Benefits of a Marine VHF Antenna
The demand for a marine VHF antenna is increasing in the field of marine radio communication. This antenna makes communication better on marine vessels, aircraft, and FM stations. This antenna has many benefits over the other kinds of antennas. In this blog, we will discuss everything related to Marine VHF antenna and its benefits.
What is a VHF Antenna?
VHF is a very high-frequency antenna that has a higher band. It is an antenna used widely by local governments and numerous broadcasters. Many broadcasters have now changed from the HF band to the VHF band.
VHF band has a longer range than the HF band. This is one of the major reasons why many FM stations, marine vessels, and TV channels use a VHF band antenna. It gives a better quality and reduces minimal radio interference. Moreover, this antenna delivers the best performance in marine communication.
What is a Marine VHF Antenna?
Now, we will further discuss the meaning of Marine VHF antenna. This antenna is used in many kinds of boats, ships, yacht to cruise for radio communications and broadcasting signals. It also helps to receive and transmit radio signals over a long distance. These antennas allow boats to communicate well with each other and radio stations.
The fixed VHF radio has a typical ship-to-ship range of about 20 km. It is a portable antenna that can be carried anywhere during the journey. The range of a marine VHF antenna will increase with the increase of sea level or Antenna.
Benefits of Marine VHF Antenna
Marine VHF antenna is a very useful component that helps in transmitting and receiving radio signals over long distances. It allows the boats & ships to communicate with each other over a long distance and radio stations. Now, let us have a look at the major benefits of a Marine or VHF Ship board antenna in the below section:
1. Reduces Radio Interference
One of the major benefits of using a marine antenna is the less radio interference. It is widely used by marine forces and merchant navy to get a better communication range. VHF antenna works better than UHF antenna to deliver the communication to longer distances. Apart from that, the antenna also works better than the UHF antenna in other stations at night. It gives a better performance than an HF antenna.
2. Gives Good Sound Quality
The biggest reason for weak marine communication is bad sound quality. A very high-frequency antenna gives better sound quality than other kinds of antennas. Precise sound quality helps to give better communication on boats and ships. Marine VHF antenna is a useful component for harbor master and ship crew.
3. Effective Transmission And Receipt of Signals
A major benefit of using a marine VHF antenna is that it receives and transmits communication signals effectively. The radiation pattern and antenna gain will change the reception and transmission of communication signals. The high gain of a marine VHF antenna will give a higher range than UHF and HF antennas.
4. Portability
VHF antennas are highly portable and affordable. They do not have any long wires or loops. Besides, the VHF antenna is also easy to store and ship to any part of the world. You can use a marine VHF antenna for two-way radio communication and weather band signals. It works better than AM or UHF antennas and receives FM radio and VHF TV stations.
5. Strong Construction
One of the major benefits of using a VHF ship board antenna or marine antenna is that it has good construction. It is developed with the help of sound materials that do not rust or corrode due to moisture, winds, sunrays, dust, or chemicals. Besides, this antenna also remains stable on any type of boat or ship while going through oceans and seas.
6. Good Performance
While HF and UHF bands give low performance, the marine VHF antenna gives a better performance than the other antennas. It takes a few minutes to set up this antenna on the boats. VHF antennas come in a variety of sizes according to the needs of the clients. They also deliver better quality signals in marine communication. Mounting this antenna is easier than other types of antennas and can be done without using any special tools.
7. Suitable For Boating
The main advantage of a VHF marine and ship board antenna is that it suits every kind of boat and ship. You can mount it on any kind and size of boat and ship. There are no barriers in marine radio communication due to which you can use VHF antenna on ships and boats.
8. Better 2-Way Communication
Marine VHF antenna gives a powerful two-way radio communication on boats. You can communicate effectively from vessel to vessel and vessel to shore after mounting this antenna on the ship vessels and boats. Marine bands and VHF marine antennas are developed to work at the different frequencies on ships and vessels.
How to Buy a Marine VHF Antenna?
If you want to buy a VHF antenna, consider certain things and specifications before purchasing it. Besides, you must also consider certain things while purchasing a marine VHF antenna such as:
The first thing to consider is the length of an antenna. This length will ultimately affect the communication range and gives a longer range than other kinds of antennas.
The next factor to look for it mounting style while buying a marine VHF antenna. It can be mounted according to the needs and size of your ship vessel or boat.
You must look at the transmission pattern while buying the marine VHF antenna. If you want the better VHF communication range, choose the antenna with higher decibel rating.
You must look at the various options and compare the cost of a marine VHF antenna.
You should see whether the antenna fits in your budget or not.
The most important thing to look for while choosing a marine VHF antenna is the experience of using it on vessels and boats. You must check whether it is safe to mount the antenna on vessels and boats.

October 23 - 48.1 mile trip today from Fishing Bay to Scott Creek, Norfolk. Another uneventful transit, but uneventful is good. There were at least 15 ships anchored offshore. One of the ships was contacted by a helicopter telling them that the ship was going to be boarded in 10 minutes and to make sure that the #6 cargo door was closed as that is where the helicopter was going to land. The ship was further instructed to open the remaining cargo doors. I assume that a routine inspection of some sort was about to happen. It was a fairly busy day on the water with commercial and recreational boats plentiful. As we were n the channel leading to our anchorage, Molly D struck an object underwater. We didn’t see anything bob to the surface as we passed. We didn’t see anything on the surface of the water either. Don’t know what we struck or if it did any damage (not likely). Only way to tell is to haul the boat which is not going to happen. The object could have been sea life for all we know. We are in a quiet anchorage just off the main channel. Tomorrow we leave early to begin our trip to Coinjock, NC, about a 42 mile trip. We will be entering the intercoastal waterway (ICW). The ICW is full of bridges, many that are on an scheduled or on demand opening. Really hard to time your transit between the opening bridges in order to keep your “cooling your jets” time to a minimum. Some open on demand. Some open on the half hour. Some open on the hour. Confusing!! The fixed bridges should have 65’ clearance which what Molly D needs. Not all do. We pray real hard at all bridges that only the VHF antenna pings on the bridge supports. Exciting and stressful days coming up. The reward will come when we finally make it to warmer weather.

Swarm debuts $499 Evaluation Kit for consumers and tinkerers
Satellite connectivity company Swarm has come out with a new product that will give anyone the ability to create a messaging or Internet of Things (IoT) device, whether that be a hiker looking to stay connected off-the-grid or a hobbyist wanting to track the weather.
The Swarm Evaluation Kit is an all-in-one product that includes a Swarm Tile, the company’s flagship modem device, a VHF antenna, a small solar panel, a tripod, a Feather S2 development board and an OLED from Adafruit. The entire kit comes in at less than six pounds and costs $499. The package may sound intimidatingly technical, but Swarm CEO Sara Spangelo explained to TechCrunch that it was designed to be user-friendly, from the most novice consumer all the way through to more advanced users.
It “was super intentional to call it an Evaluation kit because it’s not a finished product,” Spangelo explained. “It serves two different kinds of groups. The first group is people that want to be able to do messaging anywhere that they are on the planet for a really low cost […] The second group of people will be the tinkerers and the hobbyists and educational folks.”
Swarm CEO and co-founder Sara Spangelo Image Credits: Swarm
This is the second consumer product that Swarm has on offer, after it went commercially live with its flagship Swarm Tile earlier this year. The Swarm Tile is a key component of the company’s ecosystem, which is comprised of a few different components: the Tile, a kind of modem that can be embedded in different things and what the customer interfaces with; the satellite network; and a ground station network, which is how the company downlinks data. The Tile is designed for maximum compatibility, so Swarm serves customers across sectors including shipping, logistics, and agriculture.
