UAL Level 3/4 Foundation Dip in Art & Design Unit 2: Print Pathway - Lino Printing
As it's been a long time since I did a post, I thought I best do a catch up one now, as I am now midway through my Level 4 unit, which is my FMP. The work here is from the Spring term and is a selection of some of the work I did for my Unit 2: Print Pathway, which was a 10 week project running from Nov 2023 to Feb 2024. This post is just about the lino printing. The screen printing I will save for another post. The tetrapack printing, well...I may just give that one a miss altogether, it doesn't look as impressive and I didn't enjoy it as much. I enjoyed the lino printing the most out of everything we did, as it was more familiar as I had done some in a previous project. The rest of it however, had its highs and lows. This was one of the highs. I didn't enjoy it because I found it easy mind you, in fact my classmates were terrified I would accidentally take a chunk out of my finger with the carving tool! But despite my classmates lack of faith in me, I had a lot of fun doing this. The fish lino print (Mr Fishie) was a challenge, as that process involved carving some of the lino away, printing, washing off the ink, carving again, printing again, you get the picture. I think the print of the fish on the Khadi paper was the most successful.

Shining Hearts ~ Melodies and Melancholy Masterlist
Tumblr media
Main Description: While Yuulan, Ace and Deuce have their hands full preparing for the joint cultural festival and the VDC, Danica is kept busy as well with her own team made up of various young ladies around the school. Each of her teammates was hand chosen by Vil himself with the same level of care as the boys team. But clashing personalities and personal disagreements between her and her dorm leader aren’t making things any easier for her! And before Danica can lead her wayward team to victory, she must also come to terms with the knowledge that she is slowly morphing into the kind of young woman the world might not want her to be.
Will Danica be able to pass Vil’s ultimate test? Or is this ship sunk before it’s even had a chance to sail?
A/N: Before reading this, I strongly suggest reading part one and part two of my winter break headcanons for my twst ocs as what happens will be referenced a lot in this fic, especially Danica’s.
Disclaimer: I do not own Twisted Wonderland or any of its characters, only my ocs. Other ocs featured in this fic belong to their respective owners. Also, while I try to write the TWST canon characters as true to their canon selves as possible, please be aware I have my own interpretations about certain aspects of their respective arcs. So some characters MIGHT come off as somewhat ooc.
Rating: 16+
Warnings: Swearing, suggestive themes, forced kisses, brief references to se*ual harassment/assault, A LOT of angst and A LOT of talk about sexism and double standards in the entertainment industry, and some violence in later chapters. Basically all warnings from book 5 apply

Level 3 Extended Diploma Unit 13 Project Proposal pro forma
Name: Sarah-Jayne Langford
Pathway: UAL Level 3 art and design: photography
Project title: Habitat
Section 1: Rationale (approx. 150 words)
When starting the course, I didn’t have as many skills as I do now such as recognising compositional techniques within my own work as well as other artists work. I have gained skills within the darkroom and how to process my imagery, I have skills for the use of cameras that I use within the course and studio skills which were needed for many photos that I have taken throughout the course, I have also gained photoshop skills which has helped me edit my photos in a professional manner. Other than technical skills my research skills have improved since secondary as I am contextualising my work more which helps me a lot as it helps the audience understand my research and my work progress leading up to my final piece. I think my ideas development has improved a lot more since last year as I am showing my progress for how I got the ideas and how I have changed them for if they didn’t work out how I wanted them to.
Section 2: Project concept (approx. 250 words)
My own concept within this project is going to be about domestic abuse as I think it matches the project theme of ‘habitat’ as domestic abuse can happen inside and outside the home. When doing this concept, I will be researching different photographers that have photographed about domestic abuse such as Richard Johnson and Nan Goldin for inspiration towards the techniques that I will use within my photos. I am wanting to have some photos location based using real people to express their experience through domestic abuse to tell their story in either a series of images or a singular image depending on what their experience was like with images like these I will be using a digital camera which allows me to edit my photographs if needs be to make them stand out more if I want the images to look more lowkey or less colourful. I will also be using the studio for some photos to make lowkey images as it will make the situation look more mysterious which will be taken with real people with their real situations these will be taken digitally as well as I think the images will look better as I will have total control with the camera and studio to make my images look the best they can.
I have quite a few ideas for my concept throughout this project however I have thought of two that might work out the best within my concept, my ideas for my first set of images would be to have a real victim look into a mirror hiding a blackeye with makeup which I think would be good visually, however I also think having someone's face pushed against glass to distort their face as well as showing physical abuse within this image.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 100 words)
Throughout this project I will be evaluating my work by explaining tasks and my work within the tasks then explaining my opinion on the task and how well I thought my images have turned out during the task. I will also document any idea changes that I will come across during the project as noting down idea changes is important as it will help the people looking at my work identify where my ideas have changed and why they have changed as it will help them understand my process up until my final image(s). My ideas for the start of the project may change throughout the project however I will be keeping my concept of domestic abuse throughout the project no matter what my first ideas come out as.

