Torry slash price of season tickets
STEVE HIBBERD WRITES …….Club president Vicente Boix has announced that as a reward to loyal Torry fans, he has decided to drastically reduce season tickets for the forthcoming season.  At only 50 euros, this equates to a meagre 2.94 euros per match for the 17 home games available from the preferente league group 4 fixture list.
Hopefully all these 17 matches will be played at Vicente Garcia stadium, which has prompted the club to use VOLVEREMOS as their slogan on advertising posters.  President Boix has stated that Torry will be playing at their spiritual home from the start of the season, even though the covered stand will be closed, suggesting the slogan, WE WILL BE BACK, becomes a reality.
Wherever home may be, Torry now find themselves with a great opportunity to start off the new season with a bang.  The Villena match on 10 Sep has been switched from an away to a home fixture, which will now be sandwiched in between home games against Almoradi on Sun 3 Sep, ko 7pm, and Alicante University on 17 Sep.
It was a quiet week regarding recruiting new signings, but manager Pedreno did secure the services of another central defender.  Torrevieja born Santos (22) joins the club from 1st regional side Torrevieja CF, with a promise of more new faces arriving in the coming weeks.

Prediksi Liga Europa CSKA Moscow vs Lyon 9 Maret 2018
KABAR BOLA – Prediksi Liga Europa CSKA Moscow vs Lyon 9 Maret 2018– Leg pertama babak 16 besar UEFA Europa League , wakil Rusia, CSKA Moscow akan menjamu raksasa Prancis, Lyon.
Right back Rafael masih cedera dikubu Lyon, sedang striker andalan Nabil Fekir meragukan setelah absen melawan Montpellier.
Semua tanda menunjuk tak aka nada banyak gol.
Perkiraan Pemain CSKA Moscow vs Lyon:
CSKA Moscow: Akinfeev – Fernandes – Vasin – Berezutski – Schennikov – Golovin – Wernbloom – Dzagoev – Vitinho – Olanare.
Lyon: Lopes – Rafael – Marcelo – Morel – Marcal – Tousart – Darder – Traore – Fekir – Depay – Diaz.
Head to Head CSKA Moscow vs Lyon: Belum ada pertandingan.

Torry deserve better but go down fighting
CD TORREVIEJA - 1    ORIHUELA CF ´B´  - 2 BY STEVE HIBBERD When you consider that Torry´s side was 50 percent that of youth team players, and only 1 outfield player on the bench, then to only lose by the odd goal in 3 was some sort of achievement.  It´s now 8 games since they recorded a victory, way back in early December at bottom place Villena, but against a strong physical Orihuela side, they came very close to earning the point they so richly deserved.  But it´s been more the off field events that have been headline news over the last week or so.  According to Golsmedia sports, ex trainer Juan Calderon has made a denuncia against club president David Cruz and the club as a whole.  Added to that, many more ex players and staff are expected to file denuncias, at a time when the club is deep in debt to the tune of many thousands of euros.  [caption id="attachment_27506" align="aligncenter" width="960"] CD Torrevieja[/caption] David Cruz has had problems at his previous club Castellon, and it does appear that all the warning signs were either ignored, or conveniently swept to one side.  Adding further intrigue to the ongoing saga, is the return of former managers Kiko Lopez and Paco Guillen, who only a month ago resigned for personal reasons.  They replace Moncho, who only last week was given the job on a permanent basis, but who himself has now seen fit to offer his resignation.  So, having started the season with Manu Sanchez at the helm (looking good for promotion at that stage), Torry are now on the 4th manager of the season, and we are still only in February!!  Torry looked confident from the outset, and on 5 mins Julian was only a whisker from getting his header on target.  Orihuela counter attacked, and 3 mins later Torry´s defence did well to block a goal bound shot on the goal line. Strong appeals for a penalty when Thales went down in Orihuela´s area on 15 mins were in vain, but from where I sat it looked a definite foul on the Brazilian.  It all went horribly wrong on 24 mins, when Orihuela were awarded a penalty for a trip, which Abadia made no mistake with, sending Cristo the wrong way.  Not to be outdone, Torry fought back well as first Alex, then Thales, forced the visitors keeper into making superb diving saves.  A route one move found Orihuela´s big gangly striker Solsana, who coolly slid the ball under the on rushing Cristo, doubling his sides lead on the stroke of half time. It took only 5 second half minutes for the hugely impressive Alex to half his sides arrears, forcing home his rebound shot at the second attempt, his first goal for Torry.  [caption id="attachment_27508" align="aligncenter" width="960"] Orihuela were delighted with the 3 pts - Img Orihuela CF[/caption] Although Torry brought on their only outfield substitute, young Paquito could not find the magic necessary to draw his side level.  They came close on 85 mins when Alex brought off another top drawer save, then team match Julian received the same treatment from his goal bound effort in stoppage time.  All in all, returning managers Kiko and Paco can be pleased with their teams determined performance against a mid table side, who must have left Nelson Mandela Stadium relieved at nicking an undeserved 3 points.  Next weekend, 2nd to bottom Torry make the short journey to Benferri, no doubt hoping to avenge the 1-3 home defeat back in mid October.

