Any thoughts on Karen Strassman? She played Olivia, Anna (of all kinds) and Hana!
Outside of it, she’s the current voice for Rouge the Bat, Aigis from Persona 3 and Nanako from Persona 4.
I've gotta put this out there, because any time I bring up an actor/actress who isn't totally left wing, I get messages telling me why said actor/actress is the spawn of Satan and I shouldn't like them. It happened with Amanda Miller (Someone who isn't even right wing) and it happened the last time I brought up Karen Strassman.
So again: I literally do not care about an actor/actress's politics, whether they're left or right wing. I care that they're not harming someone (i.e. Daman Mills) or being an asshole (Helena Taylor). This isn't a left or right thing, I just simply DO NOT care about someone's politics. And if people want to block me for saying that, that's totally fine and I have no hard feelings.
ANYWHO.
I like Karen! I like her role as Olivia (Who I'm surprised was pretty popular for a while and then just dropped off the face of the earth when it came to alts), I like her work as Anna... And while I actually don't like Hana's character, I do like her work as Hana. And outside of that, I adore her Nanako (as someone who got deeply invested when I played P4Golden), and I actually think she's a good Rouge, even though Kathleen Delaney was more my favorite. And I can't wait until Mozu gets added to FEH. Something tells me she'll show up on the next Fates banner.
Performance! I think her performance as Olivia between her pegasus alt and her Festival Arts alt is interesting; in the former, she's much more shy and timid (gives me big Fluttershy vibes), while she seems to feel very comfortable and more confident in the latter. It's an interesting distinctive tonal switch between the two. For the two variations of Anna in FEH so far (Commander Anna and Awakening Anna), there's a difference in their emotions that conveys what is the most important reason for each Anna to be earning money: For the commander, it's to keep funding the Order of Heroes, so she's a bit more serious and doesn't really talk as much about the money itself, more about the Order's funds in general. For Fates, it's to personally get rich, so she usually sounds mischievous and charismatic, to draw people in. I think it would actually be fun someday to have a full Anna banner as an April Fool's joke with the Annas that aren't in the game yet: Tellius Anna, Fates Anna, Fodlan Anna, etc. And finally, Hana. I think her voice for Hana is good, but... Something happened to the way she was pronouncing Sakura's name between her Ninja alt and her Valentine's alt. In her Ninja alt, she pronounces it correctly, but in her Valentine's alt, she goes "Sa-Koo-Ra". But then in her Ninja alt, she also pronounces Kagero's name weirdly too. I blame less of that on Karen and more of that on the voice director; they're the ones who are supposed to know the correct pronunciations of the names and should be guiding the VAs on how to say them right. Still a good portrayal for Hana though, she's energetic and a little spicy sometimes. Just makes me wish her support in Fates wasn't so unreasonable ("How dare you make Lady Sakura cry by getting kidnapped!" Like bro, WHAT?! Corrin watched their surrogate father get bombarded with arrows he shielded them from, then get slashed. How is any of that a literal child's fault?!).
I think she's a good fit for all three of the characters. Just... fix her pronunciation issues as Hana and we're all good.
However, when it comes to range... Look, as a general actress, I know that Karen has range. Her sultry voice for Rouge compared to her child voice for Nanako are pretty decent. But in FEH, I'll be honest: you can pretty easily tell that Karen voices all three, and Hana and Anna sound pretty similar to each other. So for FEH, I'll say the range is not really there.
Overall, I'd put Karen at an 8/10. I still don't know why they replaced her in Engage (And I don't know if that means that Monica will be playing child Anna when she gets added or if Karen will take over as child Anna), but as an actress I enjoy her work.

"I've always thought Jotunheim - and its people by extension - incredibly resilient in that respect." The Crown Princess commented reasonably enough with the ghost of a smile on her face. "I remember as a child learning about the Allied Realms with my sisters and feeling such sympathy for your Realm at the time." Freya did not mention it, but the feeling still persisted - perhaps worse now that the war had ended and so much needed mending. "I recall I was intent on giving up my favorite blanket at the time and wouldn't eat with the intention that if it was so cold here in Jotunheim, surely people here would need it more than I." Freya couldn't help but chuckle at the memory of her childhood - one of the few times she could remember being allowed to truly be a child. "I wouldn't cease until Mother came, hushing me and explaining how your people are - unlike us - built for the cold. That you'd be fine with or without my little offerings." Her smile became somewhat restrained at the memory of her Mother.. before completely vanishing as she gazed down at her current unwritten letter.
