Some of the scholars described good character as the person having
a lot of shyness, little harm, a lot of good, truthful speech, speaking only a little, a lot of actions, few sins,
little in the way of extravagance, kindness and maintaining the ties, dignity and patience, content and gratitude,
forbearance and gentleness, chastity and compassion;
he is not one who curses or insults, carries tales or backbites, nor is he hasty or hateful, stingy or envious;
he is cheerful and courteous, he loves for the sake of Allāh, he is pleased for the sake of Allāh, and he hates for the sake of Allāh.

Emphasis of Good Character and Manners in Islam
Islam is not just a set of rituals or beliefs; it is a comprehensive way of life that emphasises the importance of good character and manners. The teachings of Islam, as conveyed through the Quran and Hadith collections, provide invaluable guidance on how to conduct oneself with integrity, kindness, and compassion.
The Prophet Muhammed said: “Nothing is heavier upon the scale of good deeds on the day or judgement than Good character, truly Allah hates the vulgar and the obscene.”
Good character and manners hold a central place in Islam, reflecting the inner beauty of a person’s heart. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasised the significance of good character, stating,
“The best among you are those who have the best manners and character” (Sahih Bukhari).
Islam encourages its followers to be kind and compassionate towards all beings, whether human or animal.
There is no Muslim who plants a tree or sows seeds and then a bird, or a person, or an animal eats from it except that it is regarded as a charity for him. “ — Sahih Bukhari
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Kindness is a mark of faith, and whoever is not kind has no faith” (Sahih Muslim).
This teaching showcases the importance of showing mercy and empathy in all interactions as well as being a good caretaker of our earth we share with other creatures of God.
Respect for Others
Respect for others, regardless of their background or beliefs, is a fundamental principle in Islam. The Quran instructs Muslims to “speak to people kindly” (Quran 2:83) and to “repel evil with that which is better” (Quran 41:34), promoting an understanding and harmonious society.
“You have your way, and I have my Way.” Quran 109:6
Honesty and Integrity
Honesty and integrity are highly valued virtues in Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise” (Sahih Muslim, Book 1, Hadith 79). Muslims are encouraged to be truthful in their words and actions, even when faced with challenges or difficulties.
“The honest and trustworthy merchant will be with the prophets, the truthful, and the martyrs.” Sunan al-Tirmidhī 1209
Prophet Muhammed (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm.” (Narrated by Ibn Majah, 2340)
He also said: “By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, no one of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself of good.”
Patience and Forbearance
Patience and forbearance are qualities that Islam encourages its followers to cultivate. The Quran describes the believers as those who “restrain anger and pardon people” (Quran 3:134) and advises, “Be patient over what befalls you” (Quran 31:17). Through patience, Muslims learn to navigate life’s trials with grace and resilience, having faith and certainty that whatever bad befalls a believer, through patience and perseverence, good will come out of that test.
“We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and loss of property, life, and crops. Give good news to those who patiently endure..” Quran 2:155
Humility and Modesty
Humility and modesty are characteristics that Islam promotes as essential for spiritual growth. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever humbles himself for the sake of Allah, Allah will elevate him” (Sahih Muslim, Book 32, Hadith 6264). Humility allows individuals to recognise their own shortcomings and seek improvement with sincerity.
The emphasis on good character and manners in Islam, as reflected in the Hadith collections and Quranic verses, serves as a beacon of guidance for Muslims seeking to embody the teachings of their faith and emulating the character of the best man to walk the Earth. By practicing kindness, compassion, respect, honesty, patience, and humility, Muslims strive to fulfil their role as ambassadors of Islam, contributing to a more harmonious and strong community with good family and societal ties.

Daily Portions by Joseph Philpot
"Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith." – Hebrews 12:2
No one can ever run the race set before him, except by looking unto Jesus. He is at the head of the race; he stands at the goal; holding the crown of victory in his hand, which he puts upon the head of the successful runner. And we can only run on as we view Jesus by the eye of faith at the right hand of the Father opening his blessed arms to receive us into his own bosom at the end of the race. Nor indeed can any one really look to him but by the special gift and grace of God.
He must be revealed to the soul by the power of God; we must behold his glorious Godhead and his suffering manhood by the eye of faith; and we must view him as the incarnate God; the only Mediator between God and man. We must see the efficacy of his atoning blood to purge a guilty conscience; the blessedness of his obedience to justify a needy, naked soul; the sweetness of his dying love as an inward balm and cordial against all the thousand ills and sorrows of life. We must see his glory, as the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth; his suitability to every need and woe; his infinite compassion to the vilest and worst of sinners; his wondrous patient forbearance of our sins and backslidings; his unchanging love, stronger than death itself; his readiness to hear; his willingness to bless; and his ability to save to the uttermost all who come unto God by him.
Thus the heavenly runner looks not to the course however long, nor to the ground however rough, not to his own exertions however multiplied, nor to his own strength whether much or little; nor to applauding friends nor condemning foes; but wholly and solely to the incarnate Son of God. Jesus draws him onward with his invincible grace. Every glance of his beauteous Person renews the flame of holy love; every sight of his blood and righteousness kindles desires to experience more of their efficacy and blessedness; and every touch of his sacred finger melts the heart into conformity to his suffering image. This is the life of a Christian -- day by day, to be running a race for eternity; and as speeding onward to a heavenly goal, to manifest his sincerity and earnestness by continually breathing forth the yearnings of his soul after divine realities, and to be pressing forward more and more toward the Lord Jesus Christ, as giving him a heavenly crown when he has finished his course with joy.

