The Walking Dead Series Rewrite - Backstory
Pairing: Eventual Daryl Dixon x Reader
Word Count: 1168
Warnings: I don’t think there are any, but if you see something that should be a warning don’t hesitate to message me and tell me! I would also like to add that I’m in no way, shape or form a writer, so I’m sorry in advanced lmao.
Summary: This is the backstory about you, Y/N L/N, and how your life has been since you were a child, but with a lot of time skips in between, lmao.
Author’s Note: I wanted to create a backstory for this series because I wanted to already show the reader’s life before the apocalypse and how you knew Rick and some others before hand. Also, if you want to be tagged for this series or my other fics, tell me and I’ll add you! Let me know what you think about this and if you want to request something just send an ask!
Growing up wasn’t the best experience for you especially not knowing whether your stay was going to be permanent or you’ll just be dumped on someone else. Your parents were killed in a car accident by a drunk driver causing you to be abandoned in the world when you were just five and foster care was the only option for you considering you had no other family members residing in the US.
Foster care took a toll on you because you saw all other the kids yelling for mom and dad while you were stuck calling the people who took care of you Bob and Carly or Eddie and Martha. You always felt like the outcast and kept to yourself most of the time not socializing with any of your temporary “family,” knowing you’d be forced to leave eventually. Being anti-social wasn’t your forte, you were usually an outgoing and friendly child, but you weren’t about to make friends when you knew you’d move to the next home anyways.
After about five years of bouncing to one home to the next, the system found that you had an aunt who just moved from Italy to Virginia. Her not being the in America prevented you from potentially having a place to call home and once she learned about you she didn’t object to the idea of you staying with them.
Jolene and Chris, your aunt and uncle, were very welcoming. They gave you a room that you could decorate to your heart’s desire, something you never got to do. Jolene taught you how to make home cooked meals and the basic household chores where as Chris showed you how to hunt and operate weapons varying from guns to your own fists. “No one can fight your battles for you, only you can,” he would always remind you.
Not long after staying with your relatives, they adopted you and you finally had a place to call home. You were not the anti-social orphan that everyone defined you to be. Feeling the sense of security and stability cracked open your shell and you finally were able to be yourself. You weren’t lost anymore, you found yourself underneath all that pain of feeling lonely, unloved, unwanted, and judged for being someone you never wanted to portray yourself to be.
When your sixteenth birthday rolled around, you didn’t receive a car like everyone else, instead you got a machete that your uncle had made himself. You were in total awe of your shiny new blade and you’d rather have that than a car any day if you were being honest. He already familiarized you on how to utilize a machete along with every other weapon he could ponder, so he took you on a camping trip for the weekend to put your new gift to use.
Later on, your uncle had gotten a job offer in King County, Georgia before your senior year, so one day you and your aunt were going through the attic when you stumbled upon a box filled to the brim with photo albums dating back to god knows when.
You carefully picked up one of the dusty photo albums afraid it would crumble at any given moment and sat with your legs crossed against one of the already packed boxes. Your fingers gracefully traced over the worn photos and delicately flipped over to the next page.
A smile tugged at your lips when you saw your aunt and uncle shoving pieces of their chocolate wedding cake in each other faces. You were about to flip to the next page when a certain photo caught your eye … a picture of your aunt and uncle with a familiar couple. They were all laughing at a dinner table decorated with wine glasses and you curiously frowned because you swore you’d seen them before.
Your thoughts were broken when your aunt came with a smile plastered on her face and started to make her way over. “Ahh, I see you found my photo albums. I was beginning to wonder if they were in my closet downstairs or up here collecting dust,” she joked.
She plopped down beside you with her legs stretched out infront of her and noticed your gaze fell back on the mysterious photo. “Those are your parents, Y/N.” You whipped your head and stared at your aunt seeing her smile sadly, she then went in the box full of photo albums behind her and gathered an album that had, “In Memory of Y/P/N,” written at the top and there were numerous photos of your parents within it.
Both of you spent hours going through memories and listened to her talk about your parents. You both laughed and cried, and you were reminded that they cherished and loved you and they would be so proud of you. You smiled at the thought of them watching over you.
