The Rise of Ultraman (2020) / Ultraman Rising (2024)

As much as I love seeing the iconic Ultraman 1966 returning and gaining popularity in the west, I think it's a wasted opportunity not to remake Ultraman Powered which was meant for western audience.

Ultraman : The Ultimate Hero (1995) to me is underrated and has the potential to be better. It wasn't popular at the time as it was overshadowed by the popular Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

It deserves a modern remake just as Ultraman 1966 had its remake in Shin Ultraman (2022). Ultraman Powered is iconic in its own way, being the only Ultra that I know of, with coloured eyes.

Ken sato drunk...?

I imagine he's a clingy pouty drunk.

(I wrote this after a whole bottle of red wine)

Kenji Sato, legendary baseball star, Ultimate hero of Japan as The Ultraman, and....currently tearing up while clinging to your waist.

"Keeennnn!!"

You huffed, waddling with the extra weight on you to the bedroom you both shared.

"Baaabbyyyy!!!"

He whined back in the same tone, face rubbing into your warmth as if he wants to merge with you.

He's been babbling on about his team, his work, Emi, his dad, crying for your attention for the last thirty minutes since he got home reeking of beer.

All while you attempted to get him to the bathroom.

You've tried coaxing him, sweet-talking him with honeyed words and promises of cuddles, of breakfast in bed and as many kisses and attention he wants but....to no avail.

"Stoop pushin- me- awaayy- "

The man himself whimpers, nuzzling into your side, teary eyes squinting as his face scrunched and his ridiculously plump lips pouted in a way that tugs at your heart.

"You hate me!"

His brows knits, weight falling completely onto you as he topples you onto the ground.

"Kenji,"

You deadpanned, rolling onto your back, arms folded across your face.

One, two, his wet sniffles.

You glance down in defeat as he crawls up the length of your body, whimpering something under his breath, and buries his face into your neck.

His warm tears wet your neck and you rub his back, sighing.

"We need to get your cleaned up, ken,"

"I missed you baby- hic- so much- so mu-cchhh-"

Your fingers scratched at his scalp, running through his hair.

"Its just so- hic-hard- I missed you- I miss-hic-"

His muffled wails vibrates against your neck, lips sloppily kissing up to your jaw.

You let him whine for abit before tugging gently at his hair.

"I know, Ken baby, I know. But let's get you a warm shower and bed hmm?"

You craned your neck to peck at his hairline.

"I'll give you all the cuddles you way, 'kay?"

He lifts his head groggily, lidded eyes brimming with tears as he swallow hard.

There's a long pause as he tried to deduce your sincerity, before he purses his lips and drags himself off you like a petulant child.

"....mmkay,"

You sat up, offering him a gentle smile as you ruffle his hair.

"Good boy, Kenji,"

Chapter 15

"Chiara! Chiara calm down!" Orb yelled in alarm.

"Let go! Let them go!" Blu grunted trying to pull the fairy in question away from the two ultras she was wrangling.

"I didn't say anything to anybody else except for the new generation guys! It was Zett who told Ace who then told Taro wh-" Grigio yelped when she stumbled down after Chiara finally released her and continued holding on to Zett.

The reason for her sudden rampage was the conversation she heard while walking down the Colosseum halls. Let's just say that the misunderstanding of her and Zero's relationship didn't end with Hikari.

"This is what happens when you spend too much time with Zero!" Geed gulped referring to how Chiara had Zett in a choke hold. But at the mention of the blue and red ultra, Chiara halted. Zett took it as a chance to slip out of her hold and hid (hopefully) safely behind Victory and Ginga. Chiara covered her flushed face with her hands and let out a string of incoherent mumbling.

"I'm ultra sorry Chiara...I only told Brother Ace about it I swear. I didn't think he would tell anybody else and it would escalate this far." Zett apologised while peeking his head out from behind Victory. After a few moments Chiara let her hands down and saw Zett looking genuinely guilty.

"It can't be helped now. I know you didn't mean for this to happen but you two should've gotten the facts right before jumping to conclusions." Chiara said almost scoldingly.

"And even if, even if, it's true, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want my personal life aired to the world. Boundaries exist for a reason ya know." She added.

"You're right Chiara...we're sorry..." Grigio said remorsefully. Grigio and Zett looking sad and guilty then made Chiara feel guilty. She couldn't stay made at them forever.

"It's alright. I'm sorry too...I shouldn't have rampaged on you like that. It's just that the situation is similar to what I experienced in Alfea." Chiara admitted.

"Similar how?" Rosso asked.

"When I was a student in Alfea there was this guy at Red Fountain who was really popular at the time. One day we coincidentally sat beside each other during a concert and someone took a picture of us. It was something so simple yet people thought we were dating and that we were a good match and stuff like that. Some girls in Alfea hated me for it because they were his fangirls. But I hardly even knew the guy. It got to the point where the Headmistress and Headmaster of Alfea and Red Fountain got involved. Thankfully things worked out for me and that guy in the end. We didn't end up dating or anything but he was nice. The entire situation disturbed him too. I don't know if he knows or not but Zero's got his own group of admirers too so the rumour going around about Zero and I kinda freaked me out." By the end of her recount Rosso and Blu glanced at each other and then at Grigio. With a serious look in his eyes Rosso asked her,

"Asahi, is there anybody bullying in school?"

"What? Of course there isn't. I'm the one that drives the bullies away!"

"Good. If there is then they have to answer to us." Blu stated.

"Katsumi! Isami!"