“Many times He delivered them, but they were rebellious in their purposes and were brought low through their iniquity. Nevertheless, He looked upon their distress when He heard their cry. For their sake, He remembered His covenant, and relented according to the abundance of His steadfast love. He caused them to be pitied by all who held them captive.”
— Psalm 106:43-46
~~~~~
Undeserved Deliverance
By Jennifer Kane
Faithfulness amid rebellion
God’s unwavering faithfulness shines even when we stray.
How amazing that He so often extends mercy,
Despite our endless cycles of failure and rebellion.
Though we turn from Him, He never turns from us,
Holding out His hand as we fall again and again.
A covenant love which endures
His steadfast love and commitment are beyond measure,
Unshaken by our unfaithfulness,
Unmoved by our weakness.
God remembers His promises, firm and unfailing,
An anchor in a world of drifting hearts.
The divine patience
How wondrous is the patience of God,
Who waits with open arms for us to return,
Enduring our wandering with tender forbearance,
Outlasting every shadowed path we tread away from Him.
Hope for the rebellious heart
For the soul that feels lost, for the heart far from grace,
There is hope, a light unwavering in the darkest depths.
His love and mercy reach beyond our sin-stained walls,
No distance can sever the bridge of His compassion.
God’s relentless pursuit,
God does not abandon; He does not let go.
What beauty, what wonder in love that pursues,
That heals, forgives, and draws us near again,
Even in the face of our resistance,
His voice calls softly, “Come home.”
His steadfast love in the depths
When we’ve reached the lowest valleys,
When darkness seems our only companion,
There, in the depths, His steadfast love finds us,
Wrapping us in mercy, restoring our brokenness,
For His love meets us—even at rock bottom,
And lifts us, undeserving, into His embrace.
~~~~~
This passage from Psalm 106 captures a profound truth about God’s character: His unfailing mercy even in the face of repeated human failure. The psalmist recounts Israel’s history, showing how time and again, despite God’s continual deliverance, they turned away in rebellion. Each time they fell, God allowed them to experience the consequences of their choices. Yet, even then, God did not abandon them.
The word “nevertheless” is a beautiful hinge in this passage. It marks the turning point from judgment to mercy. Despite Israel’s unfaithfulness, God’s response was compassion. When they cried out to Him in their affliction, He remembered His covenant with them, not because they deserved it, but because He is faithful to His promises.
As the passage reminds us, while Israel often forgot their covenant, God did not. His memory is not limited by human failings, nor is His mercy bound by our mistakes. God’s love and mercy are so vast that, even in His judgment, He makes a way for restoration.
Moreover, God didn’t just forgive them—He moved the hearts of other nations to show kindness to His people in exile. This kindness from unlikely sources was a sign of God’s grace, a reminder that even in foreign lands, He watched over them.
Take a moment to consider areas in your own life where you may have felt distant from God. Are there patterns of rebellion or ingratitude that have pulled you away? Like Israel, we may experience consequences when we stray from God, but His mercy invites us back, nevertheless.
Pray today, acknowledging areas where you need God’s mercy, and remember that His compassion is greater than any failure. Then, as you go about your day, look for unexpected ways God may be working to show you kindness and draw you back to His loving presence.
~~~~~
Heavenly Father,
How grateful we are for Your unwavering love and faithfulness. We confess that too often, like Israel, we have wandered from Your ways. We’ve allowed our hearts to drift, led astray by our own desires and weakness. Yet, Lord, You remain our anchor, steady and unchanging, even when we turn from You.
Thank You, Lord, for the mercy that defies our failings, for the grace that finds us in our darkest places. You see beyond our rebellion, beyond our ingratitude, and offer us a way back through Your compassion. Teach us to rest in Your covenant love, to hold fast to the promises that You remember even when we forget.
Today, we ask for forgiveness for the times we have chosen our own path instead of Yours. We humbly bring before You the patterns of rebellion and ingratitude that have led us away from Your presence. Help us to release these things, Lord, and to turn back toward You, trusting in Your mercy and kindness.
Draw us near, O God. Show us how You are at work in our lives, even in the unexpected places. Open our hearts to recognize Your hand reaching out, calling us back, “Come home.” May we find peace and hope in Your presence once again, knowing that You have never abandoned us, even in our failures.
In Jesus' name, we pray,
Amen.
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. - Colossians 3:12-13 KJV
What should we, who are believers and followers of Jesus Christ look like? The answer is above. It is not easy to be a Christian. We try to be humble and kind, not proud or arrogant, to have compassion for others, and to keep going when it's hard. The forgiving part is more difficult.
Christ forgave us, who are sinners. Jesus forgave those who were nailing Him to the cross. We sometimes don't want to forgive people in our own families! Lack of forgiveness causes problems in families, neighborhoods, communities and nations. Even when we try to do the right thing, someone can be hurt. How many others turn their lack of forgiveness to the undeserved! Neighborhoods can be split because someone takes the side of the innocent; whole groups of people can be targeted because of the actions of a few. Jesus Christ died on the cross for the guilty and the innocent. He did not judge. We are called to forgive those who sin against us if we want God to forgive us, exactly as it is written throughout the Holy Bible. We need to remember this as we pray to God as well as the LORD's Prayer daily.
Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for His mercy and grace. May we all accept Him and His eternal gift of salvation and ask that He would transform our hearts and lives and give us a new direction according to His will and ways. Thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for His Holy Spirit who saves, seals and leads us. May we always thank Father God Almighty and the LORD Jesus Christ for His almighty power and saving grace. For He is our strength, and He alone is able to save us, forgive our sins and gift us eternal salvation and entry into His Kingdom of Heaven.
May we make sure that we give our hearts and lives to God and take time to seek and praise Him and share His Truth with the world daily. May the LORD our God and Father in Heaven help us to stay diligent and obedient and help us to guard our hearts in Him and His Holy Word daily. May He help us to remain faithful and full of excitement to do our duty to Him and for His glorious return and our reunion in Heaven as well as all that awaits us there. May we never forget to thank the LORD our God and our Creator and Father in Heaven for all this and everything He does and has done for us! May we never forget who He is, nor forget who we are in Christ and that God is always with us! What a mighty God we serve! What a Savior this is! What a wonderful Lord, God, Savior and King we have in Jesus Christ! What a loving Father we have found in Almighty God! What a wonderful God we serve! His will be done!
Thanks and glory be to God! Blessed be the name of the LORD! Hallelujah and Amen!
(via Non-Judgmental Mercy Is A Godly Quality)
Non-Judgmental Mercy Is A Godly Quality
https://www.unitedbyprayer.com/united-by-prayer-wall/non-judgmental-mercy-is-a-godly-quality
The Lord does not demonstrate any bias towards or against anyone because of their outward appearance or magnetic personality. He does not favor someone on the basis of their status nor does He show disfavor because of ones lack, and neither should we. Hosea reminds us that the Lord desires mercy from His people and our attitude towards others should reflect the beautiful characteristic of mercy, forbearance, tender-heartedness, and kindness that the Lord has shown to us. Non-Judgmental Mercy Is A Godly Quality in which the Lord delights, and every believer should seek to be merciful. While those that are merciful will receive mercy, this verse is a somber reminder that those who lack mercy, by exhibiting prejudice against their fellow man and discriminating against their neighbor, will have no mercy shown to them. May we be those that seek to be holy, knowing that God is holy. May we grow in grace and in a knowledge of our Lord and Savior so that we may become more like Jesus Who is full of compassion and of great mercy. May we be men and women who triumph over the old sin nature, with its judgmental tendencies and its propensity to discriminate against others that do not fit with our fallen sin nature. May we walk in spirit and truth so that we may extend mercy to all with whom we come in contact for the glory of God and for our eternal benefit. There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others.
But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.
Our United Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your loving mercy toward us in that while we are yet sinners, Christ died for us. As we go about our days in this world that is full of so many judgmental attitudes and actions, may we show forth Your love and mercy to those around us so that they would see Christ in us, to Your praise and glory. In Jesus' name we Pray, AMEN.
🍃🌺🍃 Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) 🍃🌺🍃
🍃🌺🍃 Biography 🍃🌺🍃
Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) belongs to the noblest family to have existed throughout the history of mankind. Her distinguished father, Prophet Muhammad (saw), was the very last messenger of Allah (SWT), a personality that the Noble Qur’an introduce as the Best Paradigm. The mother of Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) was a pure noble lady named Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (sa), a godly woman with unparalleled virtues and merits, who dedicated all her life and wealth to Islam. Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) is the wife of the Leader of all Believers, Ameerul Momineen, Ali ibn Abi Talib (as), mother of the Masters of the youths of heaven (Syed-e-Shabab-e-Ahlul Jannah) and grandmother of the other nine Imams of Islam. Her name is as beautiful and as peaceful as the garden of heaven.
Her other names are: Zahra, Seddiqah, Tahirah, Mubarakah, Batool, Radiah, Mardiah and Muhaddathah. The word Fatimah means separated. She is named Fatimah because her followers are separated from Hell because of her. Zahra means luminous. The sixth Imam, Imam Sadiq (as) said: “When Fatimah prayed, she shined for the heavens as the stars shine for people on earth.” Seddiqah means someone who says nothing except the truth. Tahirah means pure and clean; Mubarakah means full of favour and blessing; Batool means separated from uncleanliness; Radiah means satisfied with Allah’s (SWT) fate and destiny and Mardiah means laudable. Muhaddathah means the one spoken to by angels.
The following are some of her titles: Ensiah (heavenly lady), Haniah (sympathetic), Shahidah (martyr), Afifah (chaste), Sabirah (patient), Alimah (learned), Madhloomah (oppressed), Ma’soomah (infallible), Umm al-Hassan (mother of Hassan), Umm al-Hussain (mother of Hussain), Umm al-A’immah (mother of Imams) and Umme Abiha. Umme Abiha means mother of her father. Prophet Muhammad (saw) gave her this title showing that Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) treated Prophet Muhammad (saw) as his mother. This fact was proved throughout the history as she cured her father during the wars as well as other cases.