Once you settled into your new home in Georgia, you started the first day of your new school being the new kid, but that was nothing new to you. You weren’t looking to making friends since it was your last year of high school and you would just go your separate ways once you graduated, but you ended up surprising yourself. Three months after school started, you developed a bond between Rick Grimes and Shane Walsh.
You and Rick were attached to each other’s hip doing almost everything together which earned teasing from Shane and students you didn’t even know existed. They would go on and rant on how you two should just make out and date already, but you and Rick would always look at each other and snicker. The relationship was always platonic and forever will be, so the comments never bothered either one of you. Shane and you weren’t as close as you and Rick, but he was the one who would casually flirt with you and you didn’t mind.
After you graduated high school, you decided you wanted to get away from King County even if it meant leaving everyone you cared for. You served four years in the United States Marine Corps before purchasing a home back in King County, Georgia because afterall, it was the place you thought of when you heard the word, home.
A career in law enforcement was always your dream, so when the King County Sheriff’s Department recruited you, you were beyond stoked. You were happily shocked to learn that Rick and Shane still resided in King County and were employed at the department like you.
Rick was married to Lori, a woman you soon became close with, and had a son named Carl, who admired you. Shane was still the player that he was and it didn’t surprise you one bit, you knew it would be hard for him to find someone, but you couldn’t contain the laughter that spilled out of you when he complained about something stupid a girl did. It was like you never left.

THE FORMER FIANCÉES OF KENRIC DIZZNEE (Ep.1 - Part One)
(O/N: Hey lol. This is not a roleplay scene or anything interesting, it's just a- idek. I was watching SIX and I made this, that's what this is- and now there's a ton of stuff lol. So here have this. All characters belong to me except from Emma Sencen, who belongs to "Foster".)
Lorellia: He doesn’t love you! He acts like he wants you dead!
[Scarlet Spectre floats above a sofa cushion, fiddling with her hair as she watches the drama play out. Belladonna Nightshade stirs the tea she’s made for herself, Lorellia Faetal and Evira Cullenvine. Evira and Lorellia are arguing. Lorellia is worked up and screaming at Evira, whilst Evira smugly looks at Lorellia, staying calm.]
Evira: Well then, doll, why’d he propose to me?
Lorellia: Did he really propose to you?
Evira: Of course he did.
Lorellia: Where’s your ring?
Evira: Right here.
[Evira holds up her hand, tracing a finger over her diamond ring.]
Evira, smiling smugly: Isn’t it gorgeous?
Scarlet: Just diamond?
Evira: What do you mean by that?
Scarlet: It’s boring. I once heard he was going to propose to Emma Sencen and he personally made a ring for her. Evira: That’s just rumors. He doesn’t have the time for that.
Belladonna: I made everyone tea. Scarlet: I hate you. Belladonna: It’s not my fault you’re dead. I didn’t force you to have an affair with your best friend’s boyfriend. Evira: She did that-?
Lorellia: Was he hot?
[Belladonna hands Lorellia and Evira a cup of tea, and drinks her own.]
Evira: This is poisoned, isn’t it, darl?
Belladonna: No.
Evira: Hm.
[Evira sips the tea.]
Lorellia: Are you going to answer or not Scarlet?
Scarlet: Yeah, he was hot.
Lorellia: Ooooh, describe him.
Evira: Please don’t.
Belladonna: Did you even gain anything from that?
Scarlet: Uh- a boyfriend?
Lorellia: And you died right after?
Scarlet: Basically… it’s tragic…
Belladonna: He literally had a girlfriend. And she was your best friend, apparently.
Scarlet: Don’t “he literally had a girlfriend” me! You wanna remember why we’re all here?
Lorellia: Why are we here again?
Belladonna: Because we used to be engaged-
Evira: Ahem. Belladonna: Because the majority of us used to be engaged to be Kenric Dizznee.
Lorellia: Uh yeah, so?
Scarlet: Lori, do you remember your wedding day?
Lorellia, tearing up: Yes. That stupid Emma Sencen ruined it.
Belladonna: Why did she ruin it?
Lorellia: Because she was in love with Kenric?
Evira: Actually they’re both in love with each other. They were also dating at the time.
Belladonna: Don’t you mean they were both in love with each other?
Evira: Right. I forgot she doesn’t love him anymore.
Belladonna: Are you implying he still loves her?
Evira: Of course not.
