What is it with foxlike canids being really good at becoming an invasive species?
#Between the red fox in Australia and the common raccoon dog in Europe I’d say they’re pros at it#Usually it’s the smaller creatures like bugs and rabbits that do better in non-native climates#But huh I guess those furry fuckers are just really good at being in places they don’t belong#Also fur farms dumping their unwanted kits surely doesn’t help.#It got so bad in Europe that the US has banned imports on all species of raccoon dog because of what happened there#Which is why most Americans don’t even know a tanuki (japanese raccoon dog) is a real animal outside of anime#I mean the Japanese also have to deal with our real raccoons because so many people bought them from the exotic pet trade#So I guess it’s equivalent exchange#Still it’s a bit weird I guess#canid#canidae#invasive species#vulpini#foxes#fox#red fox#tanuki#raccoon dog#japanese raccoon dog#animals#conservation#environmental science#environment#ecology#Raccoon