“One of the cool things about Swarm is that we’re infrastructure,” she said. “We’re like cellphone towers, so anyone can use us across any vertical.” Some of the use cases she highlighted included customers using Tile in soil moisture sensors, or in asset tracking in the trucking industry.
Swarm’s low-cost satellite data network is now available to commercial clients
A major part of Swarm’s business model is its low cost, with a Swarm Tile costing $119 and the connectivity service available for only $5 per month per connected device. Spangelo credits not only the engineering innovations in the tiny devices and satellites, but the gains in launch economics, especially for small satellite developers like Swarm. The company also sells direct, which further reduces overhead.
Swarm was founded by Spangelo, a pilot and aerospace engineering PhD who spent time at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab and at Google on its drone delivery project, Wing. She told TechCrunch that Swarm started as a hobby project between her and co-founder Ben Longmier, who had previously founded a company called Aether Industries that made high-altitude balloon platforms.
“Then [we] realized that we could do communications at speeds that were similar to what the legacy players are doing today,” Sara Spangelo said. “There was a lot of buzz around connectivity,” she added, noting that initiatives like Project Loon were garnering a lot of funding. But instead of trying to match the size and scale of some of these multi-year projects, they decided to go small.
In the four and a half years since the company’s founding, Swarm has put up a network of 120 sandwich-sized satellites into low Earth orbit and grown its workforce to 32 people. They’ve also been busy onboarding customers that use the Tile. One hope is that the Kit will be an additional way to draw customers to Swarm’s service.
Spangelo said the kit is for “everybody in between, that likes to just play with things. And it’s not just playing – the playing leads to innovations and ideas, and then it gets deployed out into the world.”

11 Ways To Completely Ruin Your Fishing Strike Indicator
Marine Electronic devices
Autopilots The first self-steering equipment was introduced in the 1920's to control model private yachts but it was not till 1948 that the principle was related to complete range yachts. Standing at the helm for lengthy durations, keeping track of instruments as well as maintaining an excellent watch out can be very tedious. An autopilot alleviates the helmsman from steering the proper training course leaving him complimentary to maintain a correct watch. The autopilot can be set to either steer a compass program or a training course about the wind. A fluxgate compass or electronic wind sign feeds information to a microprocessor which after that makes the essential rudder activities to return the vessel to it's called for training course. The mechanical power is applied to the rudder by either electric direct activators, hydraulic pumps or rotary drives. GPS/Chart plotters can be used to input navigational guidelines to the auto-pilot.
Battery Chargers will keep batteries fully billed therefore expanding their functioning life.
Chart Plotters Typically a chart plotter contains an antenna, placed high on the watercraft, to track GPS signals and a display screen system sited either at the at the navigating station or the helm of the vessel. The vessels position is sent out from the antenna to the screen device which consequently reveals it graphically on the graph. The Chart itself will look comparable to it's paper equivalent as well as reveal depth, land mass, navigational aids such as bouys and prospective risks in the form of accidents and obstructions. The customer can include method indicate the chart as well as focus and out of the display screen. Graph plotters can be connected to drive an autopilot and/or send GPS information to a fish finder or radar. They can additionally user interface with a laptop allowing intricate passage preparing to be done away from the boat and after that became part of the graph plotter after coming to the watercraft.
Magnetic Transmitting Compasses function like traditional compasses making use of magnets to determine the vessels alignment to the planet's electromagnetic field they after that transfer the boats heading to an electronic screen. They make guiding much easier than with conventional compasses due to the fact that they show steadier headings and also do not struggle with the "lag" that occurs when making a turn. They can interface with chart plotters, autopilots and radar. Fluxgate Compasses include 2 items of easily filled magnetic material with coils wound rounded them in opposing instructions. AC current is gone through the coils as well as the product is filled in one instructions and then the various other. The planet's magnetic field affects a little the time at which saturation happens, earlier in one coil and also later in the various other. The distinction is after that determined giving an outcome symmetrical to the planet's electromagnetic field. They are exact to 0.1 of a degree. Their result can be displayed digitally to the helmsman or they can user interface with auto-pilots, chart plotters as well as radar.
Echo Sounders deal with the same principle as sonar. A transducer discharges a slim beam of light of high frequency noise. This is mirrored by any type of strong things as well as the time between transmission and also receipt of the echo is measured. The rate of sound via water is know therefore the array or distance to the sea bed can be calculated. That is after that shown in metres. Forward Looking Sonar (FLS) allows you to see the undersea dangers before you're in fact on top of them. A typical variety for a FLS is 150 metres.
An Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) is a tool created to drift free of a vessel in distress. It after that sends out a radio signal that can be detected by Search and Rescue Satellite Aided Tracking (SARSAT) satellites. They communicate a message to a ground terminal that subsequently can prompt a search and also rescue procedure.
youtube
Fish Finders utilize the very same innovation as sonar. A slim column of high frequency audio is transferred by a transducer, this is mirrored by solid things such as the sea bed. By developing this technology fishfinders offer displays that reveal where the fish are and also they can set apart between bait fish as well as bigger types
Gps (GPS Receivers) - This system was originally made for military functions as well as is owned as well as operated by the United States Department of Defence. 24 satellites are set up in a "coop" around the world, they are positioned as though at any type of put on the planet's surface area a straight view can be established to a minimum of 4 satellites. A repair is obtained by gauging precisely the range in between a satellite and also the GPS receiver at a specific time. Since the precise position of the satellite is understood, these distances provide position lines which are converted by a microprocessor within the GPS receiver to read outs of latitude and longitude.
The log is made use of to gauge the boats speed through the water. A paddle wheel or impeller, installed listed below the waterline is transformed by the circulation of water, this produces electrical impulses that are fed to a microprocessor that displays both speed as well as distance run.
Inverters - On a lot of watercrafts today you will certainly locate domestic equipment of one sort or another. For on board enjoyment there are tvs as well as stereo. With the popularity of chart plotters comes the PC or laptop computer. Upkeep typically needs making use of power devices. Liveaboards may have a cleaning machine, dish washer or microwave. Can take 12v, 24v or 48v supply and also transform it to a stable 110 v or 220v AC supply.
Navtex can probably best be described as a constantly updated telex service giving navigation as well as weather information within defined areas. An aboard receiver, tuned to 518kHz, the around the world Navtex frequency, if left turned on will certainly either print out or show the latest massage therapies sent from a neighborhood terminal. The solution is readily available approximately 400 miles from the coastline.
Radar allows you to see what otherwise would be unnoticeable. They offer greatest advantage in the evening and also in fog or rain and are of certain value when near shore or in hectic shipping lanes. They include an antenna as well as a display. The antenna sends out a stream of RF energy which is reflected back off hard objects. When this energy is gotten better it is converted to a signal which showed to the customer. The antenna rotates every couple of seconds, the display screen continuously computes the direction of the antenna and so an exact bearing to the target is computed. The moment is measured for the energy to be mirrored and so the distance of the target is additionally displayed.
Satellite Phones include an antenna, a modem as well as a typical phone. They are powered by an iridium battery. Their array is anywhere covered by in Inmarsat Mini-M satellite. Voice, fax, email as well as information can be sent.
Satellite TV calls for an antenna and also certainly a television. Reception is offered within a "footprint" which is based on EIRP (Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) of a transferring satellite. The EUTELSAT together with both ASTRA satellites cover Europe. NILESAT as well as the two ARABSATs cover Africa and also the Middle East. Good coverage is likewise readily available in North, Central and also Southern America.
SSB Radio has a variety of numerous thousand miles. You will certainly need an FFC permit, or the equal in whichever country you plan to run it. Power consumption is a factor to consider. Up to 100 Watts may be needed for transmission. SSB radio requires a number of products of equipment. A transceiver efficient in SSB operation, An antenna, this bite alarm for fishing have to be 8 metres long as well as in practice most boats make use of a backstay or shroud for the function having fitted the necessary insulators. An antenna tuner matched to the transceiver design. If you want to send out email you will certainly also need as well as radio modem and computer system.