Lorellia: Oh good.
Evira: Because he loves me.
Lorellia: How unfortunate.
Scarlet: It is quite sad.
[Lorellia and Scarlet sigh in harmony as Lorellia plops down onto the couch next to Scarlet.]
Lorellia: He was so handsome…
Scarlet: And sweet…
Lorellia: Too bad he’s wasting his affections on a girl who hates him.
Violet Chrysanthe: Hello-
Belladonna: What is she doing here?
Lorellia: Isn’t that his other ex-girlfriend?
Violet: We never dated-
Evira: But you kissed, right?
Violet: Er- not quite…
Belladonna: Why is she here?!
Scarlet: Maybe they were secretly engaged.
Evira: They haven’t even kissed.
Scarlet: Have you and Kenric willingly kissed?
Evira: …no-
Scarlet: Point proven.
Belladonna: What are we even meant to be doing again?
Scarlet: No idea.
Lorellia: We should play a game.
Belladonna: Absolutely not.
Scarlet: We should put that Violet girl to some use.
Lorellia: We should try to guess Kenric’s type.
Belladonna: That’s a ridiculous idea.
[Scarlet and Lorellia ignore Belladonna. Evira drinks her tea, and Violet is trying to open the exit to escape.]
Scarlet: Good idea! And we can use Violet and Evira to base our answers off.
Evira: Yeah, we’re not doing that.
[Five minutes later…]
[Evira has surrendered out of boredom and is sitting on a chair, and Violet is helplessly tied to a chair. A picture of Emma is taped to a chair next to her.]
Lorellia: Hmmmm….
Belladonna: If you’re going to do this, there’s no way to actually verify any of this.
Lorellia: Oh- we should get Kenric then!
Scarlet: Yeah!
Evira: I mean- this is our show right? So we’re in control.
Scarlet: Can we just-
Lorellia: BRING OUT KENRICCCC!
[A random person drags Kenric, tied to a chair, and knocked out into the room then runs out and locks the doors.]
Evira: What the hell? Is he okay-
Belladonna: He’ll be fine. Lorellia: He’s so handsome…
Evira: Touch him and I kill you.
Lorellia: You’re so boring!
Scarlet: Did your mother never teach you to share-
[The room goes silent.]
Evira: It’s a good thing for you that you’re already dead.
Scarlet: I forgot!

SHOT abstract
Edit: This was accepted! Very excited to be on a panel with Einar Engstrom, Christina Dorfling, Magdalena Zdrowdowska and Susan Schmidt-Horning as our discussant. Our sibling “Fabulating Histories by way of Making” panels include Hannah Perner-Wilson, Daniela Rosner, Irene Posch, Kostas Latoufis, Ellen Foster, Aristotle Tympas and the organizer of this behemoth proposal, Yana Boeva. So many people I’m excited to finally meet in person / see again! Because there are 4 of us on the musical instruments-related panel I may not be able to cover everything in the abstract below but I’m still excited to write the paper!
This is the abstract I proposed for SHOT’s meeting next year in Milan.
From Rhizomatic Organology to Variantology: The Fragmented Histories In Electronic Music Technologies
What strategies are available to assess the role of humans and electronics in music making? Based on foundational work describing how users and artifacts influence each other (Callon 1984, Akrich 1987, Knorr Cetina 1999, Pinch & Tosoni 2017), we can describe electronic music instruments and their users as enmeshed in a co-constructive process (Pinch & Oudshorn, 2003) with musical works as a by-product. However, the compounded influence of humans and non-humans remains difficult to disentangle, partly because art scholars have not yet fully incorporated technical knowledge into their practice (Born 1995:8, Nakai 2017). To address this, music studies has been incorporating concepts from of sociotechnical scholarship (Braun 2000, Bates 2012, Loughridge 2013, Marshall 2014, Dolan 2015).
