A river of blood: A snippet of the second (As well as the last) chapter
Though the time was the deadest hour of the night when almost all the living beings in this world drifted into the universe of a peaceful siesta excluding the bats travelling across the ebony vacuum and the round-eyed owls sitting on the twigs of the dense trees and surveilling the movements of rats amidst the crops, the moon princess decided to give it some life. That’s why, her luminosity was seeping through the diamond-shaped loopholes of the dance hall, accompanied by the gust of nightly zephyr which pushed the transparent, baby-blue georgette curtains a little, making a way for reawakened heartbeats of the midnight. Inside, only a pair of scented candles were lit, at two different corners of the chamber, set on long, metal candle-stands.
No, not two. Another was also there, in the form of a beautiful young lady. Moonlight descended on her bronze skin and unbound wavy tresses; thick, waist-length, deep violet in color and bedecked with a wreath made of green leaflets and blue cornflowers. A sleeveless, halter-neck gown, having aquamarine chintz-pattern on dark-blue background, was embracing her slim figurine, with a floral turquoise belt encircling her slender waist. A pair of long, teardrop oxidized earrings, studded with two blue beryl-stones, were swaying from her earlobes. Wrists were bound in silver cuffs where twin aquamarines were flashing. At last, but not at least, bell anklets were tied around her lean and smooth ankles, hidden underneath her skirt. Her legs were parted in half a right angle, so were her arms in 180-degree.
Pleasant tunes come to my lips, to be sung,
But my heart makes excuses which are different,
Your memories haunt me, pester me,
Now, my heart regrets, it regrets…
There was no music, no tune, no beat. Yet, when she moved her right leg behind the left, the dead silence in the room got shattered just like a crystal mirror with a clink of her anklets. Her hands twisted from their former positions and formed a lotus near to the middle of her chest. On both of her ankles, she twirled and opened her eyes slowly, revealing the candid exquisiteness of her circular, turquoise orbs, guarded by thick, dark violet lashes under her arc-shaped eyebrows. Though she was enjoying her dance, surprisingly, there was no smile in her lips at that time. Bending her knees, a tad, keeping her both feet opposite to each other, she switched her position into a mini-squat. Then again, a rotation occurred, like the earth around her own axis.
My beloved,
I touch your feet,
Please, don’t go, don’t leave me,
My beloved,
How do I coax you?
Love pricks this heart so badly…
“Smack!”
The large, double-portioned, ligneous door of the dance hall got opened unexpectedly since her anklets stopped, so did her movements while her back was facing the entrance. The breeze roaming inside decided to change its direction and the magnitude of the speed, detecting the presence of a second person in the compartment. Nonetheless, the purplette didn’t bother to turn back and have a glimpse of the comer. Smiling faintly, she went to one of the candle-stands. Picking up a crystal lantern from the ground, she lit it up and approached the navy-haired guy gently, enlightening the room a bit more. Her heart was still pounding hard, blobs of perspiration were sticking to her temple and cheeks. Teal orbs captured his image on them, on the cramming globules of waterworks.
“Dancing at such a moment?” Takao cocked an eyebrow, “Of course, it suits none but you, Dew-chan. You surely know how to turn a night into daylight.”
“But without you,” The dancer asserted, “Even the daylight seems darker than the black, Takao-kun.”
“I’m extremely sorry, Dew,” The blunette sounded a little sheepish, “You know how busy I remain all the day. I can barely manage time even for myself. You must be very annoyed with me, right?”
“Annoyed? With you?” The purplette snickered, placing the lantern on a nearby table, “How can I be annoyed with that person who is the only source of happiness in the life of this mere court-performer? I was just…missing you.”
“I missed you too, my purple rose.” Takao laid a palm on her left cheek, with an attempt to dive into her orbs which apparently had no depth.
“Duh, liar!” Grimacing, she turned her face away and brought a pair of low, lightweight wooden stools. Placing them on the floor, she sat on one of it and gestured her beloved to have a sit. Once he occupied it, she asked, “So tell me, how are your days going in the camp?”
