Rustica Trattoria - South Main Street in Manville, NJ
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was pretty excited when I heard about Rustica Trattoria opening. I was already well-acquainted with all the pizza in the area surrounding my job so a new pizzeria opening minutes away?? Sign me up. For some reason I was under the impression that Rustica was a pie only joint so I called ahead to order what I thought was a plain pie...but turned out to be a margherita. Then when I went to pick it up, I found out they did sell individual slices! Oh well. The slice selection seems to be very slim compared to the pie selection, so I'm not too mad about it. Plus, the margherita has so far been my favorite slice from Rustica!
Tumblr media
I don't know what they put in the sauce, but it tastes great! Juicy and flavorful with an unexpected kick complimented by crust that's light and crispy while still having a little fluff to it. Really a margherita done right! I also went back to try plain and buffalo slices but neither one could really compare. I can't even remember what they tasted like they were so generic. If you don't mind getting a personal margherita pie, Rustica Trattoria is worth a scope. My pie was light enough that I was able to comfortably eat the whole thing by myself. The only real downside was the $11 price tag. Woof! If I was rating this just on the margherita I would probably bump it up to a 5, but factoring in the other slices I'm going to have to drop it to a 4.

What to say about Napoli? I have been to a few places in Italy but I was not ready for Napoli.
In three words : vibrant, busy and dirty. Each areas of the Napolitano city gives a different vibe: the crowded historic center, the posh Chiaia, the festive Spanish quarter, the quiet Vomero.
If you have time, and a fan of history, go check out the natural park of Vesuvio and the Pompeii site. Overall, Napoli will not leave you on the reserve. It is definitely a must-go. But not too long.
Try to escape the city to recharge. Not too far by boat, you have several islands to visit: Capri, Procida and Ischia.
For us, we decided to focus on Ischia. Only 50 minutes by speed boat with Alilaura company. The island is full of thermal swimming pools. We chose O'Vagnitiello, small and familial hotel on the edge of a private crique. Only a couple rooms available, I would recommend the king size room with sea view. Spectacular to wake up with the sun right in the room and the sound of the waves crushing right outside our window. The place is especially magical when all the daily guests leaves at the end of the day, then it is you and the few guests from the hotel with the owners. Really intimate in the best way. Breakfast and food from the restaurant will give you complete satisfaction: delicious, fresh and local. During the day, you have 4 natural and warm pools at your disposal, a sauna, a jacuzzi and of course the best pool of mother nature: the Mediterranean sea.
Tips:
1. I would definitely recommend to book your stay in low season such as late September - mid October. Less people during the day, many sunbeds available, quieter, and sea water still warm from the summer.
2. Book everything in advance: ferry, various entrances for churches, museums, natural parks, etc.
3. Stay in historic center, which will give you the chance to visit all areas of Napoli by foot. And you are close to many nice restaurants so you don't have to do long distance walking back to hotel.
4. Be careful to yourself and your belongings. Many pickpockets like in all big cities. Trust your instinct when traveling, be aware of your surroundings and people around you.
5. Where we ate? Pizzeria Brandi> for THE original pizza Margherita, Trattoria da Nennella> best cantina (good value for your money), Pizzeria Concettina ai Tre Santi> with one star Michelin and a very cute outdoor, Osteria Donna Teresa> in the very chic area near the funicular station.

