Serendipity 1
Hades kissed Persephone’s cheek before walking out of the great hall leaving her with her lover. Hades knew, he knew everything that happened in his domain; however he knew Adrian couldn’t sire kids so he saw no harm in their affair.
Zeus had decided to hold a banquet in order to discuss “something of great importance” just the thought of it had Hades rolling his eyes. “Sebastian wait for Sephonie here.”
Hades waited for the older man to nod before he pictured himself in Olympus. He never went far without Cerebus so when he appeared with the three headed beast no one flinched.
“Abeoji.” Hades’ son, Taehyung, greeted from where he stood with the other half of the rebel twins. Persephone’s son, Jimin, waved from his seat. There was no hatred for him so Hades nodded back.
Taehyung was wearing a black blazer with sequins on the lapel. He had a black silk Gucci shirt on with red dots on it. The shirt was unbuttoned to just under his chest and a shirt matching tie that was pulled down to there. His blonde hair was styled in a part and his eyes were blue today.
“Brother. Where is your wife?” Athena asked with her hand on her son, Namjoon’s shoulder. Athena was wearing a red silk pantsuit with red silk heels that had a weird jewel arangement on it. Her shield was placed in its proper place in the back of her throne and her son was sat in front of her. Her platinum blonde hair was in a bun and she had her jewel comb in it.
“She’ll be along.” Hades said and nodded towards Cerebus who quickly ran out. Hades picked up a drink making sure to reveal his diamond encrusted, red face Rolex. He had an all black suit on, but instead of a blazer he was wearing a leather jacket. Upon his feet was black leather biker boots with spikes on them. His black hair fell around his cheek bones which he knew would make Zeus mad.
“Go get your sister Namjoon.” Athena said as the boy with the artificial dirty blonde hair nodded. He stood and rebuttoned his black blazer over his dark blue button up shirt that was unbuttoned to his stomach. He quickly walked off choosing to stay silent.
Hades turned as Demeter walked in wearing a tan gown that had black lace on it. Her black hair was cut into a bob and her jewelry was a simple teardrop onyx pendant and matching earrings. On her feet were nude platform heels with jewels on them.
“Hades.” she said with a tightness to her voice that a sister shouldn’t have for her brother.
“Demeter.” he said and picked up another glass as the door opened. He turned with a smirk as every goddess gasped softly.
Persephone walked in with her arm linked through Adrian’s. She was wearing an off the shoulder black mermaid gown with small rubies sewn into the bodice and skirt. Upon her right wrist was a pure silver wrap bangle in the shape of a snake; which of course was aimed at Athena. Adrian was wearing a black T-shirt and dark blue jeans with boots and his yellow curls fell to his shoulders.
She walked over to Hades before looking at her son, Jimin. She tapped her cheek which caused him to practically bounce over and give her a kiss on her cheek.
“Hello Eomma. How are you?” he asked smiling at her. The thing about Jimin is he is absolutely pure. He loves the happy things in life; just like his mom had. Jimin had a black v neck T-shirt on that revealed his chest under a royal blue velvet blazer. His hair was silver and his smile bright. He even had a subtle pink smokey eye on. He topped the outfit off with a red and black silk choker.
“I’m doing great.” she said resting her hand on his shoulder. Upon her neck was a silver chain that held a black onyx spider that seemed to glow.
The look on Athena’s face was priceless. Persephone had managed to remind Athena that she was friends with the, once, humans that Athena punished and Seph managed to do it in a classy way. Persephone took the drink and her throne crossing her legs to reveal he knee high platform heeled boots. The heels were like spikes and it even had spikes on it. Adrian smirked from the corner of the throne room and Hades took a seat.
“There’s my beautiful daughter!” Athena exclaimed as her daughter Rebecca walked out with Namjoon.
Rebecca was wearing a short black skirt with a purple bra on. Her brown hair was piled into a bun and she had amethyst earring in her ears. Upon her neck was an owl necklace and her eyes held dark glasses. Rebecca was stunning and she had a confidence that made her brother and cousins proud. She set in the seat in front of Athena’s and to the right of Namjoon
“So where are the rest of our siblings Demeter?” Hades asked interuppting her conversation with his wife.
