Throwback: Toni Braxton: Seven Whole Days

Toni Braxton's "Seven Whole Days" is the third single from her 1993 eponymous debut album. L.A. Reid, Babyface, and Daryl Simmons understood how to write for Braxton's wanton contralto that conveyed sensuousness and heartbreak at the same time. "Seven Whole Days" was about the end of a romantic relationship and Braxton's album was getting more popular with each single. Critics and fans immediately praised "Seven Whole Days" but the irony is that Braxton didn't like the song or want to record it. The video featured Braxton singing on a stage with her sisters Traci, Towanda, Trina, and Tamar singing backup for her. The success of Braxton's album garnered three Grammys, two American Music Awards, multiplatinum sales, and top ten status in five countries. Thirty-one years later, Braxton's album still holds its weight as a classic and the Braxton family are pop culture stars. Braxton released her ninth studio album, Spell My Name, in 2020.

Tamar Estine Braxton (born March 17, 1977) is a singer and television personality.

She began her career in 1990 as a founding member of The Braxtons, an R&B singing group formed with her sisters. The Braxtons released their debut album, So Many Ways, as a trio in 1996, and disbanded. In 2000, she released her debut self-titled album through DreamWorks Records. She released her second studio album, Love and War (2013), through Epic Records, which reached the number two position on the Billboard 200 chart. She released her fourth and fifth albums, Calling All Lovers (2015) and Bluebird of Happiness (2017). She has won a BET Award and three Soul Train Music Awards throughout her career. She has been nominated for four Grammy Awards.

She starred in Braxton Family Values alongside her mother and sisters. She served as a co-host on The Real (2013-16) for which she received two Daytime Emmy Award nominations. In 2019, she won the second season of Celebrity Big Brother.

She was born to Michael and Evelyn Braxton in Severn, Maryland. The youngest of the Braxtons’ six children, she started singing as a toddler. The Braxton children would enter their church choir, where their father was a pastor. She and her sisters Toni, Traci, Towanda, and Trina, signed their first record deal with Arista Records in 1989. In 1990, they released their first single, “Good Life”, which peaked at #79 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart.

She married music producer Darrell “Delite” Allamby (2001-2003). She married Vincent Herbert (2008-2019). They have a son. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #womenshistorymonth

RonReaco Lee Kontrol Magazine Cover Release Party & Survivor's Remorse Celebration Kontrol Magazine Homme had a cover unveiling party for Survivor's Remorse star RonReaco Lee as well as the celebration of the season four for Survivors Remorse which comes back on August 20 My Bday on Starz. I had the pleasure of meeting most of the cast. Jessie Usher was so dope and down to earth, dancing to all the latest jams and enjoying himself. Tichina Arnold was amazing and brought everything you love from on screen into real life. Erica Ash was stunning it was my first time seeing her in person and she was flawless head to toe. Her skin, her dress, her hair was shining, shining, shining yeah. Her sister Adrienne Ash flawless too. Teyonah Parris was there all smiles and being amazing. RonReaco Lee the man of the hour. He was soaking up his moment in the sun because we were there to celebrate his magazine cover for Kontrol Homme.  I had the pleasure of attending this wonderful event last night and I think there's one word that can sum up my feeling for the night.... grateful. These are the people I would see on online and TV and say one day I'm gonna be in a room with these people and I would say it's gonna be my moment for life one day. Well, that one day was today. Evelyn Jackson Braxton (January 14, 1948) is an Opera Singer and Life Coach who is on Family Family Values. She was born in Columbia, South Carolina, and moved to South Baltimore at 13. She met her husband Michael Braxton, Sr. (1965-2000). They had six children, Toni, Michael, Traci, Towanda, Trina, and Tamar.

She is the founder of God Can Heal the Heart, an organization of self-development founded to edify and counsel individuals toward their true purpose in life. From witnessing domestic abuse, and depression, and overcoming personal struggles, she is now using her platform to advocate for and with individuals who want to have a better life. She doesn’t stop there. She has launched her beauty line, Ms. E’s Beauty Solutions, a beauty brand created to enhance one’s natural beauty. Ms. E’s Eyebrow Growth Serum conditions and enhances fuller, healthier-looking brows.

She is working on adding the title of author to her resume. She is preparing, with great excitement, for the release of her debut book, Cooking with Ms. E: A Book of Recipes and Family Memoirs. This cookbook is both a culinary and a personal memoir of her life. This project is very near and dear to her heart, offering a connection to her love of cooking and her family.

She attended Sojourner College and Bowie State University, where she studied Social Science and Psychology. She attended Wesley Seminary College. She was a volunteer counselor at Sarah’s House of Distressed Women and Family Shelter.