Project action plan and timetable
Week
Date week
beginning
Activity/what you intend to do - including independent study
Resources / what you will need to do - including access to resources
1
24th February 2020
Within this week I have looked at the brief and started noting down ideas for my concept within this project.
2
2nd march 2020
This week I will be focusing on looking at some artists that will fit into my concept of work as well as evaluating the task that I have done this week as well as evaluating my images. I will also be writing about 3 images that I have found and liked within Jackie's lesson.
I will need my sketchbook as I will be printing out my work and evaluating my work to show what I have done within the task and if I liked the outcome of the task, I will also be researching online some artists that have photographed domestic abuse and put this into my sketchbook.
3
9th march 2020
This week I have made sure that all of my work within my sketchbook is up to date as well as doing my own research for my own concept within this project and starting to take images for my own concept to form ideas which will become successful within my project to create my final idea.
I will be needing the internet as well as my sketchbook to research the photographers that I am looking at as well as annotating my work to show the process of my ideas and how well the shoots turned out.
4
16th march 2020
This week I have experimented and elaborated more on my first test shoot by trying transparent film and creating ideas for the backgrounds that can be used behind the transparent film to create narrative behind the distorted faces. I will also be researching photographers such as Mat Collishaw and finishing research on Tracey Holland and a group project by Fay Godwin and Paul Walsh.
I will be needing my sketchbook as I will be putting my experiments within my sketchbook and annotating them as well as adding research into my sketchbook and having mood boards and drawings to show my progress within my ideas as my ideas adapt.
5
23rd march 2020
This week I am doing more research within my sketchbook due to lockdown because of the coronavirus especially as I am unable to take photographs. I will also be coming up with sketch ideas for my transparent photos for a possible idea for if I decide I want my transparent scans to become my final set of images.
I will be doing research online and providing evidence of work by artists within my sketchbook to try and relate their work to my concept of domestic violence. I will also be making sketches that relate to domestic violence to show what type of abuse the individual has gone through.

An excellent day in London with the UAL level 3 and BTEC Art Foundation Diploma Students, now all working on their level 4 Final Major Project.
‘Tracey Emin’ at the White Cube Bermondsey, great gallery and exhibition, lots of discussion and apparently Tracey herself was in the gallery, according to students who are sure that they saw her. Then walked to the Thames via Borough Market and past the old Clink Street prison and Operating Theatre. Then into the Hayward Gallery for Kader Attia - terrific show ‘Museum of Emotion’ and the Dianne Arbus photography retrospective, both inspiring. Then an hour in Tate Modern before all back onto the coach to Somerset. A great way to conclude the term.

