NEW GEN GUTS-SELECT MECHA IDEAS
I’m making an AU thing/toyline for Trigger/Decker cause i felt that GUTS-Select could've been MUCH better imo Here’s what I’ve written down so far for this AU/toy project
ULTRAMAN TRIGGER: new gen Tiga
GUTS-Raptor Black and Gold jet based off of Guts Wing 2 and GUTS DIG! Can turn into a walker mecha that’s a cross between Guntank and Getter 3, can combine with the Guts Falcon to become the Guts Thunderbird, is mainly used for underground travel and is equipped with Dual Drills and a giant laser cannon (images provided below)
LigaDessei Based off of Ligatron from Tiga, can transform into a giant battleship like Nursedessei and can split into 3 different ships for easier travel and to combine with the Nursedessei into a larger warship, either Guts Raptor or Guts Hawk can be stored in battleship mode or all 3 guts ship can be stored under the giant warship combo
ULTRAMAN DECKER: New Gen Dyna
GUTS-Eagle A blue jet based off of the guts Eagle beta, is able to combine with both Guts falcon and Guts Hawk to become the GUTS Phoenix mega jet, the subterranean Robo GS-Lovemos, and the super robot MG5-III, is equipped with a sword and spacium cannon taken from the destroyed TerraPhaser, can combine with Guts Raptor and Guts Condor for a super form
GUTS-Condor A orange blue and silver jet based off of the Conolly 7 and GUTS MARINE, has giant crusher claws and turbines for Aerial flight, has A form similar to GUTS hawk’s “Dragon” mode. can combine with the Guts Raptor to become GUTS Rok! A excavating robot for underwater or space missions (looks like the Kajuseijin from Betterman, both Raptor and Condor can become a new super form for MG5-III or all guts jets can become a giant bird/dragon hybrid jet known as the GUTS GARUDA
TERRAPHASER NEOS a new terraphaser that's somewhat more akin to the original Deathfacer and the Prometheus ship from Dyna, T-NEOS is piloted by Hane2 and can transform from either robot mode to battleship mode, can combine with Nursedessei and LigaDessei into either a Gigantic battleship akin to the Arial Base from Gaia that can store all GUTS-Select ships or (tentatively) a humanoid robot
that's it for now with this account but i have MAYBE a bit more ideas
#ultraman trigger#ultraman decker#Ultraman GUTS-Select#guts select#Ultraman Mecha#Mountain Gulliver 5#Terraphaser#GUTS Falcon#GUTS Hawk#NurseDessei#New Gen Ultraman#that last bit about the giant mecha combo was just something to add in when i ever do design it

I'm finally catching up on Ultraman Decker.
So far my favorite thing about the show is how the GUTS Select kids are all a different blend of dumbass.