“Not so fine,” The navy-haired guy sighed and shrugged, “The Russians can launch a raid on us within the next two or three days. That’s why, we will charge on them tomorrow night. Before a while, I had to prepare a complete battalion and attend two training sessions.”
“Takao-kun, don’t worry,” Dew placed a hand on his shoulder, “I have full belief on you, your gallantry as well as all the valiant warriors of Japan who will be fighting with you, remaining by your side always. Together, you will make Japan victorious. I will pray for you so that this battle becomes successful.”
“Thank you so much, Dew-chan,” Takao beamed as his restless heart calmed down, hearing her once, “I really needed it a lot.”
“So…” The purplette took a few moments to utter her next words to him, “Is it all for which you came to meet me?”
“Hmm…” The blunette couldn’t answer to this question of her directly. His gazes were lowered, lips were folded inside. How would he tell her that he came only to view her in front of his eyes, maybe…for one last time? Warriors didn’t have the guarantee to live a long life, both he and she were well-aware of this fact. An awkward silence fell in the chamber, encircling them from all the four directions. The gale also stopped humming, realizing the intensity of the situation. Did the rays of the moon refrain themselves from peering into the room? Did the curtains cease dancing?
“It’s okay…” After a pregnant pause, it was the purplette who broke the bizarre tranquility, “I can understand, Takao-kun. You can barely get time to rest. Even in this situation, you have come to meet me. Thank you so much.”
“Thanks for feeling me too, Dew-chan,” The warrior somehow managed to give a smile, “Don’t worry. Teaching those Russians a perfect lesson, obtaining victory, I will return to you soon.”
“Wait..” The purplette tucked out an azure thread from her waistbelt, speckled with a sapphire at its center. It gleamed when the blazes of the candles and the quartz lantern boogied in front of it.
“What’s it, Dew-chan?” Takao was curious.
“Today morning, I had a small visit at the shrine of lord Bishamonten. Praying to him for you, I brought this sacred bracelet,” Taking one of the wrists of the combatant, the danseuse tied the string around it, “Takao-kun, to be frank, I trust your Katana more than these rituals. Besides, I don’t know whether the prayers and wishes of a court-performer are heard by the holy deities or not. But those who are loyal to their kingdoms, determined to save their territories and can fight till the death to attain victory, lord Bishamonten never turns his face away from them. It will protect you in the battlefield.”
“Hey…” The Samurai squeezed her shoulders gently, “Don’t belittle yourself, my purple rose. It is the fault of those lustful and dirty eyes which try to eat you when you dance. In my eyes, you have always portrayed the purest form of arts and you are one of the holiest souls in our kingdom. I promise, I’ll tie the knots with you once this war is over. Then, not a single pair of eyes will be able to throw those dirty and suggestive glares at you.”
“Takao-kun…” Holding his hand between her palms, she rested her forehead there and sobbed.
“No, Dew-chan, it’s not the time to shed tears,” Throwing an arm around her shoulders, he stood up along with her. Wiping her cheeks, he emptied his lungs once, “They will only block my path. Bid me a temporary farewell, my love. Pray and wait for me. Very soon, we will be reunited. Then, even this river of blood won’t be able to flow between us.”
“I’ll keep my eyes upon the way till your comeback, Takao-kun,” Dew tearfully leered, “Be victorious!”
Placing a mellowing peck on her temple, the blunette turned back and crossed the boundary of the dance-hall with very quick, yet, heavy footsteps. Riding his stallion, he pulled its rein as it neighed, thudding the ground with his front hooves galloping on, creating a mini sandstorm behind which blinded the turquoise orbs of the purplette. Once it was clear, there was no one. Biting her lips, Dew-chan rushed inside. Her anklets chimed and resonated all over the room but couldn’t surpass the tempo of the beats of her heart. She looked at the pair of the stools, one of which had been occupied by him even before a few moments. Her Takao-kun.