VHF Radio The power required to transmit is marginal, good to go have the choice of transmitting on either 1 Watt or 25 Watts and also the lower power need to be utilized whenever feasible. Unlike telephones that enable you to both talk as well as hear at the same time most VHF sets need you to push a transmit switch prior to chatting. This is known as simplex. Duplex collections are available yet are a lot more costly. VHF radio waves take a trip in straight lines so the airborne must be installed as high as possible, preferably at the masthead.

Auto-pilots The first self-steering equipment was introduced in the 1920's to control model luxury yachts but it was not till 1948 that the concept was put on complete scale luxury yachts. Standing at the helm for lengthy durations, keeping an eye on tools and also maintaining an excellent look out can be really tiring. An autopilot eliminates the helmsman from guiding the proper training course leaving him free to preserve an appropriate watch. The auto-pilot can be set to either steer a compass training course or a course about the wind. A fluxgate compass or electronic wind indicator feeds info to a microprocessor which then makes the needed tail activities to return the vessel to it's needed program. The mechanical power is applied to the rudder by either electrical direct activators, hydraulic pumps or rotary drives. GPS/Chart plotters can be used to input navigational guidelines to the autopilot.
Battery Chargers will keep batteries fully billed consequently prolonging their working life.
Chart Plotters Typically a graph plotter contains an antenna, placed high on the watercraft, to track GPS signals as well as a screen device sited either at the at the navigating station or the helm of the vessel. The vessels position is sent out from the antenna to the display device which consequently reveals it graphically on the chart. The Chart itself will certainly look similar to it's paper comparable as well as show deepness, land mass, navigational aids such as bouys as well as potential threats in the form of wreckages as well as blockages. The user can add method indicate the chart and also focus and out of the display. Chart plotters can be linked to drive an auto-pilot and/or send GPS information to a fish finder or radar. They can additionally user interface with a laptop computer making it possible for complicated flow planning to be done far from the boat and after that entered into the graph plotter after getting to the boat.
Magnetic Transmitting Compasses function like standard compasses utilizing magnets to determine the vessels alignment to the planet's electromagnetic field rainbow trout fishing tips they after that send the watercrafts heading to a digital display screen. They make guiding less complicated than with standard compasses because they present steadier headings as well as do not struggle with the "lag" that takes place when making a turn. They can user interface with chart plotters, autopilots and radar. Fluxgate Compasses include 2 items of readily filled magnetic material with coils wound round them in opposing instructions. AC current is gone through the coils as well as the product is filled in one direction and afterwards the other. The earth's magnetic field affects a little the time at which saturation happens, earlier in one coil and later in the various other. The distinction is after that calculated giving an output proportional to the earth's magnetic field. They are precise to 0.1 of a degree. Their output can be shown electronically to the helmsman or they can user interface with auto-pilots, graph plotters and also radar.
Mirror Sounders service the same concept as sonar. A transducer discharges a slim light beam of high frequency audio. This is shown by any type of solid things and also the time between transmission as well as receipt of the echo is determined. The rate of noise through water is understand and so the variety or range to the sea bed can be computed. That is after that displayed in metres. Forward Looking Sonar (FLS) enables you to see the underwater risks before you're actually in addition to them. A typical variety for a FLS is 150 metres.
An Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) is a tool developed to float devoid of a vessel in distress. It then sends a radio signal that can be discovered by Search and also Rescue Satellite Aided Tracking (SARSAT) satellites. They communicate a message to a ground station that consequently can instigate a search as well as rescue procedure.
Fish Finders use the same technology as sonar. A slim pulse of high frequency noise is sent by a transducer, this is reflected by solid objects such as the sea bed. By creating this technology fishfinders supply displays that show where the fish are and also they can distinguish in between bait fish as well as bigger types
Gps (GPS Receivers) - This system was originally created for army purposes and is owned and operated by the United States Department of Defence. 24 satellites are set up in a "coop" around the world, they are positioned in such a way that at any kind of position on the planet's surface a straight line of sight can be developed to a minimum of 4 satellites. A solution is acquired by measuring properly the range between a satellite and the GPS receiver at an accurate time. Since the precise position of the satellite is known, these distances supply position lines which are converted by a microprocessor within the GPS receiver to read outs of latitude and longitude.
The log is used to measure the watercrafts speed via the water. A paddle wheel or impeller, placed below the waterline is transformed by the flow of water, this produces electrical impulses that are fed to a microprocessor that presents both speed and also distance run.
Inverters - On most watercrafts today you will discover residential equipment of one kind or one more. For on board home entertainment there are tvs and also stereo. With the appeal of chart plotters comes the COMPUTER or laptop. Maintenance usually calls for using power tools. Liveaboards could have a washing maker, dishwashing machine or microwave. Can take 12v, 24v or 48v supply and also transform it to a secure 110 v or 220v A/C supply.
Navtex can perhaps best be called a constantly upgraded telex solution supplying navigating and also weather information within defined locations. An on board receiver, tuned to 518kHz, the globally Navtex regularity, if left activated will either print out or present the current massage therapies sent from a local station. The solution is readily available approximately 400 miles from the coast.
Radar allows you to see what otherwise would be unseen. They supply biggest benefit during the night as well as in haze or rain as well as are of certain worth when near to coast or in busy shipping lanes. They contain an antenna as well as a display. The antenna sends a stream of RF power which is reflected withdraw tough things. When this power is recuperated it is transformed to a signal which displayed to the customer. The antenna turns every couple of secs, the display screen continually computes the instructions of the antenna therefore a specific bearing to the target is calculated. The moment is measured for the energy to be mirrored and so the range of the target is additionally presented.
Satellite Phones consist of an antenna, a modem and a normal phone. They are powered by an iridium battery. Their variety is anywhere covered by in Inmarsat Mini-M satellite. Voice, fax, e-mail and also information can be transferred.
Satellite TV calls for an antenna as well as naturally a television. Function is readily available within a "footprint" which is based upon EIRP (Effective Isotropic Radiated Power) of a transmitting satellite. The EUTELSAT along with both ASTRA satellites cover Europe. NILESAT and also the two ARABSATs cover Africa and the Middle East. Excellent coverage is additionally readily available in North, Central and also Southern America.
SSB Radio has a series of a number of thousand miles. You will need an FFC certificate, or the comparable in whichever nation you intend to operate it. Power consumption is a consideration. Up to 100 Watts might be needed for transmission. SSB radio calls for numerous items of devices. A transceiver efficient in SSB procedure, An antenna, this should be 8 metres long as well as in practice most watercrafts utilize a backstay or shroud for the purpose having fitted the required insulators. An antenna receiver matched to the transceiver model. If you wish to send out e-mail you will certainly also require as well as radio modem and also computer system.
VHF Radio The power called for to transfer is very little, all sets have the option of sending on either 1 Watt or 25 Watts and the reduced power must be used whenever possible. Unlike telephones that allow you to both talk as well as hear at the same time most VHF sets require you to press a transmit switch before chatting. This is referred to as simplex. Duplex sets are available yet are far more costly. VHF radio waves travel in straight lines so the airborne should be mounted as high as possible, ideally at the masthead.

GEMINI SYSTEM
To avoid communication interruptions that led to the disappearance of 20 fishermen following the Cyclone Okchi in 2017, a series of government departments, research agencies and private companies have developed GEMINI, a portable receiver connected to ISRO satellites, which is "proof failure "And warns fishermen of danger.
The Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), a Hyderabad institute, has partnered with Accord, a private company, to develop a box-shaped receiver that has an antenna and an integrated battery that can last three to four days, according to a brochure describing the device.