“Getting ready I assume.” She said turning back to her daughter.
The sound of waves interrupted Hades train of thought and the doors flew open. Poseidon walked in with his trident in his left hand and his wife, Amphitrite, on his right.
His brown curly hair was at his shoulders now and he was wearing a black blazer, white button down shirt with the top three buttons undone, blue jeans and black boots. He smelled of Sauvage and the scar on his face was prominent.
Amphitrite’s brown hair looked wavy and she was wearing a royal blue gown that had a cape attached to the shoulders of the gown. She had a dark blue sapphire dolphin ring on her right hand and her feet held midnight blue velvet heels. Upon her neck rested a beautiful black necklaces with an ocean stone and a matching wedding band. They immediately took their thrones, all business as usual. Poseidon to the right of Hera and Amphitrite to his right.
Right behind him was Aphrodite and her son Seokjin. Aphrodite was wearing a cream satin dress with cream heels. Her honey blonde hair was put up into a bun with curls hanging off of it.
Seokjin was wearing a black blazer and tie with a white polkadotted shirt. He walked to where Jimin, Taehyung, and Namjoon was and sat down starting to talk to them as he raked a hand through his pink hair.
When the door opened again the last three children walked in along with Yoongi’s “bodyguard”.
Yoongi was Morpheus’ son there for he needed a bodyguard for when he was asleep. Which he was before coming here. He was wearing a gray sequined jacket with a white button down shirt. His black hair was missarranged but as he ran a hand through his hair it straightened up.
The second child was Hoseok, or JHope. He was Apollo’s son and was like the sun himself. he was wearing a black vneck like Jimin, a dotted white jacket and a matching black and white silk choker. His hair was a vivid orange and he had his hand in the third kid’s shoulder.
The third was Jungkook he had a black striped mesh blazer with a red Satin shirt on and the first 3 buttons undone. He was Hercules’ son and often got into trouble. His brown hair was parted and he seemed to have a permanent glare on his face.
Ares shrugged past them and sat his double battle ax in the grove his marble throne held for it. He was wearing a full gray suit with a blood red tie. His Rolex had a purple face and diamonds inlayed. He sat down to Athena’s right and the rest sat as they waited for Hera and Zeus.
Zeus walked out in a light gray suit and his brown hair in a quiff. He had a sterling silver rolex on and, of course his lightening bolt in his hand.
Hera had her chocolate brown hair piled into a bun with a diamond hair comb in. She had a pleated silver dress on and diamond heels.
“Why’d you call us here Zeus?” Hades asked holding Cerebus’ chain in his hand.
“A powerful siren has shown up. Hes looking for the human.” Zeus said without needing to elaborate.
“We have to find her first.” Poseidon said and looked at the other Olympians.
“You stick out. There’s statues of you. Everyone knows what you look like.” Jungkook said earning an elbow from Namjoon.
“Do you have a better plan Jungkook?” Hera said in a cold voice.
“Let us do it. No one knows about us; so if the siren gets close they won’t know.” the caramel brunette said with a nonchalant shrug.
The Olympians had to discuss it for a while, but it was decided that the children would be the ones to find the human.

Not necessarily. Generally speaking, the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom do not wear the same color as the bridesmaids, but each wedding is different. We recommend not to wear the exact same color with the bridesmaids. Do we have the keys to a cohesive wedding party? Try a different color for the bridal party-or lighter, or darker-or choose a complementary color. If the wedding is a formal event, Black, Gold and dark silver are also suitable. Ask the bride and groom what they think of the wedding to get guidance on your color choices. For example, if the bride party blushes, the following options are preferred by MOB and MOG:Christmas and New Year’s are all about creating memories with your family, friends and loved ones; why not create those memories in the right party dress style?