No one knows the pain of my heart
Only my heart, knows
And also, this hateful world doesn’t know…
The clouds don’t come to rain the water
So that bees and flowers get faded in the orchard…
The breeze, for the last time in that night, paid a visit to the compartment as the curtains pulsated periodically once. Before the departure, it didn’t forget to smother both the candles and the lantern, leaving the place completely plunged into darkness. The thick clouds in the sky surrounded the silver moon and captured her into their dungeon. As a result, the moonlight also couldn’t peep inside anymore. There was no light, no sound, no warmth anymore. The anklets also rang for one final time, done with those hours as she kowtowed on the ground and buried her face amidst her palms. Then, the only sounds remained in the chamber belonged to her tears and heart-wrenching sighs, reverberating from walls to walls.
After fighting, I only remorse,
But can't find a way to convince my lover,
To whom did I will share my secrets of my hearts?
And tell my anguish?
My lord, don’t leave my wrist,
I beg to you, please don’t forget me…

I thought to complete “A river of blood” ASAP, that’s why, started writing its last chapter. How is it looking? Would Takao remain safe and be able to meet his Dew-chan again?

Headcanons: Dew-chan
Although this original character of me doesn’t have any specific surname (In my stories, though she’s Hilary’s sister at most of the times, there are/will be some instances where she’ll be Kai’s sister or not biologically related to Kai or Hilary), her surname after marriage will always be “Granger”. I have specially portrayed this character based on my youngest cousin whom I love to no end as she has also a huge crush on Tyson Granger, the three-peat world champion of Beyblade. So...let’s have a look about her.
1. Features: Dew’s complexion is dusky, eyes are bubbly and turquoise-colored. She has a pretty good length of violet hair which is straight. Her figure is admirable though it doesn’t have so many curves and she is quite light-weighted, shorter than Hilary.
2. Unlike her sister in most of the fics, she’s a pure girly girl, very gentle, soft-spoken and obedient. Her manners are very perfect although she is quite shy and kind of introvert. In short, she has the personality of portrait of the perfect girl pictured by the society (Keyword: “Defined” by the society because I strongly believe that every girl is perfect :) )
3. I have mentioned that she’s such a babieee...right? Nah, just speak a word against Tyson Granger in front of her, then you’ll see how polite and good girl she is xD. In these cases, she doesn’t even spare Hilary too.
4. She is a very talented dancer. When you will watch her dance, you won’t be able to believe that an introvert and quiet girl like her can dance with such grace and beauty (Again, one’s talents should never be judged by his/her external features). She is also expert in household chores, specially, in cooking. Although Hilary is her elder sister, she learns cooking from Dew-chan and takes tips from her. Dew-chan also wholeheartedly teaches her big sis.
5. She is quite average in her academics unlike Hilary, yet, English and Drawing are her favorite courses.
6. She is very emotional and cannot hold her tears when she’s hurt by something/someone. For Tyson Granger, God knows how many beads of tears she has shed. Being quite sensitive, she has to be dealt with very carefully. (Although why would someone misbehave with her or hurt her? She’s such a cutie!!! 🥺🥺).
7. In most of the times when she’s engaged into a conversation with Tyson, she remains silent and listens to the blader very carefully. Sometimes, Tyson has to ask her, “Are you okay, Dew?” or “Have you got my words?” and she simply nods.
8. One of her favorite tasks is to maintain a diary where she writes about Tyson, Tyson and only Tyson. How much she loves him and cares for him, what she likes about him, how she imagines them to be, etc etc...
9. She always remains a little worried for her closest people-specially Tyson and Hilary.
10. But sometimes, she can be very brave too. She is always very cool-tempered and when she adds her bravery with it (Only sometimes), she does such tasks that nobody can imagine ever.
11. In my supernatural/fantasy/spiritual fics, she is blessed with a miraculous power: To heal different types of poisons.
