Onam is Kerala's major annual festival
Onam is t.he major festival in kerala.Onam festival although it is known to all, even then I wish to mention one line that according to legends, the festival is celebrated to commemorate King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam. Further, it is a harvest festival. Anyway, few dishes which I enjoyed during Onam inter alia are a) Chor which is a variety of red rice. I personally feel if anyone has not tasted this variety of rice then please taste it, b) Morru Kachiyatha is prepared by boiling curd with black sesame seeds, shallots, ginger and garlic, c) Avial is a mixed vegetables prepared with grated coconut and coconut oil and milk, d) Kichadi, although it is called Kichadi but preparation is different than Bengali preparation. It is prepared with spicy curd and vegetables which can be ridge gourd, cucumber, bitter gourd etc, e) Kootu Curry is a dry curry prepared with raw bananas and black Bengal gram mixed with grated coconut and local spices. And another one which I remember is Thoran which is a staple item in every Malayali household. Generally, it is prepared with cabbage, carrots and beans with grated coconut. In addition, varieties of local pickles, along with Rasam, Sambar, Pappad are served.
Still, I remember these tasty vis-a-vis eye-catching dishes. Also its aroma can never be forgotten. While I am writing this article, my mouth is full of water. Hope next year, I will enjoy the dishes. I personally feel simply going to a Malayali restaurant and eating food is totally different than dishes prepared at home during festival.
Wishing all the people in general and Malayali people in particular on this auspicious occasion, prosperous, peaceful and healthy life

ROARING WATER FORCES AMIDST WOODS, BEHOLD IDUKKI WATERFALLS
The gushing water falls during rainy season assume like a roaring lion in the forest, whose roars are heard before reaching the actual location itself. In Kerala, these roaring water forces are in plenty and nestled deep in any forest. The development in the tourism sector of the state has allowed the safe watch of these waterfalls in close. Originating from any mountains and cascading forcefully along steep rocks, finally hitting the underlying rocks with full force, the watch of waterfalls is a great enthusiasm in any tour. More than the sight, the eagerness to take a dip in the pool formed by the fall is really invigorating. Kerala is famous for a popular waterfall that has already stolen the big screens, Athirapally.
Tumblr media
Apart from this fall, there are several small cascades that are alluring to behold and most of them are situated in Idukki. It is a famous hill station known for many tourist attractions spread across in places like Munnar, Thekkady, and Marayoor. These are the places where family and other group tours are conducted exclusively. Some of the offbeat waterfalls locations in Idukki are exploited by tour planners and they are arranging trips to this destination. These packages stress on trekking and nature walks. With just minimum budget one can trip around the majestic falls and enjoy the nature. Family tours are mostly invited here as safety is the first preference give here. Touring with family is safer as elders can warn the kids and youth about the danger associated with these locations. During monsoons, these cascades take a dangerous form. Thus, post monsoon invites soared booking for affordable and cheap family tour packages to Kerala. With a minimum budget, a Vista of the astounding teaser of nature is presented before the eyes. Waterfalls can enthrall both the kids and adults equally. Waterfalls visit is a must in any tour and the reason behind it is the initial trek through woods to reach the destination, the sight of the majestic streams falling down with great force and from soared height and swimming in the cool pools created at the down part by the fall. Check out some of them
Tumblr media
Thommankuthu waterfalls- This wild waterfall is nestled in Thodupuzha and is a seven stepped fall. This is an eco-tourism point and one can find many bamboo bridges along the path. Here you can find more wilderness as the name of the fall itself was derived from the mishap happened to a tribal named Thomman who died when he was about to pluck the fruits on other sides. The water currents are tricky. So, if the guidelines given by the forest officials are not met then, there are chances for dangers.
Tumblr media
Anchuruli waterfalls- These waterfalls are just the extension of the Idukki dam located three kilometers from Kanchiyar village. The reason why it is given the name as Anchuruli because, during low tides and when the water in the river is low, five hills are seen like an inverted vessel. The hilly areas of western ghats have a picturesque view looking from here and also chirruping of the birds fills up the morning saga. If one passes through a mountain here, then 6 kilometers of length subterranean tunnel can be seen. This tunnel brings water from Idukki dam and during the rainy season, it forms another waterfall.
Tumblr media
Njandirukki waterfalls - A popular spot for filming songs. Located in the Poomala town of Idukki, the unique geography of the fall has given it the name. The fall is originating from the Cheppukulam hills and at the treacherous rocks of the foothills of Poomala, the water sidles like a crab, hence the name. This waterfall is located deep inside the forest.
Cheeyappara waterfalls- Around 40 kilometers from Munnar, this waterfall is known by many of those who are traveling to Munnar by Adimali. Tour packages to Kerala invite many visitors from different parts of the country and of which Bangalore is the main. Lots of people are visiting Kerala from Bangalore to shed their daily life pressures and enjoy nature. Thus in all these Amazing Kerala tour packages from Bangalore trips, Munnar has included and because of which this waterfall on the way will be covered. These will not dry up even during summer and is a seven stepped cascade formed on a huge rock.