Alarm bells ringing at Torry as Ximo fails to find the answers has been published at http://www.theleader.info/2018/10/14/alarm-bells-ringing-torry-ximo-fails-find-answers/

Alarm bells ringing at Torry as Ximo fails to find the answers
Although not officially confirmed on the website, it appears that 4 regular players have left the club during the last week, allegedly because of their loyalty to Torrys previous manager, who was instrumental in bringing them to Torrevieja. It was a blow for temporary stand-in Ximo forcing him to bring in youth from the reserve side, much earlier than he might have otherwise planned. Meanwhile in Ximo’s first match in charge, a dramatic late equalizer by Marco earned a share of the points last week at Orihuela, where the club also had Rulo sent off, as a result of which he was unavailable for Sunday evening’s game. Visitors Benferri have had a poor start to the season, winning only one of the 6 games played, whilst Torry will be hoping to add to their 2 victories accrued so far this season.  With Sporting Director Ximo still occupying the role of caretaker manager, a lot will rest on how the promoted reserve team players adapt to a more physical and skilful type of football, in a game that should see the home side pick up all 3 points. Anything less and Ximo will most certainly be looking over his shoulder.   Despite the atrocious weather conditions, which saw a healthy crowd huddled under the Main stand of the Nelson Mandela stadium, the game got underway on time with the visitors having the best of the early exchanges. A Moya corner after only 5 minutes was allowed to bobble around in the Torry box with Dani Abellán the first to react. The outstretched leg of the Benferri forward was enough to poke the ball over the line for the visitor’s opener and Abellán’s first goal of the season. This was not going to plan for the home side and with Benferri now on the front foot there seemed little that Torry could do, other than soak up the visitor’s pressure.  They were certainly the better team and although there were rare glimpses from the home side, decent patches where they strung a good few passes together, it all broke down when they got to the edge of the Benferri box. [caption id="attachment_23862" align="aligncenter" width="1599"] Torry goal scorer Omar - Photo Julie Day[/caption] But as we were all looking toward our half time Bovril, one final effort from Torrevieja saw a speculative Andres shot from the edge of the box, which could only be parried into the path of the lumbering Omar by keeper José. For once the big Senegalese striker was in the right place and he was able to ‘toe poke’ the ball over the line to level the scores as the game juddered toward the half time break. Unfortunately that was about as good as it got for Torrevieja with the visitors dominating for long spells of the game The Benferri second came on the half hour, a glorious shot by David Moya from just inside the box. Juanpe had little chance, and there was even less for him do for the visitor’s 3rd as Lewis and Cristian conspired to gift Abellán his second of the game. Stand in boss Ximo kept the players in the dressing room for almost an hour after the game and was clearly unhappy with the performance. He said: “I think that was as bad as we have been. It was alarmingly poor. We were as bad as we have been both with and without the ball.” Next weekend Torry travel up the AP7 to CF Intercity Sant Joan d´Alacant where they will once again be likely staring at a pointless journey’. With no managerial names yet on the horizon it looks like Ximo will still be the man at the helm, but he too will have to show a little more tactical nous, something sadly lacking to date, if his side hopes to get anything out of the game.

Late strike from Jorge keeps Torry record intact has been published at http://www.theleader.info/2018/09/16/late-strike-jorge-keeps-torry-record-intact/