According to the Islamic Calendar, Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) was born in Makkah on the 20th day of the Islamic Lunar calendar month, Jumada Al-Thani (615 AD).
🍃 Her Ethical Attributes: 🍃
Fatima al-Zahra (as) inherited the genius and wisdom, the determination and will-power, the piety and sanctity, the generosity and benevolence, the devotion and worship of Allah, the self-sacrifice and hospitality, the forbearance and patience, and the knowledge and nobility of disposition of her illustrious father, both in words and deeds. “I often witnessed my mother,” says Imam Hussain, “absorbed in prayer from dusk to dawn.” Her generosity and compassion for the poor was such that no destitute or beggar ever returned from her door unattended.
🍃 Moral Virtue and Simplicity 🍃
Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) lived in a two room house made out of clay, wore the simplest garments, grinded wheat and barley with her bare hands to prepare meal for her family, and attended to her four children with utmost love and mercy. Yet, she was no ordinary woman. Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) had the highest moral virtues and her life was full of spiritual behaviour. Even on her marriage day, Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) did not forget about those in need. A girl’s wedding dress is probably one of her most cherished belongings however, in the case of the noble Lady Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) it was not.
The Prophet of Islam, Mohammed (saw) bought Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) a new dress for her marriage ceremony. Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) owned a patchy dress before this. A poor woman came to her house and asked for clothes. Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) remembered the verse: “By no means shall you attain to righteousness until you spend (benevolently) out of what you love.” (Noble Qur’an, 3:92) So she gave her the new wedding dress, while she wore her old dress to her wedding, following the teachings on the Noble Qur’an, the lessons of selfless love and helping those in need.
🍃 Sayings of Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) 🍃
🍃~The book of Allah is the guide of its followers towards the pleasure of Allah. Listening to it carefully leads to salvation. The enlightened and conspicuous evidences and proofs of Allah can be obtained through it. Also the knowledge of His (Allah swt) interpreted intentions, fear invoking constraining prohibitions, His sufficing testimonies, conspicuous arguments, desired virtues, allowed endowments and obligatory divine laws (can be obtained from it)[1]
🍃~Allah made the faith for you as a purity from polytheism (and infidelity)[2]
🍃~And (made) service the cause of your getting distant (purification) from pride (egoism)[3]
🍃~And rendered alms for the purity of your soul and flourish and expansion of your sustenance [4]
🍃~And rendered fasting for the maintenance and firmness of your sincerity[5]
🍃The Importance of Fatima (sa) 🍃
Without Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) there is no Islam. Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) is a role model who set an illustration of the highest morals and eloquence. We should aim to imitate her chastity; we should look at her as a source of inspiration. If we live in the west we should have the courage to wear the hijab despite the social pressures as we are making Fatima al-Zahra (sa), Mistress of All Women, proud. When helping others and giving charity we should remember her generosity. Fatima Al-Zahra (sa) is, and should be, the inspiration of all women and should be emulated. She was exactly like her father, Prophet Mohammad, and we too should strive to be like her. We should learn from her honesty, modesty and loyalty.
Love the appearance of all who seem momentarily to stand in opposition to these ennobling ideas of Justice, Order, and Truth!
As you stand upwards in allegiance to Truth and Love, so shall you becometh Truth and Love in thine personal expression and experience.
Pray for those who react against Order and Justice, and who seem to persecute these ideas!
In this way of understanding and acceptance and tolerance and the eternal patience of long-standing, you are cultivating a nature alike unto the Originating Persona.
Ye shall grow thine inner righteousness of character by your ethical forbearance and thine patient capacities for unconditionally loving all, allowing all, becoming the Christos who stands firmly upon Truth Everlasting, and yet allows the evolutionary appearance to adjust unto Truth over time, personality effort, and the presence of Unconditional Love.
Be thou the expression of Existence .. the Acting Presence of the First Persona who is Living Compassion and Everlasting Mercy.
As the true children of our First and Only Paradise Father in heaven . . .
For He gives his sunlight to both the unrighteous and the righteous .. the confused and the clear-sighted .. the rebellious and the obedient ones.
He sends the rain of His Glory upon the just and the unjust alike; giving every creature the opportunity to find their way to Him.
For the One Persona Original is the Way and the Truth and the Life of all, in all, pervading all, acting within all by providing the sustenance and substance of His Life.
ISLAM 101: Creation: Part 5
Why Does the Qur’an Not Discuss Scientific Issues That Concern Us Today?
The Qur’an was revealed for specific purposes: to make us aware of the Creator, to affirm that He is known through His creation, to direct us to belief and worship, and to order individual and collective life so that we attain real happiness here and in the Hereafter. The Qur’an deals with each subject according to the importance attached to it by God.
Given the above reasons, the Qur’an is comprehensive. This can be seen by the countless books and commentaries written about its various aspects. The perfection of its style and eloquence has been attested to by the greatest Muslim literary masters of every century, and has inspired them to excellence not only in Arabic but also in other Islamic languages. By basing themselves on Islam, Muslim scholars of humanity or the physical world have been able to comprehend the real nature of things and events. Through the Qur’an’s wisdom, psychologists and sociologists have resolved the thorniest problems related to individual or collective affairs. Moralists and pedagogues have turned to the Qur’an as an infinite, inexhaustible resource for educating future generations.