GEMINI works on GAGAN, developed by ISRO and the Airports Authority of India and is a global positioning system made in India and is based on ISRO's GSAT satellite positioning system.
When GEMINI is connected to an app, it also allows fishermen to know the probability of fishing in the surrounding seas. "We also now provide services such as storm alarms and alerts of potential catches of fish, however it depends on the mobile services provided by your telephone company," Satish Shenoi, director of INCOIS. "With this device, fishermen outside the range of signals from their telephone companies can also access warnings and notices." Cell phone frequencies are not accessible 10-12 km beyond the coast and with GEMINI this range can increase to 300 nautical miles, according to a press release.
The device only allows one-way communication, for example it cannot be used by fishermen to make calls. With a price tag of $ 9,000 per device, it is also relatively expensive for the average angler, officials say, but efforts are being made to subsidize it up to 90%. "We are in talks to have an agreement with the National Fisheries Development Board to pay the Center 60%, the state's 20% and the user 10% of the cost of the device," said Balakrishnan Nair, head of services of information, INCOIS.
The device could be more easily accessible to 900,000 Indian fishermen if the chips that power the cell phones were able to receive signals from the GAGAN system, Shenoi said and that, he said, was lacking in time.
"Satellite communication is the only suitable solution for the dissemination of such emergency information and an affordable satellite communication system should be included in the dissemination chain to deal with cyclones, high waves and tsunamis," he said. Union Minister of Science Harsh Vardhan a press conference.
INCOIS regularly provides information, advice, ocean data, weather forecasts, potential fishing grounds (PFZ) to beneficiaries such as fishermen, Indian navy, maritime industries, shipping, etc.
But due to the limited range of mobile networks and VHF, the information system of the past was unable to communicate disaster warnings to fishermen if and when they left the coast beyond 10-12 km.

Marine VHF radio
Learn moreThe examples and perspective in this article may not represent a worldwide view of the subject.
A VHF set and a VHF channel 70 DSC set, the DSC on top
A standard handheld marine VHF, mandatory on larger seagoing vessels under the GMDSS rules
A classic marine VHF radiotelephone
Marine VHF radio refers to the radio frequency range between 156 and 174 MHz, inclusive. The "VHF" signifies the very high frequency of the range. In the official language of the International Telecommunication Union the band is called the VHF maritime mobile band. In some countries additional channels are used, such as[1] the L and F channels for leisure and fishing vessels in the Nordic countries (at 155.5–155.825 MHz).
Marine VHF radio equipment is installed on all large ships and most seagoing small craft. It is also used, with slightly different regulation, on rivers and lakes. It is used for a wide variety of purposes, including summoning rescue services and communicating with harbours, locks, bridges and marinas.
A marine VHF set is a combined transmitter and receiver and only operates on standard, international frequencies known as channels. Channel 16 (156.8 MHz) is the international calling and distress channel. Transmission power ranges between 1 and 25 watts, giving a maximum range of up to about 60 nautical miles (111 km) between aerials mounted on tall ships and hills, and 5 nautical miles (9 km; 6 mi) between aerials mounted on small boats at sea level.[2] Frequency modulation (FM) is used, with vertical polarization, meaning that antennas have to be vertical in order to have good reception.
Modern-day marine VHF radios offer not only basic transmit and receive capabilities. Permanently mounted marine VHF radios on seagoing vessels are required to have certification of some level of "Digital Selective Calling" (DSC) capability, to allow a distress signal to be sent with a single button press.
Marine VHF mostly uses "half-duplex" transmission, where communication is over a single radio frequency, and only one of the parties can transmit at a time. The transceiver is normally in receive mode; to transmit the user presses a "push to talk" button on the set or microphone which turns the transmitter on and the receiver off. Some channels, however, are "full duplex" transmission channels where communication can take place in both directions simultaneously when the equipment on both ends allow it.[2] Each full-duplex channel has two frequency assignments. Duplex channels can be used to place calls over the public telephone network for a fee via a marine operator. When full-duplex is used, the call is similar to one using a mobile phone or landline. When half-duplex is used, voice is only carried one way at a time and the party on the boat must press the transmit button only when speaking. This facility is still available in some areas, though its use has largely died out with the advent of mobile and satellite phones. Marine VHF radios can also receive weather radio broadcasts, where they are available.
Types of equipment
Channels and frequencies Edit
Half-duplex channels here are listed with the A and B frequencies the same. The frequencies, channels, and some of their purposes are governed by the ITU. For an authoritative list see.[3] The original allocation of channels consisted of only channels 1 to 28 with 50 kHz spacing between channels, and the second frequency for full-duplex operation 4.6 MHz higher.
Improvements in radio technology later meant that the channel spacing could be reduced to 25 kHz with channels 60 to 88 interspersed between the original channels.
Channels 75 and 76 are omitted as they are either side of the calling and distress channel 16, acting as guard channels. The frequencies which would have been the second frequencies on half-duplex channels are not used for marine purposes and can be used for other purposes that vary by country. For example, 161.000 to 161.450 MHz are part of the allocation to the Association of American Railroads channels used by railways in the US and Canada.[4]

THE DUAL PUSH-TO-TALK DIFFERENCE The UV-82 Series come with a dual push-to-talk button. The dual PTT is a huge leap forward in the HT technology. It allows you to transmit on two frequencies by the use of the rocker PTT switch. By pressing up you can transmit on "Frequency A" and by pushing down you can transmit on "Frequency B". Frequency A or B can also be used as a scanner of channels, frequencies, CTCSS and DTS tones.
On the BaoFeng UV-82HP you are able to synchronize the PTT button to enable single Push-to-Talk communications.
The BaoFeng UV-82 Series The UV-82 series has upped the bar on affordable ham radio technology! Compared to previous BaoFeng products the UV-82 comes with a much louder speaker (1 watt), a much more solid case with larger buttons, and a new chipset and PCB board that outperforms the range, accuracy, and output of the previous BaoFeng chipsets. It is not simply a remake but a new radio from the ground up. It outperforms the the 2nd Gen UV-5R chipset .
Dual Watch Receiver
The UV-82HP has one built-in receiver but can "watch" two channels (semi duplex). Monitor two different frequencies (even on different bands (VHF/UHF)) and the radio will monitor both frequencies giving priority to the first station to receive an incoming call.FM Broadcast Station
You can listen to the FM Broadcast radio, while still monitoring your radio frequencies in the background. Any incoming call will be given priority insuring you never miss an important call while listening to the radio.Group Tones supported
The UV-82HP supports the most common Analog Tones. It supports CTCSS, DCS, and DTMF calling methods. Set-up your calling methods to call by group tones. Tone calling (private line) is required by most repeater applications and the UV-82HP supports the latest standards
The UV-82HP can even send DTMF tones. This allows for sending ANI (Caller ID) or remote commands that require DTMF tones
Internal VOX function
The UV-82HP has an internal VOX (Voice Operated Transmit) function for convenient hands-free operation and can be used in conjunction with the included earpiece and mic. The VOX level and VOX delay time are adjustable your needs.Customize Your Operation with channels, Programmable Buttons, and more!
