Little Insomniac (J. Seresin)
Pairing: Jake Seresin x roommate!reader
Summary: You're dealing with an ongoing struggle to sleep, and Jake wants to help. Volume Two
Warnings: nothing really, just fluff.
Word Count: 3k
MY WORK IS ORIGNIAL AND IS NOT TO BE COPIED OR REPOSTED ELSEWHERE. Be kind and don't steal other people's writing, thank you.
Gif creds: @jakeseresins
Jake stirs awake before his alarm has the chance to go off. Yawning, he wipes the sleep from his eyes before groggily reaching for his phone to check the time. 5:45, it reads, though he has to squint to make sure because his eyes are still bleary from just waking up. He lets himself yawn one more time before moving to sit at the edge of his bed, a gentle grunt falls from his lips as he enjoys his first big stretch of the day, preparing his muscles for his usual morning run.
Knowing that he’ll have plenty of time to get ready once he’s back, he swaps his sweatpants out for a pair of running shorts and slips on a coordinating shirt. He turns toward his bedside table to grab his headphones, immediately sticking them into his ears and scrolling through his phone to find his playlist, “Run Like Hell.” His head gently bobs to the best of the music once he’d hit shuffle as he finishes getting ready by sliding his running shoes on.
He makes sure to walk quietly as he passes your room. You won’t be waking up for another hour, at least, and he’s not keen on giving you a wake up call sooner than you have planned. He accidentally woke you up one morning shortly after the two of you signed this lease and it resulted in a rather heated reprimand from a rather hungover, half asleep, version of you that came stumbling out of your room with a baseball bat thinking someone broke in. Since then, he’s intentionally light on his feet, careful not to cause another scene.
Jake smiles at the memory of your disheveled state. You were slightly tipsy from the night before with pillow lines on your face and an unruly bun knotted on top of your head as you incoherently scolded him for nearly giving you a heart attack. In that moment, all he could do was blink at you like a deer in the headlights, trying not to focus too much on the fact that all you were wearing was an oversized shirt that covered everything above your mid thighs, leaving your toned legs on full display.
His trip to memory lane is clouded with confusion when he notices light radiating through the hallway from the living room. He got home after you did last night and swore he shut the lamp off before retreating to his bedroom. His feet carry him toward the light, stopping in the tracks when he notices your form on the couch. You’re seated comfortably with your feet splayed on the coffee table balancing your laptop on your knees, wearing that same damn t-shirt.
“What’re you doing up? You never beat me,” he questions, pulling one earphone out and adjusting the volume on his phone so he can hear you. His presence had gone unnoticed by you, so the sudden question made you jump in, your head snapping toward him in shock.
“Jesus Jake,” your hand flies to your heart in an attempt to ease its rapid beating, a quiet “whew” falling from your lips as you compose yourself, tilting the screen of your laptop down so you can see him better. “Why do move so quiet? You scared me half to death!”
“Sorry darlin’, I didn’t mean to scare you. Just surprised to see you awake so early. Like I said, you never beat me,” there’s an apologetic smile etched onto Jake’s soft features. He scratches the back of his head sheepishly, his eyes never leaving you when he moves into the kitchen to grab a water bottle, promptly opening it and taking a swig. He stalks back to the living room, wordlessly offering you the water, which you gladly accept.
“Can you actually categorize it as beating you if I haven’t slept?” you ask after gulping the cool liquid down. You hand the bottle back to him, nuzzling deeper into your position on the couch when he moves to sit next to you, pulling his other earbud out so that you know you have his full attention.
He stares at you in confusion after processing what you said. Sure, your sleeping patterns have always been odd to him, but a night of not seeming at all raises several questions, “You didn’t sleep?”
“No,” you sigh, completely closing your computer and discarding it onto the coffee table in front of you.
“Why not? I thought you said that you're ahead at work and don't have to stress about extra planning?" He slings his arm over the back of the couch, his fingers barely brushing across the fabric of your t-shirt. He ignores the temptation to drop his hand from the coach so that it rests fully on your shoulder, knowing it's not the time to tease the butterflies awakening in his stomach at the faint smell of your perfume.
"I am," you affirm looking over at him, his close proximity has you feeling at ease with a hint of bashfulness. "It's not work. It's nothing like that really. I just-I don't know, I can spend the entire day exhausted but I'm wide awake as soon as my head hits a pillow."
Jake nods, pulling his attention away from you to ponder if there's anything he can do. After a few seconds of comfortable silence, he returns his gaze to you, taking notice of the prominent bags under your eyes. Your exhaustion coats your features, coating you with a dreamlike state while you zone out on nothing. He bumps your shoulder gently, stealing your attention back. "Is there something bothering you?"
Your head shakes in response, an involuntary yawn falling from your parted lips. You pull your legs up to your chest, hooking your arms around them to hold them in place, and it takes everything in Jake's power to not focus on the fact that the movement made your oversized t-shirt rise up. He clears his throat, returning his thoughts back to the conversation rather than continuing to mentally admire your effortless beauty.
"Okay," he hums, "Well, can you at least take the day off to let yourself rest? I'm sure you'd crash if you got in bed now."
"I can't," you groan, running a hand over your face in frustration. "We have a major meeting today, and I'm running it because ninety-five percent of the team can't manage to do their jobs." There's a sympathetic look sent your way which only adds to the helplessness embedding itself in your entire being. All your impending schedule brings you is an unshakable dread due to how desperately sleep deprived you already feel.
"Okay," he repeats, standing from the couch. "Well, since you can't get out of it today, what do you say we go grab breakfast at that coffee shop you like downtown? My treat. It's not sleep, but it's the best I can do unless you're willing to let me call your boss and telling him to postpone the meeting."
You blink at him, a lazy smile twitching at the edge of your lips. "You know you don't have to do that right? I'm a big girl and can caffeinate myself."
"I know, but I want to. Besides, there's no way in hell I'm letting your sleep deprived ass drive yourself around town today. The last thing this town needs is a delirious Y/n Y/l/n operating a vehicle. Now, how about you go put some pants on so you don't catch a public indecency charge?" He's shooting you his signature 'Seresin smirk' now, which you can't refuse, so you take his outstretched hand and let him help you up.
******************
A few days later, you're parked in that same position on the couch with your legs strewn over Jake's lap as the two of you watch the latest episode of 'The Rookie." There's been a comfortable silence in the room for awhile now, both of you fully engrossed in what's playing on the screen. Jake's fingers periodically draw circles against your clothed shins, a mindless habit of his that you've grown to love, while he makes a few side comments about Tim and Lucy's relationship Which you, being a lover of the slow burning couple, always agree with.
The episode comes to a close, leaving you both with anticipation for the shows continuation next week. Watching the Rookie became a weekly tradition when you became roommates after Jake came home from the bar one night, interrupting your peaceful binge watching. He made fun of the show at first, but forced you to restart it completely because he wanted to be completely caught up on everything it had to offer before deciphering whether or not he liked it. It took measly three episodes and he was hooked, which he denied by telling you he only watches it to bond with you. The way he lost himself in the screen, laughing and cracking jokes, was a tell-tale sign that he was hooked.
“It's late, I’m gonna head to bed,” Jake tells you after several unspoken moments, standing from his comfortable position and carefully repositioning your legs on the cushions. He stretches with a hefty yawn, running a hand over his face. You wordlessly watch him, enjoying the extra gravel to his voice that always comes when he's tired. “Want me to turn the lights off?”
“I'll get them. I think I’m going to be up awhile," you decline, straightening up to reach for the journal you left on the table before he came home.
“Still not sleeping?” He yawns again, watching as you get situated in a manner that tells him you are gearing for a long night.
You scoff, shaking your head in response to his question. One glance his way fills you in on the fact that he wants more of an explanation than that. "I've averaged maybe eight hours total this week, if you can count the baby naps my assistant lets me take during breaks. I swear I could run a marathon and still not be exhausted enough to encourage my body to rest."
“What about this? How about you let me take you to bed and we’ll try something new to help you sleep," he offers. Hope fills his green eyes momentarily before draining when you snort comically.
"Hangman, are you using my sleep deprivation as an excuse to get in my pants? I know I'm undeniably attractive, but that's a new level of low, even for Jake 'the heartbreaker' Seresin," you hadn't meant for the words to spill from your lips and regret them almost immediately. Yet, your raised eyebrows challenge him rather than showing any sign of lighthearted remorse.
“I’m going to blame your hostility on sleep deprivation instead of taking what you just said personally,” there’s a playful grin curved onto his cheeks as he peers down at the disdained expression you’re directing at him. “Now, come on grumpy, let’s get you some sleep,” You groan when he grabs your hands, shifting his weight so he can pull you off the couch. You fight against him, not wanting to let go of the comfortable position you’d fallen into. “Jesus, would you stop being a brat.” He can’t help but laugh as you continue making yourself dead weight to lessen his chances of dragging you off the couch. “Fine, two can play at this game.”
“What-JAKE,” an involuntarily squeal of surprise bubbles from your chest when he bends down, both his hands on your hips, and slings you over his shoulder effortlessly. He laughs as you smack against his back while he flicks the lights off, guiding the two of you toward your room.
“Put me down peasant,” you chant through your own fit of giggles. He simply shakes his head at your antics, carefully weaving through your bedroom before dropping you on top of your bed in a heap. Your giggles die down the longer you admire his lighthearted expression. You cough to try to keep yourself from ogling him like an idiot. It’s hard not to when he’s staring at you like you’re the creator of the jet planes he loves so much. “Couldn’t have given me a gentler landing?”
Jake rolls his eyes, feigning a scoff. “You asked me to put you down, and I put you down. Don’t go giving me a bad yelp review because you weren’t more specific, princess.” There’s a slight twinkle in his eye as the nickname flows off his tongue, smooth as silk. You mentally curse the involuntary heat rushing to your cheeks at the pet name, unable to suppress a bashful smile.
“Fair point,” you reply simply, fighting to keep yourself from spiraling at the sight of your roommate still towering over your splayed figure. He’d showered about an hour ago so his normally styled hair is laying against his forehead comfortably, the scent of his body wash ghosts your nostrils as he scratches the back of his neck, making it even harder not to swoon because he smells so good. “Are you going to tell me what your master plan to help me sleep is, or should I go ahead and preorder extra shots of espresso to keep me functioning tomorrow?”
