In 1865, Hanpeita Takechi (Hayato Ichihara) belongs to the political activist group called Shishi. Captured by the officials, he is imprisoned and ordered to commit suicide for disrespecting his Lord. Before Takechi can follow the orders, he wakes up in the middle of a country road. Not only is he no longer imprisoned. He no longer is in his own time. He finds himself in present-day Japan in a rural village area. Luckily he is taken in by an old man who runs a cram school. Hanpeita Takechi becomes a teacher, while still trying to find out what happened to him and how to return.