You can program your UV-82HP exactly how you want it. There are 128 programmable memory channels. You can add or remove channels from scanning list using the free computer software. You can give channels alphanumeric names, using a computer. The radio has 3 power levels (7 watt maximum), allowing you to choose how far you can communicate. You can set VFO limits using the CHIRP software. You can easily program from a PC to set-up the radio to operate exactly as needed.Features

Greetings once again.Last time on Hawkins Book Club, we learned that the Montauketts were descended from Atlantis, people with negative blood types are descended from Martians, the Egyptian gods are real and still messing around on Earth, there’s a secret war that’s been going on between Jedi and Sith since the beginning of recorded history, 2012 ushered forth a new era of knowledge and understanding (hah!), you can time-travel by banging a Nazi bigwig, women can get pregnant through sheer force of will, conspiracy theorists make pretty good lawyers, I might be a brainwashed XCOM operative by night and Hitler had a farting problem.Up next on the chopping block is the 1996 book Encounter in the Pleiades: An Inside Look at UFOs. Now, I should point that this book isn’t really a part of the main Montauk series; it’s kind of a side story. Think of it like the Rogue One of the Montauk saga, but with a much crappier ending. Without further ado, let’s dive in.We start off without a Prelude for once and jump right into the Introduction, which basically recaps the series thus far and explains that Nichols is going to write the majority of this book.Chapter 1 gives a general overview of the history of UFO sightings and gives an explanation as to why The Man is covering them up;“If you talk to the average person on the street and ask them where God is, many will point to the sky and answer that “God is up there.” If a very advanced culture suddenly arrived in a space ship, large portions of the population would more than likely begin to worship the people in the space ships as angels and believe they were ambassadors from God. With all the different religious sects forming around these beings from the stars, the Government would lose control. All in all, what may have started out as a valid political concern developed into a control issue.”…Sure…Chapter 2 starts off with this anecdote;“My first paranormal experience was as a child of about five or six years old. I woke up and saw what I believed to be the face of God looking in the doorway at me. This face definitely did not belong to either of my parents. It was very light skinned and was surrounded with long white hair. Although I encountered this face many times, I do not recall any other unusual experiences until I was in my teens.”So apparently our author is not only a Slayer of Demofoots and Destroyer of UFOs also attracted the good Lord’s personal attention as a mere child. Humbleness, thy name is Preston. In either “1961 or 1962 at the age of fifteen or sixteen” Nichols had his own shed in his backyard in which he messed around with electronics and radios. One night while tinkering in his shed, he spotted a bright white disc-shaped UFO about fifty feet in width and twenty feet in height knock out the power and fly over his house.“The UFO sighting in my backyard turned out to be the first of many. Around this general time period (early 1960s), there were a lot of UFO sightings around the area of Islip, the town on Long Island where I grew up and still live to this day.”Wait a minute, hold up.Islip? As in Islip, the next town over from mine? That Islip?………………………………………….Well, after a bit of sleuthing, I found out that Preston B. Nichols lives a mere twelve miles away from where I’m sitting now. It takes only fifteen minutes to drive there (thank you MapQuest).Okay, now I really have to watch what I say about this guy from now on.….Anyway, he talks about how he saw another UFO at his high school and later on he describes how the students of Suffolk Community College also saw a wave of UFOs pass over the campus, but when he tried to get the footage he took of the UFOs “taken out”, he discovered that the film was missing. However, he did learn how to “recognize” UFOs;“These crafts make very distinctive interference on short wave radios and also in the VHF and UHF bands. The spectrum displays usually looked like a hill. I learned to recognize them mainly by the sound that comes out of the speakers while in the AM detection mode when the AGC (Automatic Gain Control) is turned off. They sound like a hum, buzz or a whistle under such conditions. There are also certain patterns in the background noise you can pick up. I became pretty good at recognizing them and now do it primarily by listening through headphones.”Yeah, so apparently an alien race advanced enough to master interstellar travel can only make a crappy stealth system that can be foiled by a college student and his 1965 radio. Makes sense.Chapter 3 describes how in 1974, Nichols was employed with Telephonics BJM and was assigned to investigate “foreign technology” at an Air Force base. He boarded a plane with five other people and was taken to a base in Ohio. He then entered a hangar and was told to examine a UFO. It was the same width and height as the one he spotted as a teenager and was resting on three legs with a ramp leading inside the disc-shaped hull. The inside of the UFO was much bigger than the outside as it was a part of an “artificial reality”. The lights were automated, there was antennas, crystals and coils all over the place, and the bridge of the craft had two chairs using the same technology of the Montauk Chair, except these chairs were designed so that the pilots could operate the ship with their minds. Now, I’ve being seeing this crop up a lot in science fiction lately, and I’ve always wondered how the hell that’s supposed to work. Is it supposed to filter out stray thoughts? How does it determine that? Would you just the pilots of a plane that you’re riding in to be able to control it with a clear, undistracted mind? Hell, would you trust yourself to drive with your mind?Regardless, Nichols then starts humansplaining about the UFO design;“ I know that if I were building a space craft, I wouldn’t want to rely on a ship that artificially (by machine) maintains a huge space inside of a small ship. If the machines were to fail, everything could crunch together and perhaps disappear. It could be a nightmare. If I were to do it, I would want a passive system. There would be no electricity and no power. By virtue of the physical shaped structure of the craft I had seen, an alternate reality would have to have been created on the inside. How to accomplish such a feat is another matter entirely and that aspect will be discussed later on.”So Nichols knows about how to build a better interstellar spacecraft than aliens. Well, I can’t wait to hear his explanation. When he gets back to Long Island, he soon discovers that none of his colleagues had any recollection of the UFO, and he himself was having memory problems as well. He reminds us that this was the time that he was simultaneously working at Montauk, Brookhaven and Telephonic BJM.Chapter 4 talks about the time Nichols built a UHF transmitter for the government, and brought it to Fort Meade in Maryland. When he got there, “two men from the Government” told him to watch as a UFO rose above the hill in front of him. Nichols then turned on the transmitter which then caused the UFO to wobble and “make strange noises”. Nichols was then instructed to take the transmitter back to Long Island. Later, on September 28th, 1989, he was instructed by the military to take the transmitter to Smith Point with two associates. When he got there, he saw a large radar dish set up and turned on the transmitter. When he did that, a “bluish glow came out of the center of the big dish” and went into the sky. Nichols then saw a wedge-shaped, 300ft long UFO pass over head pursued by military helicopters, which then crashed into the bay. It turns out that this was the infamous Moriches Bay UFO Crash. Nichols was then order to pack up and return home, followed closely by federal agents. When he went back to work the next day, he was immediately subjected to a “debriefing procedure”, but luckily “By this point, I had already learned how to counter their debriefing procedure. That is why I still remember this incident.” His coworkers did not have this ability and forgot everything.Nichols then mentions President Reagan’s infamous UN speech about aliens and claimed that the Star Wars program was not designed to shoot down Soviet missiles, but was instead intended to take down UFOs which is admittedly rather plausible considering Reagan’s opinions on alien life.Chapter 5 explains the technology of UFOs, notably claiming that they can use antigravity technology to reach speeds of up to 10,000 miles per hour while still possessing the ability to make sharp turns. In order to cushion from the mother of all whiplashes, the pilots could be “suspended in liquid baths.”Okay, so instead of just using a damn control stick like our aircraft these highly-advanced aliens elected to have their pilots make hairpin turns through the air faster than the speed of sound while suspended in a bathtub using their minds. I think the human race has the advantage of better user interfaces than any potential invaders. Or not, because Nichols claims that for whatever stupid reason stealth bomber pilots inexplicably fly their planes with their minds as well. For some fucking reason. Chapters 6-10 is a long, dry, detailed explanation of how UFOs work. The short answer is that tornadoes can somehow open portals to other dimensions because their spinning motion manipulates electromagnetic energy (so The Wizard of Oz is scientifically plausible according to Nichols), alchemy and aether are real things, Albert Einstein was “programmed” and had his sperm stolen by the government (seriously), demagnetizing