Next is choosing your color or print. Do you want a printed or textured dress or just a solid color? Holiday colors and textiles that make for great Christmas party dresses for girls and women feature rich colors like forest greens, eggplant purples or navy blues. The one-holiday color that looks great big and bright is red. For New Year’s, it’s all about going out with a bang- rock some bling on your dress in the form of metallics, sequins, iridescent embroidery cheap bridesmaid dresses, or bright beading. Corporate Women’s TV Wardrobes Have Gotten Way, Way Better Over Time
"30 Rock"'s Liz Lemon, in Season 3, Episode 9, "Retreat to Move Forward." Screengrab: YouTube
Welcome to Pop Culture Week! While you can always find us waxing poetic about the hefty overlap between fashion and pop culture, we're dedicating the next five days to the subject of our favorite music, movies, TV, celebrities, books and theater, and how that all intersects with the fashion industry.

Thanks for watching!Visit Website
In 2011, I dressed up as Liz Lemon for Halloween. This, to me, was hilarious. I wore flared low-rise jeans, a plain V-neck T-shirt and a black blazer with Converse sneakers. Wasn't it funny (I thought to myself) the way I looked like a "normal" office employee? Wasn't it ridiculous (I believed smugly) the way I had to slick back my bangs to appear "business casual?" Wasn't it outrageous to dress so simply?
Of course, in 2011, I was smack-dab in the midst of hipster insufferability. My wardrobe consisted almost solely of wolf tees and novelty prints, and while I will still stand by the merits of 1990s-inspired everything, I then dressed solely to stand apart from anybody I considered "safe." (Remember: I was the worst.) And the office workers on TV? The safest. Whether Pam Beesly's button-ups, Liz Lemon's blazers or Leslie Knope's grey pantsuits, each 2000s-created character seemed to have abandoned any semblance of aesthetic personality. And it took until the following decade to right that wrong.

In "The Office"'s second season premiere, Pam Beesly wins The Dundy for the Whitest Sneakers — a moment that lives forever in our minds and hearts not simply for her speech ("I feel God in this Chili's tonight") or even her shout-out to Keds, but to her follow-up kiss with Jim Halpert in the wake of her many stolen drinks. After all, it was the first time we'd seen Pam act out. And while most of us dismissed the relationship between her wardrobe and acts of rebellion, her pastel blouses and drab pencil skirts were always abandoned in moments of personal growth.
After all, on Casino Night, she wears a shimmery V-necked dress while flirting with Jim before he kisses her. In season three, she orders a red empire waist T-shirt that Kelly Kapoor champions mercilessly (before Creed's harassment reminds her why she dresses the way she does for work in the first place). A few episodes later, she wears a knit sweater with carefully styled hair to welcome Jim back from his stint at the Connecticut branch, and at her art show, she wears a plum sweater and a side ponytail. And as the series progressed into the 2010s, she leaned into black blazers (along with a sales position at Dunder Mifflin), into sequins (specifically, Diane Von Furstenberg ones) and fitted sweaters instead of untucked, shapeless blouses.
"The Office"'s Pam Beesly, in Season 2, Episode 18, "Take Your Daughter to Work Day." Screengrab: YouTube
Pam is initially presented to us as a quiet, introverted secretary who finds herself over the course of the series. (Terrific!) But her personality seems even meeker when juxtaposed with the louder, more suspect women of the series. Jan lives in power suits and Ann Taylor. Karen's penchant for slacks inspires Michael to suggest she consider wearing a dress to Phyllis's wedding (as if she doesn't even own one). Kelly's own focus on fashion suggests she's more into style (and even comic relief) than she is into paper sales. (And, honestly, same.) But this tendency toward surrounding lead women with characters who do take style seriously was a go-to for TV in the 2000s. Mainly, if you were a female character in a corporate setting, your clothes couldn't compete with your storyline.
