What Is A Rotary Vane Pump And How Does It Operate?
A rotary vane pump is a type of positive displacement pump that uses rotating vanes to move fluid. The amount of fluid that can be pumped depends on the size of the pump and its speed.
They're more common in industrial environments than at home, but you might have one in your car—it's responsible for delivering fuel from the tank to your engine.
A rotary vane pump is a type of positive displacement pump
A rotary vane pump is a type of positive displacement pump. It is used for high-flow rates, small difference in pressure, and low viscosity liquids.
A positive displacement pump works by compressing a fluid to perform work on the outside world. A liquid is drawn into the pump via suction and compressed in the main cylinder or rotor to raise its pressure above that of the surroundings.
The pressurized liquid then passes through an outlet port where it adds energy to whatever device it powers (such as an engine) before being exhausted into your waste water system. In contrast, other types of pumps—like centrifugal pumps—use kinetic energy (motion) to produce work by pushing fluids through their plumbing systems at high speeds; this means they can handle liquids with higher viscosities than those which can be processed by positive displacement devices like rotary vane pumps.
The rotary vane pump is also capable of moving gases, which makes it a good choice for applications where you need to move air or other gases around an industrial facility.
Vane pumps are available in a variety of pressure ranges
Vane pumps are available in a variety of pressure ranges. The pressure range depends on the application and the size of the pump. Pressure ranges can vary from a few pounds per square inch up to thousands of pounds per square inch.
The type of pressure pump you choose will depend on the application. For example, if you need to move water from a well to your home, you’ll want a low-pressure pump that can work with lower water levels. If you need to move large amounts of water over long distances, then a high-pressure pump may be best for your needs.
Another thing to consider is whether you need a submersible pump or an above-ground pump. Submersible pumps are designed for use in wells, ponds and pools. They can be used for other applications, but they aren’t as durable or efficient as above-ground pumps.
Some models include a mechanism that allows for automatic adjustment
Some models include a mechanism that allows for automatic adjustment. This is called a "variable speed drive," and it's usually controlled remotely by the user.
For example, you might be able to adjust your pump's speed on your smartphone or laptop computer using an app, which will then change the flow rate of water through your house! This is an example of how technology can make life easier for us, but it also has its downsides. For instance, if you don't have reliable access to power, this type of system won't do you any good.
Conclusion
When you’re ready to buy a rotary vane pump, take a look at the various models available from companies like Minimax. These pumps are reliable and efficient, and they can help save you money on your utility bills.

Well shit!
I got ‘er home last night. All new brake system from tip to tail, everything but new drums. Vacuum booster / master cylinder, wheel cylinders, brake lines, etc. New edelbrock carburetor, fuel lines, filter, and fuel cell. She fires up and idles like a modern rig now. Brakes work pretty well even if there’s no weight on the ass end, she’s a bit squirrelly when I stab the brakes or the gas.
Drive her home over 5 miles from the shop to the house with no issues. Then tried to drive a few blocks to the pub but she crapped out in the parking lot and needed a jump start to fire up again. 😤
First thing this morning I went out and…. Do any of you know how cold blooded these old IH motors are? Some have their own cold start rituals you MUST adhere to if you want them to start. Sometimes that means tap the gas pedal twice, sometimes 3 times and hold it down, sometimes it means wait until it warmer than 40* outside, and sometimes it just means holding your tongue in just the right position.
Ok so first thing this morning it was 28* out and she fired right up after her preferred 3 pumps of the gas pedal. Sat and idled for an hour with help from the electric choke on the new carb. Then died in the intersection and didn’t want to fire up again. SHIT! She eventually did catch and I stabbed the skinny pedal and, on the almost frozen asphalt, drifted sideways through the intersection to the parking lot I was aiming for and died again. DAMMIT. Got a jump start and let her sit and idle for another hour or better with zero issues. I had a few drinks with breakfast and told stories for a while then decided I had better get the truck home, across the street from the pub. Once again she died in the street 100 yards from driveway. Cranked and cranked but she didn’t want to catch. Just as I saw the cop turn right from the left hand lane into the gas station and thoughts of talking to a cop with whisky breath at 10am the motor caught! I stabbed the stupid pedal launched sideways around the corner and into my driveway.