Jake straightens up at the realization that he’d gotten sidetracked from his initial plan, a dubious grin plasters itself on his face as he moves to turn my bedroom light off, carefully making his way back to my bed in the dark.
“Jake, I hate to break it to you but simply putting me into bed isn’t going to help me sleep, if that’s all it took-what’re you doing?” Your question is left unanswered as he pulls the covers back on the side of the bed you’re not laying on, pausing to stare at you through the dark.
“I’m climbing in bed,” he states like it’s the most obvious thing in the world, fully situating himself under the covers. You stare at him like he’s got two heads, not understanding how his master plan to get you to sleep involves him fully being in bed with you. You’ve had daydreams about curling up in bed with him, falling asleep to the even rhythm of his heart beat, but those were simply fantasies about the man you have a complicated crush on because, well, he’s your roommate. Of course, the two of you are close enough that you’ve fallen asleep on his shoulder on more than one occasion but it’s never been intention and those moments definitely haven’t occurred in a bed.
“You’re in my bed,” you observe, still frozen in place on top of the covers.
“Yes, Y/n, I’m in your bed. Now, would you stop being difficult? Get your ass up here and let me do my job,” his voice is gentle but holds a certain demand that has you obliging immediately. Climbing up next to him, you allow him to lift the covers so that you can slide under them. You leave a comfortable amount of space between the two of you, though it feels awkward with the heat radiating from his body. “What the hell are you doing?”
“What? You told me to climb in with you, so I climbed in with you?” An exasperated groan sounds from his side of the bed, earning an embarrassed blush from you, completely at a loss as to what you did wrong. “It’s not my fault that you’ve managed to leave out legitimately every detail of your master plan.”
In response, Jake’s arms wrap around your waist, immediately tugging you closer to him until you’re practically laying on top of him. “Get comfortable, sweetheart,” he murmurs simply, as if him holding you in your bed is a normal occurrence that shouldn’t have a fit of butterflies going rampant in your stomach. “Stop overthinking it and get situated.” His request comes after a few beats of you remaining frozen in the awkward position he pulled you into. You lift your head to meet his eyes, looking for affirmation that you’re hearing him right. When his hand trails over your face to brush your hair from your eyes, you suck in an audible breath, the gentle touch sending shivers down your spine as he leans his head close enough to yours that his breath fans against your face. “Let me hold you tonight."
"Okay," you breathe, carefully rolling onto your stomach. You shift yourself just enough to comfortably rest your head against his chest, fully allowing yourself relax into him as the faint sound of his heartbeat greets your ears. Jake's arms find a home around your waist again, a content sigh falling from his lips at the fact that you're fully nuzzled into him.
"Comfy?" His question is hopeful as he mindlessly draws comforting circles on your back, the simple movement paired with the comfort of his arms already causing your eyes to grow heavy.
"So comfy," you yawn, melting into him further. One of your hands fist his t-shirt while his find a spot in your hair, gently massaging your scalp.
"Good," he kisses the crown of your head, secretly feeling pleased by the way you're already fighting to keep your eyes open after seeming confident that he couldn't do anything to cure your insomnia. "Get some rest, sweetheart." You don't need his permission to sleep, but his words are the final thing you remember before slipping into a sweet slumber.
Jake knows you're out by the way your body grows a little heavier. Light snores fall from your lips every so often, warming his chest at the fact that you feel safe enough to let him assist you. While tiredness scratches the back of his eyes, he can't keep himself from observing your sleeping figure, a soft smile curves onto his lips at the adorable sight. As your roommate, he doesn't want to admit it, but he's dreamed of a moment like this from the second the two of you signed the lease for this place. Neither of you had been each others first choice in the roommate department, but after so long of roommates falling through, he proposed the idea and you accepted. You were friends back then, but weren't close enough for sharing an apartment to feel normal. Yet, when the time came to move in, your lives melted together seamlessly.
Jake's hand continues weaving through your hair, the act making him feel soft while you sleep soundly on his chest. He can't help but admire your peaceful features now that all signs of stress and exhaustion are erased from your face. You've always been attractive to Jake but right now, while you're snoring softly on his chest, he swears you're the most beautiful sight he's ever laid eyes on.
It's harder for him to continue fighting his own sleep the longer the peace of the night weighs on his eyelids so he carefully shifts the two of you into a more comfortable position. He holds his breath when you stir, but releases it when your head lulls back to place on his chest.
"Sweet dreams, pretty girl," he finds himself whispering, giving you one last glance before letting his eyes flutter shut. They snap back open when you mumble incoherently in your sleep, a sigh rolling from your parted lips.
"I love you Jake," the words are slightly slurred when they roll from your tongue, but Jake hears them clear as day. His eyes widen in surprise, never having heard you utter those words. He feels humbled by the unconscious confession, his heart swelling at the thought of the words holding an unshakeable truth.

A Father's Comfort
Request: hey lovie
I just went through a pretty nasty break up (not because of him and I) and I tried to explain everything to my friends and some family what happened by they all thought I had done something wrong. The only person who had my back was my dad, he was the only one who would listen and told me it wasn’t my fault.
anyways I was wondering if you could write a maverick x daughter reader where she broke up with her boyfriend and tried to get some reassurance from friends and family (maybe just some of Pete’s old friends) but they just thought she was the mess up (maybe they were just extremely passive aggressive) so she just tried to laugh off the jokes. Maybe eventually Pete finds out through the chain that she broke up with the boy so he tried to go confront/comfort her and she tried to make jokes and in the middle of “laughing” she started crying. Then maverick just jumps into loving father mode and comforts her.
maybe the reader is like 16-17
thank you and 100% your choice
Pairings: Maverick x Daughter!Reader
Warnings: cheating, angst, fluff, asshole boyfriends, asshole Chipper, asshole Sundown, asshole Merlin
A/N: Hopefully you caught the Grease reference. I'm so sorry you had a rough break up and sorry I got this out late. If you need to talk my messages and asks are always open.
You didn’t know what happened. You thought your relationship with Justin was going great. You loved him and he loved you or so you thought. It was after school when it happened you were getting ready to leave the parking lot. You had just arrived at your Toyota Tacoma when Justin strolled up to you. You smiled when you saw him and greeted him with a kiss but he pulled away and turned his head so that you kissed his cheek this confused you. “Everything ok?” You had asked him.
“I think we should break up.” He said and your heart broke.
“What why?” You asked
“I don’t love you and never did. Besides I’m going out with Teresa.” He said and your face drained.
“How long has that been going on?” You asked now furious but still heart broken.
“A month after we got together.” He said and our eyes began to sting with tears. “We can still be friends.” He said and you didn’t say anything. He started to walk away but still close enough to you when you shouted at him.
“Lose my number and never talk to me again.” You said and he turned around.
“I’ve already lost it.” He said with a proud smirk on his face while yours was a frown.
“All I want to know is why.” You asked
“You’re too clingy. You never wanted to go further. At least Teresa is willing.” He said and then walked off and now you were truly alone. You got into your truck and drove home somehow not crashing. When you pulled into the driveway you recognized most of the cars as being Top Gun’s Class of ’86.
You parked in your original spot and killed the engine and headed inside of the house. It was loud and from the looks of it some of them had been drinking. You knew they were coming over for a cookout that your dad had planned and you were looking forward to it too until now. You knew you looked awful and you just wanted to escape upstairs and into your room. The plan was going smoothly until Hollywood saw you and smiled and went over and hugged you.
“Mini Mav! How are you?” He asked and you could tell that he had been drinking some but you were respectful and greeted him back because that is what your father taught you.
“I’m fine.” You said with a smile that didn’t quite reach your ear and your eyes weren’t as bright but he couldn’t tell that but two people could, Ice and Slider. They weren’t drinking as much because they tended not to and the thought of hangovers now killed them, when they were younger, they were fine with it but not now plus someone had to be a little bit sober while Maverick and Goose were gone to pick some stuff up and to deal with the rowdy ’86 bunch.
“You seem down. What’s up?” He asked pulling you into him uncomfortably and you nervously laughed and looked at Ice and Slider for help.
“My boyfriend and I broke up.” You said and got out of his hold by now most of everyone was paying attention to you.
“What happened?” Chipper asked as he took a drink of his beer.
“He said I was too clingy. He also cheated on me after a month of dating.” You said with your head hanging down.
“Well, were you clingy? Is that why he started cheating on you.?” He asked and you looked up at him with a shocked expression and everyone laughed but Ice and Slider.
“No, I texted him asking him to hang out but that is what boyfriends and girlfriends are supposed to do. I also just wanted to know how his day was each day and text him good morning and good night. I also just wanted to spend more time with him and make plans and he never answered and I just send him ideas. He also wanted to go further and I didn’t want to.” You said in an exasperated voice. Chipper scoffed and rolled his eyes.
“Don’t take this the wrong way, but they don’t have to hang out with each other 24/7.” He said and you could feel tears stinging your eyes.
“Chipper.” Ice said sternly not liking the look on your face and he looked at him.
“What? If she’s being clingy and doesn't want to go further, I know how teenage boys are, then I see why he was cheating on her.” He said to Ice and then turned back to you “Just a friendly reminder, try not to be so clingy next time and just go further.” He said and a tear slipped out and down your already tear-stained cheeks. Sundown scoffed.
“You’re being too sensitive about it. Just let it go. I don’t mean to be rude but it sounds like it is your fault that he cheated on you.” Sundown said and more tears fell down.
“Cheating on you was a surprisingly good decision on his part. If you were texting him all the time and wanting to hang out all the time, my girlfriend doesn’t even text me that much and I’m perfectly fine with that.” Merlin said and took a drink of his drink.
“That’s enough guys. You’re upsetting her.” Slider said and walked over to you and brought you into a hug.
“No, it’s ok. I’m just going to go up to my room. Oh, where is dad and Goose?” You asked, looking at him sniffling.
“They went to the store to grab some things. They’ll be back in like 10 minutes. I’ll let your dad know that you’re upstairs.” He said and hugged you which you returned and hugged him back and then when you released each other you started up the stairs to your room where you shut your door and fell face first into your pillow and began to cry.
Just like Slider said Maverick and Goose arrived back home and everyone had gone back to normal but Ice and Slider looked annoyed. Maverick and Goose put the bags down and then walked over to them. “What’s wrong?” Maverick asked, noticing that they hadn’t even touched the rest of their drinks.
“Where’s Y/N/N?” Goose asked, also looking at the two.
