"Do Anjaane" was produced by Tito and directed by Dulal Guha. It's adapted from Nihar Ranjan Gupta's story "Rater gari." The film features a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Prem Chopra, Pradeep Kumar, Utpal Dutt, Lalita Pawar, and a young Mithun Chakraborty before his rise to fame. This film inspired remakes in other languages, with "Maavari Manchitanam" in Telugu (1979) and "Aaseya Bale" in Kannada (1987).

The screenplay was written by Shafiq Ansari and Nabendu Ghosh, based on Gupta's story. The cinematography was handled by M. Rajaram, and Bimal Roy was responsible for the editing. A Unique Blend of Fashion and Empowerment: An Evening in Hurum

On the evening of December 30, 2023, the courtyard of the renowned restaurant Hurum, nestled in the heart of Sonapur, transformed into a spectacle unlike any other. Defying the winter chill, the venue radiated warmth from the crackling traditional wood fires that adorned the surroundings. The ramp itself was an artistic fusion of vegetables, fruits, bamboo, and other ethnic-rural elements, setting the stage for an unconventional fashion show.

The event unfolded with poet Nilim Kumar, author Namrata Datta, and this representative coming together to light a 'jor,' a traditional lighting device. Following this symbolic initiation, Nilim Kumar recited a poem, signalling the commencement of a truly distinctive fashion experience.

Conceptualized, planned, and flawlessly executed by Chef Atul Lahkar and Jewellery designer Wahida, the models for this remarkable show were local women who earned their livelihood by selling vegetables and home-grown food items to Atul Lahkar. The culinary maestro's restaurant, 'Hurum,' specializes in organic cuisines sourced from nearby villages, where these hardworking women play a pivotal role. In a thoughtful gesture, Atul had set up a small vegetable market adjacent to his restaurant, providing these rural women with additional space to grow their businesses.

The sellers-turned-models, under the creative guidance of renowned designer Wahida, adorned themselves with meticulously crafted ornaments and costumes. The runway came alive with their graceful strides, accompanied by the soulful tunes of folk music. The winter evening shimmered with the glow reflected in the smiles of these empowered women. Folk artists, Biren Bodo and Raghu Bodo along with the anchor Manoj Deka, added to the enchantment with both vocal and instrumental performances, further elevating the spirit of the show.

While the event appeared to be a fashion show on the surface, its underlying philosophy was profound—a showcase of providing empowerment for working women. These resilient ladies, who dedicate a significant portion of their lives to the insistent pursuit of livelihood, found an ally in this event by Atul-Waheeda. While the show may not revolutionize their daily lives, it undoubtedly strengthened their confidence to face the ongoing challenges.

A resounding round of applause is well-deserved for Atul and Waheeda, whose vision and efforts crafted an evening that seamlessly blended fashion and empowerment, leaving a permanent mark on the hearts of all who attended.

