Missy Mia
Ever thought of a baby girl who looks like a carbon copy of her father? May I present to you, Mia Laica Feller Lagrama, an 18-year-old college girl who has a great love for basketball. She was born in the middle autumn season of September, particularly on the 16th day of the year 2004. Mia’s name has two kinds of history, first is that the name she had right now was supposed to be the name of the baby that her mother was taking care of before because they thought it was a girl. Second is that the initials of her two names are from her mother's and father’s nickname “Mel” and “Lito” making the letters “M” and “L”. Along with that, she was called a lot of different nicknames. Her nicknames are “Akik”, “Aica”, and “King”. Most of her nicknames were derived from her second name “Laica”.
When she came out of her mother’s tummy, she is dark-toned, has a high-bridged nose, a tomato cheeks, and has a resemblance with her father’s features. When Mia grew up, everyone thought that she was a tomboy because she really is boyish. She is the type of girl who doesn’t like dresses and heels. She prefers jeans, caps, and sneakers. In short, Mia is not girly. She has a talent for dancing, singing, and drawing. But one thing she is passionate about is dancing. She discovered it when she was in high school as she started joining in dance performances and dance competitions in school and organization. Mia also has a great love for reading. She loves to read fictional stories on Wattpad because it is her escape and she feels on cloud nine whenever she reads. She jokingly believes that “fictional men are way better than true men.” Her favorite novel is Chasing in the Wild from the University Series by Gwy Saludes.
Mia is very family-oriented. She has a good relationship with her mother and younger sister. Besides that, Mia was a very papa’s girl. They are the evidence that every firstborn in the family is really close to his or her father or they look alike each other. She idolizes her father so much that he influenced her in playing basketball. She already dreamt when she was a kid to be a part of a varsity team and play on the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), particularly on the team of Growling Tigresses of the University of Santo Tomas. She actually tried to join the try-out at UST back when it is the start of college admission for the year 2022-2023. Sadly, she wasn’t accepted yet it was a memorable moment for her because it was her dream university and there will be no regrets as she takes that opportunity. At the moment, she is currently a part of the women’s basketball team of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun), the university that she goes to. Mia believes that gender is not a basis for what things you should be into or like to do. She can be who she wants and what she wants. Mia is breaking the society’s stereotypes.
As the firstborn of the family, she kinda feels pressured. Entering the adolescence stage started her to think carefully about everything that she do. She became careful with her decisions and was firm with her priorities because she has the responsibility. She is in the front seat of the road she drives for her and her family. As she continues to drive the road she’s taking, she applies to herself the saying “Kung para sayo, para sa’yo” which means in English that if something is meant for you, then it will be yours. Applying it helped her to be positive always in the opportunities she takes.

