Seven Books In Seven Days: Traitor of Redwinter by Ed Mcdonald
tagged by e-b-reads to post the cover of a book you love and tag someone else to do the same every day for a week!
I haven't actually read this one yet, since it doesn't come out until later this year. But I was so struck by this cover when I saw the reveal on tordotcom that I had to immediately check out book 1 from the library. highly effective cover action, very cool art. (as per google the artist is Galen Dara. You can see the rest of her portfolio here)

A Gentleman and a Scholar's Short List of Books I Hope To Read Before Year's End
Hullo, hi, Filip here. I take this valuable reading time to notify you that I have a few too many books I’d like to read before the year comes to an end, and I’m, frankly, drowning under the sheer weight of paper stock. Prepare yourselves! Starling House by Alix E. Harrow The new Harrow novel is ace, and I’ll probably burn through it over the rest of the night because I am a maniac who cannot…

Interview with Author Ed McDonald Thanks to @Torbooks for the assist here. #TraitorofRedwinter #ChroniclesofRedwinter #Fantasy #Books #Authors
Life is as always very busy, and what’s the best thing to do when you’re busy? Add in something new to work on. With that in mind, I decided to change things up from my normal routine and conduct an interview with an author whose work I admire. This will be the first interview I’ve done on my blog, and I’m happy with how it turned out. For the first interview, I reached out to author Ed McDonald…

Absolutely gorgeous shout-out to THE BLUE BEAUTIFUL WORLD, but also how delightful to see it accompanied by so many other Gollancz books too!
Dates for your diaries:
SHIGIDI AND THE BRASS HEAD OF OBALUFON, Wole Talabi - 8th August
SIR HEREWARD AND MISTER FITZ, Garth Nix - 24th August
THE BLUE BEAUTIFUL WORLD, Dr Karen Lord - 31st August
YUMI AND THE NIGHTMARE PAINTER, Brandon Sanderson - 3rd October
TRAITOR OF REDWINTER, Ed McDonald - 26th October
THE NARROW ROAD BETWEEN DESIRES, Patrick Rothfuss - 14th November
‘Dr. Karen Lord is one of our greatest, and in her latest novel, The Blue Beautiful World, she shows us exactly why that is. Dr. Lord is looking at the big picture here. This is not simply a cli-fi book, it is not simply a first contact story, nor is it just a space opera. It is all of these things, it is so much more than these things. We follow Owen, a mega popstar with an uncanny ability to draw a crowd and make people fall in love with him—he is described as being the “hometown hero” of every city, because he sings in every language and appears to be everywhere at once. What exactly happens during his shows is anyone’s guess, but he seems to have the world in his hands, as if by some ultra-human force. Owen and his team find themselves at the center of intergalactic attention, and Owen’s abilities might be the key to helping humanity. The Blue, Beautiful World is tied to others in Dr. Lord’s Cygnus Beta but stands alone brilliantly, with fully fleshed-out characters that you’ll become more and more invested in as the story unravels—the story zooms out to galaxy level and deals heavily with A.I. and cutting-edge technology, but its cornerstone is the relationships between characters and their individual growth throughout. In the way that all great speculative fiction is, it is a story about what makes us human, and how the connections we form with each other are vital to our survival, and it’s told in the most exquisite prose.’
Lovely preview from Christina Orlando for The Blue, Beautiful World!

Review: Traitor of Redwinter
Review: Traitor of Redwinter by Ed McDonald from Tor Books #books #fantasy #review #magic #politics
I am a series lover. I enjoy spending time in an author’s creation. I love it when author’s explore their worlds and show their imagination. While this is usually something I find in horror, fantasy, and science fiction, it’s not limited to those genres. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry was the first book that I wanted to never end. Traitor of Redwinter by Ed McDonald is the latest book that…