Which explains the way we meet "30 Rock"'s Liz Lemon in season one — when her stye is so dowdy, so unacceptable, that Jack Donaghy stuffs cash into her hand and suggests she buys something "appropriate" for dinner. ("At a woman's clothing store.") Her penchant for blazers, sneakers and denim — easy, more androgynous fashion — paints her as a woman unable to get or keep her shit together, especially as her wardrobe often serves as a punchline unto itself.
Related Articles
Even on "Parks and Recreation," though quick to make Leslie Knope a woman capable of putting chic and interesting outfits together, first introduced us to her when she wore neutral pantsuits. And while Pantsuit Nation did go on to become a cultural tidal wave, Hillary Clinton's nod to the style only drew sartorial accolades in the 2010s. "Parks and Recreation" premiered in 2009.
This was also the year "The Good Wife" premiered on CBS and, well, helped change everything. In even the promotional poster for the show's first season, we immediately meet a woman who, while a powerful lawyer (who's also dealing with a media and marital shitshow — but that's worth another 1,000 words), had something to say in general, but also something to say aesthetically. We see her standing in a red dress and pearls, staring directly into the lens, and arguably daring us to say or do anything to challenge her. And the series progressed, not she — nor her contemporaries — strayed from pieces that conveyed the same type confidence and sense of self, even if they were personally flailing. On "The Good Wife," clothing became a type of armor. It wasn't something meant to take a backseat or to be peacocked by supporting characters, but a means of telling us even more about the ones we're clearly supposed to follow. (Perhaps unsurprisingly, "The Good Fight," the series's successor, does the same thing.)
"Veep"'s Selina Meyer, in Season 2, Episode 5, "Helsinki." Screengrab: YouTube
This continued with the debuts of "Veep" and "Scandal," both programs set in Washington, D.C. and focusing on the full spectrum of politics. Upon "Scandal"'s premiere in 2012, Olivia Pope quickly morphed into a fashion icon, earning praise for her outerwear, her casualwear and her ability to not spill Bordeaux on any of it. Meanwhile, "Veep"'s Selina Meyer (whom we also first met in 2012) still has yet to wear an outfit twice, and arguably prioritizes her wardrobe as much as she does her role in office. (This isn't a good thing, but such is the trajectory of the anti-hero and, coincidentally, one of my favorite personas ever created). Finally, female characters in corporate and political positions were afforded the luxury of both a storyline and an aesthetic personality.
Of course, in 2011, it was still a faux pas to use "dressing normal" as a punchline, even if the punchline was a beloved fictional character. But while I was dressed as a tribute to the great Liz Lemon, I was also rebelling against my own corporate past, in which I'd used six months in 2007 as a bank teller to delve into my version of Pam Beesly's closet. I was miserable at my bank job and cloaked myself in ill-fitting sweaters and too-thin slacks to disappear. Mainly, I was Pam: so afraid to venture forth and forge a path that made me happy, I sunk into a job I hated because I wasn't ready to take a risk. So I nestled into too-short slacks and untucked blouses and told myself it would be fine.
And it was. Long after 2011, mind you. Where I learned that the only thing worse than lazily dressing up as a character whose go-to clothes were "normal" is having to explain your costume to everybody at the party because they just thought you'd come from work.

20 Lady Gaga Red-Carpet Moments That Will Go Down in Fashion History

20 Lady Gaga Red-Carpet Moments That Will Go Down in Fashion History
It didn’t take long for Lady Gaga to become a household name. The singer debuted her first single “Just Dance” in April 2008, and in months, she became an international sensation—both in the music world and on the red carpet. From her iconic meat dress (made with literal meat) at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards to the showstopping pale-pink Valentino princess dress she wore to the Cannes premiere of A Star Is Born last month, the 32-year-old has always been a risk-taker when it came to fashion.
And though her looks aren’t for everyone, there’s no denying that Gaga has carved a name for herself in the fashion world. To celebrate another year of Gaga looks (and her film premiere in A Star Is Born), we’ve looked back at her most iconic red carpet moments that will most definitely go down in fashion history.