Today, many people want to know what the Qur’an says about scientific and technological matters, and how it relates to modern positive sciences. Many books have been written on this subject. They have tried to relate Qur’anic truths to advances in scientific knowledge. Many of these books were influenced by the culture and science of their time. But despite the care and pains expended on these commentaries, people doubt their accuracy and find them over-elaborate and far-fetched. In particular, efforts to make Qur’anic truths correspond to particular scientific hypotheses appear to distort, misrepresent, and even slight the Qur’an.
When explaining the Qur’an, we must be objective and remain faithful to its precision, soundness, and clarity. Instead of interpreting it in the light of certain phenomena and a non-Qur’anic specialist language, everything should be interpreted and evaluated in the Qur’anic context. Of course, the Qur’an is best understood by a nuanced knowledge of Arabic’s vocabulary and grammatical rules, and the occasions of the verse’s revelation. Thus the best understanding and interpretation is that of the Companions, then of the Successors (the following generation), and then of the first commentators, such as Ibn Jarir. These, and not the later ones, are the most in accord with scientific truths established later on.
We offer several examples from the Qur’an to illustrate the argument.
• The Omnipotent Creator says that the future will be the age of knowledge and information, and thus, as a natural consequence, of faith and belief: Soon We shall show them Our signs on the furthest horizons, and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is true. Is it not enough that your Lord witnesses all things? (41:53)
From the earliest days of Islam, Sufis accepted and referred to this verse as a sign and assurance of the spiritual wisdom they sought. However, reading this verse from the viewpoint of scientific progress, its mere existence will be seen to be a miracle.
Everything within the compass of our thinking and research affirms the Creator’s Oneness, as the true nature and interrelationship of microcosm and macrocosm are further disclosed and better understood. When we see hundreds of books on this subject, we understand that what was Divinely revealed is near to being proved. Even now we feel that soon we shall hear and be able to understand the testimonies and praises to God through thousands of tongues belonging to nature: The seven Heavens and the Earth, and all things therein, declare His Glory. There is not a thing but celebrates His praise. And yet you do not understand how they declare His Glory. Truly He is Oft-Forbearing, Most Forgiving (17:44).
This verse tells us that all parts of creation speak to us, in the language of their being, of their submission to and glorification of the One God. However, very few people can hear and understand this universal praise. The sincere Muslims who will bring all people to hear this praise is also few, dispersed, and feeble.
• What the Qur’an reveals about an embryo’s formation and developmental phases in the uterus is striking: O mankind! If you have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a lump of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (what We will) to you… (22:5)
In another verse, the development is explained in greater detail, and the distinct phases are emphasized more clearly:
We created man from a quintessence (of clay). Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in a place of rest, firmly fixed. Then we made the sperm into a clot of congealed blood. Then of that clot, We made a lump (embryo); then we made out of that lump bones and clothed the bones with flesh. Then We developed out of it a new (distinct, individual) creature (23:12–14)
And
He makes you in the wombs of your mothers in stages, one after another, in three veils of darkness … (39:6)
These three veils of darkness can now be glossed in detail: the parametrium, myometrium, and the endometrium are three tissues enveloping three water-, heat-, and light-proof membranes (the amnion, chorion and the wall of the womb).
• What the Qur’an says about milk and its production: And verily in cattle (too) will you find an instructive sign. From what is from their bodies, between excretions and blood, We produce, for your drink, milk, pure and agreeable to those who drink it (16:66).
The Qur’an narrates the process in remarkable detail: the partial digestion of food and its absorption, followed by a second process and refinement in the glands. Milk is wholesome and agreeable for people, yet it is a secretion rejected by the cow’s body and bloodstream as useless.
• The Qur’an reveals that all things in nature are created in pairs: Glory be to God, who created in pairs all things, of what the soil produces, and of themselves, and of what they know not (36:36).
Thus everything has a counterpart, whether opposite to it or complementary. This is obvious in the case of people, animals, and certain plants. But, what about the pairs in all things … and of what they know not? This may refer to a whole range of inanimate as well as animate entities, subtle forces, and principles of nature. Modern scientific instruments confirm that everything does occur in pairs.
• The Qur’an recounts, in its own unique idiom, the first creation of the world and its inhabitants: Do not the unbelievers see that the Heavens and the Earth were joined together (as a single mass) before We clove them asunder? We made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe? (21:30).
The Qur’anic account is clear and should not be mixed with the different creation hypotheses put forward by others. It states that every living thing was created of water. The Qur’an does not concern itself with how this unique source of life came into being, but with the fact that the universe is a single miracle of creation. Everything in it is an integral part of that miracle, bears signs that prove it, and is interconnected. The verse emphasizes the vitality and significance of water, which constitutes three-quarters of the mass of most living bodies.
• The sun has a special and significant place in creation. The Qur’an reveals its most important aspects in just four words: And the sun runs its course (mustaqarr) determined for it. That is His decree, the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing (36:38).
In fact, mustaqarr here may mean a determined route in space, a fixed place of rest or dwelling, or a determined route in time. We are told that the sun has a specific orbit and that it moves toward a particular point in the universe. Our solar system, as we now know, is moving toward the constellation Lyra at an almost inconceivable speed (every second we come ten miles closer to that constellation, almost a million miles a day). We also are told that when the sun has finished its appointed task, it will abide by a command and come to rest.