The joys of owning vintage farm equipment eh?

The S282 from the train sim game Derail Valley, interpreted as a prop built in the first two or three seasons of Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends.
I tried to imagine how a prop builder would actually put something like this together on a children's TV series budget. Like the other original props, this one uses kitbashed parts from Marklin model trains as well as plastic card bodies and sculpted faces. The chassis is taken from a Marklin BR55 0-8-0 and the pilot and trailing wheels, and cylinders, modified from a Marklin BR78.
There are some design changes to make it just look more Thomas, like the thomas style headlamp, the flat prominent buffer beam, and the blocky red-sided footplate. The geometry has been simplified as it needed to be made out of folded, bent, and cut plastic card.
More details and alternate versions under the cut:
The actual locomotive as it appears in Derail Valley: Simulator. Note the much larger cylinders. They could have built more proportional cylinders--they did so when they built Murdoch in season 7, but I wanted it to fit in better with Henry and Gordon.
The valve gear shown is accurate to the BR55, not to the BR78 Gordon and Henry use nor the game model (which has much thicker rods)
Other details, like the air pump (not needed on sodor, which seems to use vacuum brakes), bell, and dynamo (again, not used on sodor) have been removed. The ladder detail on the running board has been simplified. A cowcatcher is not needed, but i kept it as more or less the only obviously foreign feature of the engine. The electric headlamp on the top of the S282's smokebox has been replaced with a white
The S282's tender is a four wheel tender on a pair of freight car trucks. The thomas version is a six wheel tender based on Gordon and Henry's.
The livery was changed to make it feel more Sodor. The sides of the running board were painted red, and red lining was added to the boiler bands, cab, and tender. And 282 was given as a number on the tender, in red-lined yellow text. The wheels retain the red paint of the model that contributed their wheels, but dulled a bit by weathering. The game model has black wheels with white walls and red counterweights, but that didn't look right with the small counterweights on most of the wheels and the one single large counterweight on the number three axle.
With so many red accents, the loco bears more than a passing resemblance to Hiro from the cgi series, though this is only a coincidence.
Here's a variant with a game-accurate livery. No striping, and the wheel spokes are black with white walls and red counterweights.
Here are squeaky clean versions of both liveries.
and here are NWR green, blue, and red variants. I actually made a texture pack for the previous major version of Derail Valley, before they updated the model and the UV maps changed. (obviously my texture pack did not go so far as to add faces)
Final variant, the ES&DT version. [sniff sniff] can you hear a guitar riff slowly building tempo?

Today I feel ambitious. And hungry.
I woke up hours before sunrise and never looked back. For no particular reason, I was very hungry. As soon as I got dressed I made a terrific breakfast sandwich and a big mug of coffee.
After eating, I started laundry. Getting clothes cleaned, folded, and put away always makes me happy. It also made me hungry again. Before the rinse cycle finished, I prepared breakfast #2.
At sunrise, the dogs and I went to the airport dog park. There is no snow here now. White frost covered the grass. I thought it looked nice. I'll take winter any way I can get it.
We walked two miles. Oliver loves going to the park. However, he wasn't a fan of that second loop. With his hoarse-sounding bark and disdain for extended exercise, one might think he's a two pack a day smoker. He'll sleep the rest of the morning.
On the way home my filthy truck needed gas. More things that make me happy: a full tank of gas and a clean vehicle. Without thinking, I ordered a car wash code on the self-service pump. The dogs were still with me!
As I entered the bay of the automatic wash, the whining started. I overlooked that Ella HATES the car wash. Then I learned that little Sulley, on his first trip ever to a car wash, HATES it even more than Ella does. He tried to hide in the glove box, under my seat, under the passenger seat, and even in one of the cup holders. Had he not peed on every tree in the park earlier he might have done it in the truck. There was no way to speed up or cancel the wash.