2010 MTV Video Music Awards
If there’s one look to remember Lady Gaga for, it’s her meat dress from the 2010 MTV VMAs. The singer walked the red carpet in a red-and-gold dress that resembled meat, but it wasn’t until she was at the show that she slipped into her meat dress, which was designed by Franc Fernandez and made of raw beef. In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Gaga explained that the look, consisting of a meat dress, hat, boots and bag, was a statement against the US military’s Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Policy and a message to fans to stand up for what they believe in. “If we don’t stand up for what we believe in, and if we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones,” Gaga said.

2016 American Music Awards
Gaga’s fifth album, Joanne, was met with mixed reviews. But what it did bring fans was her iconic cowboy hat and suits. One of the singer’s most beloved Joanne outfits was at the 2016 AMAs where she wore a white wide-brimmed hat and a matching pantsuit that even Hillary Clinton would envy.

The Met Gala was made for Gaga, so when she attended the event for the first time in 2015, she knew exactly how to do it. In collaboration with that year’s theme, “China: Through the Looking Glass,” Gaga wore a huge black-and-white checkered robe with a black crown and thick, drawn-on eyebrows.

2012 London Fashion Week
Gaga’s black cocktail dress at 2012 London Fashion Week might pale in comparison to her other looks, but her headpiece is what made this outfit. The singer wore a circular hat consisting of flowers to haute couture milliner Philip Treacy’s LFW show in 2012 and turned some heads while she was at it.

2013 MTV Video Music Awards
Gaga wore a cool Prabal Gurung black dress (and matching wig) at the 2013 MTV VMAs, but it’s what she wore during her performance of “Applause” that really stole our hearts. Are you all stoked about your first cruise vacation? Are you going on a cruise vacation for the tenth time and yet it feels like your first? It happens – the oceans do that to you, and there’s something about cruising in deep blue waters and having the time of your life right in the middle of nowhere. Whether you are set to sail the South Pacific Cruise, going to the Bahamas, Bora Bora, Caribbean, Key West or wherever it is, clothing is a big part of this plan – and who are we kidding when we say no?
If you think it’s all about short and casual clothes, it is, for the most part; but there are so many other things that you will be doing indoors that need a change of attire, some even with a dress code, etc. Pack your bags meticulously, because it requires your attention. Let’s talk about the “Hows,” and the “Whats” of a cruise vacation.
What To Pack For A Cruise (Checklist)
1. Sun/Maxi Dresses
Shutterstock
Carry airy, comfortable and stylish maxi dresses. Bring out those cuts, slits, necks and backless one-pieces; you will need a lot of them on such trips.
2. Shorts
Shutterstock
You should probably have a pact with yourself that you will not wear anything below your knees because it is your one chance of letting go and sunbathing – so, please don’t hamper it for anything. Plus, shorts are spelled v-e-r-s-a-t-i-l-e, which means you can use them more than a few times.
3. Evening Gowns
Shutterstock
Carry a few stylish and elegant evening gowns. There will be a lot of buzz and crazy fun on the cruise in the evenings, and you will be walking in and out of fancy restaurants, live bands, etc. Plan ahead.
4.Swimwear
Shutterstock
Needless to say, what’s a cruise vacation without swimwear, right? Don’t be shy! Do your research and doll up in bikinis like no one’s watching.
5. Sarong/Bikini Cover Up
Shutterstock
So, when there are bikinis, there are cover-ups, sarongs, etc. There’s something so sexy about the cover-up that it takes it all to the next level. These are as important, so pay attention, ladies!
6. Flip Flops
Shutterstock
You need incredibly comfortable flip flops to move around and walk around the deck. Carry one good pair of flip-flops that are not only functional but stylish too. As for the others, we will talk about them in a minute.
7. Shoes
Shutterstock
Carry sandals, heels, wedges, etc. that are comfortable and stylish. If you cannot do without pumps or stilettos, carry a pair to wear to fancy dinners. But remember, comfortable footwear is probably the best way to go about it.