pure light creates a “reality bubble” which happened in the Philadelphia Experiment, and people could use these bubbles to warp through space and time. Nichols ends this section with the following;“It is with this in mind that we introduce the next part of this book which will include aliens, abductions, and implants. While these subjects are considered generally chaotic and crazy by the news media and some of the general population as well, it is important that these subjects be categorized with asmuch accuracy as possible. As a phenomenon, they can no longer be denied.”Well, at least he was kind enough to give us a heads-up before things really get crazy. In Chapter 11, Nichols tells us about his rather crappy childhood. His tongue was deformed at birth and had to be surgically corrected, he was frequently ill, he passed out from heart murmurs twice when he was twelve, and to top it all off he had cerebral palsy. However, when he turned seventeen, all of these problems inexplicably vanished. At that time, he also started dreaming about a blond, blue-eyed god taking him on various adventures. Also, he was hearing voices in his head (which explains a lot). In college, he was hypnotized and remembered that when he was fifteen the “Pleiadians” (I have lost track of how many alien races are involved in all of this) took him to their home planet, cured him of his various disabilities, implanted a “complete mastery over electronics” (except the Internet apparently, seeing as how Moon says he doesn’t really know how to use it) and started talking to him telepathically.Chapter 12 describes the Pleiadian worlds in greater detail. Nichols was taken to a base on the Jupiter moon of Europa via spaceship where he was extensively examined and tested. He also reports that the Pleiadians watch movies and play video games as well!Hey Pleiadians, if you ever want to play a couple of XCOM 2 matches, feel free to hit me up!The Pleiadians then took Nichols to a planet called Alderon. Yes, Alderon and no, as you’ll soon learn, that’s not a coincidence. Anyway, Alderon is a paradise, lush, green and with clear blue skies. The entire planet is like one giant nature garden with glass buildings blending in. The ecosystem is the top priority and there is more oxygen than on Earth. The people look just like humans, their interior colors are mostly flat and everyone gets around either by foot or teleportation. All their food is synthesized with a few farms. The Pleiadians look mostly identical to each other, but live to be about seven hundred years old and suffer from few health problems. After being cured of his many health problems, Nichols was taken to an “education center” ;“There, I was put through a process which they said gave me the equivalent of four different doctorate degrees on Earth. These were in the subjects of physics, electronics, psychology and divinity. They said this knowledge would eventually surface during my life on Earth.”He also learns that the Pleiadians occupy six planets in their star cluster; one is a religious center, one is a technical center, one is a military center and the other three are pure energy containing the twelve “super beings” who rule over the Pleiadians as a high council.“You can understand this easier if you realize that I have yet to hear of a decision made by the council that was not a proper decision. I am talking about a harmonious free society that we would consider to be a utopia. The main reason they have achieved this evolved state is that they developed a collective consciousness which links them all together. This link manifests in the individual minds of the Pleiadians as a voice that can be conversed with. It is not a cacophony of voices nor does it give orders or seek to control a person. Itis more like a companion or adviser. In this manner, each Pleiadian has a piece of the collective consciousness while retaining their own individuality. If mankind was linked in such a manner, I do not believe that there would be any war or crime on Earth. We actually already have this faculty but it is a subconscious link which we are not aware of on a conscious level. I know it is there because I have personally developed a link to the human Earth consciousness, but I do not hear a voice as I do in the case of the Pleiadian consciousness. If we fully develop this faculty, it would probably appear as a voice. The Pleiadian voice usually just gives me advice or tells me where to find answers to different questions. At times, I can become very exasperated with the voice because it won’t answer direct questions but only tells me where to find answers.”That seems like it would be more of a pain in the ass than anything, but it’s interesting nonetheless.“According to what I learned, the history of the Pleiadian civilization goes back into antiquity. It is over 100,000 Earth years old and originates from what they refer to as the Old Universe. They came through a barrier and entered this part of our galaxy. They settled amongst the seven sister stars which we call the Pleiades on our star maps. They are quite positive that they were a settlement that did not originate in this galaxy. Their definition of the Old Universe is somewhat vague. It is something like the universe that the Creator originally created and loosely parallels the Star Wars saga by George Lucas. The Old Universe was very much like this one. There were problems with it so we created our own universe (this physical universe) and came through barriers as we entered. None of this is really too clear and recollections of it are like a genetic memory. Many people pick up on the Old Universe in their dreams.”Wait, is Nichols saying that the Star Wars galaxy is real?…………………….God damn it, this guy is doing everything to make me want to believe him, and I almost find myself nodding along until the logical part of my mind slaps me in the back of my head. I’m really starting to understand why people buy into this. Anyway, so apparently the Pleiadians believe in a “Creator” as well and that Christ was a “projection from the collective subconscious of our planet”, so I guess Christianity is the true religion after all going solely off of this.“Christ appeared on Earth in the spirit of “kicking us in the butt” to get us going with the Creator again.”Well that’s…. one way of putting it.“I do not know the entire agenda of the Pleiadians. From what I can figure out, it seems to be twofold. First, they want to help us here on Earth because they believe a very key step in the evolution of this galaxy starts on this planet. They also like to see things take a natural course because they are super naturalists. Their other agenda is anthropological in that their interest is motivated by their belief that we are experiencing today what they went through hundreds of thousands of years ago. Their civilization started out much like ours and they are gaining insights by studying us and other similar groups in the galaxy.”Hey Pleiadians, want to know how you can help us? Start teleporting college-age kids to your education centers through our dreams as well. The Creator knows I can sure as hell use it.So there’s no crime on their worlds, and everyone is free to choose whatever job they please. However, there is one law; interfering with another person or civilization gets the death penalty. Because of this, they instead make contacts with various beings across the universe to serve as ambassadors, spreading their peaceful ideals. Nichols is just one of thousands.“This is why we don’t condone any sort of violence or terrorist acts. We don’t even condone any civil disobedience.”That’s why people are anti-terrorism? I thought it was just because of people being decent human beings with ethics and empathy, but whatever.“Others will also be suspicious of the Pleiadians because of their supposed involvement with Hitler and the Third Reich. This is standard fodder in UFOlogy so should be commented on. According to my contacts, Hitler was told to preserve the Aryan (same as Pleiadian) seed here on Earth. He was not supposed to kill off the seed of the Pleiadians arch enemies, the Draco, who colonized Earth in the form of the Semitic race. His mission was to protect the Aryans from the Semites and make an Aryan country for those who wanted to come and live in an exclusive Aryan environment. Of course, a lot of concepts and signals got crossed. Hitler did not pursue his mission and went off the rails, to say the least.”It’s almost like giving advanced technology to lunatic screaming about how Jewish people are subhuman and (if these books are to be believed) was groomed to be the Antichrist was a pretty dumb idea.Nichols ends the chapter with a description of how he met up with three Pleiadian contacts in a mall, and moves on to Chapter 13 in which he describes other sentient alien life. There is multiple alien races who look extremely similar to humans. In addition, cat people, dog people, bear people and bird people do, in fact, exist.Cue every furry on Earth squealing in delight.Besides that, reptilian-like aliens (which Nichols literally describes as looking like the Gorn from Star Trek) who have psychic abilities exist, as well as giant sentient praying mantises and plant-based life. This segways into Chapter 14, which describes how Earth was colonized with the Pleiadians genetically engineering apes into humans similar to their own genetic structure, and Nichols manages to offend probably every single race on Earth within the span of one page. Don’t believe me?“The Caucasian or Aryan races would be the original race fostered by the Pleiadian consciousness. The oriental race is rumored to be a genetic alteration of the Pleiadians by the grays (insectoid). This could explain why orientals have slanted eyes and have a worker bee mentality. All of this information is supposition based upon suggestions and informed sources. It should not offend anyone and is not meant to do so.”Oh, I’m sure people of Asian descent are just fine with being stated as descendants of insectoid aliens and being referred to as “orientals”. I have no idea why they would get offended.