When we got home all three dogs ran inside the house and stayed far away from me.
That walk had made me hungry again. Eating a third breakfast would be gross. So let's call it brunch. This time I ate some soup I had made and saved in the freezer some time ago.
Getting back to housework, I vacuumed inside the truck and washed off the nose prints that covered the rear windows. With clean windows the truck is remarkably bright inside.
Now the laundry is done. I cleaned more around the house. No joke, I'm getting a little excited to put my lunch dishes (meal #4) in the dishwasher, because it will then be full enough for me to start it.
At that point I'll be ready for a nap. My best naps happen when the dishwasher is running.

Warnings: Neighbour!Benni, stalker!pervert!Benni, NSFW, obsession, masturbation, toys, underwear stealing, kidnap, blackmail, swearing
—
• Neighbour!Benni who doesn’t really care when someone new moves into the community. She barely notices the moving trucks, only acknowledging them when she left for work.
• Neighbour!Benni who first sets eyes on you when she sees you tending to the weeds outside, a sun hat covering your pretty face. She’s instantly hooked; you’re such a cute thing.
• Neighbour!Benni who doesn’t introduce herself at first. She’s a bit nervous — just the thought of you makes her palms sweaty.
• Neighbour!Benni who at last says hi, when bumping into you when bringing in her shopping. She’s a bit awkward, but manages to pique your interest after turning on the charm.
• Neighbour!Benni who you often see coming and going from work, often carrying a variety of different photography equipment. You ask her what they’re for, and she tells you that’s her job, and she was working on a project from home.
• Neighbour!Benni who’s secretly using the cameras and stands to take photos of you through your window, adding them to her collections in a box under her bed.
• Neighbour!Benni who’s intentions turn vile when she looks out of the window, only to see you getting undressed. How stupid of you not to close your blinds. Don’t you know there are creeps around?
• Neighbour!Benni who snaps plenty of pictures, her heart beating at the speed of light. She’s all fired up, cunt throbbing for you.
• Neighbour!Benni who at first resists the urge, but after you kiss her innocently on the cheek for helping you change your tyre, she can’t help but bring out those perverted photos, tugging her sweatpants off in shame.
• Neighbour!Benni who tries not to enjoy herself as she pumps her fingers in and out of her sopping pussy, gaze trained on your naked body in photo form. She’s imagining how well she could fuck you, how she’d make you cry from overstimulation, her lips sucking harsh mark on your beautiful skin.
• Neighbour!Benni who cums with a groan, burying her face into her pillow. She’s ashamed, but just the thought of you gets her all worked up again.
• Neighbour!Benni who learns your timetable perfectly, knowing when you leave and arrive back at your house.
• Neighbour!Benni who uses this to her advantage, breaking into your house almost every day, just to help you out a bit, maybe wash up or vacuum clean. You do work so hard, after all. She’s not surprised you don’t have time to clean up.
• Neighbour!Benni who ends up doing your laundry one day, but stops dead in her tracks when she sees a pair of your underwear. There were splotches of white on them, and she knew exactly what you’d been doing in them.
• Neighbour!Benni you doesn’t think as she shoves them in her pocket, clenching her thighs together. She can’t stop thinking about them as she finishes up the laundry, only to speed back to her own house.
• Neighbour!Benni who holds your soiled underwear to her nose as she works her glistening cunt, eyes rolling back each time that tangy scent hits her nostrils.
• Neighbour!Benni who, after cumming, sighs, getting tired of her fingers. They’re just not good enough to keep her satisfied.
• Neighbour!Benni who explores your room more the next time she invades, only to gawk at the treasure trove she finds under your bed. Sex toys galore; you truly were a little minx.
• Neighbour!Benni who completely ignores the concerning BDSM material, too in love to think about you in any other way but a cute little thing.
