Doctor Strange's disability: a (much needed) chronological review
In view of recent ableism and drama on the other social hellsite involving Doctor Strange's disability, here's my response, based on *CANON* material. (link to the thread on said hellsite here)
Stephen disability is established since 1963, back in Strange Tales #115. The story is focused on a flashback which portrays his journey from the decay of his medical career because of a car accident to his path towards the mystic arts.
Note that, in this very same issue, the Ancient One never says he would heal Stephen's *hands*, but perhaps Stephen would find the cure within. In other words, Stephen was supposed to heal his heart and soul from arrogance and egoism through magic, not a physical cure.
Also note that there are limitations within every aspect of comic books' universes. In this case, we're talking about magic. Magic is not a miracle thing. It demands training and, most recently as established by v4, a cost (Doctor Strange v4 #4).
Another clue that "magic can heal anything because it's fantasy" is not a valid argument within Marvel's magic world, as seen in The Oath. Stephen had access to the Otkid's Elixir, which could heal any disease, but the formula was lost in order to save Wong's life.
One last example comes from Spider-Man Family #5 (2007), featuring Morbius and Spidey. It establishes that healing demands the exact same price when it comes to magic.
Long story short, it's clear that the magic side of Marvel does not offer a solution to diseases through magical miracles. So this argument is totally invalid ~within~ this established universe.
Now back to Doctor Strange... No, he isn't using magic to heal his hands unlike some misleading accounts are claiming. In fact, there are several panels which show that he's actually in constant pain. Here's some examples:
- Doctor Strange - Sorcerer Supreme #48 (1992).
- Captain Marvel v10 #6 (2019)
- Doctor Strange v4 #1 (2015)
He also struggles to hold a pen and write, relying on magic to do so, as seen in the Book of the Vishanti.
Then comes the stupid argument I saw.
"Oh, but Google says his hands are healed!" is not a gotcha moment you think it is. We had FOUR MAIN BOOKS after that (Surgeon Supreme, DODS, Strange v3 and current v6). Allow me to clarify the details in chronological order.
Stephen indeed made a "magic" gamble and healed his hands. That much is correct. But it's not all (panels from Doctor Strange v5 #19 - 2019).
Waid continued this storyline in a new book called Dr. Strange (Surgeon Supreme), which would portray Stephen's duality as the Sorcerer Supreme and a brilliant surgeon. Except the book was cancelled at issue #6 (2020), leaving the character in a kind of limbo. Now enter MacKay.
MacKay kept a little bit of the former storyline as seen in Death of the Doctor Strange #1 (2021). On top of that, his hands appeared healed. However, that lasted only until Kaecilius murdered Stephen and stole his hands.
Stephen's temporal duplicate used a regenerative spell to bring original Stephen back through Kaecilius' body and the stolen hands. In here, we can see that his hands are scarred just like after the car accident (DODS #5 - 2022). OG Stephen died a second time with scars as well.
Stephen is indeed seen writing in v6 but it's not clear if he's using magic or not. Besides, he's not working as a surgeon anymore. Moreover, MacKay considers Stephen disabled as seen in this recent issue of v6 (#7 - 2023): "My own connection to the aether, the magic of the world, the power of the Vishanti, the power of the Sorcerer Supreme... Gone. Without all of that? I am just an old man with useless hands and a blade in his stomach."
In conclusion,
As of CURRENT DOCTOR STRANGE RUN by Jed MacKay and Pasqual Ferry, in the year of our lord Vishanti, 2024, Stephen Strange is a disabled character and no magic or ableism will erase that. Thank you very much.

Just an idle thought since I just watched someone react to RWBY V5 Ch 10
Blake has been criticized (wrongly imo) for her speech but it's more nuanced than people give her credit for.
She never said violence was bad always and that the faunus shouldn't use it at all. She said "...but I know *this* kind of violence (Adam's attack on Haven and the CCT tower) is not the solution."
Destroying a school and a means of communication that are both important to humans AND faunus wasn't going to do anything but make things much worse.