"Oh, Elements preserve me.." The Phoenix groaned in irritation, letting out an additional hiss as her hair - and by extension her feathers - puffed up a bit. "Vanaheimr. I completely forgot about Vanaheimr." She grumped, lowering her face in her palms and leaning back until they rested in her hair. "I.. really don't want to be all nice and courtly with those cowards, much less see them at my coronation.. but needs must." She'd mutter with a sigh before looking to her Mate in hopes of aid.
"If you had to, what's the most passive aggressive way you might tell someone they're invited to a coronation?"
It was over. It was finally over. It had been hundreds of years yet somehow - by some mercy of the Norns - the one-eyed tyrant was in chains while his monster of a spawn lay dead upon a bloodied battlefield. Arrangements would soon be made in order to repair the damage that had been done but for now... all anyone wanted was to celebrate. The King of the Phoenix along with his daughters had arranged festivities for all the Realms to come and join and it - was - PACKED. King Dagaz and his eldest daughter Freya stood before the gateway that served as a portal to the other Realms. "King Laufey! It's a pleasure to see you and your sons could attend!" The rather dorky King would greet while the crown Princess simply nodded along, a brief flicker of her lashes allowing her a glimpse at Laufey's youngest Son. She quickly glanced away to avoid drawing attention to herself, easily hiding the light dusting of a blush upon her cheeks.
Loki wasn’t exactly in the partying mood since he was exhausted from the last battle. He and many other seidrmandrs had been working together to counter Odin’s power. It was draining. Loki had managed to get some rest afterwards but he still felt like he could sleep for at least a week. He was here at his father’s request however since it would seem odd if he didn’t attend.
Because of his exhaustion he barely glanced at the Phoenix Princess although he would bow politely along with his brothers as the two kings exchanged pleasantries. Loki remained silent however.
Despite his exhaustion he had dressed for the occasion. He wore his finest silk waist wrap and fur cloak. He’d adorned himself with golden chains and emeralds as was tradition for special occasions. There were even rings on his horn and beads in his hair that chimed softly when he moved.

Guide to the Edda
I am by no means an expert, but I AM a proud literature buff 💪 📢
The Poetic Edda is a collection of Norse myths divided into four parts:
The Prologue: differing from the other parts of the Edda in terms of structure, subject and information, the Prologue relates Norse stories to those of the Graeco-Romans, hoping to make it's reader take it more seriously (the Edda was written down in the time of Christianity entering Iceland, so this isn't too surprising). It's unclear whether the Prologue was a part of the original texts, or if it was added only with the scribing of the Edda itself, in order to relate to a medieval Christian audience by drawing connections to familiar Christian concepts.
The Gylfaginning: the "core" of the Edda. It is our best source of the Creation story, struggles of Gods and events leading to Ragnarok. It is written as a dialogue between King Gylfi of Sweden and three god-like figures. Gylfi disguies himself as a traveller and journeys to visit the Æsir (the Norse Gods). The three god-like figures are three manifestations of Odin, who Gylfi questions on the order of the Norse Pantheon and the formation of the world.
The Skaldskaparmal: the stories in this section of the Edda give mostly background and explanation for references in Old Norse verse. The Skaldskaparmal gives us stories of heroes, dragon slayers and whatnot.
The List of Metres/Hattatal: undoubtedly composed by Snorri Sturluson himself as an attempt to make himself amicable with the Norwegian King, the Hattatal is a work of 102 stanzas that demonstrate poetics metres and devices. It's a pretty obscure section and is often left out of translations.
The Prose Edda serves as a "how to read Norse poetry" guide for medieval scholars. It's more or less just a couple hundred pages of "here's what's up"
Æsir
The Norse Gods are separated into two groups: the Æsir and the Vanir, who are pretty consistently at war with each other until they eventually fuse into just one group, taking on the name "Æsir" to mean all Norse Gods. The Æsir live in Asgard and rarely quarrel over humans or heroes. They don't like being immortal, either.
The Æsir commonly represent war.
Ex) Odin, Thor, Týr, Frigg
Vanir
The Vanir are Gods of fertility, wisdom and prophecy. Their home is Vanaheimr. After the Æsir-Vanir War, they become a subgroup of the Æsir.
Ex) Freya, Freyr, Njord
Other Creatures
Giants/Jötnar
The Jötnar live in contrast to the Gods (sometimes called "Anti-Gods"); Loki is often considered a Jötunn. There are many names for these entities (Trolls, risi, gýgr, tröllkona, þursar). The connotations for Jötnar become less cool and more evil as Christianity enters the picture, and these beings are not necessarily very large, as the name "giant" might have you expect.