8. Sunscreen
Shutterstock
Carrying your sunscreen should not even be something that we discuss here, but let’s say it anyway. You can argue all you want about sunscreen being a myth, or you like the tan from all the sun, but listen up and carry the sunscreen. There’s only so much it does, and that’s quite important.
9. Jewelry
Shutterstock
Bring out all your turquoise, coral, white and other beaded jewelry out, because adding one striking piece of accessory adds a zing to your entire cruise outfit. So you don’t always have to keep it simple, silly.
What To Wear On A Cruise
1. Cruise Dinner Dresses
Instagram
There’s not one right way to do your cruise dinner dressing, but there are ways you can go wrong – and you don’t want to do that. Don’t wear anything too skimpy, see-through or offensive. Cruise ships and their restaurants have strict dress codes that all guests need to abide by, so check with them before you leave to be doubly sure. You can wear an elegant strapless one piece, and go with neutral makeup, or wear an asymmetric floral dress and put your hair in a chignon updo, or even just wear white jeans and a satin blouse if that’s your go-to. The easiest way is to get to know the dress code, etiquette, and rules that everyone is expected to follow while on the cruise.
2. Cocktail Cruise Party
Instagram
Are you looking forward to the big cocktail party night on the cruise? Try a pantsuit or a monochrome look, an LBD or a black one tea length dress, or a bold bodycon dress that needs no accessories or additions. Make sure your shoe game is on point too – because, why not?
3. Royal Caribbean Cruise Night
Instagram
If you are going on the Royal Caribbean cruise, you know by now that it is one of the most exciting nights of the cruise. There is a dress code, theme, and a party of a lifetime that everyone looks forward to. So either shop for a look for the night or carry the best dress in your closet. A sequin gown, a backless dress, a side slit frock or anything else on those lines that you would imagine wearing to an upscale party. Go with elevated nude footwear and a matching clutch to seal the deal.
4. During The Day
Instagram
During the day, feel free to be as casual as you like, assuming that you are not planning to go about in sweats. Wear playsuits, jumpsuits, flowing Bohemian dresses, shorts, palazzos, skirts, or just about anything that keeps you comfortable and stylish. There will be a couple of dock days, so account for that and carry breathable and comfortable dresses, because you might want to explore the city.
There’s nothing quite like the sun, sea, and sand while you sail away in azure waters. Whether you were working towards a body for this vacation, or you’re still work in progress, remember to put your best foot forward and try all kinds of clothes you’ve dreamt of. Don’t get stuck up. What have you planned for this cruise vacation? Get those bags packed now. Let us know what your dream cruise look is by dropping in a text in the comment section below.

Grammy Awards serve up white roses and more subdued fashion
NEW YORK /January 28, 2018 (AP)(STL.News) — The fashion accessory of the Grammy Awards: A single white rose, either pinned or conveniently left with a long stem for red carpet vamping.
The message, of course, is a serious one as the music industry looked to follow up the anti-sexual misconduct show of black looks at the Golden Globes. This time, stars were called on to grab a white rose in solidarity. Many did, both men and women, with some also wearing the Time’s Up pins that popped up at the Globes to support the new coalition of the same name in defense of women.
Erin Cunningham, fashion news director at Refinery29.com, wasn’t sold on the white roses, going forward at least.
“It seemed kind of last-minute. As these awards show continue, organizations are going to have to figure out a way beyond just carrying or holding something on the red carpet to take the movement forward. I think the first time, seeing everyone in black at the Golden Globes, really made a statement, but we need to evolve past just wearing something on the red carpet.”
Tiffany Reid, senior fashion editor at Cosmopolitan, said ignoring such red carpet moments is precarious.
“At this point, if you’re not speaking up you’re getting criticized as much as the people who are doing things that are not appropriate,” she said.
Overall, the usual wacky carpet at the Grammys was more subdued than in years past. There was plenty of black, both traditional tuxedos and dresses and more edgy outfits.
But there was also lots of color: Thank you Sir Elton John and your Gucci sequin and crystal embellished jacket in blue, gold and silver. Bonus: Your yellow acetate sunglasses and “Elton John” rings. He was equally bedazzled as he performed “Tiny Dancer” with Miley Cyrus during the show.