Working from assemblage theory (DeLanda 2016), I discuss the potential of reverse engineering (Boeva et al. 2018) as a still underutilized tool to assess the agency of various actants in the making of music by electronic means (Teboul, 2015 & 2017). I present two case studies: the ever-shifting circuitry of the 1976 composition Star Networks at the Singing Poing, by Ralph Jones (Jones 2004), and Philip White's research based on a custom hardware and software hybrid simply called the feedback instrument (White 2018a, 2018b). These show how a concept of scale is essential in acquiring a historical and technical understanding of the processes that lead to the existence of specific electronic music works. Building on theorizations of troubleshooting (Johnson 1995), I describe three scales at which musical electronics operate: the component scale, the circuit scale, and the system scale; I also offer a complimentary meta-level, the interface (Emerson 2014) which can interact with any of the previous scales. I show how a functional understanding of the interaction of subsystems at these various levels within the black box (Bissell 2004; Von Hilgers 2011; Goddard 2015) of audio electronics provides musicologically and historically valuable interpretations and context (Teboul 2017, 2018). I then generalize this approach for looking at circuits and code to propose a methodology for studying technical objects in the arts, oscillating between non-hierarchical taxonomies such as rhizomatic organologies (Magnusson 2017) and historical genealogies of media devices such as variantology (Zielinski 2006).
Furthermore, I identify the process of making in technical environments as a process of encoding: in the context of electronic music, where intentions can only ever be partially recovered from artifacts, I suggest that this is, in data compression terms, a lossy encoding process (although this does not require the pre-existence of an "ideal" work, see Goehr 1992). Therefore, building off of debates in media archeology (Wershler 2016) I conclude with a discussion of the importance of ethnographic work, which is especially important in the world of fast-paced, ephemeral and experimental practices such as electronic music instrument design and composition.

Nicole Richie 'wants it all,' David Foster is 'the worst': Stars reveal their biggest holiday shopping secrets at NowWith launch
Nicole Richie and David Foster take a selfie at Yahoo Lifestyle’s NowWith shopping video launch in Los Angeles. (Photo: Getty Images)
“I want it all!” Nicole Richie says with a laugh, when asked to pick a favorite from her new lifestyle brand, Honey Minx.
The designer and mother of two launched her line on Thursday night in Los Angeles, in collaboration with Yahoo Lifestyle’s NowWith, a new interactive video series that lets viewers shop a celebrity’s look while enjoying a glimpse into his or her life. NowWith is kicking off with videos featuring Richie and her line, Honey Minx, and Pretty Little Liars actress Janel Parrish in collaboration with eBay. (Watch our first video, here!)
“It’s a new way of shopping, and I totally understand it as a consumer,” says Richie. “We are all watching things on our phone. And I know that’s what my customer is doing as well, and I was really excited to jump on board with that,” she said.

Richie, clad in a black toga and an orange Honey Minx headband, revealed that her new line was created “to be very giftable,” which makes the holiday season the perfect time to launch. “When I showed the line to my friends, they were walking around and they were like, ‘I would get this for my mom’ and ‘I would get this for my aunt’ or ‘I would get this for my little sister.” And it was really sweet to watch that process happen really organically,” she explained.
Gifting is important to Richie, who said that the most thoughtful present she’s opened recently came from a close girlfriend of hers. “She got me a really nice Rummikub set. We play a lot of games at my house. We bring a lot of people together, so I thought it was a thoughtful gift,” she disclosed.
Record producer and songwriter David Foster revealed that when it comes to holiday shopping, he’s the “worst Christmas shopper on the planet” but said he was getting some ideas from the products featured at the NowWith launch. He admitted that he is “not sure yet” what to get his newly coined fiancée, Katharine McPhee. But he tends to play it safe with his kids. “I have a go-to for my kids, which is gift certificates,” he said. As far as what he wants this year? “Airplane hours.”
Actress Nia Long, who couldn’t get enough of the Honey Minx accessory bags, raved about NowWith’s innovative shopping videos. “This is a genius idea. If you can have an online experience where you can watch your favorite celebrity and press a button and buy everything they are wearing or showing in that little vignette, it’s great!” she exclaimed.

And if Long could get any of her acting colleagues to offer up a chance to shop in their closets, she would love it to be Tracee Ellis Ross. “I love her because she’s daring but she’s also like 7 feet taller than me probably,” she said with a laugh.
Fifty Shades Freed star Arielle Kebbel was spotted eyeing Richie’s essential oils during the party as a seasonal gift idea for her pals, but she told Yahoo Lifestyle that there is one thing at the top of her wish list this season: Michelle Obama’s recently released memoir, Becoming.
