Utopia was a thriving community, the low crime rates, the financial status and job opportunities combined with an idyllic look of modern and homey made Utopia live up by its name as many people found the dream home in this Southern California land. Over five years ago, Leo Blackwood moved from Boston looking for a new opportunity because his hometown had too many disappointments for him to bare if he stayed around to feel them. Running away from his ghosts, the man took whatever could fit in his car and travelled across the country hoping to find a little bit a peace, and with time… the man did. He put his money and best efforts to build something from the ground up. Growing up, the man was incredibly social which was a contrast to his best friend Jackson who usually was a little more reserved than he was; Leo enjoyed going out with friends and often was the one to know which places were worth going to despite lines and prices. Even though he had become more reserved after finding the truth of his roots and going through a painful relationship, the man’s dream was to have a bar, a nice place that people would enjoy drinks and even food, a place filled with laughter and music… a place where sadness was the last thing people could think about.
Sadness was impossible to avoid though, as many of his regular clients came to the Honey Rooftop often to drown their sorrows in hard liquor and attempt to forget whatever pain they were carrying in their chest even if it was for a little while. Clients like Camila Grey whose bright smile had toned down in the past couple of years and seemed more rehearsed these days. Clients like Lorenzo Torres who was close enough to leave Leo without any inventory on some occasions because of how much he drank, the extremely antisocial man repealed anyone who could ever be close to talking to him every time with his personality and usually angry responses; many assuming he was just bitter and crazy but the bar owner thought of the possibility that he had simply been through too much to be “normal” anymore, he didn’t like to judge him, god knew he wasn’t worthy of judging anyone. But even so, there were other people who brought laughter and joy to the place, like the Kwon siblings who were very much known for being the life of the party any day. That night a large group of friends came in with two people who were like Utopia royalty as they were Olympic athletes who had made into the history books and brought the community’s pride even higher.
Wiping the counter with a cloth the man looked over at the sea of people the filled up every corner of his bar that night, there were suddenly a lot of college aged student which was a bit rare. Sure people of all legal ages visited Honey Rooftop but he couldn’t remember seeing that many Gen Z customers before. “Spring break already passed right?” He mumbled to himself before looking at his watch thinking he needed a break if he was going to survive the night.
“Hey, ten-minute break. I’ll be outside if you need anything.” He said to two of his employees before putting the cloth away and the moved from behind the bar and headed towards the entrance. Once outside, the man looked up at the sky for a second as he took a deep breath to enjoy the fresh air before he moved away from the door and rested his back on a wall as he pulled out a cigarette from his pocket and light it up, inhaling the smoke and holding it for a moment only to realize it a few seconds later.
“Well I guess this means I invested in the right thing.” He said as he looked at line that was still forming, waiting to be able to get inside his bar. “That’s insane.”

Exhausted. These days seemed like the Camila Grey walked around the world in auto mode, everything she did was automatized; waking up, working out, going to work, mingling with co-workers or her husband’s family. Every day seemed the same even if she did something different every day and that was because the color of her world had been changed to a humdrum scale of grey shades, the noises around her had been shut down and changed to a strange but familiar white-noise and it all had been because Matthew Van Allen.
The man who had charmed his way straight into the woman’s heart only to show his true colors shortly after marrying. “God, I can’t wait to get out of this.” Camila thought to herself as she stared at a woman’s face who Matthew was talking to. She was some rich elderly woman whom Matthew was hoping to get her support for his political campaign. If she only knew the real personality behind that perfect smile. Matthew and Camila had married rather quite quickly and even though the woman had never been a naïve or gullible person, somehow the politician managed to sleep through the cracks; he was extremely good at lying, it certainly hurt the surgeon’s pride as she had always maintained she was too smart to fall for a liar.
And yet, somehow, she had done exactly that.
“When are you two planning to have kids? I bet your children will be beautiful.” The woman said pulling Camila out of her own thoughts.
“Oh.” She said as she tried to keep a straight face and attempted to get her widened eyes back to normal before brushing away the awkwardness with a small laugh. “I guess we can only wait and see.” She said with a smile before forcefully looking at Matthew whose eyes would tell anyone how perfect their relationship was just by the way he looked at Mila. All a façade. After the dinner, the couple walked towards their cars in the parking lot holding hands while people could see them but the second their surroundings cleared the woman pulled her hand away as she searched for her keys.
“Where are you going?” Matthew said looking at her with an arched eyebrow. He wasn’t concerned about her safety, he was concerned she would do something to damage his image.
“Having a drink with friends from work.” She said opening her car, “normal couples… even the good marriages, do things apart. We don’t have to go everywhere together, Matt.” She said glaring at him.
“I don’t have to remind you why you have to behave right?” He asked causing the woman to tense with anger before she looked at him and reluctantly shook her head before getting into the car and driving away as fast as she could as the need of calming her nerves and rage grew by the minute. Once she arrived at the Honey Rooftop, Mila parked her car and waked into the bar looking around for colleagues but quickly realized she was the first one to arrive.
“Great.” She mumbled to herself before she walked towards the bar, smiling gently at some of the people she knew she had met before due to Matthew’s career. “Mila!” The bartender called her out as she finally sat down and smiled.
“The usual?” He asked before she nodded. “Whiskey coming right up.” He said.
Mila then looked down at her phone for a second as she saw a text from Matthew already but she refused to even open it, “Only a year” She mumbled to herself before letting out a sigh and rubbing the back of her neck for a second.