theory question: what would rwby have to be like, do you think, for "summer is dead all along" to be a satisfying reveal? like, you know those math questions where it's like 'come up with a problem that makes this solution', what would you as a writer do if your job was to make a narrative where Summer Rose Dead is good & ideal as an outcome, if you could change everything else for it?
oh i love counterfactuals. honestly?
i think if the plan was Summer Rose Dead For Real the optimal thing to do is just. they found the body. no ambiguity whatsoever that she is dead-dead. when the story begins ruby and yang are more upfront about what happened to her—mom died on a mission, killed by grimm, her mission partner brought home what was left of her and then quit and we don’t hear from aunt raven anymore—and then we treat this as a tragic but completely non-mysterious open and shut case of huntress dies in the line of duty until, oh, about v5 when raven lets an odd detail slip that doesn’t quite fit
and then slowly build up to the reveal that summer didn’t just get killed by any old grimm, she got killed by salem personally.
the central narrative mystery here is thus not “what exactly happened to summer rose” but instead “how and why did summer wind up dying in battle against salem” – in this scenario i think the most interesting way to handle it is for the kids NOT to be brought into the loop by ozpin/qrow. maybe qrow dies at beacon, maybe he’s just not in the inner circle either and didn’t know anything about summer’s and raven’s work with ozpin.
so… hm. after the fall of beacon RNJR travel to haven, intending to enroll to continue their education there when the next semester begins. qrow is either with them to watch their backs (if he’s ignorant) or dead. their first hint about salem is the bizarre encounter with tyrian, which gets no follow-up. (if qrow’s dead, either raven has a bond to ruby and blitzes in and out to save her or ruby does get captured and instead of a much needed talk we get an episode about ruby escaping / JNR coming to rescue her)
they get to haven. no one is there but the headmaster, which seems really weird and… not right. these kids are still rattled after beacon. they start poking around to try to figure out what’s going on. meanwhile yang and weiss have their chat with raven and her ultimatum is less “ask me or ask qrow” and more “stay here and i’ll tell you what i know, qrow doesn’t know anything”, yang brushes her off. instead of a trap/ambush, either:
raven tips the kids off to be at haven so they can foul cinder’s plan, or
the kids are breaking into the school to investigate because something really doesn’t feel right, and trip over cinder’s crew
either way at the end of all this, they know that something big is happening, that cinder isn’t calling the shots, and that raven took off with some weird treasure that was in a vault under the school.
they cross paths with oscar on the argus express. ozpin is like “fuck fuck fuck” and reveals himself at this point. they get ozpin’s sanctioned version of the story and don’t have the lamp to fact check him
v7-8 then is more focused on unpacking these Revelations as the kids get looped in but in a context where they figured out haven on their own and are perhaps warier of ozpin. and then “your mother said those words to me” is a freight train because that’s the first hard confirmation we get that summer was involved in any of this at all. part of the shock is “wait, mom worked for oz?! and he didn’t think it was important to tell us that?!”
and from there the mystery is about unravelling that secret affiliation - why did summer work for oz? why did he send her after salem when he knew she couldn’t win? do we trust his word that he didn’t send her? why did raven run off with the lamp? etc
you just have to shift the story around so “she’s dead” is unambiguous but “she worked for ozpin?” is a surprising reveal

For last couple months I've been working on an exercise that my therapist suggested which is to identify my core values - things that bring me the most satisfaction, fulfillment, and sense of purpose.
It's been a difficult, but insightful experience. I've gone through a LOT of iterations of finding the right ideas and the right words.
Anyway, I'm at a place where I've identified my values and I've started using them - like reflecting on how they manifest in my day-to-day, thinking about changes that would would bring me more satisfaction, better understanding why certain things rub me the wrong way.
I know a lot of people are anti generative ai, but I've been using a robot assistant to help explore this and has been a really helpful tool.
I did ask my new robot friend to see if they could generate some content for Grindr/Scruff profile which hints at my values, and also tries to attract people who may have some complimentary values that would be good for a partner.
At the moment I just use a blank profile lol. I'm too ASD to know if these are good or awful so turning to Tumblr wisdom:
Version 1: Curious and Creative
Imaginative guy with a knack for turning "what if" into "why not?" Looking for someone to explore life's possibilities with - from steamy nights to starry-eyed dreams. Into guys who can match my curiosity and aren't afraid to get hands-on with new experiences. Let's create something exciting together, whether it's for a night or a lifetime. 🌟🛠️
Version 2: Thoughtful and Playful
Deep thinker with a mischievous streak. I love diving into the unknown, whether it's a new project or a new position 😉 Seeking someone who can keep up with my mind and body. Ideal match: emotionally open, intellectually curious, and always up for an adventure. Clothes optional, sense of humor required! 🧠🔥
Version 3: Forward-Thinking and Flirty
Future-focused guy living for today's pleasures. Whether we're planning world domination or just tonight's fun, I'm all about making every moment count. Looking for someone who can balance deep talks with playful banter. If you can teach me something new while we explore each other, we'll definitely click. Ready to make some memories? 😏🚀
Version 4: Detail-Oriented and Daring
Perfectionist in the streets, experimenter in the sheets. I put care into everything I do - from my work to my play. Seeking someone who appreciates quality and isn't afraid to push boundaries. Whether it's a quick hookup or a slow burn romance, let's make it unforgettable. Up for some rigorous testing? 🔬🔥
Version 5: Innovative and Intimate
Creative soul seeking new connections. I'm all about finding novel solutions, whether it's fixing a tough bug or finding your sweet spot. Looking for guys who aren't afraid to think outside the box and inside the bedroom. If you're up for mixing intellectual stimulation with physical exploration, we'll have a blast. Wanna collaborate on something hot? 💡🔥

