Ultramarine Magmell is also pretty good at designs. I will say though, that it's messages about not abusing nature kinda get confusing because the landmass that everyone goes to actively tempts people and such...

Was checking out the anime Hell's Paradise and really like the double faced flower monsters the antagonists can turn into. Not nearly the weirdest creature designs I've seen but definitely up there in their surreal feeling; the two torsos sharing one little head is something I don't think I've seen all that often before, not like this anyway? This leads me to ask what you think is the oddest or most inventive creature design you've seen in a recent anime; I have to say "recent" or everyone's just gonna say Evangelion.

Look, I'll admit it, I haven't seen Ultramarine Magmell. I've just read the premise and watched the trailer, but I can already tell you what it really is:

One thing I gotta say it that there's a point where if enough bad things happen in your show, your audience will probably stop being able to give a fuck.

This is probably one of the biggest issues with Ultramarine Magmell.

The plot is as follows: Bad thing happens on the new continent Magmell. Another bad thing happens on Magmell. Bad thing happens on Magmell. Bad things happen on Magmell. Weird filler episode about a shop owner. Look into the past of the MC. Bad thing happens on Magmell again. Six more mad things happen on Magmell.

And that's IT! That's the entire fucking show! The plot is literally just atrocious shit happening on a weird new continent over and over and over again!

I'll admit the first two episodes were interesting but by the third it's like "oh, so that's it?" Because it's the same shot over and over again. Dude murders his family. People slaughter animals for a metal in their blood. People turned into bugs. Another murderer.

There's a fundamental concept that this show is blatantly unaware of and that's that your audience needs a reason to care. The way they hand it, there's no hope, no catharsis, just bloodshed. It's boring! If you don't have a way to get your audience invested in the characters the bad things will happen to, they won't care when they happen!

This is one of those shows I had on in the background and just played on my phone, and then eventually turned it off because Doodle Jump was more interesting.
