Ornithischian Illustrations #1
Tumblr media
Triceratops horridus
The drab palette of the body was inspired by mammalian megafauna, primarily rhinocerotes. The blue colouration was inspired by the colourfulness of birds, but there was no specfic reference in-mind. This was meant to be an older bull; I imagine females would have less colourful frills, as bright ornaments are usually secondary sex characteristics.
Tumblr media
Camptosaurus dispar
Colouration innspired by the Greater Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros). Depicted individual is female.
Tumblr media
Scolosaurus cutleri
Colour pattern was not referenced from any specific aninimal. This individual was inteded to be a female, I imagine males would be more brightly-coloured.
Tumblr media
Heterodontosaurus tucki
Colouration inspired by meerkats (Suricata suricatta) and various ratites—the tuft of fuzz on the head was copied directly from emus (Dromaius novaehollandiae). Pictured individual is male.

Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros)
The scientific name I'd derived from Greek, Tragos "he-goat" and elaphos "deer", Strephis "Twisting" and Keras " horn"
Females weigh between 120 kg and 210 kg
Males weigh between 190kg and 270 kg - Some reaching 300kg
Despite their size these antelope are extremely agile, they are Olympic high jumpers 🏅🏅who can easily jump 2 Meters (6.65 ft) ... strong jumpers have been recorded jumping up to 3.5 Meters (11.48 ft).. reaching speeds of up to 60mph (96.5 kmph) 😳
