#Ultraman Grigio

My edit of Ultraman barriers (or shields) from Showa to Reiwa era. They're all defensive barriers (rather than containment barriers).

I like the barrier cos it's a classic technique. These barriers resist, reflect, absorb, or charge against incoming enemy attacks or, rarely, against "friendly fires" (from the defense teams).

Basic as they are in principle, it's interesting how these Ultras form their barriers. (My favorite so far is Arc's - and as the series goes on currently, I await what else he can do with his barrier as his imagination enables it).

I feature at least one form of barrier per Ultra - there are so many of them that I can't include them all, especially from the Heisei era onwards (Ultraman Cosmos has, like, 6 forms of barriers).

Not all Ultras have this barrier technique but if I missed something, let me know!

[R/n and her male friend are nearly crushed by a monster, on instinct the guy tried to shield her, when Rosso punched the kaiju away Blu turned to looked down to make sure R/n was okay but stop short when he saw the compromising position she and M/n were in, as monster fled Rosso tried to get his brother's attention.]

Rosso: Blu, it's getting away!

Blu, still looking R/n and M/n:...

Rosso: ...Blu?

[Blu eyes darkened and he let out this low guttural growl causing everyone to look at the blue ultra startled M/n cautiously held R/n close which seem to agitate the giant more.]

Rosso, slaps his brother upside the head: Isami!

Blu, snaps out of it: OW!...*looks around confused at the tense atmosphere* Wha-what's happening?

Rosso: You tell me, man!

Blu: Huh?

[Rosso looks around notices the kaiju had already fled, cut to later; Katsumi telling his brother about his weird behavior.]

Katsumi: Honestly, it looked like you wanted to kill something back there and it wasn't the Kaiju.

Isami, dumbfounded: I growled???

Asahi: Y'know I read somewhere that when a male animal thinks a rival male is trying to make moves on their mate they become very aggressive toward that rival.

Katsumi: Yeah, but we're not animals sis.

Asahi: But we're not really human when in our ultra forms.

{Katsumi had nothing to say to that. Meanwhile Isami's brain was working maximum overdrive trying to process what this all meant? Before the light-bulb flickered on; Isami's face went bright red as he realized he didn't think of R/n as just a friend.]

Isami, flustered: I nee..I need to see R/n! *leaves*

Katsumi:

Asahi: Told you he likes her. *hold her hand out* Pay up.

{Katsumi grumbles and gets his wallet out, Long story short Isami tracked R/n down and ended up confessing to R/n and also apologizes to her because he knows she has a boyfriend would understand if she never talk to him again.

The opposite happened R/n instead hugged him much to Isami's confusion and she told him she liked him for a while too, but when he asked about M/n? R/n looked at him oddly.}

R/n: Isami....M/n's my little half-brother he went went to live in another country with my Step-parent after the divorce, remember?

[Isami suddenly has a flashback to their childhood and remembers seeing a little boy who bore a small resemblance to R/n visiting her during summer vacation.]

Isami, flustered:....Oh, he grew up.

in 2021 I participated in the making of ‘shuwatch!! the ultraman fan zine’ for volume 2! I was able to draw a piece for one of my favorite series and a postcard set :D

it was awesome seeing so many works all going towards a good cause! I had a blast with these pieces and was an amazing learning experience to experiment with new mediums and techniques!!

Headcanon that Minus really was their Teacher back in the day. Then gets sent to the earth the siblings landed and help train Isami n Katsumi. Talks down on Mitsurugi and convinces her to let the Brothers help.

( Yeah, my thoughts on R/B are a mix bag. I like the first half of the series but kinda sucked in the later half)

[R/n rolls her eyes and leads Belial to the basement that's been soundproofed for when Riku and his friends were practicing.]

[R/n gestures for Belial to be quiet and opens the door. where they're greeted by Riku and Taiga singing with Akari and Asahi backing them up}

Puffy. Jacket.

Bulletproof. Jacket.

Track. Jacket.

Woolen. Jacket.

Dungaree. Jacket.

Denim. Jacket.

They're all the same jacket!

Taiga: These are the coats we wear Of devil's plaid and witch's hair Jackets are everywhere!.

Riku: With a hood, or a belt, or a sleeveless one Doesn't count, that's a vest called a jerkin!

[R/n closes the door while Belial stares baffled at he just witnessed.]

R/n: They're actually pretty good, I hear Asahi's brothers are directing a music video for them.

Belial, dully: fascinating.

R/n: I'll say, we got a cameo in it!