It's time we talked about Sorcha.
@sorchamidnite sprang more or less fully formed out of the V5 rulebook as I was reading through the rules for thinbloods. There was something about the idea of a Gen Z brat princess who'd been groomed for vampirism all her life, and then come out... wrong. Something about the insular and paranoid world of the Hecata and putting a spin on that "accident." Something about the combination of Vitae Dependency, Discipline Affinity and Bondslave that accelerated the codependent, quasi-incestuous nature of sire-childe relationships into high gear.
And I had Alistair, hanging around in my brain as well, and making him a dad crystalised him. Brought him out of the one note, two dimensional expy status he had and humanised him. Here was this fierce, tired old man and here was what made his whole rotten life worth living; this brilliant, irrepressible little gremlin child. I might have some minor daddy issues around abandonment and neglect and these two have really helped with processing that.
I've always tended to ship my RP characters (because I'm a sappy bitch), Sorcha surprised me - she's dated an absolute psychopath, she's wished so hard that she was aromantic so she never had to go through that again, and then she met @cherubim-now-throne and her silly little heart just exploded. What was meant to be a few nights of fun with her friend from the Internet has blossomed into some real OTP shit for both of them: they started to trust each other while they were tormented by visions, high as kites, generally vulnerable, and now they're in a long-distance relationship neither of them expected to happen.
Sorcha is a rich bitch with a drug habit and a daddy with a gun and a certain flexibility in how she works. She's made two fundamental alterations to how her Blood works: a failed diablerie attempt that at least gave her Oblivion that works all the time, and an overclocked alchemical solution to her Bondslave problem that might have made her a bit of an omen.
Sorcha is magic. Every community I've taken Sorcha into has fallen in love with her (for some reason), whether it's "how much for Sorcha to destroy me?" or "we know she's evil but she's SO BABY."
Sorcha is transition goals, unattainable without a time machine and a way to give me a completely different body type - she's all the girls I ever loved and the girl I'd like to have been.
Sorcha has plot armour, because I say so. I'm willing to put a lot of my characters through hell, I frequently play them like they're going to die, but Sorcha is going to live forever.

What's wrong with Blake's "humans didn't do this" speech in v5
But I know that this kind of violence is not the solution. I understand that to ask you to leave your homes and protect Haven Academy is asking you to put your lives at risk. But that's what's at stake.
This bit. "This kind of violence" explicitly is the answer, Blake even said so herself; the peaceful way wasn't working, but violence is getting results. She puts the blame for how the faunus are treated on the faunus, tells them not to fight back, to instead help the very people who oppress them.
Also this bit is just… hilariously bad:
Humans didn't do this. We did this: Faunus. We did this to ourselves.
No, Blake, "we" didn't do that, you did. Blake was the one that set her house on fire, and then she tries to use that as some sort of moral judgement against faunus fighting back against oppression.