• Neighbour!Benni who hates herself as she fucks herself on your bed, roughly slamming a dildo in and out of her pussy. Just the thought of you using it before makes her moan, pretending it’s your cock or strap on.
• Neighbour!Benni who swears she can feel your hand on her neck, your voice in her ear, telling her how pretty she looks under you. She throws her head back, clenching around the dildo as she cums again and again, an image of your naked body painted in her mind.
• Neighbour!Benni who cries out when she hears you gasp. Fuck, you’re at the door.
• Neighbour!Benni who whimpers an apology, expecting you to call the police.
• Neighbour!Benni who doesn’t realise you’re not an innocent little thing as you make yourself out to be. You’ve got a much more sinister side to you…
• Neighbour!Benni who’s speechless when you grin, hand sneaking down to her clit to help her along.
• “Such a slut, aren’t we? Using my dildo to get off? And I thought you were a gentlewoman.”
• “Go on, babe. Ride it just like that.”
• “Ah, ah, ah. Don’t you dare pull away. Unless you want me to report you. Now spread your legs wider.”
• Neighbour!Benni who you so devilishly blackmail into becoming your sex slave, living in your basement like a pathetic dog, collar around her neck, chains keeping her from leaving.
• Neighbour!Benni who didn’t care, servicing your every need with a needy smile on her lips. She doesn’t care that you’re probably some kind of serial killer and she’s your next victim. She doesn’t care that she’s probably never getting out of here.
• Neighbour!Benni who only cares about making you happy, even if that means never seeing the light of day again.

2023 Bahama Cruise, Part 5. March 14. Boat keeping while hunkered down at Lee Stocking Island.
We motorsailed to Lee Stocking from Staniel Cay on Sunday March 12. On Monday we did boat keeping. “Boat” boatkeeping on a boat is slightly different than “house” housekeeping on shore. Yes, Nancy still sweeps, vacuums and wipes everything down. But “Boat keeping” involves a lot of maintenance issues also.
The day starts out for me before sunrise. Listening to Chris Parker “The sailors weather guru” on a Tescan Single Side Band receiver. I can run a small antenna wire up the rigging. Or connect the radio antenna via a copper wire to a stay inside the cabin as is seen in the photo. Reception is so good here with Chris transmitting from Tampa Florida. I can just use the rabbit ear on the Tescan radio.
Nancy had sopped up 2 gallons of fluid out of the bilge while we were waiting on the fuel dock Sunday. There was definitely diesel in what she pulled out of the bilge. She double bagged it up and left it in the trash bin at Staniel. They burn the trash there, you might see a darker black plume of smoke if you are anchored nearby.
Monday morning we checked the bilge and found it full again. So we sucked it out this time with our oil pump. Looks like diesel, and feels like diesel.
We thought we had a diesel tank leak. Lars just bought a boat of similar age. His diesel tank ended up having a leak due to corrosion, and had to be replaced. Could we be having the same issue? Or am I jumping to conclusions?
If it is a micro leak, then we could be heading back to the states in a hurry. Will we have enough diesel on deck to fill up the tank as we motor home while it is leaking? Where do we put all the diesel that leaks?
The hatch over the bilge is open in the photo above. After we suck out the fluid in the bilge, I go hunting for the leak. Need to check the engine oil, so the engine is the first logical place to check for a diesel leak. To access the engine, I have to remove the companionway steps. Which means Nancy either has to stay in the cockpit or cabin for the duration. She decided to stay in the cockpit.
Removed the steps, then removed the engine cover. Oil checks good, no sign of a diesel leak. Damn, nothing is easy.
Which means, the bedding in the aft cabin gets pulled out and piled in the main cabin. Then at least one of the two mattresses in the aft cabin comes out into the main cabin.
After accessing the fuel tank under the aft mattresses, I do not see any obvious signs of diesel fuel leaking in the bilge. Damn, now where could the leak be?