ROAR from the land of the Tigers & Tigresses
Disclaimer: I am not really that religious type of person but I have a strong faith in God.
HOLA!!!
It's sundaaaayyy soooo it's church daaaayyy!!!
My cousin already have the need to go back in Manila ASAP today because she'll be resuming her classes by tomorrow monday due to the cancellation for the whole week last week because of the ASEAN SUMMIT.
So, I represented myself to accompany her on her way to Manila. We woke up at around 3:30AM-ish. We prepared ourselves, I helped her to pack her stuff, and we left Tarlac at around 4:30AM-ish. Then, we arrived to her dormitory in Dapitan Street by 7:00AM-ish.
We took a nap for a while on her dormitory. After that around 8:30 AM-ish we decided to roam around UST.
Kind of crowdy, because there's an ongoing USTET and there were lots of examinees around the university today.
The MAIN BUILDING. Please, never do a sign of the cross in front of this building. For there are misconceptions of some tourists that this is the UST CHUCH. But NAAAAAH. So be careful, 'cause some mean and judgmental Thomasians or not even Thomasians might laugh at you. Just so you know.
The UST CHURCH. Here's the inside look of the university's church. Pardon me, I didn't had the opportunity to take some pictures of the outside look because the sun's up and it's heat really brings a very scorching kind of feeling. And there were too many people around. We were already here a while ago so we took the chance to go to the university's church.
The ARCH OF THE CENTURIES. It is the triumphal arch at the Plaza Intramuros of the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, in the Philippines that stands meters away from the university's Millennium Gate along España Boulevard. (definition from: Wikipedia)
The LOVERS' LANE. It got more popular *although it really is already popular before* in the movie entitled One More Chance starring Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz. It was the meeting place of Basha and Popoy way back then when they were still in College. Basha from College of Architecture and Popoy from College of Engineering.
While we were roaming around in this lane a while ago, though I have walked and sat there a lot of times before, I told myself that the next time I'll be sitting on the benches or walking around here, I'll make sure that as a future Basha (huwaw as if namang UST na talaga ako e noh HAHA), I'll be walking and sitting here with my Popoy someday. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA funny but so what HAHAHAHAHAHA
12:30 NN-ish when I went to SM North Edsa to meet my other cousins. And we roamed around the mall. I didn't had any decent photos because dude, when I'm with them, I don't need my phone because of the joy that I am feeling. We ate pizzas and doughnuts, had coffee dates, and shopped for some clothes.
5:30PM-ish when they accompanied me to the Bus Terminal. Time ran so fast today. But the traffic around EDSA really irritated everyone.
7:00PM-ish when I got home. And I have a lot of tasks to finish because I forgot I am running after my academic works because the coming week is going to be a "neglecting" of academics kind of week.
P.S.: Anyhow, to accompany nor join my cousin on her way to UST is not really my thing for today. I had an agenda and that was to find some related studies and research for our Research Project about the San Sebastian Footbridge. But then, I failed because the UST Library was closed today because it's sunday. I'm not sure if the Librarian took a leave or a day-off. HAHAHA. FACEPALM x 35,000 HAHAHAHA. Gaaah, I am both Alice and the Mad Hatter. But I asked my cousins to find some studies related. HAHAAHAHA
11/19/17

Eddha Marie

Linesman - have responsibility is to judge whether a volleyball has landed inside or outside of the sidelines or service lines and to call any block touches. Analysis: It was a good start for the UST Golden Tigresses having to score first and continuously. During the first set the FEU Lady Tamaraws committed too many errors and had holes in their defenses resulting to their loss. During the second set the FEU Lady Tamaraws strive to catch up with the UST Golden Tigresses. The Lady Tamaraws were able to catch up by serving aces, but the Golden Tigresses were very determined and smart in their defenses resulting again to another win. By the last set the Golden Tigresses were very keen on leaving a big gap on the scores, having to score 5-1. By this time the Lady Tamaraws have committed way too many errors making them struggle to catch up with the scores of the Golden Tigresses. After two timeouts the Lady Tamaraws found their fire and were burning in the court to catch up with the scores, however the Golden Tigresses were more fueled up and very energized to win resulting to a win of 25-17.

Mirror, mirror, on the wall
Of these four, who’s gonna fall?
Hang on to your seats, folks. It’s winning time!!! (courtesy of richard esguerra, pbaonline)
This is it, folks! The gruelling UAAP Women’s Volleyball regular season saw 4 worthy teams scrambling for the last 2 slots. The Jaja Santiago-led NU Lady Bulldogs were there. So with the UP Lady Maroons, with top-gun Kathy Bersola. And so were perennial contenders FEU Lady Tamaraws and the UST Tigresses.
It was war, folks; with no quarters given, no quarters asked; and no mercy for the adversary. And when the smoke of battle cleared, the FEU Lady Tams and the UST Tigresses emerged victorious.say goodbye to the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Maroons. It is on to the semis for the two survivors, where they must face the towering powers of college volleyball today, the Ateneo Lady Eagles and the De La Salle Lady Spikers.
The FEU Lady Tams – starring Bernie Pons and Remy Palma – almost made it to the finals last year, pushing the eventual champions, the Lady Spikers of La Salle, to a rubber match. This time around, they must do the dance of death with a different partner, the invincible Lady Eagles of Ateneo. The Eagles, with their cerebral setter Jia Morado, and their seasoned hitters – Jhoanne Maraguinot, Mitch Morente, Bea De Leon, Kim Gequillana, et al are aching to reclaim the title they had let slip away last year. Having topped this season’s elimination round, Ateneo enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage over FEU.