So...how’s Dew-chan? Did you like her?

A river of blood: Promo
"Hiwatari! He's a traitor. Despite having the blood of Japan, Kai Hiwatari has joined the Russians. He has taught the Russians our techniques, given them knowledge about our traditional weapons and how to defend against them! He is the main reason behind our two consecutive defeats! Once I catch him, I'll shatter his ribs with these bare hands and take sips of his blood! Otherwise, I cannot enjoy a single wink of sleep!"
"Forgive me, Kai, forgive me. I am the daughter of late Emperor Hayashi Tachibana, the offspring of the valiant son of Japan who was mercilessly killed by the Tatars. Between you and me, there lies the grave of my father. Wading it, how'll I reach you? How'll I hold your hand? How?"
"The guy who'll leave this camp with you won't be me. He'll be another traitor. He'll be the corpse of Kai Hiwatari."
"Kai has chosen the right way. What else could a hero like him do?"
"I know for whom your eyes run and roam like a restless deer, Takao."
"Tala? Or...Yuri? Whoever you are, for me, your name is only 'Beloved'."
"In this river of blood, she was only a droplet. Yet, the fire burning in my heart just can't evaporate it."

Zenith and Nadir: Promo 1
The dual-haired Russian, dressed in complete black suit and creating contrast with his only white signature scarf around his neck, that he’d used to wear before a long time, was leaning his head against the plush, white velvet couch amidst the living room. His right leg was lifted on his left thigh, in a cross-position and arms were spread, propping against the headboard of the sofa. Amethyst eyes were placed forward, not blinking or moving a single millimeter from the target. Between the index and middle fingers of his right hand, there was a branded cigarette, still burning and emitting white smokes, dancing in the nothingness of the environment, spreading its lavish, spoiled-rich aroma everywhere, teasing the noses of the people present.
In front of him, on a broken, torn-leathered, black chair, the navy-haired ex-blader was tied, with the ropes to the handles and legs of it, around his wrists and ankles. Through the tattered portions of his red jacket, the figments of his yellow undershirt could be seen. Navy-blue bangs were ruffled, the ponytail was loosened. His tanned skin was bearing a lot of cuts and scrapes in different places. Chest was still bandaged, covering the wound from which he was still recovering. His auburns caught the vicious amethyst flames glowing in the eye sockets of his best friend, or say, ex-friend. What did he want from him? Why did he capture him like this?
Getting a silent nod from his master, one of the bodyguards, clad in black jumpsuit and mask, handed a photograph to the navy-haired guy as it was the turn of the dragoon-wielder to be more surprised. Black and white it was, showing the two-dimensional figure of a floating fetus on its obscure background. Lifting his shivering eyes, he somehow managed to ask, “K...Kai...what’s this?”
“Your nephew...” The Russian gritted his teeth, forcing the stinging tears back and making his eyes look arid, “Whom you killed with your own hands, Tyson.”
The eyes of the blunette went widened in shock, he gasped, the photograph fell on the floor from his quivering hand.
................................................................................................................................
What are you thinking, dear folk? Is Kai lying? Or did Tyson really do it? Is Tyson innocent? Or not?
“Zenith and Nadir”, a five-shot crime-thriller, maybe, set in the canon world. Coming...(Don’t know when *Looks away*)

Zenith and Nadir: Promo 2
The navy-haired dragoon-wielder stood baffled, immobile, discovering her purple-haired, secret, love interest and chocolate-haired co-worker facing each other, pointing the respective desert eagle and 9mm pistol at the foreheads of each other. Both their eyes were showering sheer hatred for their respective target, for the person who was standing at the second end of their gunpoint. None of their hands were shaking a tad. Determined, fixed they were-along with their determination and abhorrence. He gulped, witnessing the intense rivalry between the ladies and stepped back, trying his best not to interfere. However, he wasn’t ignored by either of them.
