I was chatting to our team doctor, whose room was across the hallway from my mine in the hotel, and Kumar (Sangakarra, the Royals’ head coach) came around the corner, and drew his finger across his throat, and then we knew it was over. And then it was chaos! The England guys especially were panicking because they needed to isolate in hotels in England first, and apparently there weren’t any rooms,” said Chris Morris.
However, the cash-rich league faced a lot of criticisms as it was taking place during a tough time of the global pandemic COVID-19 which has been infecting more than 3 lakhs people daily and more than 3000 people are losing their lives every day here as well.
“For me, this was always a two-fold thing on the one hand we’re playing a tournament, all happy and smiling in a bubble, while outside so many people are suffering,” Chris Morris added. “On the flip side of it, there was the fact that by playing, we were ensuring people actually stayed at home, watched us and at least had something to smile about or something else to think about – even if it was being unhappy with how we played in a game – for three hours each night.”

Match details:
DATE: 18 April 2021
TIME: 3:30 PM (IST)
VENUE: Chepauk Stadium, Chennai
LIVE BALL-BY-BALL COMMENTARY: Sportstiger
PREVIEW
With a boom, the IPL 2021 has begun. We are approaching the IPL 2021 Match 10, which will be played between KKR and RCB, after a series of incredible matches between the other teams. The match will take place on November 18th, 2021 at Chennai's Chepauk stadium. It will take place in the middle of the day. At 3:30 p.m., the Chepauk wicket is volatile, so both teams will be venturing into new territory making the game a bit unpredictable for both the sides.
The Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) played a thrilling match at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. Mumbai Indians won by ten runs over Kolkata Knight Riders. The outcome was unexpected, as KKR were well on their way to victory before the wickets fell quickly. Virat Kohli's RCB, on the other hand, performed admirably in both of their matches, with bowlers and batsmen working in tandem.
Chennai's hot and humid weather can be a problem to be concerned about. In the hot Chennai weather, both teams will opt to bat first, making the game extremely difficult.
TEAM NEWS
Royal Challenger`s Bangalore
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team has been on a winning streak. After such a strong start to the tournament, they have no need to change their playing lineup.
Kolkata Night Riders
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is unlikely to make any changes after a single defeat. They will also field the same XI.
KEY PLAYERS
Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell proved that Royal Challengers Bangalore's $1.89 million investment was well worth it after he led them to their second consecutive Indian Premier League win (IPL). He played an important part in both wins and seems to be in good form.
Nitish Rana
Nitish Rana has mostly been seen in the middle order as an accumulator, battling the spinners. However, when his team wanted to accelerate, the left-handed batsman has stepped on. He is one of the most valuable asset of KKR.
