And Aiura would just let Akechi do things out at his own pace (because he would experiment and try different things out of his own natural curiosity), so she wouldn't frog boil him either (and he would notice that sort of thing immediately anyways).

Actually I love talking about ships and have been convinced before, but I personally have a very narrow definition of "ship" so it's not easy lol. For me to say I ship a pairing/throuple/etc, I have to see a strong potential for a happy long-term relationship in which all involved parties can feel like they're living their best life.

I think similar childhood experiences for bonding is a fine base for a friendship, and I see where you're coming from. But I'm thinking more of the practical aspects of a romantic relationship (especially since Akechi is pretty ace-coded imo and even if he wasn't, Toritsuka is never going to be good at sex anyways let's be real lmao).

Can they have conversations? Due to his gag character nature, Akechi's chatter only becomes fun when he can direct the subject to something of interest for the listener. What topics does Toritsuka show interest in besides porn? Not that Akechi wouldn't have much to say about porn, but honestly I don't think Toritsuka would be very interested in the historical, societal, and cultural influences on porn. He wants to see titty!! And that's valid.

But it leaves them with very little to say and there's no way Toritsuka would be able to be a good audience to Akechi's rants. Zoning out and thinking about girls is the best he can do, and if Akechi wanted to talk to a wall then he wouldn't want friends so much rip!

They can talk about Toritsuka's powers but Toritsuka himself doesn't know much about them. Kusuke would be a way better source of information considering he taught Toritsuka how to use his own powers, and Akechi can beat Saiki easily, so he can handle Kusuke just fine.

By "chew toy" I meant like the exact kind of teasing/messing around that you mention, not literal chewing haha. Just like how Saiki can let off a little steam by bullying Toritsuka a little bit (pretty much always morally correct), I think Akechi needs to do a crazy little prank every once in a while for his own enrichment. And he's just as smart as Kusuke, who had Toritsuka upside and backwards effortlessly, so Akechi could do the same! He's not going to because he's actually super kind and nice despite being super villain-coded, but he'll definitely have Toritsuka chasing his own tail for a while. And fake flirting is an extremely easy way to do it.

But still, that can happen just fine in a friends with benefits situation, or even friends without benefits lmao.

It's just that I don't see what Toritsuka could possibly bring into the relationship to benefit Akechi, y'know? Akechi could easily make him the happiest man alive but doesn't Akechi deserve something too?

Like, you could argue that I'm being unfair here because what could Toritsuka bring to Torisai? But he DOES help Saiki, and we see it in canon: he gives Saiki a space to be himself fully, even the ugly bits of himself, without any shame.

But Akechi doesn't need that because he already has no shame hsfjdlshfks. So what's in it for him??

While I think they can be friends with benefits, I can't think of any way they could realistically be best friends, much less lovers/spouses. ^^; They have no interests in common (maybe like... crazy murders? but that's it) and Toritsuka can't put up with Akechi's chatter at all. Toritsuka is also a very simple & predictable guy... Akechi would get bored of him so fast... Akechi would have less patience for Toritsuka's crimes than Saiki too, he's too chaotic good. He'd quickly figure out when a ghost is in control too, so Toritsuka can't cheat his way through it. And Akechi's ace, so there's just nothing in that relationship for him... 😔

In general, Toritsuka getting developed more and gaining interests would help. Also a big fat dose of patience lol. Or I guess you could make Akechi boring by making him less intelligent or less villain-coded? But then that would making him boring 🥺 Maybe make him not ace and then there's some sexual attraction there??

I do still like them as besties with benefits. Toritsuka is a great chew toy and I think messing with him on occasion is definitely fun for Akechi. And Akechi definitely wouldn't mind showing Toritsuka a good time sometimes. But yeah I can't see anything long-term / permanent between them. Sorry... 😔