Sandeep Marwah Released Book on Artificial Intelligence and Chat GPT

संरक्षण गृहों में सुरक्षा के लिए सी.सी.टी.वी. कैमरे लगाए मुख्य सचिव श्री उत्पल कुमार सिंह ने बाल, महिला संरक्षण गृहों में स्वच्छता, स्वास्थ्य और सुरक्षा पर विशेष निगरानी रखने के निर्देश दिए हैं। ऐसे गृहों में रह रहे बच्चों और महिलाओं को रोजगारपरक प्रशिक्षण देकर उन्हें आत्म निर्भर बनाया जाय। सभी स्टाफ का पुलिस सत्यापन संरक्षण गृहों में सभी तरह की बुनियादी सुविधाओं के साथ-साथ पुस्तकालय, खेलकूद और मनोरंजन के साधन भी हों। तैनात सभी स्टाफ का पुलिस सत्यापन जरूर कराया जाय। सभी गृहों में विशेष आंगनवाड़ी केंद्र भी चलाए जाए��� मुख्य सचिव शुक्रवार को सचिवालय में प्रदेश में संचालित बाल/महिला संरक्षण गृहों के संचालकों और संबंधित अधिकारियों के साथ समीक्षा बैठक कर रहे थे। महिलाओं की संस्था में शत् प्रतिशत महिला कार्मिक अपर मुख्य सचिव श्रीमती राधा रतूड़ी ने कहा कि संरक्षण गृहों में सुरक्षा के लिए सी.सी.टी.वी. कैमरे लगाए गए हैं। नियमित रूप से इनकी मॉनिटरिंग की जाय। संस्था में आने-जाने वाले सभी आगंतुकों का विवरण आगंतुक पंजिका में दर्ज किया जाय। 10 वर्ष तक के बच्चों, बालिकाओं और महिलाओं की संस्था में शत् प्रतिशत महिला कार्मिक ही तैनात किए जाए। इसके साथ ही संस्थाओं में बाल समिति और प्रबंधन समिति का भी गठन किया जाय। 42 संस्थाओं का सोशल ऑडिट बैठक में बताया गया कि राज्य सरकार द्वारा राजकीय नारी निकेतन, जिला शरणालय एवं संरक्षण गृह संचालित किए जा रहे हैं। इसके अलावा भारत सरकार स्वाधार गृह, उज्ज्वला गृह का संचालन करती है। स्वयंसेवी संगठनों द्वारा भी संस्थाओं का संचालन किया जा रहा है। बताया गया कि नेशनल कमीशन फॉर प्रोटेक्शन ऑफ चाइल्ड राइट्स द्वारा राज्य में संचालित 42 संस्थाओं का सोशल ऑडिट कराया गया। बैठक में ऑडिट की रिपोर्ट से अवगत कराया गया। कतिपय सुविधाओं और व्यवस्थाओं को छोड़कर ऑडिट में कोई गंभीर कमी नहीं पाई गई है। उन कमियों को दूर करने के निर्देश दिए गए।बैठक में अपर सचिव महिला कल्याण श्री राम विलास यादव, निदेशक महिला कल्याण श्री योगेंद्र यादव सहित आई.सी.डी.एस. के अनेक अधिकारी और संस्था संचालक उपस्थित थे।

Do Anjaane is a Hindi drama-thriller film, Produced by Tito, it is directed by Dulal Guha. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rekha, Prem Chopra, Pradeep Kumar, Utpal Dutt, Lalita Pawar and a young pre-stardom Mithun Chakraborty.

The music is by Kalyanji–Anandji. The film became a hit at the box office. It was remade in Telugu as "Maavari Manchitanam" (1979) starring N.T.Ramarao and Vanisri.

The Kannada version Aaseya Bale was released in 1987 starring Vishnuvardhan and Nalini.

'Someday' Chronicles Rhino Hero's Inspiring Legacy, selected for KIFF

Vishal P Chaliha’s latest short film ‘Someday’ has found an honourable place in the forthcoming Kolkata International Film Festival. This is a short environmental documentary film on the retired Forest Conservator of Forest Shri Dharanidhar Boro who served in the Assam Forest Department. This film presents how Dharanidhar Boro tried to curb rhino poaching primarily in Manas and Kaziranga National Park with his non-violent way of handling rhino poachers. Dharanidhar Boro served for many years in the Agoratoli Range of Kaziranga National Park where he established a school for the villagers. The villagers living near the national park have always been influenced by rhino horn smugglers to help them locate and kill rhinos. Dharanidhar Boro endeavoured to build a positive connection with the villagers, shielding them from the influence of wrongdoers.

Director Vishal P Chaliha

Director Vishal P Chaliha is a writer and actor from Guwahati. His first feature film Sijou (2021) premiered at the 52nd International Film Festival of India in the Indian Panorama section.  ‘Someday’ (2023) is the second film he has directed. Now, Vishal is working on his next feature film. He is playing a character in an upcoming film of Rima Das.

Producer Priyam Chaliha

Any discussion on cinema, especially Indian cinema, will remain incomplete unless you mention a maverick of a filmmaker, the legendary director Satyajit Ray- one of the very few Indian filmmakers to win an Academy Award (Oscar). Ray's works always came with a new lesson for aspiring filmmakers. He made 36 movies in a career spanning 37 years. Every film is distinguishable in its way, and that it is almost impossible to pick one over the other. On his 100th birth anniversary, as the Oscar-winning filmmaker, writer, and illustrator stands tall as an eternal Bengali icon. Us at hoichoi pay tribute to the Renaissance man of Bengali cinema and his creations through Shotoborshe Satyajit, a unique collection of films directed by him and his writings later adapted into movies. Here are the 11 iconic films featured in this series.

 Pather Panchali

One of the greatest classics of Indian cinema, released in 1955, this Satyajit Ray film was produced by the Government of West Bengal. Based on Bibhutibhushan Bandhopadhyay's 1929 Bengali novel of the same name. With this movie, Satyajit Ray made his directorial debut. The film features Subir Banerjee, Kanu Banerjee, Karuna Banerjee, Uma Dasgupta, and Chunibala Devi. The story of a young boy, Apu, and his sister, Durga, and their life in a small village of Bengal. Pather Panchali is a turning point in Indian cinema, with its poetic scenes managing to capture literature into filmmaking. The film won eleven international prizes, including the coveted Academy Award, and was among the films that pioneered the parallel cinema movement.

