As someone who finished this game recently I feel obligated to point out that if you look close at the full art of the Elestra cover thing the other MCs also resemble other people.

The other guy is like, very clearly Beat, meanwhile the girl is I thiiiiiiink Coco? I haven't played the first game so that's the best guess I have here. Either way. Wanted to add this to the discussion.

Obviously, the most important mystery in Neo: The World Ends With You is why there is a seemingly random dating sim gacha game character who bears an uncanny resemblance to Sho Minamimoto.

Here are my theories, ranked from least to most funny.

It's a complete coincidence. Sho Minamimoto, for reasons unknown even to Angels, just happens to have the face of a conventionally attractive man. Deeply cursed.

Minamimoto's just collected enough ambient Vibes that he can passively affect the RG, similar to the trend mechanics, and this is simply how it manifests. You wear enough D+B in the afterlife, people start wearing it in the real world. You get your head crushed by a vending machine thrown by a local death god, you get a video game character designed off you.

Someone deliberately Imprinted the game designer with Minamimoto's face when they were making characters. Why anyone would want to do this is also a mystery, but a different one.

Neku wearing that hat caused some really weird side effects.

Some bystander saw Minamimoto's failed shooting of Joshua in Udagawa, and his swagless homicidal attempts and actively bleeding gunshot wound captivated them utterly, and they went straight home that night and started drafting up a dating simulator.

The results are in, the numbers have been crunched! Xion COULD survive the Reaper's Game! Seems like she's one of those "has been through a heck of lot but can and will go through a heck of a lot more if necessary" types. Not always the best player candidates, but certainly interesting ones! And Xion in particular is a delight, watching the simulation of her in Week 2 specifically was VERY interesting indeed.

...Random question, my red-threaded friend, but you wouldn't have happened to play KHIII yet have you? No reason, I'm just asking...

Hmm... Upon further examination of "what the heck is going on in Kingdom Hearts" I have reached the conclusion that yes, Xion does count as human. There's probably some really complex nuance there but it is NOT my job to care, the simulation will still run it fine!