“The next race to appear were the Abernache. They came from the planet Marduk as cited by Sitchin in "The Twelfth Planet". They were supposedly a white race that genetically engineered the black race. The purest black race on Earth were known as the Nubians and are considered to be natives of this planet. Their genetic structure was crossed with the Pleiadians to give us the black race that we know today. Marduk was also known as Nemesis or Bête Noir in French, meaning ‘black beast’.”Okay, I think it’s time for you to step away from the keyboard, Preston.“The Reptilians from Orion took the Pleiadian seed race and modified it to create the Semitic race. This explains why the Aryan race is sometimes called the master race. The theory is that it was the original blueprint which was doctored to fit the agenda of a particular life form.”No? You’re just going to keep digging that hole deeper? Alright then. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.“In addition to the above races, there is also the Native American race. Although most of their legends indicate they come from the Pleiades, this is not actually correct. Their identification with the Pleiades comes from the cultural influence of Atlantis which was a Pleiadian settlement and the most recent ruling power in their history. The Native Americans are believed to have derived from a being that looked very human but was red haired and red bearded and came from the Andromedan galaxy.”Jesus Christ…“If you take the above four races and interbreed them, you will have the brown race which can be considered a mixture of caucasians, blacks and orientals or some combination thereof. There are other possibilities as well.”Well, Nichols managed to come up with insane backstories for all of these races in the span of one page. It’s almost kind of impressive.“Please understand that I am not saying that any one race is more or less intelligent than the others. I am just trying to demonstrate how different alien beings have intervened with mankind to produce the different races of man and the cultural melting pot we have on Earth.”“I’m just saying that orientals are descended from insectoids and blacks are white people who were engineered to be black! Calm the hell down, people!”Chapter 15 explains that we have three alien confederations in our galaxy; the Pleiadian Neveron (which was already explained), the Galactic Confederation which acts as a sort of United Nations which is composed of many planets and have a less severe non-interference code of conduct, and the aggressive and warlike Leverons, also known as the Orion Alliance. The more militant Pleiadians align more with this group. The Draconian Empire is running this last alliance and want to use it to annex Earth into their empire. To explain how they plan to accomplish this, we move into Chapter 16. Well actually no, first Nichols says that the Illuminati is abducting people through the government for some inexplicable reason and is disguising the abductions as the work of aliens. In fact, aliens only account for “approximately twenty to thirty percent” of abductions. But of the actual legitimate alien abductions, there are three types; physical, astral and induction. In a physical abduction, people are literally pulled through the walls of their houses into a UFO. Here, either ovum or sperm is extracted from the victim (Nichols also gives an incredibly graphic description of how the aliens extract sperm from the testes which I will not be retyping here). They also extract stem cells from stomach lining because their race is “atrophying” and they have to crossbreed with humans to continue their race. Other times the aliens would just flat-out rape a woman, allow the fetus to grow for two months, then abduct the woman again to extract it. In order to track these women, the aliens implant transceivers. And what do they do with the men they abduct?“In the case of male abductions, semen samples are taken with regularity and not just once. One abductee who underwent therapy to have his abductions stopped was successful in that regard but ended up with a disease caused by excess sperm cells. He was so used to having his seminal tube between the testicles and prostate being cleared out by the aliens that he had never masturbated. This build up causes the sperm cells to rot after a while and he began to getinfections in the scrotum. This was diagnosed by a doctor who taught him to clear his tubes from time to time.”What……The……Fuck…….Okay, so that’s why aliens are abducting us, but what about the government? Well, it turns out that they’re still abducting young kids to act as elite brainwashed super soldiers in times of crisis. How do they accomplish this? Well, they use electricity to stimulate the kids’ sex drive to the point or orgasm, then hook them up to a computer and literally download the programming into their brains off a floppy disk.“People who have been sexually programmed in the above manner also transmit whatever information was programmed into them whenever they go into asexual state. Sexual ecstasy is a rather magnetic and hypnotic state and it is said to contain “magic”. In such a state, one partner can transmit to the other according to what was programmed. One can even be subconsciously indoctrinated to control their copulation to the point where they can transmit to the partner without either party being aware of what is going on. A “mind meld” occurs. Some young men are programmed to such a degree that they can miraculously arouse tremendous desire in a woman. If the programmers want a program spread around, such young men sow their seed around with the programming of the women concerned being the target. In this manner, an idea or program can be inserted into the society on a wholesale basis. It could be as simple a program as “buy ABC detergent”, vote for this politician or it could be considerably more complex. In some of these men, the magnetism is working overtime to where they can copulate two or three times a day, sometimes with more than one woman. These men are like incubuses and can have quite a devastating even if romantic effect on females. My estimate is that about ten percent of the male population under thirty have been programmed in this manner.”Yeah, so how much of this book is left? Twenty four chapters? Crap…“Conditioning is related to programming, but it is a different procedure. The most common kind of conditioning also uses electroshock. Two electrodes are placed on the sides of the subject’s forehead and a picture is placed in front of him or her. The picture is designed to influence the person. Let’s say they want to train people to hate the President. They will put the President’s face on a screen and shock the subject. After a while, the person is going to react every time he see a picture of the President or has him brought to mind. He will go into a panic and will learn to hate the President.”I’m pretty sure this is the exact method that Trump thinks Obama and Hillary used to make people hate him. Anyway, the actual aliens don’t need such crude methods to manipulate our minds; instead they just rip our souls out in an astral abduction. However, apparently the government has an entire “Psi Corps” that can do the exact same thing as well through “mind melds”. Occasionally, the government aliens work together. There’s also the induction, in which an alien’s spirit would enter someone’s body and just sort of hang out there, watching everything the person would do. However, Nichols stresses that this not like a “walk in”, in which a spirit will quickly move into a body when the actual owner is clinically dead for a short time, you know like in that Twilight Zone episode (you know the one).“A “walk in” may occur in many other instances. Let’s say Uncle Hector sexually molested Johnny when he was seven years old.”Oh boy, here we go.“Johnny found it so terrible that he decided to leave instead of experiencing the molestation. Next thing you know, Johnny is gone. Before Uncle Hector realizes that the body is dead, another being steps in and takes over. The parents then notice tremendous changes in the child. Later on, the parents might find out that Uncle Hector was molesting the child and they chalk up the drastic change to be a result of the abuse. They never considered that Johnny is no longer Johnny but is now Billy. He rapidly learns to respond to the name Johnny and the life that goes with it.”……………………………………………………………………………………………………..What are you?Well, after that I’m sure you’re wondering whether you were abducted by aliens. Or least Nichols thinks you are. Not to worry, Chapter 17 clarifies that if you were, memories will most likely start leaking out.“Further indications of being abducted also include the following: memory loss, missing time, a pronounced and continued ringing in the ears, waking up inexplicably in the middle of the night, and sudden psychic abilities appearing that are not otherwise explained.”So you know, when you go into work or school tomorrow and give a courteous nod to that guy you secretly hate and accidentally snap his neck, it’s a sign that you were abducted by aliens. Just a heads up. Also, trauma blocks everyone’s natural ESP abilities.Chapter 18 is all about implants. So alien implants tend to be biological in nature and get injected straight into your gonads in most cases in order to “transmit when the subject is sexually excited”. Why are aliens so obsessed with sex? Regardless, a Brooklyn guy visited Nichols in order to be “scanned for implants” (I guess he just does it out of his garage or something), and Nichols found an implant that was receiving and transmitting at the same time, something that should be impossible, and the transmissions for piggybacking off the frequency of Channel 25. Implants were found in other people in their brain’s optic center, ears and scrotum. One guy even reported how a crystal implant was pushed out of his penis. Nichols also reveals that it seems he was one of the programmers of the Montauk Boys, and thus he’s the only person who can shut their implants off. Also, he was programmed too.Chapter 19 explains how to get rid of your implants. Physical ones require you to visit a doctor (and by doctor I mean an old, crazy-eyed radio technician), while astral implants require you to cleanse your Chakras. Seriously, there’s step-by-step instructions.Chapter 20 talks about a woman named Susan DaRe who met Nichols in 1995 and claimed that she was a powerful psychic as the result of being implanted at a young age by the CIA, who were bombarding her body with “sickness” and mind control transmissions. Why?