So today we’re doing Yoongi’s chart and my analysis of it. Let me make it clear right off the bat, that since I’m not a professional astrologer, some things may not match up, further since we’re not super sure of his birth time, it’ll definitely affect the reading. What I can be sure of is that I’ll do my best and I’m completely open to constructive criticism from you all!

Now lets get on with some basic stuff, for those who have not yet read the post with Namjoon’s moon analysis, I’ll again reiterate some principles of Vedic astrology! In the scenario that you’re still confused with all this jargon, feel free to reach out and I’ll be more than happy to help you out.

Starting out, we have to note that while western astrology is usually more advisory in nature, Vedic astrology’s main purpose is to predict. Also, we usually go a sign back from western astrology (24’ back to be more precise) in Vedic astrology, so according to that for example, if you’re a libra rising, you become a virgo rising in Vedic astrology and so on and so forth. All planets will also shift back a sign, so a Capricorn Mercury will become a Sagittarius Mercury.

Now let’s be aware that the chart may be a bit different, but given the main d1 (Lagna) chart remains the same for about 2 hours, let’s focus on that and the moon chart (rashi chart) for this reading. Getting on with the reading, we firstly see that he’s born under Pisces lagna, this makes the native calm and collected, as well as fond of philosophy and psychology. What we often forget is, people born under Pisces are said to have been born under all the other signs in their past life, and cumulatively they use their skills and knowledge from those lives in their current one. He represents the liberation from illusions and attainment of spiritual enlightenment and knowledge. The natives of this Nakshatra here embody these qualities of their deities. Given that in this chart, Venus is his 3rd and 8th lord, we can make further deductions. Firstly, since 3rd lord is going 11 houses away, its an extremely auspicious placement here. Since the third house also represents courage and valor, this can make someone very fearless and say whats on their mind bluntly. Since the 3rd house is part of the Kama Trikon houses (houses of desire), this going into the 1st house, which is a part of the Dharma Trikon houses (houses of morality), gives interesting results here. Now with the 8th house, we have a bit of a conundrum here honestly. It belongs to 2 types of houses, the moksha trikona houses (houses of salvation) as well as the Dushtana houses (evil houses). While this placement isn’t all that bad, it isn’t he best either. firstly though, this is a placement where the native always wins over their enemies (8th lord 6 houses away from itself), be it enemies as in people, or simply obstacles in their life. This also confers a long lifespan to people, given that his 8th lord is also exalted here. However such people are prone to accidents, given that the 1st house is the body, 8th house is sudden events and the natural 8th ruler mars is a karka or signifactor of vehicles. Such people are also against organized forms of religions, since the Dushtana lord is sitting in a dharma house. The native is also extremely private and secretive given the 1st house of self has the 8th lord of secrets sitting in it. Since it also aspects the 7th house of other people, this person has that aura of mystery about them because of this. Now coming to his aspects. His Venus is aspected by moon, Jupiter and Rahu. The first two are benefic in nature and the latter is malefic. Moon-Venus and Jupiter-Venus are also mutually aspecting each other in pairs here. Moon here gives Venus the property of being constantly cynical of themselves regards to what others may perceive them as, given moon is emotion and the 7th house here is other people. Rahu’s aspect on the other hand, makes someone stand out in a crowd (Rahu signifies an outcast), they may have a rough and cold exterior due to this. They may also have had issues with body image (1st house is self), or mental health here. These people are enamored by all things foreign, and love exploring the other cultures. They may have issues identifying with their own community at large, and may identify with the downtrodden of the society.

Now going to Jupiter and moon conjunction in the 7th house. I wont go very deep into this, as its a super interesting concept, and it’ll be better covered in the second part of the reading regarding the moon itself, so ill keep it short and related to the ascendant. Also the mutual aspect part will be explained in more detail in the miscellaneous section later. Plus this is getting far too long for even me now.

Getting on with the reading for now, moon and Jupiter here are in virgo, in a loose conjunction (one is at approximately 2’ and the other at 18’). This is actually one of the not very yogas (combinations)in a chart, about 15% of people have these. Its called the Gaj-Kesari yoga (the elephant and lion combination), because people with this are so extremely lucky, its like the kings of the jungle are together to support it. They have the wisdom of the elephant and the courage of a lion. This is a raj yoga (royal combination). a native born with Gaj-Kesari Yoga is intelligent, strong, and prosperous. Gaj or Elephant possesses immense strength and is devoid of pride and the Lion is known for his foresight and skillful intelligence as well as his strength, quickness, skillful leadership, ability and courage. Thus, when Gaj-Kesari Yoga is formed then that person is extremely successful. They will be a kind and philanthropic person, who will always have sympathy for others. They will be quite humble regarding work, would like to talk nicely to people and aim to attain spiritual progress in life. Many people will recognize them as their mentor or guide and will act according to their instructions or advice. They may have a tendency attracting people and people being magnetized by them. They will be blessed with abundant wealth and become the owner of movable and immovable property(cars as well as homes). They will establish relationships with rich and reputed people of the society and enjoy all kinds of material pleasures in life.

