What does the UPSC do?
The UPSC conducts the following exams each year:
Civil Services Examination (CSE)
Engineering Services Examination (ESE).
Indian Forestry Services Examination (IFoS).
Central Armed Police Forces Examination (CAPF).
Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service (IES or ISS).
Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist Examination.
Combined Medical Services (CMS).
Special Class Railway Apprentices Exam (SCRA).
Limited Departmental Competitive Examination for selection of Assistant Commandant. (Executive) in CISF.
What is meant by the UPSC exam?
The UPSC civil service exam consists of three stages, namely – UPSC Prelims (objective), UPSC Mains (descriptive), and UPSC interview (personality test). Since conducting all three phases of the exam takes time, the exam window is open for about 10 to 12 months.
UPSC age limit
General category – 6 attempts till 32 years of age
OBC – 9 attempts till 35 years of age
ST or SC – unlimited attempts till 37 years of age
Physically disabled or disabled candidates – 9 attempts till the age of 42 years
Educational requirements for UPSC exam
To sit for the UPSC exam, one has to graduate and acquire a graduate degree from a recognized university.��

UPSC Exam Date 2020: Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) on Friday released the revised calendar 2020 for various examinations and recruitment tests to be conducted by the commission on its official website at upsc.gov.in.
UPSC had postponed various examination due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now the commission has announced new dates for the examinations.
According to the revised calendar, UPSC Civil Services prelims exam will be conducted on October 4 which was earlier scheduled to be held on March 31 while the UPS CCSE main exam will be conducted on January 8, 2021.
Moreover, the personality tests for Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2019 for the remaining candidates are being resumed from July 20, 2020.
NDA and NA Examination (I), 2020 will be held on September 6, 2020. Examination of IES/ISS 2020 will be held on October 16 while the engineering services main exam will be held on August 9, 2020. Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination, 2020 will be held on August 8.
Other Important Dates of UPSC exams:
Combined Medical Services Examination, 2020 — October 22
Central Armed Police Forces (ACs) Examination, 2020 – December 20
Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination, 2020 — February 28, 2021

NEW DELHI: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the results of Combined Geo‐Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2020 on Commission’s website. The candidates who have appeared for the UPSC Combined Geo‐Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2020 can visit the official website of UPSC — upsc.gov.in – to check and download the result.
UPSC had conducted the Geo-Scientist preliminary examination on January 19, 2020. The candidates who have qualified the Geo-Scientist preliminary examination are eligible to appear for the Combined Geo‐Scientist (Main) Examination, 2020.
The official notification reads “On the basis of the result of the Combined Geo‐Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2020 held by the Union Public Service Commission (U.P.S.C.) On 19th January, 2020, the candidates with the under mentioned Roll Numbers have qualified for the Combined Geo‐Scientist (Main) Examination, 2020. The result is also available on the U.P.S.C. ‘s Website https://upsc.gov.in.”
Notification also reads “Candidates are also informed that marks and cut‐off marks of the Combined Geo‐ Scientist (Preliminary) Examination, 2020 will be uploaded on the Commission’s website i.e. https://upsc.gov.in after the entire process of the Combined Geo‐Scientist Examination, 2020 is over i.e. after the declaration of the final result of the Combined Geo‐Scientist Examination, 2020.”
UPSC has scheduled to conduct Combined Geo‐Scientist (Main) Examination, 2020 on June 27 and 28, 2020. The candidates can download their e‐admit cards from the Commission’s Website around 3 weeks before the commencement of the Combined Geo‐Scientist (Main) Examination, 2020.