Flip flopped the remaining mattress to access the bilge. Once the center hatch covers are removed. I do some bilge yoga and find the leak. It is the water maker that is leaking. My fault! Tighten down the hose clamps, and the leak stops. So problem solved. Whew! Mostly seawater in the bilge with a hint of diesel on top.
I take this time to open the port main cabin lazaret to access the starter battery. Using a trickle charger to top off the starter battery it takes hours to charge up. Again the cabin ends up in array as the seat cushion and hatch have to go someplace else for hours.
Tuesday we travelled 3 miles down to Rat Key to snorkel on two trucks placed near the beach. With the winds, swell and current we cancelled the dive. Our dinghy does not have the engine on it yet, due the the wave action. We put it on at Andros but later removed the engine. Lifting on to a bracket for crossing TOTO. We need to have smooth seas to hang the engine on the dinghy. Above is the small house on Childrens Bay Cove, probably the grounds keepers house. We would both take this house over the big house on the top of the island. He gets a 270 view of the water.
Out comes the inflatable paddleboard. During open water crossings it lives in the stand up shower in the head. Which we never use to shower in. Besides stacking our cockpit seat cushions in it during the year, it holds 3 cases of beer and the paddleboard for crossings.
Nancy pumping up her inflatable paddleboard. She paddled to shore. On her way there she had a nice size Bull shark circle her once then follow behind her about 20 feet back. Having a Bull shark waiting on you making a mistake, does make you concentrate on paddle technique and balance.
While she was gone I dove the anchor. Lucky for me she distracted the local Bull shark.
Nancy checked out two different beaches. Only Nancy can find someone to talk to on a deserted Island. She spent 20 minutes talking to a fellow sailor walking the beach.
After her paddle, Nancy got out the electric sheep sheers and gave me a haircut. Man that feels better! Now I just have to get all the hair off of the transom of the boat.
We store our 1 lb. propane tanks for the grill in the anchor locker. Just incase one leaks, you do not want it in the cabin. Liquid propane expands 270 times in volume. So 1 gallon of liquid propane (4.2 lbs) turns into 270 gallons of vapor by volume. Or one of the camper size 1 lb. bottles becomes 64 gallons by volume of vapor. Which is heavier than air, and not what you want in your bilge.
Enough of that. We cooked a great flank steak on the grill hanging on the stern rail.
The front hit us about 0430 in the morning. Plenty of rain to wash off the decks. Wind shift of 180 degrees. Gust of 25 knots or so. One of our neighbor catamarans swung by for a visit. He eventually pulled up his anchor and moved away.
S/V Sea Breeze, Lee Stocking Island, Exuma, Bahamas.

to do today:
groceries
go to second grocery store bc the first didn't have radishes or cauliflower, bc I showed up while they were restocking the vegetable section (downside to shopping early)
persevere at getting gas and a car wash, despite having to go to the far away station bc the nearby one has construction, the gas pump nearly eating my credit card, and some jackass in a giant truck fucking up in the car wash driveway (you should have to take a fkn IQ test before you're allowed to buy a big truck)
make pasta and meatballs to freeze for lunch next week
housework: clean bathroom, dust the desk, finish washing the bedding, vacuum
potentially go to the parents place a little early to clean the inside of the car (which dad has been bugging me to do since it stopped snowing lmao)

Role of Medical Gas Manifolds in healthcare industry.
What is a Medical Gas Manifold? Unlike Medical Air Compressors and Vacuum Pumps that generate gas on-site, many gases used in healthcare settings are delivered to the facility in different types of containers and use manifolds to distribute into the rooms.
Gases that can be delivered:
Oxygen – delivery pressure of 50psi Nitrous Oxide – delivery pressure of 50psi Medical Air – delivery pressure of 50psi Carbon Dioxide – delivery pressure of 50-100psi HeliOX blends – delivery pressure of 50psi Nitrogen – delivery pressure of 180psi Instrument Air – delivery pressure of 180psi The 2021 edition of the NFPA99 has the most recent developments in medical equipment and processes as well as new methods to reduce fire, explosion, and electrical hazards.