This year and the future
The key things I’ve learnt this year is How to become a better photographer, how to use Photoshop and how to make a Photo book. This year I’ve also learnt a lot on how to use studio lighting as I wasn’t very good at it before. I also learnt more bout lens and what lens I should use for the right shoot.
I want to progress to year 2 as I would love to have a UAL Level 3 Qualification on my cv which will help me a lot with jobs in the future.
My Favourite subject in photography has always been nature. I just love going outside and being able to take pictures of nature, people don’t know how lucky they are that they live in this beautiful world and have all this nature around them. Taking pictures of nature is fun especially when you get some great shots. Therefore, Nature is the specialist subject that I’m thinking of doing next year. I really love football and I’ve always wanted to do sports photography, but I’ve never done it as I don’t have the equipment to do so but I really want to give it a go soon.
After this course I want to look at doing an apprenticeship and most likely do photography on the side-line. I want to carry on with photography, but I can’t see me wanting to do it as a full-time job and doing it for the rest of my life. After the day we spent at Trent University I’ve been thinking about going to university, but I don’t know if I’m cut to to do another 4 years of further education. I really want to ether get a job or an apprenticeship because I need/ want money and getting money will give me the motivation to do work. When I’m older I would love to be a business owner but I’m not 100% sure yet what in.

Liposuction Treatment in Delhi – The Optimum Weight Loss Method
Liposuction is the High-level strategy known as Lipo-Sculpting and Lipo with body shaping/skin fixing. The procedure is done by the skilled and experienced Lipoplasty specialist in Delhi. Liposuction helps you to Decrease your undesirable Fat from Face, Calves and Thighs, Back, Abdomen, Buttocks, Arms, Breast and more with Liposuction Treatment in Delhi.
 About Liposuction
Liposuction has become one of the best methods for fat reduction from any part of your body. Throughout the long term this specific corrective strategy has become safer. Liposuction or lipoplasty is a plastic medical procedure. A strategy helps in eliminating undesirable fat from various body regions. This Suction-helped fat decrease method is conceivable after the specialist makes a little entry point. And afterward by utilising a cannula, a restricted empty metal bar, appended to a vacuum syphon is embedded under the skin.
Tumblr media
What Should I Know Beforehand?
The initial step is to talk with your specialist. Talk about your objectives, the choices, the risks and advantages, and the expenses. Pose every one of your inquiries. Assuming that you choose to proceed with liposuction, your specialist will give you directions on the best way to get ready for it. These may include some changes in your eating routine and liquor limitations.
 Liposuction Surgery in Delhi
The liposuction surgery cost in Delhi can be anywhere between INR 20,000 to INR 50,000 depending upon the Location, Doctors fees, city etc. Regardless, the liposuction medical procedure in Delhi for the different areas of the body are recorded underneath.

5. Full Body liposuction medical procedure: INR 50,000 onwards
 Distended Liposuction (Liquid Infusion)
Distended liposuction is the most well-known sort of liposuction and typically a more extended methodology than different kinds of liposuction.
A lot of sedated arrangement is infused into the region before the fat is eliminated. The arrangement is a combination of a nearby sedative (lidocaine), a medication that agrees with the veins (epinephrine), and an intravenous (IV) salt arrangement. Lidocaine numbs the region to limit pain.
Epinephrine lessens blood misfortune, swelling and expanding.
 Super-Wet Procedure
The super-wet method resembles bloated liposuction aside from that less liquid is utilised during this medical procedure. The super-wet strategy is for the most part speedier than other liposuction techniques. It frequently requires general sedation or meds that make the patient drowsy (quieted).
 Ultrasound-Helped Liposuction (UAL)
This procedure utilises ultrasonic vibrations to condense fat cells. The fluid fat is vacuumed out.
UAL might assist with eliminating fat from thick, fiber-filled (stringy) regions of the body like the upper back or augmented male bosoms.
Tumblr media
Laser-Helped Liposuction (LAL)
This method utilises laser energy to condense fat cells. The melted cells are then vacuumed out or permitted to stream out through little cylinders. The procedure is appropriate for little regions like the jaw, cheeks, cheeks, and face. The additional benefit is that laser energy invigorates the creation of collagen. This might keep the skin from hanging after the liposuction.

