She is simply drawing upon a (romantic!!!) genre trope!!!) and role reversal AUs and fucking coffee shop AUs about Gideon, and she’s refusing to go back to her own body, and Abigail and Magnus and Dulcie so obviously and completely believe that Harrow is in love with Gideon because they directly compare them to Abigail and Magnus, and she says she’s saving the last dance. Agh!!! Aggghhhhh!!!!!!

It's important to know that Solas never gets exactly what he thinks he wants in the end.

He wants to be the one to undo his mistake, to tear down the Veil, to make the world anew. Because it will fix him, fix his mistakes, undo the harm he has done to the world. His pride tells him it has to be his hand that does it.

In this version of the story he isn't alone in wanting the Veil gone, and many of his reasons for it he shares with the people loyal to his cause, but he does also hope it will cure his wounds that are now scars.

But the world that was is dead. Because Mythal is dead, because Felassan is dead, because countless others are dead, because he has been changed by the world for better and for worse. And there is no bringing it back.

So Ian ( @theshirallen ) tears down the Veil. The new world is not born out of Solas's pride, but Ian's love and hope for the world that will come next. Not the world of Elvhenan or the Thedas we know, but one that can have the chance to be whole again.