Late strike from Jorge keeps Torry record intact
CD Torrevieja ( ) FB Redovan CF ( ) By Steve Hibberd For the 3rd game of this new Preferente division season, 4th place, unbeaten, Torry entertained winless Redovan at the Nelson Mandela Stadium, one of only four teams in the league still without a point.   Fans were able to purchase the impressive Hummelspain Torry replica shirts from the box office prior to the game, which are now also for sale in the club’s HQ at Calle Caballero de Rodas 56, in the city centre.  Talk of a return to the Vicente Garcia Stadium is encouraging but the important thing is that results are favourable.  The club are doing all in their power to make it happen, with discussions between the board and the councillor for sport taking place this coming week. Manager Manu Sanchez has installed a great team spirit into his totally revamped squad, one which I witnessed first-hand on the return coach journey from last week’s superb triumph over Villajoyasa.  Unfortunately the team spirit wasn’t quite transferred to the team’s performance as during the early part of the game it was the visitors who applied all the pressure. [caption id="attachment_23138" align="aligncenter" width="607"] Late strike from Jorge keeps Torry record intact[/caption] Torry barely got a look in as Redovan belied their lowly position to take the game to their hosts in an encounter that had a fiery edge from the start. Two early yellows calmed the visitors down, although the first real opportunity of the game went to the home side, with Quique turning Omar’s effort around the post. Thereafter the visitors were by far the sharper of the two sides with Torrevieja’s keeper Juanpe making excellent saves from Guille and Cristian. Indeed, but for the former Murcia stopper, the half time interval could have seen the home side a couple behind, so when the whistle came for the interval Manu Sanchez was keen to get his players inside. However there was little improvement following the restart although much was due to the small minded attitude of the Orihuela referee who blew at every opportunity, as a result of which there were few occasions for the players to build, or put together, any meaningful passage of play. But the hosts began to offer rather more of a threat as the game progressed, flooding the Redovan box with high crosses, and Mañez came close to finding the winner only to see his well-struck volley shave a post. And with the home side piling on the pressure, as the contest entered the 6th minute of added time, virtually the final kick of the game saw Quique fumble a Revi free kick in the Redovan area. Quickest to react was Jorge, who was able to turn the ball over the line from close range.     It was a real blow for the visitors who thought they had just about scraped a draw but euphotia for CD Torrevieja. As Redovan’s wait for a first point continues Torrevieja move up to 3rd in the table. Next week a visit to Elche and CF UD Ilicitana, who are experiencing a rare poor start to their season with just a single point from their opening 3 games. The game is likely to be played Sunday am although always check the Torry website for details.

Rulo seals the win to show what a class act he is
Villajoyosa CF (0) CD Torrevieja (2) ....by Steve Hibberd As a show of solidarity, CD Torrevieja directors invited a number of Torry Army members to travel on the team coach to the seaside town of Villajoyosa for Sunday evening’s match.  Manager Manu Sanchez must have been quietly confident of another good performance, following last week’s showing against Horadada, although how their near neighbours stole a point is something only they know (and perhaps the referee!!).  So far, so good, and in general the fans are liking what they see (with 1 or 2 exceptions - that´s players not supporters, and it includes the bright red away strip!).  Villajoyosa, meanwhile, have had a bad start to a season in which they are amongst the favourites to do well. Finishing 2nd last season, they just missed out in the play offs, but against newly promoted Independent Alicante last weekend, they surprisingly went down 3-1.  It´s Villajoyosa´s 8th season back in the Preferente div, following 10 seasons of flirting between Divisions 3 and 2b so in their first home game in front of their home supporters José Soler’s side were hoping to get their promotion push under way. But the visitors had other ideas. Torry were in no mood to sit back as guests at Villajoyosa’s party as Seydina Omar gave Torrevieja the perfect start with a 9th-minute strike from the spot after centre back Ubeda brought him down in the area. As the last defender the Villajoyosa defender was dismissed, the home side down to ten men, with Omar sending Dani the wrong way to put the visitors in front. And it was Dani who was the busiest player on the field, saving well from Revilla and Rulo during the opening period. But he couldn’t stop a low strike from the former UD Ilicitana forward as Torry extended their lead midway through the half, Rulo quickest to a rebound from an Omar effort that the keeper could only parry. The Elche born player was a major target for manager Manu Sánchez as soon as he got the Torrevieja job and at this stage of the game his industry and his movement were full justification for the manager’s confidence. Two shots from Mañez in quick succession both rebounded off the Villajoyosa bar on the half hour mark before we saw the home side’s first real effort on goal, which Sergio really should have converted. With Mañez then seeing his angled shot turned around the post by Dani the interval arrived none too soon for the home side although their resurgence toward the end of the first forty-five did give the visitors food for thought as he players trooped off for half time. Torry also bossed the game during the 2nd period although they were rather more than fortunate with one or two of the referees ‘calls’. José Soler’s side were denied two penalty shouts, the first when Juan upended Meji on 50 minutes, the 2nd coming late in the game when Sr Lopez Herrero missed a clear handball from Akapo, and things were clearly not going Villajoyosa’s way when, in the 6th minute of added time, Juan could also have seen red, having handled outside the box, with Meji and Antonio both in good positions to score. But on balance the scoreline was about what the visitors deserved in an entertaining game where, with better finishing, the Torry advantage could have been much greater. Next Sunday Torry are at home to Redovan CF who, having lost both their opening games, are rooted just one place from the bottom of the table. More of the same please Mr Sánchez and Im sure the ground will soon begin to fill up as the supporters begin to return.