"And be careful with boys too."

"Guys!"

Chiara smiled longingly witnessing their sibling antics. It reminded her of a past she dearly missed.

"Chiara, we're sorry if our teasing made you uncomfortable. We just thought you really did like him." Geed said.

"It's okay. Unlike in Alfea I didn't feel bothered or uncomfortable. It just felt really embarrassing. And..." she trailed off to think.

Chiara received a lot of help support for her trauma. She was determined to not let what those people did to her bother her anymore. Yes she still had nightmares about it but not as bad or as frequently as before. And she had a lot of time to thoroughly think about her feelings.

Then she realised that what she thought was a simple crush was actually something more. It was obvious to everyone but she was scared of falling for someone again after being betrayed by Nightwing. However, Chiara knew Zero was different from Nightwing. Vastly different.

"I like him...I really do like Zero..."

Everyone froze at her admission.Yes there was always some sort of what do you call it...chemistry whenever they saw Zero and Chiara together. It was obvious they both held affections for each other but either didn't realise or were too afraid to admit it.

Which is why they hatched a plan with the UFZ during the Spark festival. A plan that may have worked a little too well... _________________________________________

Zero's fist was inches away from punching the training dummy when the events of the Spark festival flashed in his mind. He stopped and groaned at the memory.

Since their friends were absent, Zero and Chiara hung out together at the Spark festival. The festival well, festive. They did a lot of things together like trying out all different kinds of food from all over the galaxy. That's when Zero found out Chiara was a big 'foodie'. It stills puzzles him how her stomach could hold all the food she ate. She literally tried each food she could get her hands on. Food from all over the galaxy. Her favourite was ice cream. She got extra large big scoops of those.

All in all they had a great time at the festival. Except for the plays. The plays were boring so they skipped them. Eventually Chiara got tired so they stopped somewhere to rest. They had already explored the festival so the only thing left was to wait for the fireworks show to begin.

While they were waiting, Zero recalled to ask her about going home. He could travel through the multiverse so it wasn't a problem. Chiara of course was aware of that fact. She was also aware that there was no guarantee they would end up in her universe on the first try.

They couldn't dimension jump willy nilly since one, they might get into trouble if they end up in the wrong place and two, it can be really draining for him. Chiara didn't want Zero getting hurt because of her. 

"...I want to go home but not at the expense of anybody else. So until I can pinpoint the magic dimension, there won't be any portal opening anytime soon." She said it with so much conviction. The safety of her friends comes first before her own desire to return home.

Then all of a sudden, a stray fireball came hurdling at them. Zero pulled Chiara towards him, the ball of fire narrowly missing her back. But because he yanked her too hard and too fast, Chiara crashed into him making them both stumble down.

Which led to a rather...awkward situation. Zero landed on his back while Chiara fell on top of him. Since the ultra cushioned her fall, Chiara quickly recovered and realised the position they were. When she propped herself up with her arms, her eyes met his. Thankfully due to his ultra biology, he didn't blush as he felt his heart racing. But the same can't be said for her.

Chiara's fair complexion started turning redder and redder. Seconds that felt like hours passed before they both scrambled to get up. Unfortunately a lock of her hair got snagged in the claps of his mantle.

"Uhh...uhh...sorry..." Chiara tried hard pulling the lock of her hair that got stuck, forgetting that Zero can just take off his mantle. With one last strong tug, her hair didn't get free but instead, Zero was yanked forward. Time seemed to slow down as the night sky came alive with an array of fireworks going off

This time they didn't crash into each other. But something else did...their lips

After their accidental kiss Chiara cut the part of her hair that got stuck and immediately flew away looking flustered. He thought abour seeing her but would hesitate and didn't know what to say. The entire thing just felt so complicated. Zero cursed whichever ultra decided to literally play with fire that night.

"Is there something bothering you?" Mirror Knight suddenly asked. He didn't realise that his entire team had entered the training room.

"Could it be that Zero boy here had a couple's fight with Chiara?" Glen Fire teased.

"I told you she's not my girlfriend!"

"But whatever problem you're going through has something to do with her right?" Said Jean Nine. Before Zero could ask or deny Jean Bot chimed in,

"It's obvious things have been quite awkward between you two."

He can't say he's wrong on that one. Zero and Chiara didn't avoid seeing each other when needed but the tension between them was clear.

The four of them exchanged glances as he was having an internal crisis.

The four UFZ members had agreed to meet up with their leader for the Spark festival but didn't come due to being held up at Mighty Base. Atleast, that's what they told the ultra. In reality, they along with the new generation decided to play matchmaker.

The plan was simple. Have Chiara and Zero 'coincidentally' run into each other while waiting for them. Then give them believable excuses as to why they had to bail at the last second. So, Chiara and Zero would end up going to the festival together and have a great time. And that's exactly what happened.

From afar, the UFZ and new generation witnessed the two enjoy the festival in each other's company. They looked bappy together and genuinely seemed like a couple in love. Immediately start dating during the festival wasn't expected but it was a step in the right direction.

Everything was going so smoothly. Until a stray fireball became the catalyst to the accidental kiss they shared.

Right now they could only hope that atleast one of them would man up and talk to the other before it's too late.

Here's a Halloween piece I've done which was meant for a Monster Art Show by Toku Professor on Youtube. However, due to time constraints and job schedules, I had to send it back till now and thus, it never did end up on the video.

Nevertheless, here's my Varan vs Powered Chandlar. Hope you enjoy but I'll be rebranding some time in the future due to my situation.