Industry Context: Nihil sub sole novum (there is nothing new under the sun is a term that defines the design and media industry, but reinvention is a catchphrase that sits within the space between indifferent and extraordinary production. The book (and what we read) affects us in a different way from the visual world where plagiarism is rife. It does so because words allow for interpretation by the reader whose individual imagination defines the outcome. To be a designer, maker or developer you have to ‘find’ ideas that are not already made and reinterpret.

How to use drawing and diagrams to create portfolio ready art work.
How to record research and development in portfolio and online

UAL Level ¾ Foundation Dip Art & Design Unit 2: Narrative Pathway - Vampire Zine
This is my last post related to Unit 2. I know there is a bit of a gap between the last post and this, but I have been working solidly on my FMP since the end of February, and I will probably/maybe post about that in a couple of weeks, or when the asessement stage is over. For the last four weeks of our Narrative Pathway, as part of Unit 2 of my Foundation Dip, we had to create a small zine in any format/medium we chose. However, it had to be ‘replicable’. I decided on the theme of Vampires. I know Vampire themed art is pretty well done to death, but I tried to create something a bit different and cover some different ideas and themes. I enjoyed this part of the unit the most. All of the finished images were created in Procreate. If you want to see some of the process work, then it's included in my PORTOLIO:VAMPIREZINE.

TO DO / CONTINUE BUILDING ON THIS
Feedback and targets:
Your proposal is based on the Forest Creatures theme from Roots. Your BLOG is very well organised and presented, with fantastic analysis and development of your work through screenshots and timelapse videos. On your proposal ensure you continue to build on your bibliography, every link or resource add in the reference as well as filling in your schedule with more detail.
Presenting mock-ups of your outcomes from the techniques would showcase your work professionally and you could reflect on this to move forward into your ideas and how you will use any of the techniques to develop your outcomes. For example turning your illustrations into stickers, adding a dispersion effect, double exposure or surreal collage to your characters or using the liquify texture as a background - these will all enhance your work.
Continue to build on research, sourcing artists, designers, illustrators and graphic styles that will influence your development as well as referring back to the research you have already sourced. Look at how art and design skills are used within your subject - font/colour/style etc. Use pinterest to inspire you!
The reflection on both your work and your research is thorough and appropriate. Ensure you use this in the next stage of your development of designs.
Your typography work is particularly strong and an area that you could continue to explore in your work. Your illustration artwork is incredible, continue to combine with the new skills you’ve learnt with typography.
Overall, you have started to create some fantastic work and I would like to see you continue to develop your work, explore other experiments and techniques with the new skills you’ve learnt with typography and imagery within your story book/comic. You need to identify how you will present your artwork, considering your use of typography, layout and style.
TARGETS
Fully complete your schedule and develop your project within the timescale.
Consistently post research throughout the project - design research to inspire style and editing, contextual research to support subject matter - investigating into storybooks, comics, illustrated novels.
The Cottingley fairy hoax of 1917 is a case study in how smart people lose control of the truth
Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream, find some information about the play and then perhaps watch the film for some ideas. You could upload a few screenshots if you end up watching it
Thumbelina
Alice in Wonderland, look at the environments, flowers, background details. This will help you design your backdrops for your comic
In your designs and written notes link your research to your development, how has it inspired you? Make comparisons to your work.
Make stickers out of your characters
Use liquify texture as backgrounds or textures within your illustrations.
Use your illustrations with the typography effects
Continue to screenshot all independent development work (or use video timelapse) - aim for 6 screenshots a day. Notes on how you progress each day, what work you create and your reflection (opinion, improvement etc)
Present final pieces professionally - use mock-ups, profile sheets, templates etc.
Reflection of your work throughout and final evaluation.