Ex) Hrungnir, Fárbauti, Gerðr
Elves
The Edda mentiones Elves mostly in passing. Though their presence is scarce, it is implied that they held a lot of importance in original Scandinavian myths. There are different types of Elves, such as light and dark, and there are place names connected to them.
As in most mythologies including Elves, they are beautiful, dangerous and magical creatures.
Dwarves
Dwarves are pretty negative creatures in the Norse myth. They were the first of all creatures who live in the flesh of the giant Ymir. The Gods, for some reason unbeknownst to us, changed the nature of the Dwarves so that they "assumed the likeness of men" and started dwelling below the ground.
The reason for changing them may have to do with smithing. The Gods were the earliest master smiths, but abandoned forging and left it to the Dwarves.
Valkyries
Odin's gang of Valkryies decide which fallen Norse heroes are allowed into Valhalla (Odin's hall in Asgard, where the most prominent of the Gods are allowed their own halls, such as Freya or Frigg, etc). Valkryies sometimes appear as lovers of heroes or mortals, even as royalty.
Ex) Brynhildr, Sigrún, Göndul
Monsters
From here on out, classification would take me all goddamn day. Besides the aforementioned, you have your serpents, dragons, lindworms, beasts of battle, draugrs, nixies, selkolla, lyngbakr, hafgufa and hamingja.

And now for something completely different: I tried my hand at making a Vanaheimr themed resplendent costume because I hate Yoshiku's designs so badly, but some of the elements have potential if only a different artist went at it.
Camilla is a kind of boring choice for this theme but also easy to work with because the shapes of her outfit match the main OCs for this book for the most part. I kind of want to attempt some more of these with less obvious character choices.

I stumbled upon well written loki fanfics made by the same author and I’m not one to gatekeep such wonderful stories woven by such beautiful words from an author who knows how to build a good character, chemistry, plot, and a world. These two masterpieces are written by GoldTrimmedSpectacles on ao3.
The first one is Litklœði it is a hanahaki disease au, and it’s not just any other hanahaki disease au. This made me shed multiple tears, the way this was written is so perfect. Here’s an excerpt.
“And the sire promised that he would spend the rest of his days searching for the cure of the flower disease which took his friend. And he did find this cure, but not without a cost,” Frigga explained and stroked Loki’s head as the illusions vanished. “But now, when one is fraught with flowers in their chest, a völva can remove these flowers with seiðr – saving the victim’s life and removing the vines from their lungs.”
The Allmother paused and looked at your small, childish face. Her smile was kind and full, but her eyes lay empty and sad. The knowledge of yet to come lay heavy on her features.
“However, be warned my child, that with the removal of lung flowers the feelings of unrequited love will be removed too. As will any remaining trace of friendship. So be careful how you give your heart, my dear. You may never know what you could lose.”
The second one is Seiðmaðr and I’m just gonna quote the synopsis so I won’t spoil the whole thing to you guys.
Amidst the fallen brethren of the Vanaheimr war against Muspelheim, the dark prince of Asgard finds himself lost and riddled with amnesia. His words are barbed, his tongue is gilded and his eyes are sharp. He has no recollection of his name or family, but he soon comes to realise that perhaps it is best for the past to be shadowed by the future, and that life as a beloved commoner is better than life as a miserable prince.
I cried because of two things, it was a beautifully written piece that left me wanting more— literally because here comes the second reason- it was unfinished. But fret not, please do read it it was still wonderful while it lasted, it’ll be worth so much your time I swear to whoever gods do you believe in.
I read these two, in one sitting this lovely afternoon when I was supposed to be at the cemetery. I must say it was all worth it.

A Heiðelm fic, by me :-)
Summary:
Elm hates Heiðr, goddess of Vanaheimr.
Hates how she glows, both literally and in spirit.
It draws others to her - it brings to mind that mortal phrase, “like a moth to a flame”.
And she is only too glad to radiate such warmth, having been given a second chance at life as she has.
Every new person she meets is a blessing, someone Heiðr finds herself grateful she was able to know.
She’s… too perfect.
It’s bittersweet and onesided, a short fic at 824 words :)

𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐘𝐍  𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐋  𝐀𝐁𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐄𝐒  𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐍  𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐓.
These  headcanons  were  made  from  my  research  of  the  Vanir  &  the  magic  they  are  capable  of  doing  ,  as  this  blog  writes  her  being  from  Vanaheimr.   Her  magic  is  mostly  based  around  healing  during  battle  ,  &  adding  a  sort  of  buff  to  warriors  in  battle  she  fights  alongside.   This  comes  from  a  very  close  relationship  with  the  cosmos  that  make  up  where  she  draws  her  magic  from.   Some  of  these  abilities  take  more  effort  than  others  ,  so  some  require  more  out  of  her  which  makes  her  less  likely  to  attempt  to  do  them  unless  absolutely  necessary.
