Tuft has made it clear sheâs willing to lace her boots back up and re-debut â not as the âmonster of a maleâ she says she once was, but as a trans athlete who loves her body." If he really wants to show he's not a "monster of a male" he would only go against oppents who went through male puberty. Or switch to the other wrestling company that does have TIM performers.
BY SAMANTHA RIEDEL December 8, 2023
Former pro wrestler Gabbi Tuft says she wants to return to a WWE ring âvery shortlyâ and face one of the companyâs biggest stars, two years after publicly coming out as transgender.
Tuft, who underwent open-heart surgery in 2019, revealed to TV Insider she recently stepped between the ropes for the first time in over a decade while visiting a training school owned by industry veteran Dustin Rhodes (formerly known as Goldust). âSince I did that there has been a huge resurgence and feeling for what I love,â Tuft said, adding that she was actively seeking medical clearance to compete once more.
âI said to my doctor, âHey, review my scans. Am I clear to go wrestle if I want?ââ Tuft said. âIâm hoping to hear back from [them] this week to see if Iâm a hundred percent clear. If thatâs the case, very shortly I may resume training.â
In her original run with WWE from 2008 to 2012, Tuft wrestled under the moniker âTyler Reks,â a troublemaking villain or âheelâ who played a reliable foil to the companyâs heroes. As Reks, Tuft faced off against numerous high-profile male stars of the era, some of whom are still active in WWE, like Kofi Kingston, The Usos, and (somehow) CM Punk. In her comments to TV Insider, Tuft praised one potential future opponent whoâs rocketed to wrestling fame and Sapphic adoration over the past few years: Rhea Ripley.
Ripley, the current Womenâs World Champion and resident leather-clad demoness of the âJudgement Dayâ team, has become a huge breakout star over the past few years, appealing especially to queer wrestling fans who dig black lipstick and shoulders. (It helps that calling her âmamiâ and/or âpapiâ is, according to WWEâs storytelling, canonically appropriate.) Ripley âis such a force in WWE. She is powerful,â Tufts told TV Insider. âTo be honest, when I look at her and her athleticism and tenacity, I see a phenomenal opponent. A phenomenal match in the making.â
Elsewhere in the interview, Tuft praised fellow trans wrestlers Nyla Rose and Gisele Shaw, who perform in All Elite Wrestling and Impact Wrestling (soon to be rebranded TNA, again) respectively. âI love Nyla and Gisele [....] Itâs incredible to see them part of the womenâs division,â Tuft said, hinting she feels âlike there is a spot there for WWEâ to finally introduce an out trans wrestler.
âYou havenât seen it there yet. Itâs raising questions as to why. Are they waiting for the right opportunity?â Tuft wondered. âItâs definitely a question in my mind. Maybe someday there is someone who can fill that hole very soon.â
Although WWE has yet to feature an openly trans or nonbinary wrestler on TV (and no, âSantinaâ and other comic-relief drag characters donât count), the company has slowly opened its doors to queer authenticity, both in and out of the ring. WWE wrestler Steffanie âTegan Noxâ Newell came out as bisexual in 2020, followed by ring announcer Kayla Braxton the next year, while lesbian star Daria âSonya DeVilleâ Berenato got engaged to her âride or dieâ partner this February. (Kimberly âPiper Nevinâ Benson made a coming-out post in 2019, but has since deleted it and hasnât discussed her sexuality since.) And while WWEâs stories about gay relationships can get, uh, messy, Tuft is right to point out that the company could just hire a trans wrestler and let them wrestle, much as AEW has with Nyla Rose.
Whenever WWE is ready, Tuft has made it clear sheâs willing to lace her boots back up and re-debut â not as the âmonster of a maleâ she says she once was, but as a trans athlete who loves her body.
â[T]he day I stopped caring about what other people thought, was the day I truly became limitless,â Tuft wrote in her 2021 coming-out post. Alas, âlimitlessâ is already taken as a wrestling catchphrase, but if Tuft does get cleared for an in-ring return, weâll be first in line to get her merch regardless.

