Aesthetics for the entities, part ii.
Bold what applies to your muse, italics what applies situationally or only in certain verses. rest of the fears here. this is based on a horror podcast; potentially triggering and / or upsetting content ahead!
This one’s for Vynathr, I might do a second one for WC-003-A, C-001, and Spades if properly motivated... oh god, Vynathr really is just a feral, faceless mess of horror huh *wheeze*
viii. THE HUNT. sharp canines. sore calves after a run. the scent of blood. an adventure for the journey’s sake. the adrenaline right before the kill. a whistle’s echo. the woods. the doe eyes of a prey animal. your own breath in the air. sharpened claws. being tracked. fear of someone knowing your every movement. hunting down monsters. hide and seek. running away only to end up where you started. staying alive purely because the enemy enjoys seeing you run. a set of footsteps behind you. blood dripping from bare hands. barks and growls. focused eyes. a victim going limp under your hands. a mouth full of fresh blood. catching the scent of something monstrous. perfecting your craft. peering into the dark and running after it.
ix. THE LONELY. an apartment too small for a double bed. completely vacant streets. waking up to see everyone gone. fog. point nemo. a house too big to hear your family members in. alone in a faceless crowd. a mask with nothing behind it. separated cubicles. a deafening silence where joy should be. a blinding spotlight. the least missed in your friend group. streets without lights in the windows. isolation. not truly knowing your friends. your friends not truly knowing you. need for silence. fear of crowds. staring into space knowing nothing is looking back at you. a ship alone at sea. depression. knowing your friends are better off without you. talking to someone only to realize they’re gone. a family too large to notice you there. safety in being alone.
x. THE SLAUGHTER. a game of tag. senseless violence. a true crime hobby. improvised weapons. blinding rage. intent to kill. a horrific day in a quiet community. a medal of bravery. holding on to what validates your anger. history books that spare no details. an injury you want revenge for. war. counting kills. songs of soldiers. a knife-block on the counter. a pool of blood. shellshock. unspeakable horrors. anger pushing you forward. unimaginable pain. not seeing who will hurt you but knowing the pain is coming. a fully human monster. an authority sending its lessers to their deaths. kill or be killed. unedited wartime memoirs. a weapons collection. not knowing the names of who you kill. too many to remember. loss of hope. there’s no heroes in war.
xi. THE SPIRAL.sleep deprivation. corridors you can get lost in. maze puzzles that loop back on themselves. losing possessions. losing people. losing your sanity. corkscrew curls. rows of funhouse mirrors. optical illusions. a separate reality. walking through the wrong door. delusions. not knowing what your hands are doing. blank spaces in documents. hallucinations. wrong proportions. a nameless thing. a place that has never existed. doubting your own mind. blind faith. losing track of names, labels, categories. distorted sound. an imperfection in a glass that twists the view. loss of time. a garish color. doors that open to nowhere. lies. an unnatural laugh. jokes and tricks. illusions. a doorway. a sculptor with a wild imagination. limbs in impossible angles. doing what’s fun, not what’s sensible. fractals you can get lost in.
xii. THE STRANGER. wax figures. a close approximation of a human face. a borrowed appearance. a strange smell. glass eyes. furs and pelts. a dance. a song of a choir. the uncanny valley. stitching yourself together. the colors of a circus. a puppet with no strings. mannequins. glitter and sequin. a stranger you’ve always known. someone strange in the place of someone you knew. stolen identities. stolen skins. a machine imitating humanity. the anonymity of a service worker. hiding in plain sight. uncomfortable to look at. a faked accent. concealing. forgetting who you are. forgetting who others are. a replacement no one notices. images that look posed. the only one seeing the false face of someone.
xiii. THE VAST.open spaces. carnival rides going up and down. fear of heights. endless infinity around you. your insignificance in an universe. stomach turning at a drop. fear of not the crash down but the moment you slip. the sway of a cable car. an adventure holiday. losing track of where the surface is. miles and miles of nothing around you. staring at the sky and feeling like you may fall into it. loss of control. a fall that doesn’t end in death. glass floor to the view below. terminal velocity. the sound of wind in your ears. a reach over the railing. a jump from the top of the building. falling into nothing. feeling your feet let go of the ground. a leap of faith. motion sickness.
xiv. THE WEB. undecipherable code. a puppeteer holding the strings. power over the weak-willed. strings of fate. manipulation. an arranged accident. a hundred minions doing your bidding. cobwebs. spiders. a laid trap. never voicing discomfort. outwitting a cheater. doing things without realizing it. red string across a cork board. finding something lost where you were sure you checked. power over the unreliability of chance. watching others dance for you. an entangled death. a thousand tiny legs and fangs. shady forum threads. something important gone missing. suspiciously disregarded case. a missing witness. connections. the world wide web. power of victimhood. gullibility. no control over your own decisions. an invisible leash. mass psychology. a horror film in the making. scapegoat. never remembering to ask for a name.
+ THE EXTINCTION. the end of an era. apocalypse movies. the alarms of warning systems. a desolate landscape. end of the world cults. nihilism. the last written history. a changed world. no survivors. old prophecies. a thousand predicted ends. a new chapter. an end with no escape. catastrophes. a calendar counting down. breaking point. overindulgence.