Tumblr media
𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐄  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐅𝐔𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄. The  Vanir  have  been  said  to  be  able  to  use  their  magic  to  be  able  to  look  into  the  future  ,  something  that  helped  in  the  Aesire  Vanir  War  between  her  people  &  those  who  live  on  Asgard.   It’s  an  ability  that  she  will  use  more  than  some  of  her  more  taxing  abilities  ,  but  she’s  always  quick  to  remind  people  that  seeing  the  future  doesn’t  mean  it’s  a  confirmed  thing.   Anything  she  sees  can  be  changed  ,  as  a  single  choice  made  after  seeing  that  point  can  alter  the  outcome.   That  being  said  ,  attempting  to  foresee  the  future  is  not  something  she  was  always  succeed  in.   In  order  to  do  so  ,  she  needs  to  tap  into  the  Norns  &  Fates  ,  asking  they  favor  her  &  allow  her  a  glimpse  into  the  future.   It  requires  a  strong  connection  with  the  force  they  draw  their  magical  power  from  ,  hence  her  strong  desire  to  use  her  abilities  only  for  good.   She  taps  in  ,  asks  that  they  show  her  what  she  seeks  ,  &  if  they  allow  it  ,  she  will  see  something.
There  is  also  the  chance  that  she  will  be  sent  visions  in  the  form  of  dreams.   While  Gods  do  not  always  need  sleep  ,  she  sometimes  takes  the  opportunity  to  keep  her  energy  levels  nice  &  full.   She  still  does  not  sleep  every  night  ,  but  on  nights  that  she  does  ,  is  sometimes  brought  visions  of  the  future.   She  has  no  control  over  what  it  is  she  sees  in  these  dreams  ,  &  the  meaning  of  them  is  not  always  clear.
𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐏𝐔𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐄  𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄. This  ability  she  does  not  use  very  often  ,  as  it  requires  an  immense  amount  of  energy  for  her  to  pull  off  a  longer  span  of  time  than  a  minute.   Even  a  minute  will  leave  her  tired.   She  does  however  utilize  this  in  combat.   Using  her  manipulation  of  time  ,  she  can  set  herself  &  her  opponent  back  a  few  seconds  at  a  time  to  avoid  a  blow  or  to  course  correct.   She  still  uses  this  sparingly  ,  as  using  it  too  many  times  in  a  fight  can  drain  her  ,  &  she  could  use  her  magic  in  more  efficient  ways.   She  relies  heavily  on  her  combat  training  received  since  arriving  on  Asgard  ,  only  using  this  ability  when  absolutely  necessary.
𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄  𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐃𝐄𝐀𝐃. Another  ability  she  does  not  use  very  often  ,  there  have  only  been  a  few  times  she  has  attempted  &  succeeded  this  feat.   It  requires  expert  skill  in  the  magic  she  uses  ,  &  as  with  most  taboo  magics  like  this  ,  comes  at  a  price  every  time  you  use  it.   Every  time  she  uses  this  ability  ,  she  removes  years  from  the  life  the  fates  determined  her  to  live.   This  is  not  a  cost  she  throws  around  willy  nilly.   By  the  time  she  learned  how  to  do  this  ,  she  already  had  a  family  &  had  become  a  mother.   Giving  up  too  many  years  could  mean  taking  her  away  from  them.   Because  of  this  ,  she  has  only  used  it  when  there  was  absolutely  no  other  choice  ,  &  has  resulted  in  her  being  bed  ridden  for  days  after  to  recover  from  the  exertion.
𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄  𝐏𝐄𝐎𝐏𝐋𝐄  𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐔𝐋𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄. A  temporary  feat  she  can  accomplish  ,  this  one  is  an  ability  she  is  known  to  use  in  combat  if  she  isn’t  engaging  in  battle.   For  a  time  depending  on  the  magical  energy  flowing  through  her  ,  she  can  grant  someone  invulnerability  in  the  battlefield.   This  comes  in  handy  quite  often  ,  but  requires  Sigyn  to  constantly  focus  her  energy  on  the  person  she  is  casting  on.   This  requires  her  to  have  a  bodyguard  ,  as  if  her  concentration  is  broken  ,  the  invulnerability  is  no  longer  in  standing.