Need I remind you that it was CM Punk who twisted the events at All In and said that he calmly approached Jack and said âhe didnât punch anybodyâ or how it was Punk who leaked to Fiteful saying that Jack pushed and bumped Punk first and Punk retaliated with a chokehold? He waited until Jack calmly put his hands in his hair to throw a punch. Jack backed up. Then Punk grabbed Jackâs hair in order to put him in a headlock ie not a sleeper. Jack stepped out. And then Punk threw more punches before Joe, Hook, Hero, and the ref grabbed them both. Shit lasted a couple seconds. But not before Punk lunged at Tony and knocked over monitors. And no, this was not the incident that made Tony fear for his life. That happened after Punkâs match with Samoa Joe.
Jack Perry did nothing wrong.
Like it was Punk who leaked that story to Nick Hausman about the story regarding real glass to save face after he went on another tangent to burry Hangman Adam Page. That is why Jack was mad. He leaked a story that made Jack look bad so Punk could make himself look better. In hindsight, I am starting to believe it was Punk that was spreading stories about AEW like wildfire to the press. Before Punk, there were rarely any leaks that didnât involve Sammy Guevara. Itâs no wonder that since then, no story has been leaked. No locker room gossip. Nothing.
Punk was a condescending piece of shit in a company built on the idea that the type of hierarchy where top guys like Cena threatening Gabbi Tuft, then Tyler Reks. That is why Hangman broke script to begin with and what that promo was about. Punk kept needling at everyone backstage and bring a piece of shit. And Page saw the culture change with Punk openly disrespecting his peers and pushing people off of AEW like Colt Cabana and using his position to get his way.
Now Iâm questioning Brawl Out. I starting to think that the Elite didnât kick down that door and start that fight. Now I think hotheaded and paranoid Punk escalated that confrontation after the Elite went to his locker room. If Punk has shown those little tendencies to twist a story in his favor like saying Jack bumped into him or confronted him or threw the first punch or was condescending to him when we were just shown footage that it was Punk who did it, I am starting to think Punk was always the problem. In fact, him getting ousted from WWE the first time is starting to make sense. Punk is a carny piece of shit with a fragile ego.
Tony should have not punished Jack at all. He should have fired Punk from the jump.
Should the footage have been shown? Yes. Punk is a fucking lying narcissist who prides himself on being the realest yet he,under the guise of being some guiding veteran, tried to sabotage Perryâs career and reputation. For months, Jack has been made out like some little bitch and all he did was back away and let some 40+ year old man throw a tantrum. The Scapegoat moniker makes sense. Maybe they should have released it online.
They didnât mention Punk once. The Bucks have been referencing Jack for weeks now since they started this EVP gimmick. Their angle was to accuse FTR of only beating them at All In because of what happened with Jack while redeeming Jack and welcoming him into the Elite. Thatâs the story. At the same time, it was petty. Will this convince Pepsiman diehards? No.
And this had nothing to do with WWE. It had to do with a former disgruntled employee who lied. Good fucking riddance.
That being said, this show was uncharacteristically mid. The Jerichoverse should die and Mox, Page, Oâ Reilly, Thunder Rosa, or fucking someone should have had a ten minute match. The card was disappointing overall.
But regardless, we can stop creating fanfic about this stupid overblown event. If Punk were anyone else, he would have been blackballed from wrestling along with Teddy Hart. There is no excuse for attacking your fellow employee. If it were anyone else, Punk would have been arrested for assault.
Still would have preferred to see a Takeshita match.

Looking for Teen Wolf mutuals.
I am big on Scott/Tyler Posey, Isaac/Daniel Sharman, Sceo, Scisaac and Disaac.
I would also prefer to avoid St*rek.
Other than that I just wana gush and overanalise and fuel the inspo for my writings.

So for an outsider who's just watching 911 without really engaging in the fandom and who likes Tommy and Lou (your blog is the only one I follow) how bad is the fandom about Tommy right now? Like, is it St3rek bad? Or is it a loud minority? I'm just not getting their outrage.
Assuming this means your primary point of reference is Teen Wolf fandom: itâs about the level of how toxic St*rek fans (who were also a small minority in the TW fandom) treated Braeden, just replace âbed warmerâ with âplot deviceâ itâs not quite How They Treated Tyler Posey levels yet.

Gabbi Tuft's Journey from Tyler Reks to WWE's First Openly Transgender Star
Three years ago, a pivotal moment unfolded in Gabbi Tuftâs life. She publicly announced herself as transgender, making history as the first WWE member to do so. Before this, she was widely recognized as the wrestler Tyler Reks. Now Gabbi aims to demonstrate to others that they donât need to pay attention to how others perceive them. She wants to convey to people that it is never too late toâŠ

And like of COURSE we know why people are still insistent that Tyler is Actually Straight. Because the entire justification for a decade of hate for the man hinges on him disliking St*rek. If he hates it as a straight man then heâs Just Homophobic but if he hates it as a queer man then the foundational argument of how Sterek would be So Good for Representation (keep in mind this was 2014) falls apart and they canât have that! So, naturally, they have to âproveâ his Kinsey 0 status at all costs. Itâs just impressive that theyâre still at it after 9 years.

Gabbi says she first began realizing she identified as a woman when she was a kid -- telling "Extra" she would sneak into her mom's closet and try on her clothes. "And, it just felt right," Gabbi told Billy Bush in an interview that airs Friday.
During the interview, Gabbi also opens up about how her romantic life with her wife has changed since transitioning from a man to a woman ... explaining how the situation has actually brought them closer together.
A former WWE superstar is going public about her gender transformation -- announcing, "This is me. Unashamed, unabashedly me."
The wrestler is Gabbi Tuft -- who performed for years under the ring name, Tyler Reks. Reks first appeared on "Smackdown" in 2010 and went on to wrestle with some of the top names in the biz, including John Cena, CM Punk and Ryback. Reks last wrestled for WWE in 2012.
Now, Tuft -- who previously used the name, Gabe Tuft, in her personal life -- says she's going public as a proud transgender woman.
"This is the side of me that has hidden in the shadows, afraid and fearful of what the world would think; afraid of what my family, friends, and followers would say or do," Tuft said in an emotional IG post.
"I am no longer afraid and I am no longer fearful. I can now say with confidence, that I love myself for WHO I am."
Tuft says she's been struggling over the past 8 months -- "The emotional turmoil of being transgender and having to face the world has almost ended me on multiple occasions."
But, Gabbi says she stopped caring about what other people think -- which has allowed her "authentic self to come into the light."
Gabbi has been married to her wife, Priscilla, since 2002 and they have a 9-year-old daughter together. Tuft says her family is supporting her through the transition.
The man had a successful career, in a man's sport, is married to a woman and has a 9 year old daughter and now he's a woman. The kid is 9 years old, it's the job of the parent to support the kids as they develop their own identities it's not the kids job to validate the parents identit.