What's your stance on the whole secret identity thing for all the previous series so far, especially in the context of the host/human form being in an official government military group ? How would you recommend it to be executed?
Oh this question is so nostalgic, I rmb people always asking me this during the early years of my blog (bruh it's been 7 years holy)
But I maintain my stance that its been a staple frustration every series because imo, it wouldve been far more logical if the hosts were to make their Ultra identity known within their organisation. Not counting those that are purposely undercover for various reasons, but especially those that were totally inexperienced in whatever they were doing.
Let's talk about more recent examples with Trigger and Decker. With Trigger being the worst case example ive ever seen. I believe I've ranted aplenty that it literally dosent make sense for Kengo to hide his Ultra alter-ego when literally the Chairman and scientist himself alr knew about his identity. So wouldn't it be beneficial for everyone else within GUTS-Select to know about it as well so they could better coordinate and support Kengo? And since this knowledge was also accessible to high ranking members, wouldnt Kengo also receive the proper security and guidance as well?
Decker would be the average example of this, with few to none knowing, thus having less of a reason to reveal his identity, but still the same reason why he should reveal, so that he can receive the proper security and guidance, as well as better coordination and support from GUTS-Select
But tbh, this obviously blatant aspect of most series is implemented on purpose. Because of the same reasons why they should've revealed their identity earlier.
Literally because it'll make things ALOT more easier. Think of the different times that a host's henshin item gets stolen, with the extra protection and enhanced security, literally most of these staple plotpoints wouldn't even be possible. And the lack of communication between the host/Ultra and defense team is basically a detriment to joint operations as it basically falls back to how the defense team can interpret what the Ultra is planning to do on the fly.
That's actually why you see that the reveals usually happen during the final arc, because the proper coordination and planning would literally make things far more easier.
But it'll also make episodes far shorter and more boring
And it's more suited to delve into ideas such as the mistrust of the Ultras from the humans/government, politics as well as intricate alien invasions that involve downplaying, misrepresenting or create discord between the Ultra and humans, which we do occasionally see with main series content like Mephilas etc
But since the main series' intended audiences are for children, such ideas are probably way too complex for them to appreciate, so this is literally just there to make things easier to understand for them
Tho, a good example would be what we literally saw with Shin Ultraman with Shin Zarab and Shin Mephilas
For Shin Zarab, he literally sowed discord between humanity and Lipia via Fake Ultraman of course. But also simultaneously, he demonstrated very clear understanding of politics and manipulation of Japan's position in the international stage and we saw the ramifications and political impact with the deal he made with the PM.
For Mephilas, it was a bigger scheme with a deal with the entire humanity itself, essentially intending to have the entirety of humanity as a potential army
And we see how Lipia manoeuvred around all this by selectively revealing his identity to small groups of people as they were necessary to get him out of a pinch. Now this is realistic cause unlike in the main series where defense teams are equipped with Specium ray guns, metallic dragons powered by Absolutian energy or literally kaiju bioweapons, it takes into account the technological level of the real world and on another hand, its Lipia's own decision to go undercover to learn what it means to be human, which is also what we see him trying to slowly figure out throughout the movie
Gosh it was such an AMAZING movie just because of how dense it was with international politics, psychology, Lipia learning how to be human, clash of ideologies between Zoffy and Lipia as well as humanity grasping their own fate and having both the confidence in themselves and Ultraman to overcome adversity
But it's also the same reason why people that didn't like ShinU or found it boring based on people that I talked to, cause they simply weren't used to just how sophisticated and thought-provoking the movie is, as well as Anno's characteristic cinematography skills as they were expecting more of the main content standard, which were literally targeted towards kids
Honestly, so long as the target audience of the main content series aren't targeted towards young adults or above, I literally don't see this changing at all. Which is why even tho it's a really frustrating aspect of the main content, I'm kinda used to it at this point
Thanks for the question!

You know, funny thing about all this is that Decker was never meant to be a new generation Dyna either. It's only like that beacuse the staff wanted to keep the defense force gimmick and Tsupro can't provide the budget to do so the only budget-safe way was to use the one from Trigger therefore new Guts-Select.
that doesn't sound right but i don't know enough about ultraman decker to dispute it

Ultraman Decker Toy Roundup
Well, Decker just ended at the time of me writing this. Time to talk about the two toys I got while it was airing, and give my overall thoughts on the show.
I will say, I mostly bought Carmeara because I was kinda sad she and Darrgon died at the end of Trigger. I felt like there was a lot of potential for her and Trigger to both return to the Eternity Core, in the few years they’re stuck there that spark reignites, and at the end of Episode Z we get the reveal of Ultrwoman Carmeara. And in the meantime Darrgon acts as GUTS Selects’ new powerhouse to replace Trigger while he’s diffusing. Considering Grigio is one of the more popular characters Ultraman has introduced, introducing a second Ultrawoman with a very different personality (because I’m not sure Dinas will be different enough from Grigio) has a lot of potential.
I am glad she was brought back during Decker, and that Darrgon might come back, too, and that she’s reconciled with Trigger somewhat. It’s just there were way more interesting things you could have done with the character.
S.H.Figuarts Carmeara: As for her figure, it’s pretty good. I’d say she’s slightly better than Trigger, with slightly better balance and ease of posability. Her hanging adornments have enough weight to them that they don’t look weird or lighter than they should be, but I do wish there was a bit more weight at the ends. She comes with her whip effect, which has a posable wire inside, and Trigger’s Zeperion Beam, so she is meant to be a companion to him. If only the show thought so as well...
DX GUTS Hawk: I love this thing. This improves my opinions on the GUTS Falcon significantly. While it doesn’t have a robot mode, it has very posable arms, and the transformation is so satisfying. It’s just fun to transform, and there are plenty of fan-mode things you can do with it as well. If you can find them both at a good price, I’d highly recommend as a desk toy.
Ultraman Decker (Series): I like Decker more than Trigger, but not as much as Z. From what I know of Dyna, it does a good job of not retreading things like Trigger did, but it’s weirdly the most serious Ultraman I’ve watched, and I’m not sure I like that, or perhaps I just don’t like how this particular season handled it. It’s not that the series didn’t try to be humorous on occasion, because it felt like there were plenty of set-ups and punchlines, but either the editing or the scoring always undermined it, so it never felt funny. I think this unbalance is what hurts it the most.
Anyway, I do think the plot was at least interesting, and I do think the characters were pretty good, even if they didn’t feel as filled out as Trigger.
Overall, a decent set of toys that are meant to (successfully) bolster existing figures, and a decent show to go with them. Ultra Galaxy Fight is also ongoing at the moment, and I’ve been super enjoying that one with just how fun and cheesy it is. As I’m still somewhat new to Ultraman, I’m still working out what it is I like about the series. Hopefully I’ll figure it out sooner rather than later.

