🗯 Argumento: Jeanne y Simon Marwan son dos gemelos que viven en Canadá cuya madre Nawal, tras pasar sus últimos días sin hablar, acaba de fallecer. En el acto de apertura del testamento, el notario les da dos cartas que deben ser entregadas a un padre al que creían muerto y a un hermano cuya existencia desconocían. Jeanne decide entonces emprender un viaje al Líbano para intentar localizarlos y encontrar respuestas a su existencia, pero Simon no quiere saber nada del tema... Basada en una obra de teatro de Wajdi Mouawad.

SUBLIME CINEMA #558 - INCENDIES

One of Villeneuve’s most celebrated movies, and still ranking near the top of the IMDB - taking place in a nameless country but we can guess Lebanon. Regarding a certain futility of being born into a religion, only finding yourself hated for it, without having the choice to begin with. 

The film has been called pitiless. Villeneuve has dealt often in his films with pitilessness - and with coldness. His Polytechnique was almost an affront, personally, I found it almost offensive. I saw it once and never need to see it again. 

But Incendies has a point, and it makes it well.