Since this occurs in virgo, it makes a person intelligent, sharp and gifts them with amazing memory power. Such a person is knowledgeable and can become the head of a large educational institution. He may own incomparable wealth and can earn a good name and money from business as well. Often such people earn a high reputation in the Stock Market and make progress in life by working in any financial institution or insurance sectors.

Here jupiter in particular makes someone extremely cynical in nature, and their mind is always, and I mean always, thinking about romantic relationships or platonic ones. However given that jupiter is also the 10th lord here, they could be extremely focused on work too. Their life is surrounded by contracts, and may work with others for a living(7th house is house of courts and partnership). They could be very interested in the financial sector here, they could be extremely money minded and money means stability to them. Moon here on the other hand makes the person very moody, and extremely dependent on their spouse or colleagues. Since it rules the fifth house here, it signifies that such people are extremely creative in their work, may work for children or young adults, have a lot of past life karma related to work, and also that they’re extremely devoted lovers. They tend to criticize their close friends and loved ones, just because they’re so cynical and blunt, and want the absolute best for people. They may hurt people’s feeling without realizing it sometimes. (this was very brief but refer to point 12)

Now coming to Saturn in 12th, as the lord of the birth nakshatra. Saturn over here signifies working in the fields of music, but given saturn represents electronics, it could mean a producer too. Since its in Aquarius here, a sign of dual lordship, this resents a constant up and down of mood and life spirit. The person with such a placement is confused with what truly makes them happy in life, the spiritual realm or the materialistic realm. They keep going up and down the path of being spiritual, till 36 years (saturn matters at 36). They may face a lot of mental disorders here. They may have trouble sleeping at night. Given saturn is also work, they may earn through foreign sources in life. Such a person invests money into properties (saturn is houses) and lacks liquid cash. The person may have a weak left eye (12th house is left eye). They may earn from multiple sources in life, and have multiple talents. They usually have a very beautiful smile, and can literally attract people with it (again the snake like quality). They tend to have a very blank look usually, and if you ever notice, they’ll have the most stunning eyelashes actually, given the yoni is the female cow. They might also have the habit of moving their mouth around when their thinking, quite like ruminating.

Given venus sits here, is gives the person very attractive, effeminate features. Think extremely renaissance type of soft features. It can give them very delicate hands and feet with such a placement. The moon aspect here, gives them a rounded face and pale skin. They might have sparkly eyes and a roundish appearance here, also the tendency to gain weight around their face, with short necks. They make also look much younger than their actual age.The jupiter aspect again makes the native very other worldly looking, almost like you can imagine them in a dark robe literally performing rituals. It gives people a calm and teacher type of vibe to them. The rahu aspect usually just blows qualities out of proportion. Have you seen how small and angelic suga looks compared to the other? Zuo Ran and my itinerary had an additional sense of mission tacked on.

We recorded every cost during our trip and diligently inspected the amount indicated on each electronic receipt.

MC: Sure enough, there’s an issue! Lawyer Zuo, look…

MC: On the bill for the waterbus we were just on, there’s an additional 30% service fee.

MC: There are also additional costs of unknown sources on the speedboat receipt.

Zuo Ran: And there are additional costs on the waterside restaurant receipt.

How Does a Rectifier Work?

Rectifier, device that converts alternating electric current into direct current. It may be an electron tube (either a vacuum or a gaseous type), vibrator, solid-state device, or mechanical device. Direct current is necessary for the operation of many devices such as laptop computers, televisions, and certain power tools.

If only one polarity of an alternating current is used to produce a pulsating direct current, the process is called half-wave rectification. When both polarities are used, producing a continuous train of pulses, the process is called full-wave rectification.

You may wonder how power lines send electric currents across long distances for different purposes. And there are different "types" of electricity. The electricity that powers electric railway systems may not be appropriate for household appliances like phones and television sets. Rectifiers help by converting between these different types of electricity.

Bridge Rectifier and Rectifier Diode

AC DC rectifier lets you convert from alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). AC is current that switches between flowing backwards and forwards at regular intervals while DC flows in a single direction. They generally rely on a bridge rectifier or a rectifier diode.

All rectifiers use P-N junctions, semiconductor devices that let electric current flow in only a single direction from the formation of p-type semiconductors with n-type semiconductors. The "p" side has an excess of holes (locations where there are no electrons) so it is positively charged. The "n" side is negatively charged with electrons in their outer shells.