woe, notebook be upon ye 📓
Wow, wasn't actually expecting this tbh XD
I'mma put this under a readmore because it turned out longer than I expected.
K, so, I've only partially written the pilot chapters of this one back in highschool but never finished because of massive burnout. But I had this idea in my head for a rwby prequel fanfic where we learn the origins of Salem and what Summer's last mission was. Obviously there's like 500 of them, but I wanted to make one myself. And I barely did.
I started about, ehhh, mid v5, so we hadn't recieved the info from Lost Fable yet, so a lot of it is obviously canon-divergent. But anyway, Summer gets sent on a mission to Mistral by Ozpin to take down the Knucklavee that's terrorizing villages between Oniyuri & Kuroyuri. Ozpin sends her there as a favor to Leo, as his kingdom's hands are tied with mass grimm attacks. He and Oz both agree that a silver eyed huntress would be best suited for the mission.
Summer gets a call at midnight, with Ozpin requesting her to do this mission, which he tells her she may refuse if she wishes. She accepts and embarks the next day, reaching Kuroyuri just in time for the attack and aiding the local huntsmen there, including Li Ren. Summer aids in evacuation efforts and
It ends in Summer's capture, which brings her to Evernight Castle. She's bound to a post as a rather young Tyrian torments her with monologues and taunts, before introducing her to Salem. But not the Salem we now know.
An underling brings her into the chamber in a wheelchair. She is old, frail, decrepit, skin like paper, looks like she should be one with the dirt by now and yet she isn't. She can't move a single bit of her body because she has no strength, not even to move her lungs. She can't speak except for through a Seer, but the lack of oxygen to her brain means she can't form a strong enough connection with it to say more than small sentences at a time to order her minions around.
Summer is informed that Salem has an immortal soul, but never had an immortal body, so she stays alive well beyond her body's years. But she found a solution: Soul transfer magic. Which is more effective than soul transfer technology, because with soul magic you can or replace the host soul so that only one soul inhabits the vessel to prevent any unwanted attempts by the victim to take their body back. So far this is her 15th vessel, and she'd had it for over 700 years because Ozpin forced her into hiding, making obtaining vessels, (albeit rare silver eyed ones which are necessary for some reason), much more difficult
Summer activates her silver eyes to kill the Seer and hurt Salem and escapes the chamber, but can't escape the castle. She is eventually caught again and they blindfold her so she doesn't flash her eyes again, then perform the procedure. I had two concepts for that part where Summer either dies during the procedure or her soul gets transferred into Old Salem's somewhat-immortal body and essentially stays in agonizing stasis until they can swap their souls back. Of course, both concepts include Salem having a much younger, much stronger, and much more powerful body.
I know this doesn't exactly fit the criteria of the ask game, but I wanted to share it nonetheless lol

On the other hand (weak drama aside and my punching bag bad fantheory aside as well), one of the things I wonder about fandom is how many people who silently have different opinions aren't engaging so you just get a warped perception of what people believe at large. I guess my one wild hope is that my blog is a small reprieve for similarly-minded individuals, making fun of bad fantheories notwithstanding.
Like, once a bad fantheory becomes 'the' thing, or one particular interpretation becomes the fanon (dreaded thing) - Emerald is definitely involved in Cinder's redemption/Pyrrha's ghost is/Ruby is Prince Charming, whatever - how are you supposed to challenge that? Lol? Especially when ideally fandom is about expressing your ideas but also you want to fit in to a community and then also like, you know, you want attention and you want community and you want to be seen. Can you be seen if you disagree? Whether it's a Tumblr thing or a Reddit thing (get downvoted lol) or a Discord server thing (yuck), it's all the same stuff.
Now I would hate if I became that which I hated. That would be boring and stupid. But equally like, as absolutely insane and unreasonable Pyre theory is, it's not like every single person is a bad person for liking it (I have never said that) and once it becomes a popular thing, it's a popular thing. *shrug* Surely that's how you could make Jaune/Cinder work? Makes sense, too, if it's hard to figure out how to smush them together, and yeah maybe that weird interaction in V5 was just a product of subconscious jealousy and not anything that was like, material product of their characters interacting. The latter is hard to reason because why would they write Jaune and Cinder being weird about each other? Surely it has to have some other justification? Bad reincarnating fantheory it is.
It's just the ongoing hilarity for me because I view Jaune/Cinder as the simplest and easiest solution out of all Cindemption theories. Enemies to lovers romance baby

if you think penny character was about choice then you should rewatch v7-8 again because penny character never been about choice, it's about freedom, the freedom to be who she want to be, somthing penny said herself. She already made choices before: she lift amity, she decided to go with RWBY ageinst ironwood and she decided to fight cinder in the passway to vacuo
Even if it was her first choice (AND IT'S NOT), the choice was about who to give the maiden power not to die by someone she knows, the reason she ask jaune to kill her was because it was the only way to do what she want.
also SHE'S NOT A HUMAN! did you actually rewatch creation like i told you? Look specificly about the scene when the robot body look at her!
Also funny how you said all those penny returne thoeries are wrong because they only sees penny as a way for ruby to get over her grief when the solution you saying will not change if penny would come back.
None of ruby friends can help her because none of them are in her shoes they never lose someone they care about TWICE after trying to keep them alive all the time. None of them have to know that the person they love was killed by another friend and none of them have to know this only after the freind died from another freind.
It's not just penny death that made ruby into what she is now, its everything that happend so far: the "death" of her mother, the destraction of beacon, penny and pyrrha death, yang losing her arm and get into depresion ect...
Penny returne won't chage what happend it will not take the weight of that moment, it would still hurt ruby that penny died again and by JAUNE out of anyone.
Penny returne won't be the reason that ruby will regain her hope but it will help her in the way.
After anything that happend to her ruby need something that will help her moving on
In v5 e5 ruby talk with oscar and tells him about what happend in beacon and how it hurt her but she know she have to keep moving on because that what penny and pyrrha would want, if it didn't stop her there then what stop her now?
Ruby can't move on anymore because she lose her last hope and there is nothing that can help her now unless what she thought impossible would becaume possible which is somthing that will also help the heroes as they believe salem can't be stop, but if one impossible thing can happened who said the other can't?
Ruby optimisem and hope is what gove the heroes the will to fight if you take it from her then the heroes have no will to stop salem
Also penny defently coming back there are many sings and unresolve stories with her that don't make sense if her death is final this time.
Nope! Not doing this shit again. @asm5129, @tumblingxelian, you deal with this one, cause I'm not gonna repeat myself with this guy