What Containers are used with Manifolds?
Bulk tanks and micro-bulk tanks are gas containers that get refilled on-site. These are used for large applications and require additional equipment. Sometimes, these are collectively called a tank farm and the pad – which allows access for a truck with cryogenic gas to pull in and fill the tanks. Liquid Dewars and high-pressure cylinders are the types of gas containers that are delivered and replaced when empty. For example, there is an “H-type” high pressure cylinder, which is primarily hooked up to a high-pressure manifold in the healthcare setting. These are very common for ambulatory surgery centers and small outpatient facilities, most of the gases listed above outside of oxygen, still use this type.
High Pressure and Liquid Medical Gas Manifold Installation
Discussing high pressure and liquid medical gas manifolds located indoors, the number one aspect is that it has to be a separate secured room with one hour fire rating used for no other purpose. Your manifold room can only have the manifolds and the container that is being replaced. You can store and keep connected what you’re actually using.
For example, if you have Dewars, you are only able to store Dewars, and then your high-pressure cylinders (H tanks) can go in there. Sometimes people put the vacuum pump and the oxygen manifold in the same room – that is not allowed and very expensive change order. Remember, your manifolds must be in a room all by themselves and be properly labeled.
How do Medical Gas Manifolds Work? With medical gas manifolds, you will have two banks; the primary and the secondary, and they are required to be equal. In regards to space, the primary bank is the one currently supplying the gas, and then the secondary bank will be ready when the primary is depleted. The manifold is required to be fully automatic. Referring to the NFPA applications, the switchover must occur within the manifold, semi-automatic.
What’s Inside a HP Manifold? The manifold is going to come equipped with a three-quarter inch shutoff valve, which makes up a manifold for high pressure. At the bottom of the diagram, is the pressure transducers that are telling you what pressure is happening in each side, your left and right bank, and your primary and secondary. Then, we go into the left and right bank dome regulators. The important part about using the dome biased regulators is that it’s what holds the pressure to allow the whole thing to work off pressure differential.
Heaters
CO2 and nitrous are two gases that can potentially freeze up a manifold. This is caused by a pressure drop and flow across the regulators in the orifice in the manifold. If you’re going to use a manifold with a shuttle valve, you must have a heater for CO2 and nitrous oxide because they leak. Then, you will be left with a slow flow the eventually freezes, so you’ll need to use a heater. We have a high flow dome bias regulator in our manifold, our specification sheets do not specify a heater with a Pattons Medical manifold. It isn’t needed because Pattons Medical picked a regulator that would give us high flow. Pattons Medical also wanted to make it so that heaters weren’t needed because they add to the room which causes another fail point. The heaters basically work by switching on when the room temperature drops below 75 degrees.
Liquid x Liquid Manifold In larger facilities, the number of high-pressure cylinders required to meet the demand can become very high resulting in a huge space requirement and a very labor-intensive change out. In those instances, cryogenic containers become advantageous. If using cryogenic containers, there are options pertaining to the primary and secondary banks. If using a liquid manifold, a HP reserve manifold is required as back-up.
IntelliSwitch Manifold The IntelliSwitch manifold is the product we will need to use if you are using a liquid-by-liquid application or high pressure. One of the unique features of the IntelliSwitch manifold is the flexibility.
When you push the button on the front, it allows you to identify what is being connected to this manifold. What this manifold's able to do is when you tell it what is connecting to it, it will understand what pressure is supposed to see based on the containers being attached.
Alarms
For the manifold, there are local and master alarms. The local alarms are physically on the cabinet and are going to have either green or red lights. These lights will be next to a few phrases; ready, in-use, and replace.
For reference, you should have two green lights for ready, which means you now have a demand. For this example, let’s say this is your primary bank. When it’s depleted, the red light will be next to “replace” and the green light will be next to “ready” a