“She’s upstairs and you need to go and check on her.” Ice said and before Maverick could ask why Slider spoke up.
“She broke up with Justin.” Out of all the ’86 class Ice, Slider, and Goose were closest to the Mitchell girl “Everyone was passive aggressive to her. She took off upstairs. She’s really upset about it.” Slider said and Maverick nodded, pissed that the others would be so hateful to his daughter. They know better even if they have been drinking. Goose was pissed too, that was his goddaughter for crying out loud. He turned to Maverick.
“Go check on her. We’ll deal with the others.” Goose said and Maverick nodded and headed upstairs. He came to his daughter’s door and knocked.
“Hey, Sweetheart. Is it ok if I come in?” Maverick asked and waited for a minute.
“Yea.” You said in a quiet voice and he walked in to see you at your desk doing homework but could see your tear-stained cheeks and his heart broke. He went over and sat on your bed. You spun your desk chair and looked at him.
“Ice and Slider told me what happened.” He said
“They’re right. It’s my fault.” You began
“No- “He started but you cut him off with a laugh.
“I mean I probably texted him too much and that is why he cheated on me.” You said with a chuckle but could feel tears welling up.
“Honey- “Maverick said as his heart was breaking.
“I also didn’t want to go any further when we were making out and he would get annoyed. So why not cheat on me with someone that is willing to do something like that right?” You asked even though it didn’t require an answer. “I’m the stupid one and the one to blame.” You said slowly losing it and Maverick just sat there not saying anything and waiting for you to finish “Sundown is right I’m just being too sensitive and so is Merlin cheating on me was the right thing to do. I’m just a screw up and will always be a screw up.” You were looking anywhere but him. You were laughing until you weren’t and then you began to sob with your head in your heads and Maverick felt tears of his own.
Maverick pulled your chair over to him and pulled you into a hug and you leaned into him and wrapped your arms around him and buried your head into his shoulder. “You’re not a screw up. You’re a wonderful person and anybody would be lucky to have you, I know I am.” He said and tightened his hold on you. “You will always be my girl no matter what.” He said “You’re young and still have time to figure out what love is. Who knows the right one may be living in the house just across the street.” He said, hinting at Bradley but you were too upset to figure it out.
“Thank you, Dad. I love you too.” You said he brought you so he was looking at you at arm’s length.
“Anything for my best girl.” He said and brought his hands to your face and wiped the still falling tears with his thumbs. They say the only man a girl can depend on is her daddy and you found out that was true that day. You were glad to have him in your life.

Extra sweetened Sugar—Jake Seresin (An Arrangement series oneshot)
author's note: just a lil oneshot
An Arrangement Masterlist
Follow here for all updates as I do not have a taglist
word count: 2.5k
warnings: consumption of alcohol
Feedback, asks, comments/reblogs mean the world to me!
Enjoy!
You’re usually pretty good about handling your alcohol, you don’t mix and you can tell when your cut off limit should be but with everything going on with Betty and the new ‘relationship’ with Jake, you exceeded your limits. Normally, you don’t go out with your employees, Serena, Dom and Brynne but after a rough week of late deliveries, an extended stay on Betty’s part and eating dinner alone at Jake’s, you needed a night out.
They took you to the best known dive bar that served cheap rail drinks and the best cheese fries you’d ever tasted. After your second strawberry daiquiri, you were spilling about Jake’s arrangement and they listened with open ears and wide eyes.
“I say sign it, girl,” Brynne says placing her decorative umbrella in her hair. “He’s hot, he’s attentive, and he’s loaded.”
“I agree,” Dom says, “if you feel guilty using it for yourself, then keep using it for Betty. I bet the sex is great with him.”
“We haven’t had sex!” you nearly choke on your cherry that was placed in your bright red drink.
“Are you crazy? Girl, he wants you so bad,” Brynne shakes her head.
“C’mon guys, you know how y/n is,” Serena pats your back, “she’s thinking of all angles. You have to admit, it does all seem too good to be true.”
“What do you mean?” Dom asks.
“I don’t get why it’s me, he could have someone way better looking and–”
Dom clapped his hand over your mouth, his eyes stern and shaking his head.
“No, you’re cute and adorable and sexy and he’s right to have chosen you. You’re the cream of the crop, the diamond in the rough, the–”
“I think she gets it,” Brynne removes his hand from your mouth. “But Dom’s right. Jake’s probably caught in his feelings and this arrangement guidelines crap, he’s not sure what to do. But he wants you, that’s for sure.”
“But how do you know?” you stress and slap your hand on the high-top table for added emphasis.
“It’s in his eyes,” Serena answers, sipping at her apple martini carefully. “He looks at you like he’s never seen daylight or has experienced a sunset for the first time.”
“Impossible,” you shake your head.
“No, it’s true, babes,” Dom says. “He’ll confess his love to you soon, I’m sure of it.”
“I don’t want to get too into my feelings about this,” you wave your hands as if the conversation of Jake would disappear like an etch-a-sketch. “Let’s drink because the work week is done.”
“Hear, hear!” Dom clinks his glass with yours.
But the more you drink the more Jake keeps coming into your mind. The more you drink the more you think of his green eyes and back to what he meant about pleasuring you in your flower shop. What did that mean? Were you that seducible? Could you succumb so easily to his advances?
While your three friends were at the bar getting more drinks and shots, you found yourself scrolling through Jake’s social media profiles. It really was unbelievable how attractive he was and the fact that he was somewhat yours? You knew if you texted him you needed money for drinks he would transfer some over instantly.
Everyone else thought it was a good idea but it was your good conscience that kept interrupting. Was that a bad thing or a good thing? Peering over your third daiquiri of the night that your friends were still busy, you thought it was a good idea to call him.
It rang and rang and rang then went to his voicemail so you left a message.
“Hello, it’s me,” you sigh, “I’m out at Crazy Pete’s or Pete’s Crazy Saloon or something like that with Brynne, Dom and Serena and they think I should sign the arrangement. They think you’re hot. And it will help Betty. Your money not your hotness. Anywho, I’m a liiiitle tipsy and these daiquiris are very yummy. I don’t know where Reynolds is but I’ll get home. I do think you’re cute by the way so don’t think I don’t, okay?”
And for good measure, you went to Snapchat, chose a filter that placed pretty purple butterflies on your cheeks and took a dozen selfies before sending them to him via text message. It made you feel giddy inside because you were wearing one of his outfits he bought for you.
By that time, everyone else came back and you took a lemon drop shot, making sure to lick up the sugar on the lemon thinking how you’d want to kiss Jake with sugar on your lips.
The night went on and when you came out of the bathroom for the third time, someone else was standing at the table with your friends. When you came closer, you caught a whiff of the familiar scent of Jake’s cologne and when he turned around, it was Jake.
“Jake! What are you doing here?” you squeak but lean into him nonetheless.
“I got your voicemail and adorable selfies so I wanted to stop by and make sure you were okay,” he wraps an arm around your shoulders making sure you don’t fall over. “You didn’t respond to my texts at all, Sugar.”
“I’m sorry,” you pout, “I was having fun.”
“I know,” he caresses your pout away, “have all the fun you want, I’m not stopping you. Just want to make sure you get home safe since Reynolds isn’t here.”
“Reynolds is a babe,” Dom points his finger at Jake. “Is he single?”
“I’m pretty sure he is, yeah,” Jake smiles, “want me to put in a good word for you?”
“Shut up! Yes, please!” Dom nods his head enthusiastically.
“Aw, you two would make a lovely couple!” you gush leaning over the table to cup Dom’s cheeks together. “You have such a handsome face and he has a cute one. He could drive you everywhere.”
“That’s his job for you, Sugar,” Jake murmurs in your ear. His voice tickles your lobe and it makes you giggle, pulling away from Dom.
“When he’s not with me,” you turn your neck to him, it causes your noses to touch. “I’m usually with you, right? So they can go out when we’re out.”
“I like that idea,” he smiles. His arm drops around your waist. “Can I get you anything to eat?”
“Pizza!” you and the rest shout in excitement.
“I’ll be right back,” he gives you a chaste kiss to the temple, sets you on the seat and then heads towards the bar.
“Girl,” Dom squeals grabbing your wrist. “Please, sign the papers, take him to bed, marry him, I don’t care. He’s a keeper.”
You turn around in your seat, teetering a little from the off kilter chair legs to watch him converse with the bartender. You know he’s smiling and being his charming self and it warms your heart, he really is wonderful and you decide to let him know when he comes back.
“Pizza’s on the way and I brought over some water,” Jake announces upon his return. Before he can set the pitcher down, you throw your arms around him. “Woah! Careful, darlin’.”
“Thank you for coming here and ordering pizza when you didn’t have to,” you murmur in his shoulder/neck.
“You’re welcome, Sugar. Wanted to see you, you’ve been comin’ home late,” he kisses the top of your head. Butterflies form in your stomach.
“We try telling her to to go home at a reasonable hour,” Serena interjects, “but she doesn’t listen.”
“Yeah, order her to go home on time, Lieutenant,” Dom smirks.
You stick your tongue out at Dom which he responds with a kiss in the air in your direction.
“I’m not in the air force so that won’t work,” you huff.
“And I like her feistiness,” Jake squeezes your waist.
He’s a good sport for the rest of the evening, taking care of you by making sure you’re drinking enough water and keeps guard outside the bathroom door while you use it. It’s when you hobble on your feet that he decides it’s time to go home. To your surprise and true to his word, he calls Reynolds up to take your friends home, Dom fixes his shirt and hair in preparation.
“You take care of our girl, okay?” Brynne says over your head as she hugs you.
“With my life,” Jake vows. “You three get on home, safe, now. I’ll make sure you’re over for brunch and a pool day soon.”
“Wow, you’re the whole package,” Serena says.
“Serena!” you gasp but Jake just laughs.
“I’m working on this one to see that,” he pinches your cheek affectionately. “Ready, Sugar?”
“Yeah,” you sigh heavily, “my feet hurt.”
“They do?” he frowns and secures your cross body bag over his own before lifting you up into his arms. “We can’t have your feet hurtin’.”
“What are you doing?!” you shriek clinging onto his shoulders for dear life. The sudden movement from standing to being held threw your inebriated self off.
“Carrying you,” he replies smugly and starts walking to his truck.
“My feet aren’t broken.”
“But they hurt, so I’m helping. And when I help you, what are you supposed to say?”