Debutante Samu scores in exciting Torry victory
BENFERRI CF - 1   CD TORREVIEJA - 2 BY STEVE HIBBERD Torry waited 3 months for a victory, then 2 of them come along!  This latest triumph inside the compact Luis Rocamora stadium, was not one for the faint hearted. Antonio Pedreño’s men had to roll their sleeves up, admirably displaying battling qualities, reminiscent of early season successes. These hard earned 3 points, lifted them up to 9th in the table on 35 points, and with many more winnable matches on the horizon, maybe a playoff berth is not beyond the realms of possibilities?   Good news off the field filtered through, regarding the proposed takeover by investors Chimo and David.  It transpires that they are very much committed to the club, so much so that they are currently in talks with players in South Africa, with a view to them moving to Spain.  But that's for the future, whereas the present is looking decidedly healthier by the day.  Borja and new boy Samu replaced Ramiro and Calderon, from the team that last week ended that wretched winless run. After a slow start, Cata struck a rasping 20 yard drive, skimming the top of Torry's cross bar on 6 mins.  Against the run of play, the visitors took the lead on 14 mins.  A delightful assist by Borja (the last time he played (pre xmas) was without the bushy beard he now sports!) fed Samu, who from the edge of the box struck an awesome drive on the half volley, giving keeper Roberto no chance.  [caption id="attachment_18404" align="aligncenter" width="1339"] The Torry line up against Benferri[/caption] Midway through the half, Vidal pulled off a top drawer save from a firm Ivan header.  Moments later Pablo almost doubled Torry's lead via a firm long distance drive, which rattled the crossbar before bouncing to safety.  How ref Lopez failed to award Torry a penalty following a blatant push on Samu, only he knows, but straight up the other end, Benferri equalized through a Cristian acute angled drive on 33 mins. The hosts finished the half stronger, forcing 2 corners in quick succession, before the half time whistle was gratefully received by the visitors. Zaragoza woke up a dreary start to the 2nd half, with a fearsome drive which was well saved by Roberto on 58 mins, as Torry grew in belief that they could win this match.  Team mate Pablo blasted just over on the hour mark, then moments later he could only watch as the defence lived a charmed life during a series of comical errors.  That all important 2nd goal arrived on 67 mins, which was greeted with wild celebrations.  Although Beltran's drive was well saved, Walid was alert enough to hammer home the rebound through a smattering of defenders legs.  From then on twas all Benferri, starting with a dangerous shot by sub Toni which nestled into the side netting.  Huge controversy arrived on 75 mins, which thankfully was a big let off for the Salinas men.  Having initially awarded a penalty to Benferri for a foul by Tenza, ref Lopez chose to consult his flag waving assistant.  He then rightly changed his mind, by positioning the ball just outside the box, much to the disgust of Benferri players (3 of which received yellow cards for their trouble).  The resultant free kick was tipped over for the first of 3 consecutive corners.  In stoppage time, Cristian was guilty of missing not 1 but 2 open goals, as the Benferri striker's headers sailed harmlessly past the post.   All hell let loose when full time was blown, leaving ref Lopez and his assistants to run a gauntlet of Benferri players and fans alike, whilst the Torry faithful were celebrating their teams first double of the season. Next Sunday (4 Mar, ko 1145, but do check club website as times can change - and often do!), Torry will seek revenge when lowly Pinoso visit Vicente Garcia stadium.  Back in October, Pinoso nicked a late goal to deny Torry a deserved share of the points, and my monies on Pedreño’s men to extend their winning run.

Torry let two-goal lead slip away at Villena has been published at http://www.theleader.info/2018/01/21/torry-let-two-goal-lead-slip-away-villena/