Unit 11 My CV
Imogen Lorne Williams
 +44 7722806021   [email protected]
Personal statement
I am a confident and creative photography student in my second year studying at Nottingham College with aims to go to university. I often represent my class at college to a panel of leaders and governors. This involves taking part in meetings, discussing student issues and aiming to resolve those issues.
Outside of college, I enjoy reading books, writing, experimenting with my photography and editing images for my Instagram page. I also like to spend time with family and friends. I particularly enjoy helping my sister look after her horse and clean the stables. This can be physically demanding but I like taking part. I would like to think I am responsible and trustworthy and enjoy a challenge to accomplish my goals.
I have previously volunteered at Oxfam working in their book shop on a Tuesday evening. I volunteered here, as I wanted to give something back to the community as well as display my support for the charity.
I am great with making customers feel welcome and I have no issues with approaching people in a work environment if they require any assistance. I am a quick learner who processes information quickly and applies it. I hope to become an asset of your working environment with my developing skill set.
Experience
Morley’s School Outfitters-3rd July to the 7th September
Phone: 0115 925 8046
Address: Bramcote Ave, Beeston, Nottingham NG9 4DR
At my time working at Morley’s I went to 7 selling shows at schools from Nottingham to Birmingham selling school uniform to parents this job required me to pick up important information quickly
These shows went on between 6hrs to 4 hrs each time. These shows greatly improved my confidence and perfected my customer service skills.
These selling shows often created a high stress environment many parents don’t like buying and fitting school uniform for their children as it can be very expensive and difficult as children don’t enjoy wearing the uniform.
When I was working in the shop the jobs I did included:
stocking shelves on the shop floor
stocking the upstairs stock rooms
greeting customers who came into the shop (sometimes all customers if working alone)
helping customers with sizing of the uniform and putting them in what size I thought was appropriate
working on the till in a very fast pace environment,
maintaining the stores appearance,
collecting orders for people,
creating orders making sure I take the customers details correctly
When new stock arrived I’d label it and mark it of the system
OXFAM Music and Book shop (Volunteer) February 2018- June 2018
I have previously volunteered at Oxfam working in their book shop on a Tuesday evening 13:00-17:00. I did this in my spare time gaining lots of skills and confidence each week I worked on the till speaking to customers and handling money as well taking old stock from the shelves and replacing it with new stock I took too their organisation method easily and efficiently. I worked here for 4 months before leaving and starting a job at Morleys School Outfitters.

United Airlines reveals coronavirus safety guide in effort to restore self-confidence after reaction over packed flight
Airline companies are attempting to fill a minimum of a few of the seats on the aircrafts they have in the sky.
Air travel in the U.S. has largely ground to a halt as individuals have grown careful about potentially exposing themselves to coronavirus. Numerous airlines have actually turned to flying mostly empty flights– although sometimes, travelers have grumbled about congested planes, as when it comes to a current United Airlines UAL,. 4.01% flight.
The airline company announced a series of changes on Wednesday to help bring back the general public’s self-confidence in flight, laying out how it will run at airports and on board aircrafts, consisting of a collaboration with Clorox Co. CLX,. 1.46% for enhanced cleansing and another with medical experts from the Cleveland Clinic, as it works to keep guests safe throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
“ United will introduce sneeze guards at check-in counters, touchless kiosks in select locations for luggage check-in, compulsory face coverings for team and clients, and will give travelers choices when flights are over 70%full. “
The business unveiled brand-new cleaning and security procedures that include sneeze guards at check-in counters, touchless kiosks in choose areas for baggage check-in, mandatory face coverings for crew and clients, brand-new economy treat bags that will come with a sanitizing clean, and providing individually covered hand sanitizer wipes to clients when they board. United will likewise restrict advance seat selections when possible, and offer passengers the choice to take alternative flights when flights are over 70%complete, the business said.
This is a noteworthy turn-around in policy for the airline, provided criticism fixed United in recent weeks. Previously this month, Ethan Weiss, a University of California, San Francisco, cardiologist, shared an image on Twitter TWTR,. 6.45% showing almost every seat full on the plane out of Newark Airport in New Jersey. He stated customers were “surprised” and “terrified.”
” I guess @united is unwinding their social distancing policy these days? Every seat complete on this 737,” Weiss composed. “They might have prevented this by just communicating better,” Weiss added. “They actually simply sent out an email 10 days ago talking people the middle seats would be empty.” He was taking a trip with 25 other nurses and doctors who have actually been volunteering in New York health centers.
At the time, United said it might no longer ensure all clients would be booked beside an empty seat. “Last month, we began limiting sophisticated seat selection for surrounding seats in all cabins, including middle seats where available and alternating window and aisle seats when seats are in sets,” the company said in a declaration to ABC7. DIS,. 2.34%
Airlines for America, an industry trade group, launched a summary in April of how U.S. airlines are improving cleansing and security procedures. Alaska Airlines. ALK,. 5.09% increased its cleansing procedures between flights and is now utilizing disinfectants that are effective against infections, it said. American Airlines aircraft are cleaned up at routine periods throughout the day with disinfectant.