You mumble in response.
“What? I didn’t catch that?” he drops his head lower so his ear is closer to your mouth.
“Thank you!” you nearly shout then giggle when he dramatically pulls away.
While he carries you it gives you an opportunity to stare at him. He’s got a bit of beard growth going on and you barely think once before pressing your palm to his chin and cheek.
“Is it illegal to have a beard in the Air Force?”
“Not illegal, no,” he grins, “we just have to be clean-shaven. It’s not fun when you’re sweatin’ in the cockpit with a beard. I don’t know how Rooster does it with his ‘stache.”
“Rooster?” you laugh. “Who’s that?”
“My wingman, he has a 70’s porno stache and I don’t know how he can work with that thing over his lip,” Jake shakes his head.
“His name is really Rooster?”
“No, sweet girl, that’s his call sign. We all have them, so we know who’s who in the air and the enemy doesn’t really know who we are.”
“Oh,” you continue to stroke your fingers over his cheek and jaw. “What’s your callsign?”
“I don’t want to tell you.”
“Why not?”
“Because when I do and I tell you the meaning, you’ll stop touching me like you are,” he glances at you.
“Well, I know it’s not the devil or satan so how bad could it be? Please tell me, I want to know.”
His eyes move to yours again and he sighs.
“Fine. They call me Hangman because in my earlier days of flight school and training, I always left my teammates in the dust so I could show I was the best.”
“Hangman…Hangman…” you let it sink into your muddled brain then shake your head. “That’s not how you are at all. Can’t we change it?”
“Nah, sweetheart, that’s my callsign until I retire. What would you change it to?”
“Hmm,” you hum tracing your finger under his chin, his jaw, then to the shape of his ear closest to you. “Wizard.”
“Wizard? Why that one?” he laughs.
“Because, your eyes are emerald green and it makes me think of the Wizard of Oz. He helped Dorothy home and you make me feel like I’m home.”
“I do?” he glances at you again, his arms tightening around you.
“Yeah. I’m working on showing you that more. I do appreciate all that you do for me, Jake, I’m still getting used to it all.”
“That’s okay, I’ll keep doing it until you feel comfortable, Sugar.”
“Would that be my callsign? Sugar?” you perk up at the nickname.
“Yeah, I think so, ‘cause there’s no one sweeter than you.”
“No, you’re pretty sweet, too, Jake,” you rest your head on his shoulder. The walk to his truck is very long but you’re okay being in his arms a little longer. “Who takes care of you?”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, you take care of meand Betty and…the other women you’ve been with…who takes care of you?”
“No one, really,” he shakes his head and you frown.
You shift your cheek higher up on his shoulder and hold onto his cheek so you can angle his face towards yours, his gait slows down so he can look at you. His whole demeanor has softened and he’s staring at you in a way you’ve never been looked at before. Was Dom right? Does Jake always look at you like this?
“Can I take care of you?” you ask quietly and he stops walking. You’re standing under the orange streetlights, the color of his eyes have darkened but they’re still your favorite shade.
“How would you do that?”
“Well…I can’t pay for everything but I can listen about your work day, your thoughts…dreams you’ve had and we can watch your favorite shows. I’ll learn how to make your favorite foods if you’d like. And I can…” you bite your lip suddenly embarrassed.
“You can what?”
“Help you fall asleep so you don’t have circles anymore,” you touch beneath his eye at the darkened bloom of his skin.
“How’d you do that?” he smiles into your palm, nuzzling into your touch.
“Well, you say you’re good at massages…I’m good at playing with hair and humming people to sleep.”
“Yeah? Can I test that theory tonight?”
“Sure, whose bed is comfier? Mine or yours?”
“They both have the same mattress, Sugar,” he smiles then starts walking again but you hear the click of his truck door opening. He sets you in the seat, hands buckling you in and he closes the door moving to his side before you can respond.
You rest against the headrest, staring at him as he sits in his spot and starts the truck.
“Can I try your bed?” you reach over holding onto his forearm. His eyes meet yours, flickering to your hand on his arm then back again.
“You have no idea what those words do to me,” he sighs, “but yes, we can sleep in my bed tonight. If that’s what you want when we get home.”
You smile then start chattering about the evening before he arrived. As soon as he pulled onto the highway, however, you fell fast asleep, your hand still poised on his forearm. As much as he wanted to bring you into his own bed, he just couldn’t do it with you fast asleep like that so he made sure your shoes were off and that your pajamas were laid out on the bench at the end of your bed.
“G’night, Sugar,” he kisses your forehead then retreats to his room alone. He hopes he’ll know what it’s like to sleep next to you soon.

Just working on some of my wips tonight, here are some snippets:
never gonna hold the name (of another guy) [justified; tim/raylan]
The music is so loud he barley hears Winona say like a confession, “You know I really liked you then.”
“What?” Raylan hollers back at her, feigning like he didn’t catch her words. He’s half drunk and wonders if she is too, confessing old wants and desires like it means something right now.
Winona rolls his eyes. She’s close enough that she knows he heard her. “I said, that I really liked you back then,” she repeats with exaggerated patience. Then for further clarification, “Sophomore year.”
“Really,” Raylan intones back, not that interested in reliving this part of his past. They had had a thing then, a thing that he’d thought they’d left behind. He likes Winona, always has, her pretty smile and blonde hair and big blue eyes, sharp mind and body. But there’s a small problem. He likes Winona. But he’s been in love with Tim for quite sometime. And now, it might finally be in his grasp.
--
heaven knows [star wars; codywan]
The silence is deafening. For a hysterical second, he wishes for a cigarette even though he’s never smoked a day in his life. It’s what people do, in times like these he thinks. At least to have something to do with their hands and so they don’t have to say anything at all. Plausible deniability.
“I didn’t know Fives’ name,” he blurts out. “His given name,” he corrects when he sees Cody’s baffled look. He wasn’t even aware that it was something he was hung up on, until he said it out loud. Strange to not know a student’s full name. It has just said Fives Fett on everything.
Understanding and maybe even a bit of pity dawns over Cody’s face and Obi-Wan immediately hates it. The pity. He always has.
--
birds of a feather (flock together) [top gun; icemav]
He hits the answer button with shaking fingers, trying like hell to not drop it. It takes a second or two to raise it to his ear, and it's like white noise in his head.
"Mitchell," he says automatically, trying to push the shakiness from his voice. Act natural, Ice says in his head, just be cool.
"Hello?" a unfamiliar voice says back. A female voice. Ice water rushes in the side of his stomach, a rock of disappointment hitting the pit.

Bewitched (Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw)
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x OC
Author's note: This is a re-upload of an old fic/idea I posted months ago and rewrote. If you have any requests for anyone in the dagger squad, request are always open! Also, this is pure fiction, this isn't going to be 100% accurate and it's just for fun. Enjoy!
This is basically an enemies to lovers fic. It will contain a lot of smut, angst, mention of death, and spoilers for the Top Gun movies.
Warnings: Just some cursing and fighting. Spoilers for both movies.
Many people knew who Sadie was and the well-known family name she carried. When Sadie was a child, she was her dad's little shadow. Tom always had a feeling that Sadie would follow in his footsteps just by the way her face would light up every time they arrived at the base. How she always paid attention to him when he explained anything about the planes and the power they carried.
And on the weekends, after Sadie had all her homework done, her parents would let her join her Godfather, Pete, to work on his project plane. In the end, if the hard work paid off, Pete would take her on a quick little joy ride while the sun sat. Sadie cherished those moments with Maverick, he wasn't able to be with her every weekend working on the planes because of work, but when he had the chance, he wouldn't hesitate to let Tom know he would stop by to pick her up.
Even though most people knew Sadie from her father and her close relationship with Pete, she built her current reputation by herself.
Sadie was determined, carefree, and maybe too charismatic. She was the type who would make anyone feel welcome and part of a team. She wasn't all about letting someone feel left out of the group. And everyone loved her; it was impossible not to. But, like her godfather, Sadie could be reckless, and, Sadie always craved the need for adrenaline.
When Sadie got called in for TOPGUN, she wasn't surprised. She knew the type of pilot she was and that her hard work was paying off. The little girl who always hid behind her father's figure would've been jumping in excitement like a lunatic. She wanted to make that little girl proud.
"I'm going to TOPGUN," Sadie announced to Pete suddenly while at his garage one Saturday morning. Maverick was visiting for a few days before he had to leave again for a mission to Iraq. But she needed to see him and deliver the news in person before leaving later that day. Maverick's eyes widen, immediately pulling her into a hug. "I hope you and dad could be there for my graduation."
"Me too, kiddo."
On Monday, Sadie arrived, and there were a few people with their claimed seats chatting away in different groups. "That's Iceman's daughter over there." Sadie turned her head to see a dark-haired woman pointing her out to the two other guys in the group.
"I heard a rumor from someone that she broke into the control tower after hours and threw a graduation party after the ceremony." One of the boys mentioned.
"C'mon, Coyote. Do you believe those stupid rumors?" The woman spoke again, chuckling at Coyote. "But, if it's true and I had her last name, I would've done the same or worse."
"I also heard some captains and other lieutenants are placing bets on who will end up top of the class," Coyote began. "You think you can beat Iceman's daughter, Hangman?" Coyote said, mocking Hangman.
"Oh, please." Hangman scoffed. "We all know she's here because who's going to turn away Iceman's daughter?"
"I'm here because of the same reason all you are. I'm a damn good pilot." Sadie interrupted, standing in front of Hangman. "It's okay to admit you're intimidated, but that doesn't mean I'll go easy on you."
Hangman chuckled, causing the little wooden toothpick between his lips to fidget. "I like you already," Hangman announced, patting Sadie's petite shoulder before grabbing a seat on the table next to her. "Let's see if that ego stands a chance up in the air."
"Hi, I'm Phoenix, by the way." The black-haired woman introduced herself, extending her palm to Sadie's. Phoenix completely ignoring Hangman's last comment about Sadie.
"I'm Hex, and you must be Coyote." Sadie chuckled at Coyote.
"Why do they call you Hex?" Coyote asked timidly, grabbing a seat next to Hagman.
"You'll find that out later," Sadie smirked. Phoenix patted the empty chair, gesturing to Sadie to sit down right next to her.