Torry let two-goal lead slip away at Villena
Torry went into this potential play off clash at Villena's polideportivo stadium, down to 8th place following earlier weekend results.  Devastating news was received midweek from the Valencian FA concerning star striker Marwane.  For in their wisdom, they announced that the Algerian hit man (in more ways than one!) had received a massive EIGHT match ban following his sending off at Almoradi last week.  He was awarded 5 matches for violent conduct, plus a further 3 for abuse to the referee.  Whether Torry decide to appeal this verdict or not remains to be seen, but this has come as a huge blow to their playoff aspirations.  For this latest Preferente league encounter, manager Pedreño elected to replace Marwane with young Geordie lad Lewis, who was given his club debut.  Lewis has come through the ranks, and joined fellow ex-pat Booker in a side hungry to prove a point (and hopefully gain at least one!). In a half that lacked excitement and skill, Torry took the lead through a well worked goal by Manu Amores on 17 mins, then 10 minutes later Juanpe doubled their advantaged.  Despite Villena fighting hard to reduce the arrears, Pedreño’s men held firm until 1st half stoppage time, when a moment of defensive hesitancy allowed the hosts to open their account. The 2nd half started much as the first half finished, with hosts Villena very much in the ascendancy.  Raul had been a menace all match, nearly scoring on at least 3 occasions, but on 62 mins he gave Torry keeper Buyo no chance with a rasping drive that nestled into the back of the net.  Both sides created good openings, but were foiled by 2 competent keepers, therefore a final scoreline of 2 goals apiece was just about a fair result. Earlier in the day local rivals Thader Rojales beat another Vega Baja side Orihuela 1-0, lifting them above Torry.  This hard earned point leaves Torry in 8th position, amazingly still only 2 points off the last playoff place, but a whopping 9 points away from leaders Hercules 'B'.   Next weekend sees a 4th away trip in a row for Torry, who visit another side with playoff aspirations, University of Alicante. Torry line up - Buyo, Vicente, Mario, Borja, Zaragoza, Lewis, Ramiro, Booker, Beltran, Manu Amores, Juanpe.

CD TORREVIEJA'S long awaited fixture between arch local rivals CD Montesinos has been thwarted - after both teams suffered relegation - with Torre relegated from the Preferente division, dropping into the Valencia 1st Regional - and Monte's relegation into the 2nd Regional. MANCHESTER United's woes continue in the wake of failure to qualify for next season's Champions League. Ander Herrera is set for a move to PSV. De Gea, Martial, Lukuku, Sanchez, Mata, Fred and Matic, could follow suit. Reds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "I can't talk about individuals but there's a chance you've seen the last of players." United's woeful campaign lead to former player Gary Neville saying Alexis Sanchez should 'never play for the club again', adding: 'There is nothing I like about this United team. Awful - a despondent group of people'. REAL Madrid and Wales star Gareth Bale's 17 million euros salary has thwarted a move to former club Spurs, along with interest from Bayern Munich and Manchester United. Real boss Zinedine Zidane is reportedly set to leave Bale behind when they go on a pre season tour of Los Angeles in July. MONTE Mentals Walking Football are amongst teams taking part in a tournament in Los Montesinos, Alicante, on May 14 and May 16. Games on both days have scheduled approximate kick off times at 9.30am at The Municipality five-a-side pitches. Presentations will take place after the games. PAUL Pogba's huge 13 million euros annual salary at Manchester United is reportedly set to be cut by 25% - after The Reds failure to qualify for next season's Champions League. FRANK Lampard has no fears of his Derby team's quest to gain promotion to the Premier League after reaching the Championship play offs. Derby play Leeds; and WBA play Aston Villa, in the semi finals, with the second legs on May 14-15: "Let's go into it with no fear," said Rams gaffer Lampard, eyeing a play off final spot at Wembley on May 27. Norwich and Sheffield United gained automatic promotion. MAY is the anniversary of the deaths of many footballers that died as a consequence of playing football. On May 25, 1896, James Logan, 25, of Loughborough FC died of pneumonia while playing. May 14, 1939, saw the death of Asbjorn Ronneberg who collapsed and died of a heart attack while playing for Hof IL against Ranmes IL. Tony Aveyard, 21, died on May 18, 1977, playing for Scarborough, after suffering head injuries during a match. May 4, 2018, Luyanda Ntshangase, 21, Maritzburgh United, South African midfielder, died following being struck by lightning on May 1. GRAVELLY voiced Burnley gaffer Sean Dyche allegedly left his former teammates at Bristol Rovers squirming - when eating WORMS - at the training ground: "Maybe the voice comes from eating worms - he ate them at training," revealed ex-teammate Soren Andersen. BARCELONA ace Lionel Messi puts in extra training sessions at home - by continuously lobbing a ball - over the head of his dog named Hulk! AC TORRELLANO and CD Murada have gained promotion to the Preferente from the Valencia 1st Regional Group 8, with Racing San Miguel finishing third. At the lower echelon of the table CF Monforte, CD Montesinos and Betis Florida are relegated. A 'BOOBY' was dropped at Bristol Rovers during a half time break - when a packed VIP room got an eyeful of X-rated TV channel Babestation - instead of a results round-up bulletin.