“After listening to Susan’s whole story, she told me that she is targeted and that her step family is still connected to the intelligence community (CIA). Susan strongly believes the common theory that the CIA’s roots began with the Nazi’s SS. She said the reason she is being targeted is the family business. When her stepfather died, she was to be left half of it. Her stepbrother would get the other half of what was valued at about fourteen million dollars. Susan believes the intelligence community, working in concert with her ‘black magic uncle’, wanted to get rid of her so that the natural son would inherit the entire business.”Once again, carbon monoxide is your friend CIA. Either that or just run her over and cover it up as a DUI accident, idiots. But instead of behaving like logical people, the CIA instead elected to broadcast both a 1080 Mhz and the Montauk 435 Mhz signal at her. These signals caused her some brain damage, and were emanating from “24 to 36 sites” in the form of particle transmissions that are shot up satellites part of the Star Wars defense system, then bounce around the planet until they become particle waves that can be directed at anyone all for the purpose of mind controlling and/or killing a single woman over the course of months in order to cheat her out of her inheritance in the most obtuse, convoluted way possible.Christ, where’s Agent Frazier when you need her?Chapter 21 describes Nichols attempt to track the signal, during which he triangulated it to three locations; Montauk Point, Block Island and Gardiners Island. He calls this area the “Montauk Triangle” as planes apparently vanish without a trace there. Kind of odd that I never knew about this growing up, but whatever. He also randomly claims that the Red Cross might be a front for collecting DNA samples for some secret project. When driving out to Montauk, Nichols got into a serious car accident that resulted in his sinus cavity nearly collapsing;“The accident was a mystery to me. I went blank and the next thing I knew someone had hit me. It didn’t make any sense. Sometimes the secret government will have an agent create a crash. In these cases, a driver wearing a crash helmet will ram someone off the road or just hit them from behind. This has created trouble for the perpetrators because the patriot movement has traced too many accidents back to government agents. This may sound shocking to some, but it’s true. The regular media does not broach upon this territory, but since Ruby Ridge and Waco we have learned the American populace is far more upset with the government than the media would have us believe.”My, how things have changed. A friend drives Nichols to a doctor, and of course he immediately gets the idea that he was getting setup for an implant. So to alleviate the fears of the paranoid lunatic bleeding profusely from the head, the doctor kindly allows him to set up video cameras all over the hospital and arrange for his friends to watch all entrances and exits. When Nichols was finally put under anesthesia, he was visited by two Pleiadians, who informed him that the doctor was also an unknowing Pleiadian agent, and was putting in a titanium plate that blocked particle transmissions.“The operation on the physical plane turned out to be routine and successful. I was back at home within a day. After a short recovery period, I was visited by an off duty policeman whom I know. He brought an advanced stun gun with him and had me demonstrate it on him. The gun had three settings that read: “freeze”, “stun” and “limp”. Under his directions, I put the setting on “freeze”, pointed the gun at him and pulled the trigger. The man just ceased to move. I released the trigger and he came back to normal. I did the same with the setting on “limp”. He told me not to activate the stiff setting because it would leave him with sore muscles.”It’s never explained where the cop got this thing, by the way.“The mystery of the accident was now solved. The policeman was showing me that some sort of agent had sat in his car waiting for me to reach an intersection. He pulled the trigger and I went out, losing control of my van. A speeding car then hit me. Blood from my forehead spurted right onto a section of the map demarcating the particle accelerator. Occultists call this a blood warning and I took this as an omen.”Who needs a GPS when you can just cut your hand open and bleed all over a map to find your destination? Anyway, Nichols also discovers that his titanium plate could also somehow block transmissions to other people up to twenty feet away.Chapter 22 postulates that the government is retrieving crashed UFOs in order to gain more knowledge about them, and the general public can use “understanding” in order to combat the secrecy. Chapter 23 is basically a retread of the last chapter of the previous book, and for the sake of my sanity, I’m not going to recap it again. The only addition is that Nichols claims that the New Age movement is going to save us all. via /r/StrangerThings

This Amel 53 Super Maramu comes equipped with every piece of cruising gear you would need and is ready to set sail tomorrow on her next bluewater journey. Offering features such as a solar array, wind generator and prop generator for providing charging without running her diesel generator or reliable turbocharged Perkins Diesel. And with a built in watermaker for generating freshwater while underway, combined with a robust communications package consisting of a long range SSB (Single Side Band) radio, Sail Mail, and WeatherFax you can be prepared for cruising in any latitude imaginable.
The sailplan is a perfect choice for extended cruising with her ketch rig which offers the ability to easily balance the vessel in any weather condition, and with every crucial control line routed to the cockpit and her factory installed electric winches and furling headsail, mainsail, and mizzen sails there is rarely a need to leave the safety of the spacious and comfortable center cockpit.
This vessel features a robust inventory of spare parts, an extra set of sails, two dinghies, and an amazing amount of storage space that makes this Amel the perfect choice for exploring the seas in comfort and safety. Contact me directly so I can share the full inventory of spares as well as a recent Survey on this vessel.
This the same vessel featured in the popular Cruising Blog S/V Delos, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvLc83k5o11EIF1lEo0VmuQ
The Super Maramu, the culmination of a series of six different Amels produced in Henri Amel’s lifetime, was first introduced in 1989 and was discontinued in 2005, the year Amel passed away, after a production run of 497 hulls. It is very much a production boat in that most everything about it is set as firmly in stone as possible at the factory. New Amels are delivered, quite literally, ready to sail anywhere in the world with option lists that are very short. You either buy into the Amel system, or you don’t, and if you don’t you are well advised to buy another boat rather than try to make one of these into something it isn’t.
As on all Amels, the focus aboard the Super Maramu is very much on comfort and convenience. The boat, consequently, is very systems intensive. Standard equipment includes a generator, washer-drier, a fridge and seperate deep freezer, and a microwave oven, not to mention myriad lesser bits of kit, including a vacuum cleaner, hair drier, and a specially designed shopping cart.
The same philosophy pertains on deck and the boat is designed to be operated from the confines of the well-protected center cockpit by a single individual capable of lifting no more than 50 pounds. Both the in-mast mainsail and headsail are controlled with push-button electric furlers; the smaller in-mast mizzen is controlled by a direct-drive furler turned with a winch
handle. All sheet winches are electric. The power windlass, replete with chain counter, can also be operated from the cockpit, as can the integral anchor washdown system installed in the bow roller. There is also a retractable bow thruster to help out when docking, though it is necessary to step out on deck to handle dock lines.

Descriptions
Accommodations
The Amel 53 Super Maramu offers a center cockpit layout that affords a very deep & protected center cockpit for security while on deck while giving you a large aft cabin with a huge double berth.
As you descend the companionway, the well equipped offshore galley is to port with a great nav station to starboard. Moving forward is the U shaped dinette to port with additional refrigeration under the seats. To starboard is a straight settee.
Forward of the main bulkhead is the head to port and an open forward cabin with berths port & starboard.
Aft of the companionway to starboard is the passage way to the aft stateroom. There is a single berth outboard in the passageway that makes for a very comfortable and secure sea berth.
The aft stateroom features a large double berth to port with a dressing area/desk area to starboard. There is a large hanging locker and large head with shower.
The stowage is excellent throughout the boat. Amel certainly had long range cruising in mind and provided a place to put everything.