Mission II: Jama Ball
Decker: The Sphere Obelisks gather power, inside Terraphaser, Agams is in a bad way. At Kanata's bedside, Ryumon confirms Hanejiro knew, when Kanata wakes up he rushes out, then notices Sphere scarring on his body. With 3 hours until the barrier contracts, a plan is made to destroy the Sphere Obelisks. The Nursedessei is immobilised, but can fire on the central pillar, but they need to destroy one of the others in the firing line, so GUTS-Select leads teams of TPU troops to plant Mega-Earth powered bombs to tear it down, contending with Soldiers and Terraphaser. The Nurse Cannon destroys half the pillar, but before it can fire again Terraphaser hits Nursedessei bad, and then gets a direct hit on Kaizaki. Decker Dynamic fights Terraphaser, struggling with his infection and trying to both remind Agams of what Laelia would want and recognising he's punishing himself as much as humanity. In a beam clash, Decker overcomes Terraphaser as Agams sees a vision of Laelia and remembers her desire to make friends across the universe. Low on energy, Decker prepares to attack the restored Obelisk, when Terraphaser appears behind him...and fires the TR Mega Buster at the Obelisk. Decker joins the attack, and together they destroy it, and the barrier, and contact is restored with Mars, Agams picks Kanata up, and thanks him for helping him remember what's important. And then Ultraman Trigger comes falling from the sky, a portent to the appearance of Mother Spheresaurus. In a swift battle, Mother Spheresaurus grabs Terraphaser and drains all of it's Sphere power, blasts Trigger, revealing Kengo's identity to Ryumon and Ichika, and then blasts Decker, who is relatively unscathed, at the cost of the Shield Calibur. Terraphaser takes the next blast for Decker, Agams proclaiming he can see the future Laelia and hoped for coming, before they are destroyed, and Decker reverts to Kanata, as his friends find him, the infection is spreading through his body.
Geats: This round is going to have the players vote who they think is the Desastar, the voted player will be eliminated regardless of if this is true or not. Archimedel plans to send Rook out this time. Keiwa has his own supporter now, Kekera. As Keiwa is visiting a youth centre he sometimes volunteers at, the kids get sealed in a Jama Area, the Riders are to make a team against the Jamato, consisting of Jamato Riders lead by Rook and score the most points in essentially basketball. Keiwa freezes up when he hears Rook use Shirowe's words, and at half time the Jyamato have a two point lead. Ace is asked by Jean about his quest for Mitsume, since he's found records of Ace's mother being an Ukiyo Mika, but receives no answer. Daichi questions Keiwa on his hesitation, and doesn't seem to disbelieve him, but advises keeping quiet, and Sae trains Neon and advises she work to achieve her goal. In a meeting, Daichi accuses Keiwa of being the Desastar, denying the previous conversation happened, and Keiwa currently has 3 votes, Kekera decides to prepare a secret mission for him. In the greenhouse, Michinaga stumbles on his old ID Core, taking it and a Desire Driver, barely able to transform when confronted by a Jamato Rider, he defeats it barely, confronted by two more he risks using the Jama Buckle, which causes massive pain and on it's own sends out vines that kill the Jamato. In the next round, with more Jamato and two balls, Keiwa gets a Twin Command Buckle for protecting the kids, and starts doing well fighting Rook, until it shows him it's human form, which freaks him out enough he knocks down Nadge-Sparrow when he tries to kill Rook, further convincing Lopo in particular that he's the Desastar.