Seven months, Thomas had been in Utopia for seven short months and he felt incredibly out of place as the East coast had been the place he called home for most of his life. However, he even felt like a stranger in his own home; after the car crash, Thomas´s guilt and the burden he carried because of it was so big he didn’t feel the liberty of making any mistakes ever again, so he took choices that he knew would please the people around him and the people he had hurt. He had chosen a University in New York to keep close to his sister in case she ever needed him, after all the root of her disabilities and scars were his fault, the least he could do was be there for her at all times. He studied a career that would serve his family’s business, knowing that one day he had to take over his father even though he had wanted to run away and chase his own dreams when he was a kid, after the incident he had no choice but to never get out of line again.
Thomas Wolf had built his own prison the second he decided to drive while intoxicated that night. Even when he managed to stay out of legal repercussion and even his record remained clear as his father made a deal that would make it look like none of it had ever happened, he was still paying for it in some way though.
His life was no longer his own.
It had been a long day; meeting after meeting, the man had not left his office since he got there early in the morning and now that he looked out of the window from the tall building, he sighed at the sight of the dark skies. The sound of his phone making a sound to indicate a text massage had come in made him turn around and walk back to his desk where he had left his phone; Cameron Clark’s name showed on the screen with text asking if he was going to make it to the Honey Rooftop that night. “Running a little late… about to leave.” He typed back and hit sent before putting his phone in his pocket and began to save all his archives before turning off his computer and finally opening the drawer on his right to take his keys. After exiting his office and a short elevator ride after, the man got to the parking lot and got inside his Porsche and drove off to the bar. Once he parked his car, Thomas loosened his tie and removed off of his neck, unbuttoning the collar of his dress shirt after tossing his tie to the side and then got out of car, carrying his suit jacket on his hand as he put the alarm of his car and walked inside the bar, scanning the room to try and find Cameron but to no avail.
“Where the hell is this guy?” He mumbled as he walked towards the bar and lifted a hand to catch the bartender’s attention. “Hey, whiskey, please, on the rocks, no water.” He said before turning his head a little as he felt someone tapping on his shoulder.