“It’s nice having another woman here, too much testosterone in one place”. Sadie looked around the class full of unfamiliar faces, except one. She recognized that face from a picture Maverick had framed in the garage of Bradley’s graduation from the Naval Academy. Her dad mentioned something about his relationship with Maverick, but she never had the whole story. She did ask Maverick once about him, curious why he had Bradley's picture in his garage but never talked about him. Maverick gave her a vague answer, but she didn't push more on the topic once she saw his eyes flooded with tears.
“That’s Rooster over there, he’s tense but he’s one of the good ones,” Phoenix whispered, noticing Sadie’s staring. “You’ll like him.”
Rooster looked up from his hands, a bit nervous, only to meet Sadie’s stare. Embarrassed about getting caught, she turned her attention to the front of the class to the empty podium. “I’m not sure about that,” Sadie muttered to herself as the class was ordered to stand.
After the little introduction from their instructor, the teams headed out to grab the rest of their gear and head out to their planes. The first day was nothing but relaxing. Phoenix and Hex were paired in the same group against Hangman for the first round of dog fighting. But with no surprise, Phoenix and Hex managed to take down Hangman's plane and his ego with it. "Oh, I like flying with you, Hex," Phoenix confessed once they were on land again.
"Hex, you'll be the target this time against Rooster and Hangman after the next team lands." The instructor informed Sadie, looking up from his clipboard. Hex nodded, heading back to her plane.
"Give 'em' hell, Hex!" Phoenix shouted at her before Sadie made it back to her F18.
Up in the air, Hangman and Rooster were bickering, Hangman teasing him about his call sign and whatnot. "Hangman, do you see her?" Rooster asked, trying to change the subject while looking around for the target.
"Is she even here?" Hangman groaned impatiently. He was still bitter from the previous round.
"Been here the whole time, boys." Hex chuckled as her plane flew up vertically between the two planes. A little trick she picked up from Maverick.
"Jesus!" Rooster shrieked, not expecting her to come from below them.
"Are you guys done gossiping? or do you need a little more time before I take both of you down?" Hex gloated, disappearing from their sight again. Hex lays low and far from them. Hex preferred to stay low on her target; she liked to sneak up on them. Especially when they only looked up and to their sides.
"Gloating doesn't look good on you, sweetheart," Hangman replied, signaling something to Rooster. "How about a bet? Whoever loses, buys the winner's drinks for the whole night."
"It's a deal, blondie," Hex didn't hesitate at the chance of a good bet. Increasing her speed, Hex flew away above the pilots, catching them off guard again. "You just made a deal with the devil."
Hangman increased his height and speed, leaving Rooster behind without a word. And that was Hangman, who never knew how to work as a team. Rooster increased his speed, following Hangman but staying below him. "Hangman, she's on your nose." Rooster was a team player; he liked playing it safe and sticking to the rules. And now, he was stuck with the most competitive duo on the air.
"Oh, I see her," Hangman smirked, his fingertips leveling the lock on her plane. "I don't drink the cheap beer, by the way," Hangman said, a bit too cocky. When Hangman was about to lock, Hex increased her speed and lowered altitude just enough to pass underneath Hangman's plane by the hair, leaving his aircraft shaking unexpectedly. Hangman cursed loudly, losing his focus from the turbulence. Hangman cursed under his breath, ascending the plane, and leaving Rooster behind.
Before Rooster could react, he lost her from his sight once again. Rooster looked down; all he saw was the blurry terrain underneath them. It was a bit too quiet. Hex tried to maintain the same speed as Rooster, camouflaging herself upside down from his plane. "Rooster, I think you should do a little maintenance underneath your plane." Hex chuckled, Rooster's eyes darting back down. Hex flew from underneath him and switched to the top of his plane, upside down still. "Bye, Rooster." Hex waved at him. Rooster glared at her, his cheeks turning red from the growing anger, recognizing the little trick she was pulling off.
Rooster was about to increase his altitude, but Hex swooshed underneath him twice. Hex spun around his plane, putting him in a trance. After the third spin, she pulled the brakes, jerking her plane right behind him while he was still looking for her underneath him. Hex centered the target on Rooster's plane and locked it successfully on him. "And that's a hit."
"Fuck!" Rooster cursed loudly, hitting the cockpit's glass.
Hex couldn't help but smirk; she got under his skin. But, she didn't forget about Hangman, how he completely flew away and left his wingman alone. Leaving Rooster with his loss, Hex increased her altitude again and searched for the remaining aviator.
"Rooster, do you have a sighting of Hex?" Hangman asked through the com but was met with silence instead. "Rooster?" He called again while Hex successfully slipped underneath his plane as she did with Rooster.
"He's dead, Hangman." Hex said, switching her plane right side up. Hangman didn't even have a clue she was so close to him. Hex mocked him. The plan was going smoothly, and Hangman didn't suspect a thing.
Hex spun around his plane twice the same way she did with Rooster. Hangman pulled the brakes as she aligned her plane to his nose before she dipped underneath him swiftly and settled behind him. The dial tone from the lock blared like crazy through Hangman's plane and the radio back at the base while he was in a complete daze about what had happened. He didn't even have a moment to react to her maneuvers. "By the way, I don’t drink cheap beer, Hangman."
After landing back at base, everyone else was already changing from their gear into their casual clothing to head out for the afternoon. Some were tired, but others were ready to head out to the bar after a long day. Especially Hex, she was craving those beers Hangman owed her.
Surrounding the pool table at The Hard Deck, Hangman handed Hex a second beer while the group chatted about Hex's trick during the exercise. "So that's why they call you Hex," Coyote announced before taking a sip of his beer.
"It's like getting them under a spell, bewitched," Hex added, taking a sip from her beer, which tasted like a sweet victory. Sadie looked around the bar searching for Rooster and spotted him on the porch that led to the beach behind the bar. "I'll be right back."
Phoenix and Coyote watched her walk outside where Rooster was moping around the patio outside. "Was it just me that sensed tension between those two earlier?" Coyote speculated, looking at Phoenix.
"I sensed it, but I didn't want to say anything," Phoenix confirmed his suspicions as they watched Rooster and Hex’s interaction from inside the bar.
"Hey, are you okay?" Hex asked, her palms gripping the neck of the beer bottle.
Rooster gulped down his beer and didn't turn around to look at her. "I'm fine," Rooster stated dryly towards her.
"Why are you mad?" Sadie probed, stepping in front of him to catch his eyes. His tall figure shadowed her, hiding from the curious eyes of her new pilot friends in the bar. His eyes were blank, lost and he didn’t dare to look at her. He kept his eyes glued to the waves behind her. "Rooster, please."
"I don't like you, and I don't want to get to know you. Can you get that through your brain?" Rooster snapped, slamming his beer bottle to the wooden table at his right. "You are a dangerous pilot! Eventually, you'll get someone killed with your stupid tricks."
"What is wrong with you?" Hex raised her voice, pushing her index finger to his hard chest. "I came out here because I truly wanted to be friends, especially if we're going to be here for the next nine weeks in training," Hex added, pushing him again. "You can mope around and play the victim or grow a pair of balls and act like a decent person because newsflash, buddy, you're going to see and hear about me for the rest of your life,"
Rooster was stunned as he watched her walk back inside the bar. “He’s such an ass.” Sadie cursed, taking a sip from her beer as the group of pilots stared at her confused.
“I can handle nine weeks”, he tried to convince himself. Rooster hoped he didn't have to see her again. She acted so much like Maverick; she needed to be reckless and always have the last word, like him.
For the following weeks, Hex avoided Rooster around the base and at the bar. She didn't even look at him, but he looked at her the whole time. Her presence pissed him off. He worked hard to get where he was, even when Maverick backtracked his career for about four years by pulling his papers. And she, the one who had everything handed to her, also had to have TOPGUN.
Needless to say, the following weeks were going to be long for the whole team.
There wasn't a doubt that Sadie would end up being top of her graduating class at TOPGUN with her astounding skills. She wanted her father and Maverick to be proud of her, but without them, she wouldn't have found her true calling. Also, she wanted to see Hangman's face when they announced her name instead of his.
Unfortunately, Maverick was still deployed and couldn't make it to her grad ceremony, but he managed to deliver some flowers back to her parent's house. But deep down, she knew it wasn't the best for Maverick to be present, especially with Rooster graduating third in his class. Or would have it been better?

I love all of the og Top Gun fics I read, but it always bugs me when the female reader is in Top Gun with Goose, Mav, and Iceman. Because the Navy didn't even let women be fighter pilots when the movie came out. They were granted that in the mid 90s. And the first woman to graduate Top Gun was in 2004. Some historical inaccuracies in fics are to be expected, but it bugs me to no end that how sexist the Navy was (and still is) is so glossed over in day to day life, that people just assume women were allowed to be fighter pilots in the 80s- 30 to 40 years ago.
#thank you for coming to my ted talk#my dad made me watch a documentary on tomcat f14s earlier#which briefly mentioned the first female combat qualified naval aviator#her name was Kara Hultgreen#that was in 1994#kat rambles#top gun#top gun fics#maverick x reader#iceman x reader#goose x reader

You wake up the following morning, smushed against Jake's chest. Your skin feels feverish against his, the sweltering body heat trapped inside the blankets is enough to make you feel slightly choked in the space on your bed. An exasperated yawn sounds from your chest as you attempt to twist in Jake's arms, which are securely locked around your frame. The sudden movement makes Jake stir awake with a husky groan, his arms tightening around you in the slightest before releasing.
"Good morning," he greets, running a hand over his face, tousling his sleep-ridden hair. Having been roommates with Jake for an extended period of time, you've witnessed him in many forms and seeing him first thing in the morning isn't new to you, but seeing Jake freshly awake in your bed with his arms still around you, voice thick with sleep? Man, he's a sight for sore eyes.
"Good morning," you return the pleasantry, pausing your attempts at unraveling your limbs from his. You forget why you even started moving in the first place, the second you catch the lighthearted expression he's wearing as he soaks you in. Several seconds of uninterrupted silence pass, both of you sharing an undefinable moment filled with awestruck glances and feathery touches.
Jake clears his throat, pulling himself back down so that he can't be labeled a creep for admiring how soft you look first thing in the morning with pillow lines on your cheek and doe-like eyes that twinkle in the sunlight. "Sleep okay?" There's a hopefulness in his voice, though you feel as though he should know the answer himself. You passed out long before him, and didn't consciously stir awake until about five minutes ago.