Donbrothers: Sonoi discovers he's learnt to actually create beautiful art. Sonoza laughs genuinely at Haruka's latest work. Kijino wants Miho to stay home, but she goes back to work. Knowing Inuzaka was replaced by a Juto, the others ask him about it, but as he doesn't know who they are he tells them not to get involved, but relates what Sononi told him, Taro noting the difference with what Miho said. Jiro is planning to head home again to see Rumi and Terasaki, Taro decides to accompany him, when Jiro shows a photo of himself and Rumi to Kijino, Kijino only sees Jiro. A man who feels unappreciated at work is being possessed by ChouDenshiKi. Inuzaka wants to try just saving Natsumii rather than cutting down Miho, but Sononi tells him the odds of getting back to the forest are near impossible. Inuzaka confront Miho, Sononi arriving to watch, after InuBrother gets a few hits Miho assumes Juto form, which makes it easier for Inuzaka to strike with Murasame, Sononi recalling Inuzaka's words of love to Natsumii. After one blow from Murasame, Miho is incapacitated, and Inuzaka swings. When he opens his eyes, Miho has been pushed aside, and Sononi is wounded in front of him from Murasame's blade. As he tries to get Sononi to talk, Miho stumbles away, Taro finds her, seeking confirmation what she said was true, and she stresses she understands humanity better than him. He tries to help her, but she refuses, despising the Don Clan. ChouDenshiKi rampages. Kijino returns home to find Miho injured. Sononi admits she lied to Inuzaka, but can't explain her reasons before Sonoi and Sonoza arrive and make him leave, telling her they have to execute her. Miho tells Kijino Inuzaka attacked her. Sonoi knows any Noto who sides with humans must be executed like the Don Clan, but neither of them can do it, because they both know they're exactly the same. Sononi leaves to continue what she must. Kijino calls out Inuzaka, refuses to hear that Miho is a Juto, and attacks as KijiBrother, forcing Inuzaka to become InuBrother too, in his rage KijiBrother gets the advantage, but Sononi takes the killing shot, which stuns Kijino enough to stop. Sononi is still alive, but ChouDenshiKi arrives, both men trying to protect Sononi from it until the others arrive. For the first time all 6 Donbrothers transform together, and swiftly defeat the Hitotsu-ki. Inuzaka finds a dying or dead Sononi, and Kaito approaches. Subsequently, InuBrother, who has by far the most Kibi Points, has all but 2 spent, and Sononi awakens. Inuzaka let's go of her hand, and pushes her away, telling her he never wants to see her again. Haruka only realises she's learnt InuBrother's identity in the middle of the night.

honestly been thinking of starting to working on making an actual (SUPER)GUTS-Select related Carrier base that's both a mix of the Dive Hanger from Tiga and both the Grandome and Clarkov NF-3000 from Dyna! a base that could not only be stationary but also able to partake in the battle like the Ariel base from Gaia

alright, i'll go a bit into why i like kanata so much (most of it is incomprehensible fuzz so i'm saying what i can put to english).
it takes a lot to have an instant career change, especially when you're about to run the family business. but this guy does it, and he's willing to struggle through being the worst in all the guts-select cadets just for the sake of keeping the world safe. his isolation in being ultraman manifests often in being secretive of several things, and he's often reminded that he needs to work in a team environment, but he really shines when he leans into trusting his teammates. he's also cheery, stupid, hardworking, and always means well, which are character traits i adore.
oh, and also, his brain's basically made of rice crackers.
Alright, today’s been miserable. Funny people in my phone tell me who your favorite toku characters are and why. Bonus points for pictures.