“Tyson,” Hilary cleared her throat, not removing her eyes from the purplette, “She’s a murderer.”
“Tyson, she’s after us!” Dew’s voice quivered, “She’s...she’s one of them!”
“Back off Granger!” The brunette churned, “It’s your duty as a detective.”
“Duty?” The purplette chuckled, “Well, that’s the best you can do.”
Tyson was at a loss. What could he do? What should he do?

Two world, one story
“Brother, are you losing your heart to the fire-princess? Don’t forget that we’re water, totally opposite to fire. There can be only one relation between Kaen and Hiawatha. That’s of hatred, that’s of enmity!”
- Hiromi Tachibana, the empress of Hiwatha Kingdom.
“Stop being so restless, Takao! Don’t you know what happens when fire becomes restless?! Destruction!”
-Kai Hiwatari, the emperor of Kaen Kingdom.
“No, princess Salima, it’s not the time to shed tears. Now, it’s the time of our siblings to realize what they have actually done.”
-Ray Kon, the commander-in-chief of Hiwatha.
“If another life vanishes forever from Kaen, I promise, brother, I myself will jump in the heart of Pacific! Even you, the mighty Kai Hiwatari won’t be able to save me!”
-Salima, the princess of Kaen.
“Let me jump through the cascade, princess Dew, though I’m from Kaen Kingdom. Thus, I’ll get the peace of being closer to you forever.”
-Takao, the commander-in-chief of Kaen.
“Maybe...*Sobs* we’re....leaving this earth forever. But...even if *Sobs* rebirth exists, we won’t....*Cries* return here...until...two different worlds compose one common story!”
-Dew, the princess of Hiwatha.

Be a tigress: Promo
“Hil....” Heaving a sigh, he entered the chamber with a plate of sliced apples and guavas, “You haven’t eaten anything for the last two days. Please, have this. Otherwise, you’ll fall ill.”
Stopping for a while, the dragoon-wielder whispered, eyeing the brunette whose head was still buried amidst her folded knees and hands wrapped around them, “You know, Kai would never like it if he saw it.”
When the name of her no-more crush was mentioned, she raised her head with a jolt and glared at her best friend. Though there were no tears in her ruby eyes, they were bloodshot-just like a pair of flames. Messy chocolate locks were splayed on her back, ruffled on her forehead and cheeks. Gritting her teeth, she got down from the bed. Tyson screwed his brows. Was she recovering from the trauma?
“Clung!”
However, before he could conclude anything, the brunette snatched the plate from his hand and threw it away. Before the widened eyes of the world-champ, it got shattered in quite a few pieces after colliding with the tiled ground of the room, the silced fruits scattered everywhere on the floor. Tyson was shocked, not understanding what happened to her all of a sudden. He assumed that Hilary couldn’t come out from her depression which was caused by Kai’s death. He was trying to approach her but stopped, seeing a stretched palm of her before his eyes.
“Never dare utter his name with your tongue!” Hilary’s eyes roared, “Don’t come near me, Tyson Granger! I cannot bear the sight of the killer of Kai Hiwatari before my eyes!”
Tyson froze, stepping back. What...what did she just tell? Tyson Granger, the killer of Kai Hiwatari? How? When did he kill him? Rather, he’d tried to save the phoenix-prince when the latter had been hanging from the cliff, hadn’t he?
“What the hell are you saying, Hils?” The navy-haired blader yelled, “It’s not the truth! Why will I kill Kai? It...it was just a mistake...I...I admit that I...failed to save Kai but....”
“Enough!” The brunette scowled, “No need to make excuses! I-I know it far well that it was only you who conspired Kai’s murder and arranged everything so that nobody could see your true face. What? What was your problem with Kai, Tyson? Only because he kept leaving you? But he returned to you whenever and wherever you needed him, didn’t he? Why did you only remember his faults, not his contributions, Tyson? How could you be so selfish?!”