Discovering Authentic Italian Pizza in South Wentworthville
Tumblr media
Pizza lovers in South Wentworthville are in for a treat. The suburb is home to several restaurants that offer authentic Italian pizza, with its thin, crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and rich flavors. Unlike the heavier, more commercial varieties of pizza, authentic Italian pizza focuses on simplicity and quality, using traditional methods and ingredients that transport diners straight to Italy. Whether you’re a fan of a classic Margherita or prefer a gourmet option loaded with fresh toppings, South Wentworthville has a variety of pizzerias that serve up authentic slices. In this blog, we’ll explore the best spots to enjoy authentic Italian pizza in the area.
What Makes Authentic Italian Pizza Special?
Italian pizza is distinct from many other styles due to its emphasis on fresh, high-quality ingredients and a traditional, time-honored preparation method. Authentic pizza starts with a simple, thin crust made from flour, water, yeast, and salt. This dough is stretched by hand and cooked in a wood-fired oven, resulting in a crisp, lightly charred base that’s the perfect canvas for toppings.
The toppings are often minimalist but full of flavor, with the emphasis on balance. Classic combinations like the Margherita, with its tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and basil, showcase the purity of the ingredients. Meanwhile, pizzas like Quattro Stagioni offer a variety of flavors, with toppings divided into four sections, each representing a different "season" of flavors—artichokes, ham, mushrooms, and olives.
Top Spots for Authentic Italian Pizza in South Wentworthville
Pizzeria Italiana One of the standout spots for authentic Italian pizza in South Wentworthville is Pizzeria Italiana. Known for its adherence to traditional methods, this restaurant offers a wide range of pizzas, all cooked in a wood-fired oven. Their Margherita pizza is a must-try, with its perfectly balanced tomato base, fresh mozzarella, and a sprinkling of basil that adds a fresh touch. For those looking for something more robust, the Diavola pizza, with its spicy salami and chili, offers a burst of heat, balanced by the richness of the cheese and sauce. Pizzeria Italiana’s cozy, welcoming atmosphere and commitment to authenticity make it a favorite among locals.
La Trattoria La Trattoria offers a traditional Italian dining experience, with a focus on rustic, homemade dishes, including their pizzas. Their Prosciutto e Rucola pizza, topped with thinly sliced prosciutto, fresh arugula, and shaved parmesan, is a great example of how simplicity can result in a dish full of flavor.La Trattoria also offers vegetarian options like the Vegetariana, which features an assortment of roasted vegetables, making it a healthy yet delicious choice. The restaurant’s dedication to using high-quality ingredients and traditional cooking methods has earned it a loyal following in South Wentworthville.
Pizza al Forno Pizza al Forno is another top contender for authentic Italian pizza in South Wentworthville. Their pizzas are made using a traditional dough recipe and cooked in a wood-fired oven, ensuring that signature crispy crust with a light, airy interior. A standout on their menu is the Quattro Formaggi, a blend of four cheeses that melt together to create a rich, creamy topping that’s indulgent without being overwhelming. For seafood lovers, the Frutti di Mare pizza, topped with an array of fresh seafood like prawns, mussels, and squid, is a unique offering that brings a taste of the Mediterranean to your plate.
Why Authentic Italian Pizza Is So Popular
One of the reasons authentic Italian pizza is so beloved is its simplicity and focus on quality. Each ingredient is carefully selected to complement the others, with no one element overwhelming the dish. The dough, in particular, is often the star of the show, as the wood-fired oven creates a perfect balance of crispness and chew.
In South Wentworthville, pizza lovers appreciate the authenticity of these restaurants, many of which are run by Italian families or chefs trained in traditional Italian cooking methods. This commitment to tradition ensures that diners can experience the true flavors of Italy without leaving the suburb.
Vegetarian and Vegan Options
Authentic Italian pizza also caters well to vegetarian and even vegan diets. Many of the restaurants in South Wentworthville offer plant-based pizzas that do not compromise on flavor. For vegetarians, pizzas like the Margherita or Vegetariana are perfect options, featuring fresh vegetables and mozzarella cheese. Vegan diners can enjoy variations with dairy-free cheese and plenty of vegetable toppings.
Conclusion
If you’re craving authentic Italian pizza in South Wentworthville, you won’t be disappointed by the variety and quality on offer. From the classic simplicity of a Margherita to the rich flavors of a Diavola or Quattro Formaggi, the local pizzerias deliver an experience that’s true to Italian culinary traditions. With their focus on fresh ingredients, traditional cooking methods, and a warm, inviting atmosphere, these restaurants provide a slice of Italy right in the heart of South Wentworthville.
Next time you’re in the area, be sure to stop by one of these local spots and treat yourself to an unforgettable pizza experience!

Discover Authentic Italian Pizza in South Wentworthville
Tumblr media
If you're on the hunt for authentic Italian pizza in South Wentworthville, you're in for a treat. This vibrant suburb in Western Sydney may be known for its diverse culinary offerings, but it’s the local pizzerias that truly stand out, capturing the heart and soul of traditional Italian cooking. For lovers of authentic Italian pizza, South Wentworthville is a hidden gem, offering a taste of Italy that’s both genuine and delicious.
What Makes Italian Pizza Authentic?
Authentic Italian pizza is all about simplicity, fresh ingredients, and a meticulous preparation process that has been perfected over centuries. Unlike some modern adaptations, which often focus on heavy toppings and thick crusts, traditional Italian pizza emphasizes a delicate balance of flavors and textures. Here’s what you can expect when indulging in authentic Italian pizza in South Wentworthville.
The Crust: A Foundation of Perfection
The crust is the cornerstone of any great pizza, and Italian pizza is no exception. Authentic Italian pizza dough is made using just a few basic ingredients—flour, water, yeast, and salt. The magic happens in the preparation and cooking. The dough is allowed to rise slowly, sometimes for up to 24 hours, which creates a light, airy base with just the right amount of chewiness. Once stretched by hand, the dough is baked in a wood-fired oven at a high temperature, resulting in a thin, crispy crust that serves as the perfect foundation for the toppings.
The Sauce: Simple Yet Flavorful
A key element of authentic Italian pizza in South Wentworthville is the sauce, which is typically made from San Marzano tomatoes.