Such words were spoken at a time when people generally believed that the sun made a daily circuit around the Earth.
• Another four-word inspiring and eloquent Qur’anic verse says that the universe is expanding: And the firmament: We constructed it with power and skill, and We are expanding it (51:47–48).
This verse reveals that the distance between celestial bodies is increasing, for the universe is expanding. In 1922, the astronomer Hubble claimed that all galaxies, except the five closest to Earth, are moving further into space at a speed directly proportional to their distance from Earth. Thus, a galaxy one million light-years away are moving away at a speed of 168 km/year, one-two million light-years away at twice that speed, and so on. Le Maître, a Belgian mathematician and priest, later proposed and developed the theory that the universe is expanding. No matter how we express this reality, the Qur’an clearly presents the reality of this expansion.
• The Qur’an indicates various laws of physics, such as attraction and repulsion, rotation and revolution in the universe: God raised the heavens without any pillars that you can see… (13:2)
All celestial bodies move in order, balance, and harmony. They are held and supported in this order by pillars invisible to our eyes. Some of these “pillars” are repulsion or centrifugal force: … He holds back the sky from falling on earth except by His leave… (22:65).
From this verse, we understand that the heavenly bodies may at any moment collapse on the Earth, but that the All-Mighty does not allow it. This is an instance of the universal obedience to His Word, which in the language of contemporary science is explained as a balance of centripetal and centrifugal forces.
• Qur’anic commentators have considered one verse as a reference to traveling to the moon, which is now a reality: By the moon’s fullness! You shall surely travel from stage to stage (84:18–19).
Some earlier commentators understood this verse figuratively, as a reference to one’s spiritual life considered as an ascent from one stage to the next, or as a general process of change from one state to another. Later on, Qur’anic interpreters tried to explain it in non-literal terms, for the literal meaning did not agree with what they “knew” about actually traveling such a distance. But in fact, the more appropriate sense of the words following the oath (By the moon!), given the verse’s immediate context, is that of really traveling to the moon, whether literally or figuratively.
• The Qur’anic account of the Earth’s geographical shape and change in that shape are particularly interesting: Do they not see how We gradually shrink the land from its outlying borders? Is it then they who will be victors? (21:44)
The reference to shrinking from its borders could relate to the now-known fact that the Earth is compressed at the poles, rather than to such earlier believed ideas as the erosion of mountains by wind and rain, of the sea-shores by the sea, or of the desert’s encroachment of cultivated lands.
At a time when people generally believed that the Earth was flat and stationary, the Qur’an explicitly and implicitly revealed in several verses that it is round. More unexpectedly still, it tells us that its precise shape is more like an ostrich egg than a sphere: After that, He shaped the earth like an egg, whence He caused to spring forth the water thereof, and the pasture thereof (79:30–32).
The Arabic verb daha means “to shape like an egg.” The derived noun dahia is still used to mean “an egg.” Some interpreters, who might have viewed it as contrary to what they “knew,” misunderstood the meaning as “stretched out,” perhaps fearing that the literal meaning might be difficult to understand and so misleading. Modern scientists have established that the Earth is shaped more like an egg than a perfect sphere, that there is a slight flattening around the poles and a slight curving around the equator.
• As a final example, consider what the Qur’an says about the sun and the moon: We have made the night and the day as two signs; the sign of the night We have obscured, while the sign of the day We have made to enlighten you… (17:12)
According to Ibn ‘Abbas, the sign of the night refers to the moon and the sign of the day to the sun. Therefore, from the words the sign of the night We have obscured, we understand that the moon once emitted light and that God took its light from it, thereby causing it to darken or become obscured. While the verse thus accurately recounts the moon’s past, it points to the future destiny of other heavenly bodies.
Many other Qur’anic verses are related to scientific facts. Their existence indicates that our quest for knowledge is a portion of Divine Mercy graciously bestowed upon us by our Creator. Indeed, Divine Mercy is one of the Qur’an’s names for itself, and all that it contains truth and knowledge is beyond our ability to relate or to hold in our minds.
We must remember, however, that while the Qur’an contains allusions to many scientific truths, it is not a science textbook. It is a book of guidance leading humanity to right belief and right action so that we may be worthy of Divine Mercy and Forgiveness. Muslims must ensure that the pursuit of scientific and other types of knowledge is guided by the light of the Qur’an, which so encourages and supports it, and not by the spirit of arrogance, insolence, and vainglory. The latter path, that of unbelievers, leads only to the mind’s desolation, our own degradation and that of the Earth, our temporary home entrusted to us by God.
1st Chronicles 16:34, and what it means to all People!! By Anthony Joseph Hopkins July 27, 2024
1st Chronicles 16:34 says O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth forever. I give thanks unto the Lord on a daily basis. What is the definition of the word mercy? Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. So, to me, mercy is a “love that responds to human need in an unexpected or unmerited way.” At its core, mercy is forgiveness.