Review 003: Pot of Greed
What, you didn’t think this was going to be all Digimon, right? There’s a bunch of things I know nothing about! And a big one of those is Yu-Gi-Oh. Card games have never really been my thing, simply because collecting enough to be able to play a game is hard and I was bad at remembering rules as a kid. So let’s see what the weird world of serious card games has to offer.
Now there’s a card I can understand! Pot of Greed is one of the more famous cards from the series, and for good reason: It was one of the earliest ones, judging by that 1st edition on the bottom of the card, and easy to figure out the rules for. However, the most distinctive thing about it is its design. Look at that face. That little shit is so smug about you drawing two cards. Its eerily human face drives it straight into the uncanny valley, but its odd, swollen eyeballs and overly-large, bared teeth give it this mocking, sinister vibe. It looks straight out of Majora’s Mask, I love it.
While yugioh doesn’t have “evolutions” in the strict sense, it does have cards that relate to each other. As far as I can tell, Pot of Greed has quite a few.
The first is Spirit of Pot of Greed, which expounds on the original card’s design. The pot now has tiny red pupils, gazing directly up at you. It looks like it knows you did something terrible. And the little spirit popping out of the pot? Horrifying! It takes everything I gushed about the pot and does it more, with its hideously wide smile stuck in a wrinkled face. The ears and horns projecting out of the fire give it a devilish tone, but I would kind of prefer it if it was just a ball of fire? The pointed ears and fiery hair just make it look like Jack Frost from the Santa Clause, and oh god now I can’t unsee it.
The Pot of Avarice is a sort of sibling to the Pot of Greed, and it has a similar look suited for one of those 90s gross-out series, like Garbage Pail Kids or Madballs. However, it doesn’t carry the universal appeal of Pot of Greed- whereas ol’ Greedy looks sinister, Pot of Avarice is downright buffoonish, making it a lot less spooky. The design is also pretty busy, with all the markings as well as the gem teeth, Plus, the design of the face seems kind of....unfortunate, to me? Like it could be an offensive stereotype, though I dunno if it’s anything in particular. Plus, the Hitler ‘stash. I much prefer its counterpart, the Jar of Avarice, which addresses a few of my complaints and overall looks a little nicer.
Jar of Greed goes a little more back to basics, with a more smug design than Avarice. While I still prefer Pot of Greed, I enjoy the detailing on this one; the golden moulding around the face looks nice, and makes it look like its sneering at you. The gem eyes are a nice touch.
There are many Pots similar to the Pot of Greed in the series, judging by the dozen or so ones that popped (or should I say potted up) while getting images for this review. They’re all interesting in their own right, but this review is specifically for Pot of Greed-related monsters, which brings us to our final card in this review:

003. Message in a Haunted Mansion | Saloon pt. 1
Before leaving the dining room, I did let Rose know that I completed that floor puzzle that she and Abby found so impossible. She thanked Nancy, and immediately asked her to scrape some water damaged tiles from the ceiling upstairs. Gross. Rose also said she didn’t where it was, but Nancy would probably need a scraper. Don’t worry, Rose, Nancy knows where a scraper is. It’s in her pocket.
Ok, with that out of the way - let us explore the rest of the downstairs area, shall we?
When we exit the dining room, there’s a door on the right leading from the hallway into what appears to be the saloon.
Seeing as that guy is doing handyman stuff, we should probably assume that’s Charlie. Let’s do our special Nancy thing and look all around the room before talking to him!
We check out the piano.
Nancy exclaims, “It’s stuck!” about the panel above the piano keys. We may have to play a song to get it to unlock.
When we open up the piano bench, we find some music, including Swannee River. That symbol looks like it’s going to come in handy, no?
At the bar of the saloon, we find a book.
Famous Non-Alcoholic Drinks and how to mix them
For the two recipes provided, go here!
Next to the bar is a newspaper that explains to us what a Bed & Breakfast is like we are eight year olds playing this in 2001. It also mentions that there are quite a few B&B’s cropping up in the city, making the competition fierce and profits slimmer. Hmm.
We also find a very old article just lying around.
Nancy hones in on an article entitled, “Scandal! Horror! Outrage!” which is written by the California Theatre paper’s editor. He has his underwear up his ass because a group called The Ladies Protection Society has decided to put on plays to raise more funds for widows and orphans. Women? In theater? Gadzooks!
Fuck that guy.
Anyway, let’s talk to Charlie.
He’s pretty cute for an uncanny valley 3D mannequin man from the early 2000s.
According to Charlie, even though everyone is blaming him for the accidents around the mansion, he swears it isn’t his fault. He seems very young and maybe a little inexperienced, but right now I have no reason to believe he caused rafters to fall or a gas leak.
There appears to be more to look at behind Charlie, but we’ll have to wait to see that until he’s out of the way - which should be after 5pm.
Next up, more downstairs!

SITH UTR 674.fm Podcast 041 by REBECCA GOLDBERG / 313 ACID QUEEN
[ DETROIT UNDERGROUND Cryovac Recordings USA | Detroit Threads, Detroit USA ]
Brief bio of an artist: Back when radio ruled the Motor City and the boombox gave us mixtapes, live broadcasts were the very essence of the Detroit club-music scene. Technology was turning cassettes into CDs and Rebecca Goldberg’s frequent trips to Harmony House fueled her music collection. She poured over the cherished tunes spun on Saturday nights at the State Theatre’s legendary “Club X”. Inspired by Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale, the D's Godmother of House Music, who was reigning over the airwaves, it was only a matter of time before Rebecca would satiate her musical appetite as a disc jockey. Goldberg is now a seasoned radio DJ, having mixed on Detroit public radio station WDET 101.9's Sunday Sessions show, 89.3 WHFR out of Dearborn, as well as many internet radio stations hosted worldwide. She holds down a few residencies for Detroit area dance nights including her monthly SOUND SPACE night featuring underground artists from across the US. She has performed in world renowned venues like Tresor (Berlin) and Silencio (Paris). And she has several self-released music and mutimedia projects as well as multiple vinyl releases on Detroit Underground and has recently released her third vinyl EP on Andy Garcia’s imprint Cryovac Recordings. Rebecca is currently based in Detroit and gigging worldwide. For more like Rebecca Goldberg’s alltime top20 fave-list keep reading more here