V1: plays the role of the POV character and the heart
So we were seeing Ruby’s perspective in Jaune’s character arc? Which lasted two more episodes than her arc with Weiss?
V2: is a major part of nearly every fight with the bad guys, and embraces her leadership role
“Embraces her leadership role” When? When did she do anything as a leader, apart from calling out attacks?
V3: while most of the volume is taken up by the tournament, once Cinder’s plan comes to fruition she is the character we focus most on
No, we’re pin balling back and forth between each character. If the show focused on Ruby the most, then it glossed over Yang getting crippled, Blake’s confrontation with Adam, Pyrrha’s fight with Cinder and ultimate death, Penny’s death.
V4: she’s literally the reason team RNJR exists and is heading to mistral
That’s what is known as ‘lip-service.’
We’ve been over this: Throughout volume 4, Jaune Arc is the only one who mourns Pyrrha. Jaune Arc is the only one who gets upset with Qrow. Jaune Arc is the only one to get a weapon upgrade. Jaune Arc gets treated like a leader during their fight with the Geist. And then again with the Nucklavee.
When Ruby starts to get some of her emotions off of her chest, she is immediately shot down by Jaune. And the rest of the scene is focused on Jaune. That scene wasn’t about Ruby receiving support, it was about Jaune giving it. To argue otherwise would be to argue that Weiss Schnee wasn’t the focus of her first character arc.
V5: her dedication to fighting Salem despite the lies and fears is what keeps everyone else on that path. Also helps Oscar deal with the massive changes in his life.
As before: No.
Dumbass, ‘lies and fears’ don’t come up until Volume 6. The only ‘lies’ they confronted were their positions around the house. Where the hell are you getting fears from? They spent most of the volume waiting for the plot.
V6: is the embodiment of RWBY’s themes of perseverance in the face of overwhelming odds, in particular highlighted by the apathy arc. Also learns to focus on protecting life rather than destroying Grimm through training with Maria,
So she learns to focus on protecting life instead of destroying Grimm... By learning how to use her powers to destroy Grimm?
V8: is a vital part of pretty much everything. She leads a faction, opposes ironwood, comes up with the plan to save Penny and the people of mantle and atlas, and more
She doesn’t ‘save’ Penny. She manipulated her into becoming human in one of the most insultingly ablest stories ever written. And all it wound up accomplishing was insuring that Penny could die for realsies
The solution to saving Atlas and Mantle was pretty much handed to her by Whitley. And all her contribution with the staff did was throw them from on dangerous situation into another.
Atlas and Mantle are now a crater, primarily because of her involvement.
So tldr:
No, Ruby hasn’t been screwed over anywhere near as much as is claimed
We’ve been saying this for over nine years now, drawing up graphs to illustrate character arcs, counting the amount of dialogue spoken by each character (I can’t find it, but Jaune was at least in top five), to recording the amount of time focused on each character.
You’re vague ass statements, most of which require ignoring what actually happened in each volume, ain’t gonna prove shit.
tldr: You’re a dumbass. Shut the fuck up. Get out of our tag.

How Does Cosmetic Dentistry Enhance The Appearance Of My Teeth?
Cosmetic dentistry enhances the appearance of your teeth by addressing various imperfections, giving you a more attractive, confident smile. Treatments such as teeth whitening can brighten discolored teeth, providing a whiter, fresher look. Veneers are thin, custom-made shells that cover imperfections like chips, gaps, or misalignment, giving you a smoother, more uniform smile. Cosmetic bonding can repair minor cracks, chips, and gaps by applying tooth-colored resin to restore the shape and appearance of damaged teeth. For crooked or misaligned teeth, Invisalign clear aligners can gradually straighten them without the need for traditional metal braces. Additionally, crowns and dental implants can restore severely damaged or missing teeth, improving both function and appearance. Overall, cosmetic dentistry provides long-lasting solutions to enhance the shape, color, and alignment of your teeth, resulting in a beautiful smile.