 Hirak Rajar Deshe

A film that echoes the legacy of Satyajit Ray and his nature of challenging conventional customs. A children's movie filled with magic and music that also served as a robust satire to the oppression of state and ruling powers. Ray depicted societal issues in a subtle way, covered by humour without destroying its seriousness or sanctity. Featuring legendary actors like Soumitra Chatterjee, Utpal Dutt, Rabi Ghosh, this film is loved throughout the ages and remains an evergreen classic.

 Aparajito

The second part of The Apu Trilogy, directed by Satyajit Ray. The film starts with Apu moving to Varanasi with his family and chronicles Apu's life from childhood to adolescence in college, right up to his mother's death, when he is left all alone. The film features Pinaki Sen, Smaran Ghosal, Kanu Banerjee, Karuna Banerjee, Ramani Ranjan, Charu Prkash, Subodh Ganguly. The film won the Bodil Award for Best non-European Film of the Year in Denmark in 1967, along with other accolades.

 Abhijan

One of Satyajit Ray's cult classics. Adapted from the novel Abhijan by Tarashankar Bandhopadhyay. This film features the evils in society and the abstract helplessness of its inhabitants. Starring Gyanesh Mukherjee, Rabi Ghosh, and Soumitra Chatterjee, Abhijan is a story of a taxi driver's attempt of reinventing his life and his eventual surrender to the evils in society. The protagonist Narasingh (played by Soumitra Chatterjee) was a direct influence on the character of the cynical cab driver, Travis Bickle (played by Robert De Niro) in Martin Scorsese's film Taxi Diver. Scorsese himself has credited Satyajit Ray as an influence on his work.

 Jalsaghar

The fourth of Ray's feature films, Jalsaghar starring Bengali acting icons like Chhabi Biswas, Padma Devi, and Kali Sarkar, depicts the end days of a decadent Bengali landlord and his efforts to uphold his family prestige while facing economic adversity. Jalsaghar went on to win the Presidential Award for best film in New Delhi and played a significant role in establishing Ray's international reputation as a director.

 Chiriakhana

Based on the story by Saradindu Bandopadhyay, Chiriakhana explores the investigation of detective Byomkesh Bakshi. Starring the legendary Uttam Kumar as Byomkesh, it is a rare opportunity of witnessing the work of two luminaries of Bengali cinema in a single cinematic experience.

 Professor Shanku O El Dorado

Satyajit Ray, the filmmaker, makes way for Satyajit Ray, the science fiction writer. Helmed by his son Sandip Ray, the film tells the tale of Professor Shanku, a charismatic scientist, and his adventures. The film manages to capture the essence of the professor, loved by readers through ages.

 Gorosthane Sabdhan

The genius that is Satyajit Ray was not only limited to film making and science fiction writing. He was equally adept in writing crime thrillers and detective stories. As the creator of the fictional Bengali detective Feluda, Ray's writing prowess is second to none. Gorosthane Sabdhan is a thriller that revolves around the mystery of a lost artefact and Feluda's deductive abilities that help discover it.

 Ashani Sanket

Another iconic film that has the impact of an epic without seeming to mean to, The film is set in a village in the Indian province of Bengal during the Second World War and examines the effect of the Great Famine of 1943 on the rural areas of Bengal. Ray successfully shows the human scale of a cataclysmic event that killed many. The film won many accolades at the Berlin International Film Festival, and Ray won the award of the best music director at the National Film Festival.

 Goopy Bagha Phire Elo

The sequel to Hirak Rajar Deshe, directed by Sandip Ray. The film continues with the adventures of Goopy and Bagha after they receive their powers from the king of ghosts.

 Royal Bengal Rahasya

Another fan favourite movie, based on the immensely popular Feluda series written by Satyajit Ray. The story involves Feluda, as he investigates the case of a man-eating tiger.

The principal speaker at the event was Kulada Kumar Bhattacharya, a distinguished figure in the realm of theatre and film within the state. In his address, Mr. Bhattacharya shared his personal encounters and collaborations with Dr. Bhupen Hazarika in the context of several cinematic projects. Notably, Mr. Bhattacharya recently received national recognition through a film award for his exceptional contribution to a documentary.