"Are you kidding," you yawn, propping your chin on his chest to keep from breaking eye contact. "I think that's the best sleep I've gotten all year." Bashful chuckles bubble from each of you at the exclamation you humorously uttered, though your words are sincere. Something about Jake's presence in your bed gave you the most fantastic, mind-fuzzing, sleep you've had in ages.
"Good," he hums, drawing your hair away from your face to secure it behind your ear, knowing you hate when it gets in your eyes. A rather accomplished, arrogant smirk crosses his face as your words fully register in his brain, his thoughts trailing back to how set you were on his clear inability to cure your insomnia the night before. "And you were so convinced I wouldn't be able to help." His tone is playful as his smirk shifts into a full shit-eating grin. "How's it feel to eat your words, sweetheart? Wanna give me that five star yelp review now?"
Your eyes involuntarily roll at his antics, your arms pushing your body from his chest so that you're looking down at him. "Don't get too ahead of yourself, Seresin. I'd barely slept in days, how do you know my body hadn't hit its breaking point on sleep deprivation? That could very well have been the cause for all the sleep I just got, so don't go assuming all of the credit for yourself." He can tell you're joking by the way your nose twitches in the slightest as you speak. Both of you know fully well that, while your body was teetering closer to its breaking point due to a lack of sleep, you would've been up for the better part of the night without Jake's, somewhat, forceful intervention.
"That's an odd way to say 'thank you' but I guess I'll take it," he drones, looking oddly comfortable still being wrapped in the blankets on your bed. Part of you assumed he would've been rushing to unravel himself from you the moment sleep welcomed you, but the fact that he didn't warms your heart as you continue soaking his presence in. He watches you, not minding the silence on your end as you hover over him. His fingers itch to rest on the curve of your jaw, but remain in their position fisting the soft covers. Though the atmosphere is soft, Jake doesn't want to push his luck by being overly affectionate with you. Sure, he's relentlessly flirted with you at times, but it's all been seemingly pointless banter to get under your skin. Unbeknownst to you, he'd love to freely express the peace that swirls in his chest when moments like these are shared, but the possibility of whatever would blossom by doing so crumbling and ruining your friendship keeps him from acting on those wants.
You smile at him, taking the silence as a cue to get your morning started, but Jake's hands find a home on your hips at the first sign of movement, planting you firmly in place. Your eyebrows raise in question, unsure of whether the vibe is to move or to stay in bed with him. This is an uncharted moment in your relationship with Jake and it's got you second guessing even the smallest decisions, that you wouldn't think twice about if it were anyone else tangled in your sheets.
"Let's stay here a little longer. I don't have anywhere to be," though it's a statement, his words portray themselves as more of a shy question. You swear there's a light pink hue to his cheeks as he locks his eyes on yours, seemingly searching for your reaction.
"Okay." You settle back into the covers the moment your agreement rolls from your lips. Your head finds the pillow as you get comfortable, laying on your side so you can face him. He mirrors your position, a content curve on his lips as he shuffles closer in the slightest. "What do you have on your agenda today, Lieutenant?"
He hums, scanning the ceiling as if he's running through his daily tasks in his head. "My day's clear, outside of meeting the squad at the Hard Deck tonight. You?"
"No plans," you hum, feeling grateful to finally have time off with it being the weekend. "Thought I'd see where an empty schedule takes me. There's a farmer's market across town that peaked my interest, but I'm not sure I'm going to go." The normalcy of talking about each others schedules makes you feel a bit shy. You can't help but imagine a different reality in which you and Jake are more than just platonic roommates, but a couple in love. A couple starting their morning off together, unaware of the outside world, with the dainty glow of the early sun casting a soft hue over both of their features. The images leave your brain scrambled with the thought of the man in front of you's attention being on you in a different way.
"You should go. Hell, I wouldn't mind going with if you're not sick of my company." You're surprised by the fact that he's even remotely interested in attending a farmers market with you on his day off, especially after having already spent the night huddled with you in bed so that you'd sleep. Your cheeks subtly heat up at his partial offer.
"You'd go to a farmers market with me? I mean, you wouldn't want to do anything more interesting with your day off?"
"Contrary to popular belief, jet fuel and adrenaline aren't constantly necessary to keep me functioning," he jokes, rolling back into his pillow, twinkling eyes locked on you. "I enjoy normal people things like farmers markets and people watching just as much as the next guy."
"I feel like that statement just taught me a lot more about you than I've learned in our time as roommates Seresin. Though, I gotta admit, I call bullshit on you not needing jet fuel and adrenaline to keep you sane. You without those things is a scary thought," you inform him, running a hand through your hair.
Jake rolls his eyes at your words, his humored laugh echoing off the walls in the room. "Like I said, they're not constantly needed, but that doesn't mean I don't need them at all." There are a few beats of silence as you settle back into your positions, both of you holding content expressions on your face due to the laid back aura in the room. Jake props himself on his elbows, twisting so that he's looking at you again. "So, what do you say, trip to the farmers market? If you feel so bad about dragging me along, you can come to the Hard Deck with me later to make up for it." He catches the way your eyebrows raise curiously at his words, but remains hopeful that you won't shoot him down.
"You want me to go to the Hard Deck with you? Normally Tash is the one to give me an invite," you'd meant to agree to his offer of plans, but your mouth had other ideas, solely focused on him being happy with spending the day with you. Granted, you've spent multiple days together one on one, but they've typically been more task driven days like grocery store trips or running errands. A day full of moments with Jake Seresin with no purpose outside of keeping each other company? That's a nice change of pace.
"Yes, I want you to come, if you want to, that is," he tells you. "Now, are we doing this, or are you going to keep second guessing everything I say?"
Your eyes involuntarily rolls at the lighthearted impatience in his voice. "I guess we're doing this." You're smiling at him as he moves, offering you a hand to help you up so that you can both get ready and start the day. You pause in your room as he retreats to his room, silently admiring how domestic the entire thing feels.
You spend the day with Jake as planned, admittedly enjoying his company outside of a group setting, and outside of your shared living quarters. Witnessing Jake get excited over various booths, marveling over handmade knick knacks and food truck items has your heart swimming with newfound attraction for him. You've always thought he was attractive, though the initial cockiness and arrogance demeanor dulled it in the begging, but seeing him let his guard down in an atmosphere that doesn't require flight suits or competition shines a new glow onto him. Butterflies swirl in your chest every time he laughs, the slight crinkle in his nose and twinkle in his eyes making you feel some type of way under the glowing sun.
Hours pass slowly at the market without the weight of responsibilities as you're both able to let loose and simply enjoy passing moments. You walk around till your feet ache, and by that point, it's time to head back to the house to get ready for a night out with your shared friends. Natasha texted you halfway through the day, requesting your presence at the bar. She was pleasantly surprised when you informed her that Jake had already asked you to come. Being the one that introduced you to Jake, she quickly caught on to the way the two of you seemingly lit up whenever the other is around. She caught the subtle undertone of attraction in your fruitless banter, and has secretly been making bets with Bob on how long it'd take for you and Jake to stop tip-toeing around your obvious feelings and dive into them head first. The fact that she hadn't been the one to invite you out first, feels like a step in that direction, to her anyway.
Everyone in the squad caught onto something different in the air the moment you and Jake walked in. The two of you were practically buzzing as you approached them with wide smiles, Jake's hand subconsciously resting on the small of your back. You sent Natasha a confused glance when she suggestively wiggled her eyebrows from her spot next to Bob, her eyes immediately trailing to an unaware Jake, who already moved to fill in for Javy at the pool table.
"What's the look for, Tash?" You ask when you're sure she's close enough to hear you. She wordlessly shrugs, unable to wipe the grin off her face at the appeared lovesick statues both you and Jake have been wearing since you walked in the door.
"Oh, nothing, nothing," she waves off, taking a sip of her drink with a humored glance at Bob, who's standing a few feet from you. "You're just, glowing a little different tonight is all."
The rest of the night at the bar consisted of the perfect amount of alcohol and effortless laughter. The drama-free time at the bar left you feeling light as Jake drove the two of you home at the end of the night, both of you recounting moments shared with the squad.
"I still can't believe that girl turned Javy down like that," you snort, clutching your abdomen to dull the ache from laughing so much. "I mean, she was the one that approached him!"
"Guy can't catch a break," Jake shakes his head, easily pulling his truck into a its designated spot by your place. Several more humored giggles erupt from you at the memory of the look on Javy's face when the girl physically ghosted him while everyone watched. Jake let himself out of the truck, strolling to the passenger side to help you out. He rolls his eyes at the way you continue spouting off more ridiculous recounts of the night, his own chuckles flowing into your ears as he waits for you to unlock the door.
"Home," you sigh, dropping your purse on the floor next to your already discarded shoes. You bask in the familiar scent o sandalwood, still surprisingly fresh after the candle had been blown out hours ago when the two of you left. Jake pauses to watch you, something about the way you visible relax makes his heart swell. He discards his keys onto their designated ring by the door, slipping off his own shoes when you spin towards him suddenly. "Hey, thanks for today. I, um, I really needed it."
He blinks at you in surprise, not anticipating any sort of thank you for simply spending time together. "Of course, darlin'. Thanks for letting me invade your space for the day, I enjoyed it too. I hope I proved that I don't need jet fuel to have a good time." You nod with an appreciative sigh, unable to stop yourself from yawning. A somewhat victoriously smirk curves onto the edge of Jake's lip as he straightens up, taking a few steps closer to where you're standing. He leans a little closer to help guide your jacket off. "Looks like I successfully tired you out enough to encourage your body to let you sleep tonight. Seems like I'm pretty good at this."
Your eyes roll at him, a lighthearted scoff sounding from you as you graciously watch him hang your jacket on the coatrack. "Don't let it get to your head, Seresin. You can't afford for that ego to get any bigger than it is now."
"Getting better at thanking me, I see," he winks, following you through the house toward where your bedrooms are, ready to change into comfortable clothes. You shake your head at him, each of you letting those words be the last that are spoken before disappearing in your rooms to get comfortable for the night.
You quickly swap your skinny jeans and top out for biker shorts and your favorite oversized t-shirt, swiping a makeup wipe across your skin. Once you're fully ready, you collapse onto the covers with a content noise, smiling at your ceiling as the day flashes through your mind again. Though you spent the entirety of the day with him, Jake's presence is missed now that you're back in your bed. The memory of his embrace from the night before ghosts itself across your skin, making you feel restless as you toss and turn in your sheets.