Final humiliation as Torry drop to bottom of league
CD Torrevieja 2 Villena CF 3 So, the inevitable has finally been confirmed.  Following last week’s humiliating home defeat at the hands of CFI Alicante, Torry are now officially relegated from the Preferente division into Regional football.  A combination of 5 managerial changes, a 6 point deduction as a result of an avoidable and naive managerial decision, plus an unbelievable number of player comings and goings, have contributed to their downfall.  When you consider that last season’s survival was only achieved courtesy of Calpe´s expulsion from the league, then perhaps the writing was always on the wall.  Oh, and let´s not forget the small matter of a dodgy takeover, by an individual who had previous wrongdoings at a senior club north of Valencia.  Alarm bells should have rung way back last summer, when a number of fans expressed serious doubts on social media as to this individual’s integrity, but alas they fell on deaf ears.  As such, the match against fellow relegation club Villena, has developed into a meaningless end of season kick about.  Although rock bottom and a point behind their hosts, Villena have recorded a few victories in recent weeks.  Ironically, the last time Torry won a match was on 9 December last year, some 17 matches ago, when the opposition were no less than Villena. The game itself saw Torry off to a positive start with early pressure resulting in Augustin forcing an early save from Nando in the Villena goal. The home side were certainly the quicker out of the blocks and when Thales crossed for Xavier to volley into the back of the net with just 9 minutes played the prospects of a first Torry win in 2019 looked a definite possibility. But Football is never what you expect and as the game wore on the visitors, despite sitting rock bottom of the Preferente table, showed that they too are capable of putting their opposition under pressure. A powerful drive from Raul had the beating of young keeper Armando on 20 minutes to level the score and a short period of pressure saw efforts from Chechu and Ruben fly wide of the Torry goal. Thales was frustrated by the legs of Nando on the half hour as the home side came back into the game and Augustin also went close just prior to the interval when a better connection could have restored the home side’s lead. The 2nd period saw the visitors in front within 5 minutes of the restart through Chechu who, moments later, might then have extended the Villena lead with a header that sailed just over. Torry’s Javier saw his shot well saved by Nando but as the visitors once again took control Javi and Ruben both went close. On a rare foray Torry’s Augustin missed an open goal before substitute Moi drilled in a low drive to level the scoreline once again. Unfortunately, almost from the restart, Villena were back in front through Raul, a goal that saw the visitors lift themselves off the bottom of the league, but at Torry’s expense. Next week away to Thader (Rojales) where the games are usually played on Sunday mornings.

JEKYLL AND HYDE TORRY URGENTLY NEED STABILITY
CD UNIVERSITY OF ALICANTE - 3    CD TORREVIEJA - 0 BY STEVE HIBBERD Just when you thought Torry had found an answer to their goal drought, they put in possibly their worst performance of the season.  Rewind 7 days, to when Torry slammed 4 goals past Callosa, at the same time as Alicante University were getting stuffed 6-0 at Independent Alicante.  Conceding 2 late goals against Callosa did appear to have a knock on effect, for against a determined University side, Torry were never at the races.  To make matters worse, next up for Torry are Independent Alicante!  So with now only 3 matches remaining, Torry have still not made headway in overtaking Benidorm, who currently occupy the slot just above the relegation zone.  Yet again, more new signings made debuts for a team, which is now full of strangers!  Columbian Perlaza started his first ever match in Spain, whilst fellow newbies Jumu, and Papa both made appearance off the bench.  Is it any wonder that not only was the distribution diabolical, defending naive, but also a severe lack of fire power, when the team has been changed more times than Mrs May´s declarations on Brexit.  [caption id="attachment_29978" align="aligncenter" width="960"] The Torry faithful[/caption] Rumours persist that an amalgamation between CD and CF Torrevieja is on the cards for next season, the newly formed club allegedly returning to their sacred home of Vicente Garcia stadium.  Whether this be the case or not, there is still a small matter of avoiding relegation to lower league (park) football. A small loyal band of Torry Army fans arrived at the University sports complex, full of hope that the long long wait for that elusive win was about to end.  It didn´t take long for reality to set in, for on 12 minutes Torry´s diminutive keeper Armando did well to push a Fredi goal bound shot onto the bar, then over for a corner.  A well struck corner found Luis unmarked at the near post, his firmly placed header gave Armando no chance.  Torry´s best opportunity of the 1st half (if not the whole match) arrived via a cross cum shot by Thales, which went begging, but alas found no takers.  Shortly afterwards, Benja hit the frame of Torry´s goal, then on the half hour mark, a linesmans flag ruled out University going further ahead.  From there on the 1st half became scrappy, with neither goalies being called upon to earn their keep. [caption id="attachment_29976" align="alignleft" width="193"] New player Perlaza had a decent debut[/caption] Luis forced a fine save from Armando, as the hosts showed clear intentions of recording a double over Torry.  Young Armando came to his teams rescue once again on 59 mins, this time turning over a fierce drive from Benji.  A clear cut penalty for University arrived on 68 mins.  Matias mistimed his tackle on Benja, giving Fredi the opportunity to make it 2-0, from which he sent Armando the wrong way.  Fredi should have scored again 5 minutes later, but he shot wide of an unguarded far post from 10 yards.  He didn´t have to wait long to record a brace, for on 77 mins, the striker blasted a free kick from the edge of the box, around a badly placed wall.  Substitute Pablo hit the bar twice in the dying minutes, as University made light work of dispatching a very poor Torry side. As it´s Santa semana next weekend, there´s no preferente league football over this period.  Torry are next in action on either 27 or 28 April (your guess is as good as mine!), when 4th in the table Independiente Alicante arrive at either Nelson Mandela stadium or Gabriel Samper stadium (your guess is as good as mine!).  Check press for details.