Lady Gaga, Katie Holmes and Kelly Clarkson were among those who decided on black for the red carpet, including Cyrus in a nicely done pantsuit by Jean Paul Gaultier. She changed into a red tulle gown by Zac Posen to perform.
“She’s been on kind of a hiatus on the red carpet and seeing her in something that’s really classic and toned down, I think she looked really beautiful,” Cunningham said of her black outfit.
Others who walked the carpet focused more on structure.
“Ladies also chose to wear statement-making, voluminous, almost architectural designs. Cardi B, for example, wore a dress that looked almost as if it had angel wings, while Ashanti’s gold skirt billowed out in a fun lampshade silhouette,” said Rachel Torgerson, fashion editor for Cosmopolitan.com.
Suiting was clearly an inspiration for women at the Grammys. Andra Day did it beautifully in bright pink for a long dress with red trim, tuxedo lapels and pocket details. Her hair was piled high in a beehive. Eve wore a sophisticated crystal-encrusted striped suit by Naeem Khan, the jacket worn without a top underneath.
“She really hasn’t been around lately so it was a surprise to see her and she looked amazing,” Cunningham said.
Torgerson praised other such touches.
“Anna Kendrick went with a high-waisted plaid pantsuit, while Kesha’s navy blue ensemble had country vibes,” she said.
Plenty of men went for classic black tuxes, but not all.
Zayn Malik chose a pink suit with notch lapels from Richard James. Sam Smith was in vibrant green and DJ Khaled in deep red velvet, accompanied by his year-old son Asahd in a little matching look.
Overall, few stars went out of the box as in previous years.
“It seems that people really played it safe and I’m not sure why that is,” Cunningham said. “It would have been nice to see more of those JLo in Versace moments.”
Speaking of Gaga, her lace cat suit with a full statement skirt was by Armani Prive. Her long platinum hair was swept back in a fishtail braid. The look earned her high praise all around on a carpet that wasn’t quite as star-studded as usual.
Another name on top of best-dressed lists: Lana Del Rey in a custom Gucci ivory double silk crepe gown with crystal star embroidery, a soft draped V-neck and a long crystal rope necklace. She completed the look with a headpiece made of silver and crystal stars and metallic high heel platform shoes.
“In terms of just a beautiful dress, it stood out,” Cunningham said.
Reid praised Hailee Steinfeld’s strapless white body hugger with a center slit at the front. She paired it with high purple boots that had a metallic sheen.
“I loved that she was very minimal with her look. I would have gone without the boots but I still loved the dress on her and the beauty was great. The hair was sleek, pulled back. It was very minimal,” she said.
She lauded the pregnant Chrissy Teigen in a full-on silver sequin dress by Yanina Couture. It was belted above the waist, had sleeves with slits at the forearms that fell below the wrists and included a center slit, with a hem that stopped above the ankles.
“I think she’s taking maternity style to the next level,” Reid said. “At certain angles you couldn’t even tell that she’s pregnant.”
But Gaga was her best dressed.
“She gave me a Khaleesi ‘Game of Thrones’ vibe,” Reid said.
The black was a definite carry over from the Golden Globes, but also an expression that some designers are showing more black on runways, she said.
“The world is definitely not what it used to be,” Reid said. “We’re not as happy as we all were, but it’s been a very dark season in couture.”
Cardi B’s fairy godmother moment earned praise from Reid as well. It was a white lace creation by Ashi Studio that included a high-low hem, full off-the-shoulder sleeves and multiple tiers all along to provide volume to spare. What better way to show up her massive 8-carat engagement ring from fiance Offset.
“It was an interesting choice for her. It was very playful, fun,” Reid said. “It really goes with her character that has made her so popular with everybody.”
Cunningham was among those in the Gaga camp.
“I liked it,” she said. “I don’t think it was anything crazy or unexpected but I appreciate that she figured out how to make a statement without wearing meat.”