Airlines are working to help contain and stop the spread of COVID-19, Airlines for America stated. “The security of travelers and staff members is the top concern of U.S. airline companies,” it included. “Because the beginning of the novel coronavirus pandemic, carriers have actually been working carefully with Congress, the Administration and federal firms consisting of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.”
” There’s no doubt that these unprecedented times will lead to some significant modifications in the travel market,” said travel specialist Brian Kelly, also understood as The Points Person on his site
“ ‘ Till a vaccine is established, providers will need to make customers feel safe. Increased cleansing is a start, however we’re most likely to see needs for more protections, consisting of health screening.’. “
— Brian Kelly, AKA The Points Guy
” JetBlue was among the very first U.S. airlines to require that team members use masks and simply recently extended the exact same rule to guests,” Kelly composed on his site. “In addition, JetBlue has restricted the variety of seats readily available for purchase, allowing for more space in between clients. Team members will continue to examine seat tasks to abide by social-distancing guidelines.”
Jet Blue. JBLU,. 3.36% stated Wednesday it will continue to obstruct middle seats on Plane. AIR,. 1.51% airplanes in rows where individuals aren’t traveling together through July 4, and will block aisle seats on smaller Embraer. ERJ,. 2.88% “Even with blocked seats, it’s challenging to keep 6 feet of distance in between everybody onboard and that’s why JetBlue was the first U.S. airline to need face coverings for customers,” the airline stated Wednesday.
U.S. airline companies are considering taking comparable actions to Chinese airlines.
” United Arab Emirates-based Etihad has currently begun checking new innovation that would screen passengers for unsafe medical conditions like COVID-19 by monitoring their temperature levels, heart rates and breathing rates,” Kelly included. “However, many people with COVID-19 have actually been asymptomatic.”
” In the U.S., Frontier Airlines recently executed a program that requires travelers to accept a health recommendation prior to finishing check-in via site or app,” Kelly said. “This is the first we have actually heard of any U.S. airline company instituting its own health-screening check. This isn’t the most efficient screening, but it’s a start.”

Providers’ stocks have actually had a rollercoaster trip in reaction to the across the country financial shutdown due to the coronavirus. Warren Buffett recently exposed that Berkshire. BRK.A,. 1.87% had actually sold all of its holdings in the airline sector, including stock in Delta. DAL,. 3.86%, American Airlines. AAL,. 2.19% and Southwest. LUV,. 4.15%
Boeing. BA,. 1.94% Chief Executive David Calhoun said a significant airline company will “more than likely” go under as a result of the coronavirus pandemic during a current appearance on NBC’s “Today” show He added that it might take 3 to 5 years for the industry to recover to the traveler levels seen prior to the pandemic. Airline companies, on the other hand, face an uphill struggle to encourage guests to fly.
” Security has always been our leading concern, and today in the midst of an unmatched crisis, it’s our particular customer focus,” Scott Kirby, United’s President, said in a video message to clients on Wednesday. “We recognize that COVID-19 has brought cleanliness and hygiene standards to the front of consumers’ minds when making travel choices.”