Utopia, California had been so far everything the news and the buzz of the people had been talking about for year. Sure, the town wasn’t Los Angeles but perhaps that was what made the city appealing to most people. A California city with everything one (young or old) could want with the benefit of low crime rates, great employment and constant development to the town and its surrounding; it truly lived up to its name although for some the quiet could get boring at times. Sam Levi had arrived to this promise land after being accepted into a rare and exclusive program to get a Master’s Degree in Environmental Architecture and Design, followed by an opportunity to work in one of the branches of one of the biggest enterprises in the country as Wolf Enterprises began needing new headquarters in the west coast.
For over a year, the woman had readjusted to be in California again and calling it home after being away from her home in the Valley. Slowly but surely, Samantha made acquaintances with people she worked, even friendships with her neighbors and people she went to the University with. That night, one of her friend’s had invited her to a party at the Honey Rooftop where someone had organized a big welcome back party for a couple of local legends, two Olympic athletes who had been born in raised in Utopia. Hesitating on going because of how tired she had felt that day after work and school, the woman finally decided to show up at her friends’ insistence saying that it would be something kind of quiet and it would last only a couple of hours. Past midnight and the party was still going, the drinks kept coming and Sam despite knowing she was tipsy, the woman was still sober enough to keep herself or her friends from doing something really stupid. Ever since the terrible night where her friend overdosed, Samantha spent a quite a while staying away from anything that could remind her of what happened that tragic night. When she went away for college the young red head was even careful around alcohol as well, often taking the role of the caretaker in her group of friends, and getting truly out of her limit were really rare nights for her… at least this night didn’t look like going that way but then one of her friends came up behind her holding a shot with a bright blue liquid in it. “Oh, no, no, no.” She started saying trying to avoid it but ultimately, Samantha ended up tossing the shot back before she felt her friend putting a napkin over her lips and then one hand over it while the other one was placed on the back of her hand before she started shaking her head.
“Well, shit.” She said with a laugh closing her eyes for a second before opening them up to feel a tingling feeling on her face, “That was awful.” She said with a chuckle, shaking her head again before she stood up, “I need water.” She said to her friend before moving from their table and through the crowd, trying to push past the sea of people that flooded the bar while trying to get to the bar until finally she made it through just in time to find an empty spot. “Hey, can I get water please?” She asked as she smiled, “Also, what do you put in this like really bright electric blue shot?” She asked before Leo Blackwood began to mention a list of different types of strong licor.
“It’s called death bomb.” He said with a small grin before walking away.
“Well… I guess I’m fucked then.”

Emilia, or Kicks as her close friends called her, strutted down the main halls of Hotel Stardust, feeling confident in this new adventure of hers, even if it meant having to put her past somewhat behind and start anew, she knew it couldn’t bring too many bad things like London did. Her eyes scanned the lobby, trying to look for someone to help her get settled. She knew exactly how to do it on her own, of course, but she figured it would be better with someone to talk to. Emilia spun on her heel to walk back to where she came from when she hit, or rather heatbutted a toned body, making her take a stumbling step back, “Jesus Christ! Sorry for that, it was my bad, completely...” she smiled sheepishly at the new person, mirroring their warm gaze, “Are you okay? I’m clumsy like this sometimes, first day introductions and all... You know? I’m sure there are better ways to make an entrance,” she added with a laugh, suddenly realizing she had been holding onto the arm of this new acquaintance for a few seconds now, so she quickly let go and cleared her throat.

He had been surprised when the Resort offered a strip club and he had to admit it was such a curious addition that he couldn’t resist checking it out. The brochure purported it to be an elegant but somehow he couldn’t picture an elegant strip club. He had been to a few before but those cheap and small town adventures were nothing like this place. Tait had to admit it lived up to the hype.He settled into his seat and ordered a drink from a scantily clad server, curious as to what the night would bring and whether he would be back.

Encounters || Open Starter
Retirement at thirty years old was such a weird concept still to Eva Miller who had recently competed in the Olympics for the last time in her career. Even though she had known all along that athletes of her rank always retired from the sport and an earlier age that most people with regular jobs, only because training took such a tool on the body no matter how careful you were, she couldn’t wrap her brain around the idea that she was finally done and now she had to figure out what she wanted to do or be the next thirty years of her life. After the games in Beijing, Eva and her partner Jason Moir returned to Colorado, there were celebrations, a lot of press and interviews and just as the woman had a chance to sit down and catch a breath, her father confessed he had been diagnosed with Cancer a while ago and the first portion of what her next steps needed to be revealed itself as she came to the decision to move back to Utopia to help take care of her father while he underwent aggressive treatment.
She had been in Utopia for two weeks and she hadn’t had a chance to get out of the house and rediscover the town, although the woman was purposely keeping herself out of radar because she wanted to have the privacy to readjust rather than be flooded with questions and invitations. Yet, she couldn’t avoid the outside much longer due to her constant need of staying active and it became even harder the moment Jason arrived to town to visit his own family a couple days prior.
“You’re newly retiring and somehow you’re still working, Evie.” Her father said as he sat down in the hospital while hooked up to an IV drip that administrated the treatment into his bloodstream. After a lot of convincing from both her father and Jason the woman finally decided to go out that night as some of the people she and Jason knew from high school made plans to get together at a bar called The Honey Rooftop. About an hour later, Eva found herself at the bar laughing about some story one of her former classmates said about her children. It was a little crazy to think that many of them were already married or at least we engaged or had at least one kid simply because those thoughts were stuff that had been so far from crossing the Olympian’s mind as her whole focus all this time had been in mostly on what competition came next and how they could surprise people next.
“So, you two never actually dated? Come on guys, you two look like a married couple on the ice and on TV all the time. I could bet you guys have a crush on each other and aren’t willing to admit.” One of them said causing Eva and Jason to look at each other and shake their heads. It was a question they couldn’t avoid even when they had publicly said in interviews that the two were nothing but really good friends. Of course, nobody would ever know that they attempted to date for a couple of weeks when she was sixteen but quickly both realized how weird it was and came to the realization they were nothing more than good friend who could portrait such chemistry in their performances but nothing more.
“Guys, no, we’ve known each other for over twenty years, we are grown adults in their thirties. Don’t you think we’d have come forward by now if we were in fact dating?” Jason said and Eva chuckled and shook her head again.
“I’m getting a drink, be right back.” She said before walking away from her table and headed towards the bar, but just as she pushed through the crowd but just as she was about to reach the bar, she bumped into someone causing her and the person she bumped into to drop their things on the floor. “Shit, I’m sorry.” Eva said as she began to pick up her phone and the other person’s belongings.

