It’s been a hot second, but we are back with more “The Inquisition finds Mata Nui”

Funnily enough the campaign is over now.

So hopefully I’ll be able to finish these soon.

Refresher on our Dramatis Personae

Emilia Cross: Adeptus Mechanicus tech priestess, formerly a Lexmechanic but she got a promotion when she promised to help the other Ad Mech murder Dominus. Has a bunch of guns and two spider robots she stole from Velika. Currently wearing a Kanohi Mohtrek.

Oswald: Guardsman with a big sword.  Actually a robot made by... someone.  Turned into a Toa.  Turns out he’s a Toa of Time.  Currently wearing the Kanohi Vahi.

Treytor (nee Honour): Nonbinary lesbian with mild loyalty issues.  Currently wielding a definitely cursed sword of darkness they stole from Teridax.  Also has a Necron Tesseract Vault Knife and is wearing the Kanohi Ignika.

Dominus Elementum: The team’s former head inquisitor, definitely working with at least the Necrons and Tau, probably other Xenos too.  A chill dude if you ignore the heresy and clear insanity.

 After acquiring a Vortex Bomb from Dominus’s office (and getting their boss, Ordo Chronos Inquisitor Alice Lectio, to officially declare him a rogue inquisitor), our intrepid “heroes” head back down to Daxia because what else are they going to do.

Helrynx wants them to get the Staff of Artakha from the Shadowed One, because they’ve proven themselves capable of doing some absurd shit so why not ask them to do the impossible.

They immediately discard any ideas of negotiation and decide to break in from a side beach.

They get a boat and sail on over to Odina undetected, climb up a cliff, and run straight into Airwatcher.

He’s quite surprised to see them, and they fight.

Fortunately, Oswald is a monster in combat and drives Airwatcher off in like 2 turns.  

The party realizes he’s probably gonna report that they’re breaking in, so they’re on a little bit of a time crunch now.

They cut their way into the Dark Hunter citadel and start sneaking around, realizing that only one of them has any training in stealth.

Additionally, Lariska is doing some acrobatic knife training in the way of where they need to go which is awkward for them.

Thinking quickly but not hard, Emilia summons a duplicate of herself and send the duplicate to distract Lariska.

The duplicate almost eats shit and dies (because, Lariska) but accomplishes her primary goal of getting Lariska out of the way.

The party continues walking on down when they see someone else in the hall alongside them.

It’s Velika.

Naturally, the party is very concerned about this, and make the decision to send Treytor to go bother him while Oswald and Emilia steal the Staff.

Strangely enough both plans go pretty well... for the start.

Oswald and Emilia get to the Staff, find Avak also about to steal it, and instead bribe him with a lot of cash to give it to them, which he accepts.

And talking with Treytor is pain for pretty much everyone involved so Velika is adequately distracted.

So distracted, in fact, that he doesn’t notice Lariska sneaking up behind him (he crit failed his perception check).

She gets a knife to his throat and demands to know what the hell is going on.

At this time The Shadowed One, having been told about what’s going on, shows up, and things start happening very quickly.

Velika freezes Lariska and gets out of the headlock.

Emilia and Oswald show up.

The Shadowed One removes his outer armor and Trazyn the Infinite, Necron Overlord, walks out and demands the Ignika from Treytor.

Velika tells him fat chance, that’s not what their deal was.

Oswald pulls out his sword because that’s his thing.

Emilia starts making copies of herself to go grab some things.

Treytor quietly calls Botar and asks for a pickup.

Trazyn starts firing Gauss beams down the hall, Velika opens up portals with his Olmak to swallow the bolts.

Botar shows up, very annoyed, and gets the party out of there.

Lariska dies in the battle between two demigods but that’s not super relevant.

The team arrives back on Daxia, with Emilia carrying a lot more crap, including a bunch of fancy weapons and a toa in a stasis tube.

Helrynx is notably impressed that they did it and writes off the blowing of some level of Botar’s cover as an acceptable cost.

The Staff is taken to the chamber and prepared to be used soon (tm).

The party is told that they’re next mission will involve them going to steal an Olmak from Makuta Tridax, and that their new boss is showing up.

A very buff Matoran named Mazeka shows up and starts yelling at them.

The party is not amused.

i read some VE up to 1855. i didnt wanna like occeus better but that was a really good apology monologue. dammit. i'll have to rearrange the tier list and put him in the "kinda whatever" category. also move taz down idk why i put her in the top bracket before. that's clearly where yeshin goes

my hatred for necron is completely irrational though so he's never moving up

I like Snowbound Blood, maybe even more than the main Vast Error honestly. Secily is really god damn good, but if I have to choose, Oricka, Mshiri and Endari are great, and fucking, Necron is such a WONDEFUL Himbo, and compliments Secily quite well during the investigations, just. They good...

Main VE Characters though, Ellsee and Jentha for sure. Though... Mimesis my Beloved...

Secily, having had a (mostly) bird lusus, will preen those she cares about. It's her little way of telling someone she loves them. Yeshin, Mshiri, Sestro, Hamifi and Oricka are the most obvious recipients, but once or twice she's adjusted Necron's hair or pulled dirt off his shirt.

Secily preening her variety of close/important people in her life is god tier
