6.       Points to remember

a.       If booked for Spa/ Facial service, please avoid intake of caffeine before your appointment -- it’s hard to relax on the massage table when you’re still jittery from your afternoon coffee! The same goes for eating a heavy meal (have a gap of at least 2 hrs).

b.       If you’ve booked any exfoliation treatments, do not shave/ wax less than 24 hours or more before your appointment.

Do you have dark under eye circles yet you do not want to try expensive creams?  Then save your money and head to your kitchen!

Natural remedies for dark eye circles:

Tomato paste

Mix 1 teaspoon of fresh tomato juice and ½ a teaspoon of lemon juice.  Apply it gently on the skin under your eyes with a cotton ball and let it rest for 10 minutes.  Rinse thoroughly with water.

Cucumber or Potato

You can apply any of these two on your eyes to diminish darkness and swelling.  Slice the cucumber or grate the potato before putting it onto the skin around your eyes.  You may also use the juice of either one of them and dab it on the skin with a cotton ball.

Tea bags

Simply put on a warm or cold teabag on each of your eye and let it rest there for a few minutes.

Almond oil

Regularly massaging the under eye area with almond oil is one of the best natural remedies for getting rid of under eye circles because it promotes circulation.  Leave the nourishing oil on your skin overnight.

Ice cubes

This will instantly reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around the eyes.

Crushed mint

Fresh mint has a cooling effect which immediately soothes tired eyes while getting rid of dark circles.  Put crushed mint leaves over the skin around your eyes and let them rest there for few minutes.

Tips:

Stop smoking!  Smoking contributes to poor circulation.

Drink around 8-10 glasses of water a day to promotes proper circulation of blood around your eyes.

Aside from the remedies mentioned, it is also important that you get enough sleep.

Be reminded that not all of these remedies will work for you.  So I suggest you try out a few and see which ones work best!

These remedies will not make your dark circles disappear overnight.  So, be patient and continue the natural treatment for at least a few weeks.

In certain individuals, dark circles can only be reduced but cannot be removed completely.

Dryness- Skin tends to become dry when your hands and feet are exposed to harsh chemicals or too much washing. This often leads to darkening.

Skin diseases- Certain skin diseases like psoriasis and eczema tend to make it look dark.

Lack of proper care- Our hands and feet are often neglected by us. We fail to care for them the way they deserve.

Be caring– Be gentle to your hands and feet. Avoid washing them with extremely hot water and refrain from rubbing them too hard. Go for manicures and pedicures (checkout www.vanitycube.in ). You can use soft loofahs and pumice stones on a regular basis to     clean them. You can go for a body polish once a month for better results.

Moisturize- Do not forget to keep your problem areas moisturized. Get yourself a good quality exfoliating cream which will not only hydrate your skin, but will also exfoliate it. Most importantly, always use a hand cream and foot cream before you go to bed. Alternately, try adding a few drops of glycerin, olive oil or jojoba oil to your regular cream and apply it on     your knuckles. This helps to keep your skin soft and at the same time,     reduces chances of drying out too early.

Sun protection- Use a sun-block cream before you step out in the sun. This offers protection and prevents further darkening.

 Treatments and home remedies

Exfoliation with lemon juice– Mix a spoon of lemon juice with sugar and rub your hands vigorously for about ten minutes. Do this every night before going to bed. The bleaching properties of lemon juice, together with the exfoliating properties of sugar would work wonders. Follow up with a hand cream.

The almond-curd treatment– Mix crushed almonds with curd and apply the paste on your knuckles. Rub for 10 minutes. This practice, done every day, helps to reduce darkness and makes skin fairer.

Moisturize with milk cream– Mix the content of a vitamin E capsule with some milk cream. Apply on your dry knuckles and wait for some time. Then, rub it for about 5 minutes and wash off. It softens dry skin. You may add a pinch of turmeric to benefit from the antiseptic and skin-lightening properties of turmeric.

Lemon and honey pack– Use equal quantities of lemon juice and honey to make a soothing and moisturizing pack. Apply it regularly to get rid of dark knuckles.

Be regular in your skin care regimen. Having a full body bleach or bleaching the problem area take care of dark knuckles temporarily.