Many circuits with this technology are built with a bridge rectifier. Bridge rectifiers convert AC to DC using its system of diodes made of a semiconductor material in either a half wave method that rectifiers one direction of the AC signal or a full wave method that rectifies both directions of the input AC.

Semiconductors are materials that let current flow because they're made of metals like gallium or metalloids like silicon that are contaminated with materials like phosphorous as a means of controlling current. You can use a bridge rectifier for different applications for a wide range of currents.

Bridge rectifiers also have the advantage of outputting more voltage and power than other rectifiers. Despite these benefits, bridge rectifiers suffer from having to use four diodes with the extra diodes compared to other rectifiers, causing a voltage drop that decreases the output voltage.

Silicon and Germanium Diodes

Scientists and engineers generally use silicon more frequently than germanium in creating diodes. Silicon p-n junctions work more effectively at higher temperatures than germanium ones. Silicon semiconductors let electric current flow more easily and can be created with lower costs.

These diodes take advantage of the p-n junction to convert AC to DC as a sort of electric "switch" that lets current flow in either the forward or reverse direction based on the p-n junction direction. Forward biased diodes let current continue to flow while reverse biased diodes block it. This is what causes silicon diodes to have a forward voltage of about 0.7 volts so that they only lets current flow if it's more than volts. For germanium diodes, the forward voltage is 0.3 volts.

The anode terminal of a battery, electrode or other voltage source where oxidization occurs in a circuit, supplies the the holes to the cathode of a diode in forming the p-n junction. In contrast, the cathode of a voltage source, where reduction occurs, provides the electrons that are sent to the anode of the diode.

Half Wave Rectifier Circuit

You can study how half wave rectifiers are connected in circuits to understand how they work. Half wave rectifiers switch between being forward biased and reverse biased based on the positive or negative half cycle of the input AC wave. It sends this signal to a load resistor such that the current flowing through the resistor is proportional to voltage.

You can measure the voltage across the load resistor as the supply voltage Vs, which is equal to the output DC voltage Vout. The resistance associated with this voltage also depends on the diode of the circuit itself. Then, the rectifier circuit switches to being reverse biased in which it takes the negative half cycle of the input AC signal. In this case, no current flows through the diode or the circuit and the output voltage drops to 0. The output current is, then, unidirectional.

Full wave rectifiers, in contrast, use the entire cycle (with positive and negative half cycles) of the input AC signal. The four diodes in a full wave rectifier circuit are arranged such that, when the AC signal input is positive, the current flows across the diode from D1 to the load resistance and back to the AC source through D2. When the AC signal is negative, the current takes the D3-load-D4 path instead. The load resistance also outputs the DC voltage from the full wave rectifier.

The average voltage value of a full wave rectifier is twice that of a half wave rectifier, and the root mean squared voltage, a method of measuring AC voltage, of a full wave rectifier is √2 times that of a half wave rectifier.

Rectifier Components and Applications

Most of the electronic appliances in your household use AC, but some devices like laptops convert this current to DC before using it. Most laptops use a type of Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) that lets the output DC voltage more power for the size, cost and weight of the adapter.

SMPS work using a rectifier, oscillator and filter that control pulse width modulation (a method of reducing the power of an electric signal), voltage and current. The oscillator is an AC signal source from which you can determine amplitude of current and the direction it flows. Terrible Customer Service from American Express & Emirates Airlines!

To Whom It May Concern,

My family and I had three tickets for flights departing from DFW on January 13, 2018 at 11:25AM. On January 12, 2018 my dad seemed unable to go due to his deteriorating health. He has Parkinson's and was in too much pain and discomfort to make the flight. We decided to cancel the trip. I called American Express Travel (1-800-297-2977) to begin the cancellation process.

My first phone call was on January 12, 2018 at 11:37 PM and it was for seven minutes. The lady on the phone told me I will need to pay $300 to change my flight, plus the difference in cost between the flight and a $39 fee. She also told me the tickets were nonrefundable and that for the other two tickets I do not change, I will completely lose that money. Also, that we needed to book the new flight prior to when our original flight took off. I told her I will call her back because I needed to speak to the rest of the family about when to change our tickets.

I called American Express Travel again on January 13, 2018 at 12:24 AM and then again at 12:26 AM (this call lasted 43 minutes) and I spoke with a lady named Sheila. I explained the situation again and she put me on hold while she figured it out with Emirates airline. She proceeded to tell me the same information with regards to the cost of changing the tickets but with one major difference- I will be allowed to change my flight till the evening of January 13, 2018. I believe this allowed me more time to figure out a flight that works for everyone plus I was in touch with the travel agency in Egypt (we had booked tours on there). I wanted to hear how I could apply my tour credit for a later date. I also told her I wanted to cancel all the flights. She told me the flights were canceled.