𝐂𝐀𝐔𝐒𝐄  𝐃𝐀𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐄/𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐌. Fairly  self  explanatory  ,  Sigyn  has  the  ability  to  use  her  magical  ability  to  inflict  damage  on  a  person  or  a  place.   This  was  used  in  the  Aesir  Vanir  War  to  inflict  damage  on  Asgard.   This  ,  while  an  easy  ability  of  her  to  use  in  battle  ,  is  something  she  prefers  not  to  use  ,  as  inflicting  harm  is  something  she  doesn’t  desire  to  use  her  magical  abilities  for.   She  firmly  believes  she  was  given  these  abilities  to  do  good  ,  not  evil  ,  &  struggles  with  using  her  magic  to  harm  people.   Sigyn  ,  while  it’s  easy  to  believe  is  not  perfect  though.   She  has  used  this  ability  when  someone  she  cares  about  is  being  harmed.   She  has  not  killed  anyone  with  this  ability.   But  she  has  taken  it  a  little  too  far  when  one  of  her  children  was  being  harmed. 𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂  𝐅𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑. It’s  said  in  Nordic  lore  that  Sigyn  is  known  to  be  a  “magical  fetter”  for  Loki.   With  some  digging  ,  I  have  found  that  essentially  this  means  that  she  can  take  magic  abilities  away  from  individuals  ,  &  I  was  also  finding  that  this  symbolizes  a  strong  bond  between  her  &  Loki.   With  this  knowledge  ,  I’ve  decided  this  means  a  couple  things.
She  obtained  this  ability  after  marrying  Loki.   It  was  a  gift  bestowed  to  her  when  she  was  granted  Godhood  ,  for  her  unfailing  loyalty  to  not  only  her  husband  ,  but  to  all  of  Asgard  despite  not  being  from  there.   By  now  ,  her  &  Loki  had  already  become  close  enough  for  their  magical  aura’s  to  bond  ,  but  her  Godhood  allowed  something  else  to  happen.   Not  only  limited  to  Loki  …  She  can  use  this  ability  to  temporarily  remove  the  ability  for  one  to  use  magic.   This  is  an  incredibly  difficult  skill  for  her  to  accomplish  ,  &  also  requires  her  to  work  against  the  person  she  is  attempting  to  remove  the  magic  from.   If  she  is  stronger  than  them  ,  she  can  overcome  them  and  take  it.   She  is  not  yet  powerful  enough  to  remove  it  permanently.
𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐎𝐍  𝐎𝐅  𝐇𝐎𝐏𝐄. This  one  is  an  original  ability  I  have  been  working  on  ,  &  we’ll  call  it  her  epic  move  if  you  will.   Sign  ,  through  her  relationship  with  light  ,  has  been  deemed  by  the  Fates  &  Norns  “The  Champion  of  Light”.   This  has  granted  her  with  a  unique  ability  that  has  been  known  to  turn  the  tides  in  battles  the  Asgardians  have  fought.   Should  she  be  in  possession  of  her  staff  ,  &  allowed  to  complete  the  incantation  ,  she  will  be  allowed  to  summon  a  massive  beacon  of  the  same  aura  that  courses  through  her  veins.   A  bright  beacon  of  gold  &  white  light  seeming  to  rain  on  her  &  the  army  she  stands  with  ,  that  serves  as  a  rallying  boost  of  morale.   Where  the  men  were  ready  to  accept  defeat  ,  are  now  invigorated  with  the  drive  &  will  to  fight  on  &  win  the  battle.   It  is  this  ability  ,  that  is  the  reason  for  her  dedication  to  maintain  being  a  source  of  light  in  the  world  &  not  inflicting  harm  with  her  magic.
𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆  𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂. Taught  from  a  young  age  ,  Sigyn  is  well  versed  in  many  forms  of  healing  magics.   From  physical  injuries  ,  to  some  illnesses  &  even  magical  damage  and  injuries.   This  requires  her  to  constantly  use  her  magic  while  she  does  this  ,  so  she  has  to  do  these  sessions  in  shifts  if  the  injury  or  illness  is  too  great.   It  drains  her  energy  at  a  moderate  rate  ,  so  if  she  is  healing  something  severe  ,  it’s  an  all  day  task.   She  is  known  to  spend  days  in  the  war  camps  healing  men  when  she  can.
𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍  𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂  &  𝐏𝐎𝐂𝐊𝐄𝐓  𝐃𝐈𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍. As  the  relationship  between  her  &  Loki  grew  ,  he  began  teaching  her  some  of  the  things  that  he  knew  in  order  to  help  grow  her  skills.   The  two  things  he  taught  her  being  illusion  magic  ,  &  how  to  construct  &  store  items  in  a  small  pocket  dimension  to  store  items  safely  away  &  retrieve  them  quickly.   She  uses  these  often  ,  incorporating  them  into  much  of  her  day  to  day  life  wherever  it  has  it’s  use.