The Bible speaks of God's love for sinners – that is, for all of us. But the Bible also relates mercy to other qualities beyond love and forgiveness. Mercy is also compassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an offender, an enemy, or other person in one's power; compassion, pity, or benevolence: Have mercy on the poor sinner. the disposition to be compassionate or forbearing: an adversary wholly without mercy. What is the difference between kindness and mercy? Kindness is a quality of being generous and considerate to someone, and mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom is within someone's harm.
Next, mercy consist of forgiveness that is shown towards someone who is harmed. Anyway, back to the subject at hand. 1st Chronicles 16:34 is very true. His mercy endures forever. This is the truth because God is always around for all of us. God is merciful and forgiving. God is the center of my life at this time. God continues to love me, and accept me for who I am. God loves all of us. He knew us from the time that we were inside of our mother’s womb.
Further, the Lord has been good to me for the past 59 years. The Lord God has been by my side; even when I might have forsaken him myself. You see, God wants me to change the way I talk to myself. Whenever we get to the point in life that when we feel depressed and sad, God wants all of us to enjoy a life filled with Him.
For the past 59 years, I have managed to enjoy God’s goodness, even when I was rebellious. My grandparents and mother sent me to church for a reason. My parents wanted me to be filled with the Spirit. My parents wanted me to become a God-Fearing Man. By becoming a God-Fearing Man, I would become Christlike. I will admit that I did what other rebellious children were doing. I also admitted that I have a conscious.
Finally, I want to inform everyone that I used to associate myself with street gang members for 18 years. Even though, I attended church on a regular basis. I still had a problem with my mouth. The tongue is a consuming fire. The tongue defiles a man. What comes out of man when he is defiled is murder, rape, robbery, fornication, and a bitter heart. God remained close to me.
I want to inform all of you that grief lives in the past. Grace looks forward to the past. Grace liberates, and grief incarcerates. The Holy Spirit is inside of us. Goodness and mercy shall follow me all of the days of my life, and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever. The Lord is good for all of those who continues to obey him. God, grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change, please Lord gives me the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Just for today!! God loves you, and I love all of you for the rest of my entire life. God Bless You!!
Perfect
My dad always taught that to be a “perfect” Christian meant to be mature, but I always wondered what it took to be a mature or perfect Christian. James chapter 3 says we must be able to bridle the whole body to be a “perfect man”. Here is my anagram for what it takes to be a perfect christian. You must be:
P – Peaceable
E – Equitable
R - Respectful
F – Forthright
E – Easy to be intreated
C – Compassionate
T – Tamer of the tongue
So, what does all that mean and how do I accomplish it?
Peaceable is defined as “inclined to avoid argument or conflict”. The Bible says that blessings and cursing should not come out of the same mouth. Am I willing to put aside my own pride to avoid conflict or arguments? That applies to in my marriage as well as with other people. Ouch! I might be able to say I do that with people outside my home but if I look inside my home and how I interact with my husband I am not so sure I can claim that one. Colossians 3:13 says: “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”
Equitable is defined as “dealing fairly and equally with all concerned. The Bible says without partiality. The world throws out the term equity quite a bit, but they define it as treating others differently and often unfairly so that everyone can appear to be equal. Do I treat people differently based on their appearance, the way they act or based on what Church they attend? When we have visitors in church, do I greet them all the same? Am I willing to witness to all people, or do I pick and choose who I feel is “worthy”. I Timothy 1:15 says: “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came int the world to save sinners; of whom I am the chief.”
Respectful is defined as “show due regard to someone’s feelings, wishes, rights or traditions” The Bible says let him show his works with meekness and wisdom. Do I show respect to others, or do I feel I am more important, that my feelings and wants matter more? Do I believe that just because I do it one way everyone should do the same? Do I look down on others for not “behaving” in a certain way? Philippians 2:3 says: “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Forthright is defined as “without subtlety or evasion”. The Bible says without hypocrisy. Do my actions match my words? Do I judge others without first looking at myself? Are my words and actions truthful or are they tainted with untruth or deception? Do I truly love others or am I faking it? James 1:26 says: “If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.”
Easy to be intreated is defined as easily asked, not stubborn or sour, easy to deal with. Ouch! Am I easy to deal with? Don’t answer that! 😊 Can people come to me with their questions about Jesus or do I make them feel stupid for asking? Am I willing to hear others and understand their thoughts and feelings or am I too stubborn in my own ways. Yesterday’s sermon talked about having our tank full of joy, am I full of joy or am I sour? I Peter 3:4 says: “but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”
Compassionate is defined as having sympathy or concern for the suffering or misfortunes of others. The Bible says full of mercy and good fruits. My husband says I only have one day of sympathy in me every time he has a surgery and needs taken care of so not sure I have this one mastered. Am I consumed by my own troubles and ailments, or do I care about the suffering of others, and I mean care enough to actually put action to that concern? I can care but not take action, but I believe having compassion requires action. I John 3:17 says: “But whoso hath this word’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
Tamer of the tongue is a hard one. In fact, James 3:8 says the tongue can no man tame, it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Have I tamed my tongue? Do I say negative things about other people? Do I gossip? My mother used to always say, “if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all”. Do I speak kindly to my spouse? Do I make sure the words coming out of my mouth would be please to God? Does my tongue snap back instead of replying softly? Maybe I should try silence more often. I Peter 3:10-11 says: “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace and ensue it.