I called American Express Travel again on January 13, 2018 at 9:21 AM and got disconnected. I called again at 9:27 AM, the lady and I had trouble due to the static interfering in the conversation and she said she would call me back. She called me back at 9:31 AM from the phone number: 602-603-8018. I picked up, explained the situation and asked about changing one of the flights prior to when our flight will take off (11:25AM on January 13, 2018). This lady told me that she did not see it in her notes that the flight was canceled and was transferring me to Emirates Airlines.

I was transferred to a spokesperson from Emirates Airlines and got disconnected.

I called Emirates Airlines (1-800-777-3999) at 10:02 AM on January 13, 2018. The spokesperson was very unhelpful. She told me Emirates is unable to do anything because the ticket was booked through the travel agent (American Express Travel) and that American Express Travel is the party responsible for changing the tickets. I said okay I understand but I did tell her I found it incredibly unfair that Emirates does not allow an exception to their refund policy regarding a medical emergency.

I called American Express Travel again at 10:21 AM on January 13, 2018. This call lasted 2 hours and 13 minutes. I told her my situation, that I had canceled the flight and wanted to change my flight. During this call I was put on hold multiple times as the lady was talking to Emirates Airlines. The lady seemed to have difficulty to get through to Emirates and told me she was escalating this call to her manager. I was then transferred to Luretha.

Luretha was helpful and said she was going to call Emirates, figure things out and call me back. I also clarified that only one of the three tickets needed to be changed. The other two I would like a refund or some sort of credit. She told me she was going to talk to Emirates to attain a refund and I told her in the case Emirates says no, can American Express Travel issue some sort of credit since this was a medical emergency. I also told her we can send over any necessary medical documentation. She said she will see what she can do and I said I will wait for about two hours for her phone call. The call ended around 12:34PM.

Around 3:38 PM I again called American Express Travel, asked them to transfer me to Luretha so I can ask them the status of the situation. Instead I was connected to another manager named Michael who told me Luretha was still on the phone and will call me back as soon as she can.

I received a phone call at 4:32 PM (602-603-8018) from Luretha, one of the managers for American Express Travel. She proceeded to tell me she could change one of the tickets and it will cost $300 to change the ticket, the cost of the difference of the airfare and the $39 fee. Which we were okay with and willing to pay. Then, Luretha proceeded to tell me that we will have to pay another $600 for the no show fee. I asked why do we need to pay for a no show fee when we had canceled the flight prior to take off. She explained this was because the ticket was being changed after take off. I explained we have been on the phone with American Express Travel prior to take off and we also believed we had until the evening of today to change one ticket per the information given to us on the 12:26 AM phone call with Sheila. At this point, I was on the verge of tears.

Luretha proceeded to explain we will still need to pay the $600 no show fee in order to book the new ticket and that they could do a phone call review to see what had been said. And if we were given misleading information, we could potentially attain a refund for the $600 no show fee. I said no, and reiterated, why do we need to be punished when we began this process prior to take off of the original flight AND given misleading information about when we needed to change the flight. The call ended with her sending this issue to another manager above her which she stated can take 48-72 hours, I said that was fine. We refused to get the new flight unless we did not have to pay for the $600 no show fee. She said that was not possible and that was how the call ended.

My husband booked his flights through Expedia, the outgoing flight was the same while the incoming flight was different. It was also on Emirates airline. Expedia was able to change his flight within 30 minutes and he called them at 9:20 AM. There were absolutely no issues whatsoever for changing the flight or a no show fee. I am unsure as to why it took American Express Travel so long to figure things out to change one flight. We should not be punished for the $600 no show fee when we started this process prior to when our flight took off. American Express Travel had details of our flight information, knew what it was we were trying to accomplish in terms of timelines, and we were also given misleading information (the Sheila phone call). Thus, the call back should have been scheduled appropriately.

We are absolutely flabbergasted at the abysmal customer service we received. American Express is considered to be a best in class card member and travel brand. Therefore, we expected MUCH better customer service. What is the point to be an American Express cardholder when the customer service is so horrible?

Emirates has won numerous awards for its excellence in service, given our experience today, we have yet to see that. What is the point to pay more for a flight on an airline that boasts being one of the best airlines in the world?

Furthermore, when one of your family members is ill, this is NOT the time for additional stress. Both American Express Travel and Emirates have shown no sympathy to our situation nor tried to alleviate it. Instead, both companies have succeeded in further complicating matters. Dealing with a family member who is very sick is difficult enough as it is and to have no proper recourse for a medical emergency is utterly egregious. We do not care which company wants to take the blame, all we care for is a rectification of the situation. We look forward to how American Express Travel and Emirates intends to resolve our situation.