The Eagles however cannot take this game lightly. They know that the Tamaraws had almost gored them in the elimination round twice. The Tams had pushed them to the limit, with heart-breaking 5-set losses on both occasions they had met. With a little more luck, and a little more focus, the Tams know that they are very capable of closing out the high-flying Eagles.
Eagles still on top despite the departure of superstar Alyssa Valdez. (courtesy of spin.ph)
The Tams had demonstrated a grit of their own, coming back from the dead by taking 3 consecutive must-win games at the homestretch, 2 of which came against fellow contenders NU and UP. The positive mindset is there. The basic skills are there. Will this winning attitude and dogged determination be a match to the veteran championship swag of the Eagles? Or will Morada and Morente make Morayta mourn?
On the other hand, the duel between La Salle and UST looks stacked in favor of the green Spikers. The Spikers won both encounters in the elims; the first in 4 sets, the second in a more commanding 3-set fashion. But the Taft-based belles of serve-and-volley cannot afford to be complacent. With an explosive combo of Cherry Rondina and EJ Laure capable of scattering nuclear bombs anytime, the Tigresses cannot to be discounted. UST had come from nowhere, before clawing back with a sizzling 7-game winning streak that eventually catapulted them back into contention. If Ria Meneses regains her peak defensive form as former Best Blocker of the league, the Tigresses could be a formidable force to reckon with.
The Rondina-Laure double barrel attack is UST’s key to glory. (courtesy of inquirer.net)
La Salle’s stats are pretty solid, particularly on the defensive end. They led the league in receiving and blocking, and have steady numbers in the rest of the stat sheet. With Dawn Macandili defending, and Kim Fajardo orchestrating the offense, plus last year’s Finals MVP Kim Dy leading a swarm of hitters, the team are as solid as the Great Wall of China. Given that, UST will need to show more consistency to keep abreast with the defending champs.
It’s not just 2 K’s and a Mac at La Salle. (courtesy of spin.ph)
The two mano-a-mano duels unfold before the fans this weekend. Watch the pesky Pons-and-Palma show from FEU do battle against Ateneo’s merry maids Maraguinot, Morado and Morente. See UST and the rockin’ Rondina-Laure tag team as they trade fireballs with La Salle’s twin Kims and the Dawn of Defense. We are down to the Final Four, folks. Get ready with your beer and popcorn. Take your favorite spot before the boob-tube. For it’s winning time once again in UAAP Women’s Volleyball!!!

UST’s EJ Laure and FEU’s Bernie Pons duke it out.
FEU’s Remy Palma provides leadership in the FEU fold.
Ateneo’s defense with Bea De Leon up front will be a crucial element.
Kim Fajardo and Kim Dy staying relaxed.
Jho Maraguinot and Bea De Leon beef up the Ateneo frontline.
Ria Meneses needs to get her old form back to boost UST’s chances.
Comebacking Mitch Morente provides more firepower to an already stacked Ateneo arsenal.
Dawn Macandili dives for the ball.
The Pons-Palma Partnership powers FEU.
Jia Morado provides leadership and stability to Ateneo after Alyssa left
Will 4th seed FEU Lady Tams be able to get past those 2 5-set losses to ateneo in the elims?
Can the 3rd seed UST Tigresses upend LaSalle’s dominance over them?
Are the Kims ready to bring the defending champs La Salle back to the top?
Or will Ateneo be able to regain the crown it lost last year?
And Then There Were Four… Mirror, mirror, on the wall Of these four, who's gonna fall? This is it, folks! The gruelling UAAP Women's Volleyball regular season saw 4 worthy teams scrambling for the last 2 slots.