Your mind reels with every touch, every smile, and word Jake uttered to you over the last forty-eight hours. Each of them kicking you into overdrive, wishing things were different. Minutes pass slowly, seemingly looming over your head the longer you toss and turn in your bed.
With a frustrated groan, the covers are kicked away from your legs, falling from the floor as your feet subconsciously carry you across the hall to Jake's cracked door. There's a minuscule amount of light peeking through the small space, signaling that his lamp is on, which means that he's likely still awake himself. Pausing, you take a deep breath before tapping your knuckles on the wooden door, cringing at the gentle sound it emits.
"Hey," Jake calls, inviting you into his room. He wordlessly closes the journal in his hands when you come into view, wearing a curious expression when his eyes land on you. "Everything alright?"
Your cheeks heat up in embarrassment, suddenly feeling silly that you'd interrupted his routine again. You're not fully sure why you felt the need to come see him, but can't escape the fact that you're already here now. "Oh, uh, yeah, everything's fine. I was just wondering, uh-you know what, it's stupid. Goodnight." The words rush out of your mouth so fast that they string together, your feet twisting you towards the door as Jake calls after you.
"Y/n, wait," he calls, sitting up. You mentally curse yourself, turning back to face him with a sheepish look. His gaze is soft as he addresses you, making your shoulders relax in the slightest. "What is it darlin'?"
You blink, debating whether or not to admit that the real reason behind your presence in his room is because you don't want to sleep alone. Sucking in a sharp breath, you timidly admit, "I was just wondering if, maybe, I could crash in here with you? I know I'm probably a bed hog, and you're probably sick of me after being with me all day, but you know, I just thought I'd ask. Wouldn't hurt to test your insomnia healing theory again, would it?" The last statement makes him laugh, the sound only furthering the heat gathering in your cheeks. "But, that's stupid. I'm just gonna go-"
"There's plenty room in my bed for both of us," he cuts you off gently, patting the space next to him, which he'd already pulled back for you to climb in. You stare at him, still feeling mortified by the subtle admission that you don't want to sleep alone. "Plus, I'm still waiting on that yelp review. Wouldn't hurt to get a few more brownie points under my belt." You appreciate the way he takes it upon himself to make light of the situation rather than fully rubbing it in your face that you're the one requesting to sleep with him tonight. "Well, don't just stand there. My bed's getting cold."
"Always so bossy," you huff, sliding in his bed. The faint scent of his lingering cologne wafts into your nose, forming an involuntary smile on your lips. It's embarrassing how your body reacts to being so close to him, prior to his helping you sleep, it had been easy to ignore how he makes you feel. Now, it seems like there's an invisible magnetic field dragging you to him without question.
"Get comfortable sweetheart," he commands, switching the lamp off so that he can settle next to you. His arms slide around you, pulling you against him without warning, not that you're complaining. This is exactly what you'd come into his room for. He releases a content sigh once you're fully tucked against him, his eyelids immediately feeling heavy. After a few moments of quiet, Jake murmurs, "For the record, I wanted to ask if you wanted company tonight too."
Those two nights, wrapped up in each other underneath soft sheets, sparked an unspoken tradition of curling into each other when the sun went down. You always talk as you get comfortable, your hearts beating heavy in your chest as your eyes grow heavy. Letting the sound of each others even breathing, and being knotted around each others bodies, be what lulls you both to sleep. You rotate between sleeping in his bed, and him sleeping in yours, neither of you really asking as you're always seemingly on the same page as to who's making the others' room their resting place for the night.
Several weeks of sleeping in each others bed, led you to a night of hesitantly expressing your, more than platonic, feelings for one another. Jake's hands were cupping your face when he promised that he's hoped to be more than your roommate since the day the two of you signed your lease. Your cheeks hurt from smiling when you admitted to those feelings being mutual, at least after you'd realized that he wasn't as arrogant and egotistical as he'd first let off.
"Y/n, I'd be happy to spend every night with you in my arms," he breathes, his face growing closer to yours in the slightest, making your breath catch in your throat. "I'd be even happier if you were more than just my roommate. Am I crazy to think that we're meant to be more than that?"
Your eyes trail to his lips shamelessly before landing on his eyes again. Your voice in a hushed whisper, "I'd be a hypocrite if I told you that you're crazy for thinking that, because I think we're meant to be more too."
"That's all I need to know," he smiles, suddenly capturing your lips with his, letting them speak for the two of you as your roommate relationship blossoms into much more.
*****************
Never anticipated a second part when writing 'Little Insomniac' but then I realized that your and roommate Jake's storyline simply couldn't end so abruptly. I couldn't do that to myself. Though, I anticipated a snippet, and then wrote over 3,000 words soo there's that. Also, this little miniseries is comical to me because, I'm also an insomniac and just finished this at 5 am.
Now that this is under my belt, FAWN volume two will be finished and uploaded next. I hit a bit of an inspiration stunt, but I'm feeling like this helped sooo....FAWN TWO will actually be posted within the next few days to those of you looking forward to it!!

Masterlist
You are a high school teacher at Miramar High School on base. You had already lived in California for some years now and were loving it but you needed a roommate, rent on a teacher's salary was hard. You debated on whether or not to get a roommate but didn't want to end up with someone strange or serial killer. You had almost given up when Natasha came to Top Gun looking for a place to stay she called you up, and you immediately said yes.
Natasha took you to the hard deck when you finally had the night off from grading papers and essays, that's when you met the handsome stranger with a mustache and a Hawaiian shirt. She said that she wanted you to meet her friends and fellow coworkers and you were all for it. You both walked into The Hard Deck on a Friday night and the first thing you see where a sea of khaki uniforms, flight suits, and civilian clothing. You weren't a stranger to The Hard Deck, not in the least bit, you had come here a lot with other teachers and friends. You were no stranger to the Navy, not the least bit either, your father being none other than Vice Admiral Beau 'Cyclone' Simpson. You had really thought about going into the Navy but decided against it since the love of teaching and helping kids won over. She dragged you over to her group of friends to say hello. They introduced themselves and you did to them but your gaze lingered on Bradley Bradshaw.
"Hey guys! This is my friend and roommate Y/N!" Natasha said over the loudness of the music and you gave them a wave.
"Hi, I'm Bob. Natasha has told us a lot about you." Bob spoke up first and you turned to look at her.
"All good things I hope." You answered but looked at her and you both smiled and she turned her head.
"Very good things. I'm Bradley." Bradley spoke up and you turned your head to meet his gaze and you could've sworn you fell in love right then and there. You both locked eyes and the rest was history. Your attention was torn away from him when another voice came through.
"I'm Jake. You can call me anytime. You’ll be remembering it when I have you screaming it later tonight. " Jake said with a smirk and you just rolled your eyes.
"I won't be calling you at all or screaming your name because I don't do cocky aviators. Just be glad Penny didn’t hear that." You told him and everyone's jaw dropped there weren't very many people that could take Jake down a peg but they found one person. Jake was silent but still had that stupid smirk on his face.
"Oh, I like her." Jake said then another voice came through.
"I like you. You got Jake to shut up for once. I'm Javy." Javy said and you smiled and said hi back. Finally the last one spoke up.
"My name is Mickey. Sorry for Jake's behavior now and in advance." Mickey said and you laughed.
"No worries. I know how to deal with over confident cocky jocks." You said and Bradley spoke up.
"Oh? What do you do?" He asked curiously and you smiled at him.
"I'm a high school teacher on base. I deal with a lot of teenage testosterone every day." You told him and somehow moved closer to him Natasha saw this and shook her head and moved to stand between you and him.
"I don't think so. You're not taking my best friend." She said and grabbed your arm dragging you away from him "You don't have a drink. We need to get you a drink." She said and dragged you to the bar. Penny came over and met you. You told her your order and Natasha ordered hers and everyone else's. While you wanted you and Bradley stole glances at each other. That's how it went on for the rest of the night. Natasha tried to keep you away from Bradley but every now and then you would make your way over to him and both of you would flirt. It was funny when Natasha noticed you weren't there and would find you and grab you and drag you away, you would smile at Bradley and wave.
By the time everyone was ready to go come most of everyone was drunk. Except you, Bob, and Bradley. Bob assured you that he would get everyone else home safely and you nodded and you told him you would take care of Natasha. Bob started to round up everyone else while you rounded up Natasha that's when Bradley came up to you.
"You need any help?" He asked you and you shook your head but spoke up before he could say anything.
"You can walk us to the car though." You said and he smiled. You would come back later and close out your tab. True to your word he walked you to your car while you put Natasha in the passenger side. She was mumbling incoherent words but you just shook your head and shut the door after making sure she was buckled in and went to the driver's side where Bradley stood. You leaned up against the door and he took your hands and held them.
"So is there a chance I'm going to see you again?" He asked you and you nodded.
"There is a very good chance." You smiled "Give me your phone." You said and he dropped your hands while he dug his phone out and you did the same you both exchanged phones and put your numbers in. He saw your lock screen and wall paper.
"Wait.... that's Cyclone on there. Why would he be on there?" He asked curiously but not mad. It was true your dad was on there it was taken when you had graduated college.
"Because he would be my dad." You said in a matter-in-fact tone. "Don't tell the others. Only you and Natasha know." You said.
"Your secret is safe with me." He said and handed your locked phone back to you and you did the same. You smiled and he opened the door to your Jeep Wrangler. You got in and rolled down the window once you turned the key.
"Have a nice night Bradley." You said with a soft smile and he smiled back.
"You too, Y/N Simpson." He said and you laughed softly and backed and headed back to the apartment. Natasha was knocked out.
You arrived back and woke her up and helped her inside. You made sure the window was closed and the car locked. You helped her to her bedroom where she fell on the bed and went to sleep, you just shook your head and removed her shoes and socks. As you were getting ready for bed your phone buzzed with a notification.
Bradley Bradshaw: I'm really glad to have met you tonight. Any chance I can take you on a proper date?
You: Absolutely. Tomorrow night?
Bradley Bradshaw: Really? Tomorrow night is perfect. Favorite choice of food?
You: I'm not picky but love Thai.
Bradley Bradshaw: It's a date. I'll pick you at 7. I'm looking forward to it. Have a good night.
You: Sounds perfect. I'm looking forward to it too. You have a goodnight too.