Goals galore but Torry wait for victory goes on
CD TORREVIEJA - 4  CALLOSA DEPORTIVO CF - 4 BY STEVE HIBBERD A slender one goal victory over rock bottom Villena way back in early December, was the last time Torry tasted the sweet success of victory.  That´s a mind blowing 14 matches ago, but had a rocky defence stayed firm, then it would have been lucky 13.  For having got themselves back from being behind, into a match winning position with only seconds remaining, they sadly let victory slip once again.  So, there´s now only 4 matches left from which to somehow conjure up probably 2, if not more, victories.  As this was the only Preferente league match played on Saturday, results from Sunday’s games affecting fellow relegation battlers Villena, Aspe and Benidorm, aren´t known at the time of going to press.  Although this vital point has lifted Torry to 3 points from safety, there are stronger teams than Callosa to come.  Following next weekend’s visit to Alicante University, when incidentally Torry Army are sending a coach, a visit from high flying Independiente Alicante awaits.  Although the last home match at the beginning of May against Villena is winnable, a visit to arch local rivals Thader Rojales rounds off the season.  Manager Jesus Martinez was forced to include recently signed keeper Raul, for Cristo was serving a 1 match ban for his sending off at Elda, as was midfielder Matias.  The first 20 minutes were played in gale force conditions, an electric storm complete with torrential rain, inside Nelson Mandela stadium which offers virtually no protection from the elements.  In fact, all action before this has been recorded by memory, for had I attempted to take written notes, they would have been completely sodden (as were all spectators in the ground, which weren´t that many!). It took only 2 mins for Torry to take the lead, a through ball by Thales which skimmed over the surface to Xavi, who kept his feet before striking a sweet angled shot past the keeper.  Fast forward 7 minutes, when it was Callosa´s turn to provide the action.  An assist by Victor found Salva, whose accurate shot beat Raul just inside his near post.  That was it as regards goals scored before half time, but Torry new boy Raul was definitely the busier of the keepers during the 30 plus minutes that remained. Torry fans have become immune to watching their team concede goals, so it was no surprise when on 55 mins, Salva crossed from the left for Carles to shoot home, putting the visitors ahead.  Substitute keeper Armando got a hand to the ball, but alas he could not prevent it from crossing the line.  Enter the superb Torry fightback.  A short corner by Thales on 62 mins was played into the path of Augustine, resulting in him executing a glorious curling drive, giving keeper Pino no chance.  A couple of minutes later, Torry took the lead.  Once again the Brazilian magician, who goes by the name of Thales, was provider.  His assist to Oleksandr was inviting, and from 25 yards, the Ukrainian unleashed a blockbuster finish.  Substitute Moi hadn´t been on the pitch long before he found Thales in space on 77 mins.  This time Thales elected to go it alone, beating 3 men before dispatching a confident low drive, which should have placed his side out of sight.  But this is Torry we are talking about, and with only 9 minutes remaining, a Salva cross took a wicked deflection off a Torry defender.  The ball sailed across goal into the path of Carles at the far post, giving him the simple task of tapping the ball home.  Then on the stroke of normal time, a loose ball was seized on by Tone, whose surprise snap shot from the edge of the box, sped past Raul into the back of Torry´s net.  Fancy a trip to Alicante University sports complex next Saturday or Sunday, kick off time unknown?  If so, check on CD Torrevieja website, and Torry Army facebook pages for details.