I can honestly say that before I started this study I felt like I was a mature Christian but now I see I still have so much work to do. I guess that is the greatest thing about our God is that he gives us grace and forgiveness where we fail. Even Paul said he pressed toward the mark. So don’t give up, keep pushing forward. If God has given us a goal to achieve, He has also made it possible to accomplish it. When we aren’t perfect we can rest in the knowledge that He is. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says: “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
RHAPSODY OF REALITIES DAILY DEVOTIONAL
COMPASSION—A STRONG DESIRE TO REMOVE PAIN
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 8TH 2023
But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth (Psalm 86:15).
PASTOR CHRIS OYAKHILOME
Notice that the Bible didn’t say God has compassion, which would also have been wonderful, but it says God is full of compassion. What’s compassion?
Compassion means to recognize or to become aware of the sufferings of another with a desire to alleviate that suffering. That’s what makes it different from sympathy. To sympathize with someone means to identify with someone in his suffering or pain. That doesn’t mean the sympathizer is going to or able to do anything about the person’s suffering.
Compassion is also different from mercy, which is forbearance shown especially to an offender or to someone you have the right or power to punish. But compassion has a strong desire to remove the pain. If there’s no desire to take away the suffering, then it’s not compassion.
So, when the Bible says God is full of compassion, it means He looks at you and recognizes what you may be going through with a desire to change the situation. Hallelujah! The Bible says we have a high priest who is touched with the feeling of our infirmities (Hebrews 4:15).
Psalm 145:8 says, “The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” God is loaded with compassion; He’s never mad at you. Rather, He’s always moved with a desire to bless you, help you, and change your situation.
PRAYER
Gracious Father, you’re full of compassion and abounding in mercy and truth. Thank you, for your compassion knows no bounds, and l’m grateful for your unwavering love and care. That same compassion is ignited within me to recognize the sufferings of others; I’m moved with a burning desire to alleviate their pain and make a positive difference in their lives through the Word and by your Spirit, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
FURTHER STUDY:Psalm 78:38 But he, [being] full of compassion, forgave [their] iniquity, and destroyed [them] not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
Psalm 111:4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD [is] gracious and full of compassion.
Matthew 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
*Jesus will Make You Gentle*
🪴📈📈📈📈📈📈📈📈🌴
When people hear gentleness, they immediately think about personality.
Some are born gentle and others are simply brash.
But nothing could be further from the truth.
Gentleness is a fruit of the spirit.
When you become born again, God works gentleness in you and expects you to work it out.
Need evidence?
_"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, *gentleness* and self-control. Against such things there is no law" (Galatians 5:22-23)._
_"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, *gentleness* and patience" (Colossians 3:12)._
One more?
_"Let your *gentleness* be evident to all. The Lord is near" (Philippians 4:5)._
But what is this gentleness?
Gentleness is actually a combination of many virtues.
A gentle person is patient and doesn't react unseemly.
A gentle person is kind with their words and actions.
A gentle person is mild-mannered. Nothing moves them, and they never overeact!
Be gentle today!
Shocking Revelation: Federal Charges Against US Residents for Bribing to Target Banned Spiritual Practice in China
Shocking Revelation: Federal Charges Against US Residents for Bribing to Target Banned Spiritual Practice in China Shocking Revelation: Federal Charges Against US Residents for Bribing to Target Banned Spiritual Practice in China The world has been shaken by the shocking revelation that several US residents and businesspeople have been charged by the federal authorities for bribing government officials in China to crack down on Falun Gong, a spiritual practice that has been banned in China. This illegal operation has been ongoing for over a decade, and those involved are facing severe consequences for their actions. The Charges and Accusations The US Department of Justice recently revealed that five US residents and two companies have been charged with violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) by bribing officials in China. The US government alleges that these people paid bribes to Chinese officials to gather information about Falun Gong practitioners, track their whereabouts, and disrupt their peaceful protests and activities. The accused have been charged with numerous crimes, including conspiracy to violate the FCPA, money laundering, and conspiracy to commit visa fraud. These charges carry heavy penalties, including imprisonment and hefty fines. The US government is seeking the extradition of four of the accused from several countries, including Argentina and the Philippines. The Banned Spiritual Practice Falun Gong is a spiritual practice that originated in China in the late 1990s. Its teachings are based on the principles of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance, and it seeks to improve physical and mental health through its exercises and meditation practices. However, the Chinese government has banned the practice since 1999, claiming that it is a threat to national security and social stability. The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners Since the ban, Falun Gong practitioners have faced intense persecution in China. Thousands have been arrested, detained, and subjected to torture and forced labor. Many have died as a result of the mistreatment they received in detention centers and labor camps. The Chinese government has also implemented a massive propaganda campaign demonizing Falun Gong practitioners and portraying them as a dangerous cult. The government has used this campaign to justify the persecution and mistreatment of practitioners. The Role of the Accused The US residents and businesspeople charged with bribery allegedly played a significant role in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. They provided financial bribes and other illicit incentives to Chinese officials to obtain information about practitioners and harass them. The US government alleges that the defendants viewed their actions as a means to curry favor with the Chinese government, gain access to lucrative business deals, and maintain their status in China. However, their actions have caused irreparable harm to countless Falun Gong practitioners and their families.