Her initial plan was to get into her pastel mint coloured bikini and enjoy a lazy afternoon by the pool, though Bella opted against it just this once. The bikini was still put on, though she put a plaid cropped shirt over and shorts as bottoms, a towel still with her just in case she’d go for a swim. Maybe, for some, it was too early, but the moment she arrived, Bella moved to the outdoor bar, ordering herself a margarita before settling down on the edge of the pool, simply splashing her feet in the water while sipping on her drink. At least not many people were around.

Mondays where there to be always be proclaimed the worst day of the week, and while as a businessman he’d usually disagree, Walter, that Monday at least, went against all and every principle he had for entrepreneurship and decided, for once, to be lazy, and there was no better place to be lazy at than the beach. Despite it being early in the morning, the sun was already hot, but it wasn’t as if he cared much. Dressed in swimming shorts, sunscreen and a towel in hand, sunglasses neatly placed on the ridge of his nose, Walt made his way to the beach, renting out one of the deck chairs beneath the palm parasols. Settling down, he sighed contently and packed his hands behind to support his head. “Today will be a good day.”

Getting up at sunrise and going for a run was his thing. Sebastian did it back in the day at home, during his modeling years and during his ‘acting’ career. While running through the sand was quite a change as opposed to to the concrete of the city, there was something very tranquil and calming when seeing the beach bathed in the warm and orange glow of the early morning sun.
It wasn’t until later in the morning, when the first people began arriving to the beach, that Sebastian finally came to a half, slightly out of breath but feeling good. He always did after a good run, and running by the ocean was something special after all. Opting to cool off after his run, Sbe took off his t-shirt as well as his running shoes off before heading towards the water for a swim.

Anthony had gone out for a run on the beach, always trying to keep up with his exercise. With all the drinking he did in the bar, he had to get up off his ass and run off those extra calories. As he paused in the sand to shuffle through his music, he continued to jog in place upon noticing someone approaching him. “What’s up?” He flashed them a grin, taking out one of his earbuds. “How’s it going?”

Emilia tiptoed down the hallway, wanting to go back to her room without making much fuss about it. But she was tipsy and she had just stolen a champagne bottle from... what was that bar called, again? Kicks knew it was a bad idea to look as secretive as she was, no one would’ve asked where she got the champagne bottle from if she wasn’t giggling and hiding it with her own body. She pushed the door open only to reveal that it wasn’t her own room she had gotten into. Oops!

Jolly Roger Beach Bar || Open

His first weekend at the Resort. So far it had been a quiet few days as he settled into his bungalow. Ordinarily he rushed through a vacation, worried he was missing out on something that he wanted to see or do. But barring some event pulling him away, he planned to be here for the next few months. He had time to enjoy every treat and sight the Resort had to offer. So he spent time making sure his wifi connection worked (which it did) and that he could communicate with his editor at the publishing house (which he could) and that the opulent residence met his needs. It was actually slightly more spacious than his condo so it worked out well.
To celebrate the weekend ahead he decided to start with the beach bar. It seemed a little silly by its moniker but drinks and a swim sounded about right. He stretched out in his lounge chair and opened his book. He was a chapter in when he heard a soft cough. Glancing up, he nodded at the server, “Oh yes. I’ll take another please.” As he was about to glance down to his book again, he caught the eye of another and nodded in greeting. He could aim for friendly, even if such things didn’t come naturally to him. “Nice day.” He acknowledged.