Humiliation for Torry as leaders notch seven
CD Torrevieja 0 CF Intercity 9  ...  By Steve Hibberd There has been much publicity given to Torry’s off field events over recent weeks, most of it fairly negative, but at last there seems to be a glimmer of hope for a brighter and more secure future. It lies in the hands of a ´group´ who are supposedly trying to form a new management committee for this famous old club.  It has been revealed that all of the old committee/directors have resigned (except Graham Knight!), but as the official club website has never shown any names we are none the wiser as to who they were!  A debt of over 60,000 euros has been attributed to the club, and mystery surrounds where the 4,000 euro donation from Torry Army has gone.  It has been intimated that a number of players from higher leagues are to be brought into the club, but unless they are opting to play for nothing, where will the money for their substantial wages bill come from?  All these are questions that remain to be answered! On the playing side, joint managers Kiko Lopez and Paco Guillen must be wondering just what they have taken on, having only recently returned for a second stint at the club, following their earlier resignations, and when you consider that Torry have not won since early December (over at rock bottom Villena), what the pair didn’t want just yet was a game against the runaway league leaders. And on Sunday evening, by half time, and trailing by 0-3, we could all see exactly why Torry were rooted at the opposite end of the table to their visitors. The team was much the same as had turned out in recent weeks so any talk of an influx of new, more experienced players, had seemingly yet to materialise. Apart from a short period of optimism during the early stages Intercity had dominated in all areas of the park, with the home side camped in their own half for long periods of the game. A bright start had earlier seen Alex and Thales both go close, but as the visitors ground their way into the game their superiority soon began to show with Hucha and Luis Garcia creating numerous opportunities from the back. Indeed Hucha was the provider of the first goal midway through the half when he headed down for Israel to run on and steer the ball past Christo to open the scoring. Chances then came in abundance with Hucho, Israel and Luis Garcia all going close for Intercity and as the game progressed, and the Torry youngsters tired, Alexis was under no pressure on 40 minutes as he controlled a ball on his chest from a Juanlu cross, to double the visitors tally. At the other end a genuine appeal was waved away by the referee as Brazilian Thales was bundled over in the Alicante area but as so often happens, the break saw Hucha then take the ball upfield where a theatrical dive saw the referee point to the spot, despite being 40 yards behind play.  Hucha dusted himself off and calmly slotted in the visitors 3rd just prior to the teams trooping off the half time break. If the first half saw Torry caught in a storm the second period saw them completely enveloped in a hurricane as the visitors added a further four goals to their tally as Rafa, Hucha with 2 and an own goal from Tomi inflicted Torrevieja worst defeat in recent years. Quite where they go from here no-one knows but with rumours suggesting takeovers, new players and amalgamations there is still a lot more to be written about this club before we will have the final solutions. Next week, Aspe, we are told a Saturday kick off.

Racing San Miguel report CF Torrevieja to the Valencia Football Federation for 'dismantling' their club has been published at http://www.theleader.info/2019/02/27/racing-san-miguel-report-cf-torrevieja-to-the-valencia-football-federation-for-dismantling-their-club/

Racing San Miguel report CF Torrevieja to the Valencia Football Federation for 'dismantling' their club
By Andrew Atkinson EXCLUSIVE Racing San Miguel have reported CF Torrevieja to the Valencia FA in relation to the 'poaching' of players from the club - deemed a 'dismantling'. "From the Racing San Miguel CF, we want to show our rejection towards the way of proceeding of Torrevieja CF, in relation to the ways of contacting our base football players," said a spokesperson from the club. Preference club CF Torrevieja, struggling near the foot of the table, signed Racing San Miguel prodigy David this month, as exclusively reported in The Leader newspaper. Now the San Miguel based outfit have aired their views against CF Torrevieja, revealing, according to the club, underhand tactics in luring players away. "Since the beginning of the season it has been repeating the same situation," added a club spokesperson. "There are several cases in which this club has been in direct contact with parents, and even, in certain cases, directly with underage players. "This is without previously communicating with our club, of which they are a part and have a valid record of players," said the spokesperson. Racing San Miguel, who top the Valencia 1st Regional Group 8, pride their club in bringing through players, from youth level, to that of senior first team players. "We are a small club, with only one team per category, which in some cases we have problems to complete the templates, and we are very affected by this situation," they added. "We do not know the situation of Torrevieja CF, a club that boasts of having a great school and an agreement with a great first division club, so that it needs to dismantle our school that we work so hard to get ahead," said the spokesperson. "We are proud that players trained in our house are intended by other clubs. "But given that the ways of proceeding have not been correct - at any time - we communicate that we will not allow any player to leave, except with a valid card, in what remains seasonal," they added. Racing San Miguel are so agast at CF Torrevieja that they have put in an official complaint to the Valencia Football Federation. "From the club, we announce that we have already transferred the case to the Federation to know what measures we can take in this situation," said the spokesperson. And Racing San Miguel are so infuriated with the actions of CF Torrevieja that they say they have cut all relations between the two clubs. "Given the above, we communicate, that we break any kind of relationship with Torrevieja CF," added the spokesperson.