“I-didn’t-murder-him!” The blunette gritted his jaw, “Listen to me carefully, Hilary Tachibana, I am not the murderer of Kai Hiwatari!”
“You know, the voice of the criminal is always high,” The chcolate-haired girl chewed air in her mouth, “No need to justify yourself. If you don’t want to bathe in your own blood, just leave the room!”
“You cannot blame me only because I failed to save Kai....” Tyson bit his lips helplessly.
“But I can surely blame you that these all things were conspired only by you!” Hilary pointed a finger at him, “To the rest of the world, only Kai Hiwatari, the captain of Bladebreakers is dead. But in the eyes of Hilary Tachibana, there are two people who are no more. One is....Kai Hiwatari....”
Her tone shivered to utter the name, eyes welled but in the next second, voice got acidic, “Another is Tyson Granger!”
“Shut up, Hilary, shut up!!!” Tyson pressed his ears, shutting his eyes and almost kneeling down on the floor.
“Why? Now my voice hurts your ears, doesn’t it?” Hilary aimed at the open door, “Just leave my room, Tyson. I don’t want to see your face right there!”
Lifting his lowered head, Tyson blankly looked at the eyes of the brunette. No, not a single bit of mercy was present there. Quickly standing up and turning back, wiping his tears furiously with his elbow, he strode out of the room, unable to digest the words of his best friend.
...................
What? Is Hilary speaking the truth? Or Tyson is innocent here? What happened to Kai by the way?
“Be a tigress”, a Hilary-centered five-shot. Coming....I don’t know when.

Zenith and Nadir: A snippet
“Stop!” From behind a building, the navy-haired dragoon-wielder came out, hurrying towards the women, “Wait a bit!”
Hilary turned her bloodshot eyes to her childhood friend as well as colleague, “Stay out of my case, Tyson. Stay away from it for your own good. You’ve already lost your right to interfere! Don’t degrade yourself and your post more by trying to save this murderer. Doing this, you’ll only make it worse!”
“Tyson…” Dew gulped, raising both her arms in the air and dropping the silver handgun, “She’s one of them. She’s here to kill me.”
“I’m only doing my duty as a professional investigator,” Hilary’s jaw became tightened, “She’s a fugitive murder suspect. I’m taking her in. She resists, she gets shot.”
“Hilary…” Tyson calmly breathed, “Listen to me once. The matter isn’t like how you’re thinking to be. Of course, you can do whatever you want to do with her. But before it, I need her for solving my case, to find out the root of Fireflies. I have to know who are managing this notorious terrorist gang. She can help us in this. Once we’re done, you can arrest her but for now, she’s important.”
“Don’t need to provoke me with your words, former world-champ,” The brunette simpered bitterly, “I know it far well that you have an illegal, secret, dirty romantic affair with this sly woman. After what you have done to us and our investigation team, we can never have faith on you. You know how you have disgraced our department by this heinous act? The people of this country are failing to trust us! All these things have happened only for you! Now, just go away if you don’t want to stoop lower!”
“Easy!” Tyson came in front of Dew and covered her.
“Back off, Granger!” His brunette co-worker scowled viciously.
Tyson sighed, clenching his teeth out of desperation and pressing his forehead. Dew was shivering, swallowing hard. Of course, she was afraid of death but more than it, she was scared-of the safety of her secret crush. She knew it far well that it would be very easy for the terrorists to find Tyson out and to kill him if she were behind the bars once again. Hilary smirked at both of them, knowing their motives and thoughts far well. She didn’t care whether she could get shot or not at the spot by the brunette; she slid her hand into her pocket and brought out another handgun from there.
“No, Dew!” Tyson firmly shook his head and turned to his colleague again, only to see her fingers loosely placed on the trigger. His eyes went wide in pure shock, “Hilary!”
“BANG!”
“Aaah!”
.............
Who shot actually? Dew? or Hilary? And who got shot? One of the ladies? Or...Tyson himself?
Stay tuned for tomorrow, it’s coming!