You smiled and plugged your phone in and laid down. Looking forward to tomorrow night.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
Saturday morning rolled around and you were the first one up. You started making coffee and breakfast when Natasha rolled into the kitchen looking hung over.
"Good morning sunshine." You said in a normal voice but she winced and you chuckled and smirked.
"Oh my gosh. I shouldn't have let Mickey talk me into tequila shots." She said and sat down at the counter and put her head down. You felt bad for you really did.
"Yea I noticed." She looked up when something warm hit her hand.
"Thank you so much." She said and took sip and practically moaned.
"Hey listen. I have a date tonight at 7 tonight. I won't be home until late." You said and that perked her up.
"Oh? With who?" She asked and you smirked.
"Someone I met at the bar last night. We really hit off." You said and she started to try and guess who it was but you denied her each time. She dropped it when you placed pancakes, eggs, and bacon in front of her. "Eat up. It'll help with your hangover." You said and started to clean up.
Once you cleaned up you walked past her and pushed her a little bit and got ready for the day. You got dressed and started cleaning the house. Natasha was currently in her room curing a hangover which you didn't mind honestly. You told her that you were meeting your dad for lunch and she gave a thumbs up and you laughed and headed out to meet him.
You met him at a little cafe. It was a tradition you had every Saturday afternoon. You walked in and he got up and hugged you when you met him.
"Hi, daddy." You said to him.
"Hey, sweetheart." He replied and let you go as you both sat down. It was silent for a moment. The waiter came and took your order and they left. Then came back with your drinks.
"I have a date tonight." You told him and he looked at you from putting sugar in his coffee and you did the same.
"With who?" He asked taking a sip, you were hesitant but loved your dad.
"You know him. He's an aviator. Bradley Bradshaw." You said and he stopped drinking.
"Sweetheart-" He started but you stopped him.
"No Dad. I really like him and we're going on a date tonight. You will also not give him a hard time at work understand?" You said making it clear. Right now you sounded just like your father and he was proud of that, then again you dealt with testosterone filled teenage boys.
"I understand." He said just as your food arrived. You all ate and talked and once you were done he paid and you both left. He walked you to your car and hugged you and kissed your head. "Drive safe sweetheart. I love you" You smiled and let go of him.
"Of course Dad. I love you too." You both got in your cars and took off. You ran a couple of errands and stopped by work to grab something and then went home. When you got there Natasha was up and sitting on the couch watching TV with popcorn.
"How was your lunch with your father?" She asked and you smiled while putting away your stuff and kicking off your shoes. You walked to her and joined her on the couch and she passed you the popcorn bowl.
"It was good. Told him I had a date. He didn't get much say in it." You said taking a handful of popcorn. She laughed you were probably the only person to make Cyclone go silent. He would do anything for you. The rest of the day and leading up to 7 PM you sat on the couch with Natasha watching movies and gossiping.
When it hit 5:50 PM you started to get ready for your date with Bradley. You walked to your closest and stood there looking at it then an outfit you absolutely adored made its appearance. You grabbed it and other things and headed to the bathroom conjoined to your room. You took a shower and then applied light makeup and put on the outfit. Your outfit was a pair of jeans with a cute flowing blue short-sleeve shirt. You looked at yourself in the mirror and smiled you were ready. Your hair was naturally wavy so you didn't have to do anything to it.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
7 PM came around and Natasha had other plans so it all worked out. Bradley came to the apartment door and knocked, you opened the door and he had flowers in his hands and that made you smiled.
"You're so beautiful." Bradley said and you blushed.
"Thank you." You replied.
"These are for you. I hope you like them." He said and gave you the flowers.
"They're beautiful. I love them. I'm just going to put them in a vase." You said and did just that and welcomed him in. You had your back to him when he started to speak.
"I found this awesome Thai place just right outside of the base. You're going to love it." He finished as you turned around and smiled.
"I've heard some good things about it. I've always wanted to go there but never have the time." You told him and he smiled.
"Well I'm glad I'm the first one that will be taking you." He said "You ready to go?" He asked and you nodded.
"Absolutely." You said and the both of you headed out the door and to his Bronco. You got there and he opened the door for you like a true gentleman. He shut the door and got into the driver's side and started it up and started to drive toward the restaurant.
You arrived at the restaurant and he killed the engine and got out and was at your door before you could get your hand on the handle. He held out his hand and you took it letting him guide you out and into the restaurant. You were taken back to your seats and sat down.
"So how do you know Natasha?" He asked you and you smiled.
"I met her when she first came to Top Gun. We hit it off pretty well. I was going to school and helping Penny out. She moved on but we stayed in contact." You said and never nodded. "I hope my dad isn't giving you any problems." You said to him as the waiter came over and took your drink orders.
"No, he's not." He laughed slightly. The waiter came back with your drinks and you were ready to order which you both did. "Does Nat know you're on a date with me?" He asked you and you shook your head.
"No, she does not but my dad does. Don't worry he's ok with it." You said when you saw his panicked face. "What do you say we keep this to ourselves and see how long it takes people to figure out?" You asked him with a mischievous glint in your eye.
"Let's do it. Nat is going to flip her lid." He said and your food arrived. You ate and talked making easy conversation.
The night ended too fast in your opinion because the next thing you knew you were back at your apartment. He gave you a goodnight kiss on the cheek and you both said that you would like to do it again.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
This is how it went on for 7 months but each time it got more intimate and staying over at his apartment started, you couldn't stay at your apartment because of Natasha. You both would be sneaking around behind Natasha's back but everyone else knew. Everyone else knew because they figured it out especially when you came to give your dad something during your lunch break and waved at Bradley, who smiled and waved back. Nobody else knew you were a Simpson either but they found out that day.
You had just walked into the building where your dad worked. You saw the group of pilots, besides Natasha. They saw you walk in and then Bradley locked eyes with you, you smiled and waved which he returned. You walked off towards the offices and everyone turned to Bradley.
"What was that?" Jake spoke up just as surprised as everyone else.
"You're going to have to be more specific Jake. She waved and I waved back." Bradley said while looking back down at the work that laid in front of him.
"Oh no. That wasn't just a wave to say that was a wave like you've been together and been sleeping around." Javy spoke up and Bradley stayed quiet not wanting to give anything away.
"Wait....... are you dating her?" Javy asked but Bradley stayed quiet.
"You are!" Jake practically screamed
"Keep your voice down." Bradley said finally looking over at the pilots. He didn't get to speak much more because Cyclone came walking in with his always neutral look and you on his left side. Everyone shoots up and at attention.
"At ease." He said and everyone relaxed and sat down. "This is my daughter, Y/N. I'm dropping her off here right now before she has to go back to work and because I need to get to a meeting. Be nice to her." He said and turned to you.
"If I don't see you again after I get out of this meeting, be safe driving back and I love you." He said and kissed you on the cheek everyone was surprised.
"I will. I love you too." You said as you pulled away from kissing his cheek. He turned and walked off. Everyone was looking at you. After making sure he was truly gone you tackled Bradley in a hug and kissed him hard. Everyone was shocked.
"Oh stop your staring. We're fine with it as along as Nat doesn't know. She'll flip her lid." You told them and they all nodded. You sat on Bradley's lap and you all talked about anything and everything until you looked down at your watch. "Oh shit! I got to go!" You said and scrambled off of Bradley "I'll text you." You told him and you were out the door. As you were hurrying Natasha popped up but you didn't have time to stop and chat. "Hey, Nat. Bye, Nat. I'm late." You said and she waved as you sped down the hallway. She just laughed.
Back in the room, everyone was shocked. Jake quickly got over it and a sly smirk came on his face. "You sly dog. You're fucking her aren't you?" He said and Bradley couldn't help but smile. "I can't believe you're hooking up with the Vice Admiral's daughter." He continued "Does he know?" He asked and Bradley nodded his head.
"She told him that we were going on a date. She said that he was good with it." Bradley said looking up at him just as soon as Natasha walked in having not heard any of the conversation and it was dropped but they gave Bradley a knowing look.
Every now and then Bradley would come up to meet you in your classroom just to see you or have lunch with you. On many occasions, he was still there when students started to roll in. Many of the female students stood there gawking at the handsome male aviator, who was either in his flight suit or khaki uniform.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
Natasha did find out a week after that. It had just become your and Bradley’s 8-month anniversary of dating. You had thought she was going to be gone for most of the morning staying at the base for something she had to do that night, even though it was a Saturday night and Sunday morning. You thought you were clear and you were for the night but not the morning when she came back earlier than what was planned.
You and Bradley had just come back from dinner and sat down on the couch and turned on a random movie. You both weren't paying attention to it too busy with each other. It started with you wanting to watch the movie but then Bradley started by kissing your neck and then he was slowly turning you so that you were facing him. The kissing was slow and passionate. You could feel his one hand that wasn't holding your neck start to creep up your thigh.
"Wait wait." You said and he pulled back with a confused look on his face.
"Is something wrong?" He asked sounding hurt.
"No nothing is wrong everything is perfect. But if we're going to have hot passionate sex I want it to be in the bedroom and not on the couch." You said and watched his face relax.
"You got it, darlin." He said while effortlessly picking you up which made you let out a squeal and clung to him. He started to kiss you again and you kissed back. You could feel how hard he was getting and it only turned you on more. He stumbled his way to your room all of a sudden you felt the mattress on your back and he climbed on top of you kissing you and touching you. It was all too much but it was perfect.
"You're perfect darling." He said as he slowly took your shirt off followed by your bra. He attached to your left nipple and started sucking and gently biting it, which had you moaning and grabbing his head. Your fingers raked his scalp. He moaned and that sent vibrations through your body. He pulled off your left nipple and gave the right one the same attention.
"Bradley." You moaned his name. You could feel him smirking he suddenly pulled off and kissed down your sternum to the start of your jeans and then he started to unbutton the buttons looking up at you.
"You're amazing. You deserve everything." He said while looking up at you as he took off your jeans and underwear and you lifted up helping him.
"You're amazing too. You should be shown appreciation too." You said starting to get up but he wouldn't let you. He quickly shed his clothing and climbed on top of you. He kissed you and you kissed back then he attacked your neck which had you a moaning mess. He quickly made his way down your sternum and to where you needed him the most.
"Later but now it's all about you." He said and you could feel his breath hit your vagina. He licked a broad stripe up and you let out a photographic moan and you felt him smirk. You were wet already but this just made you wetter. He kept going and then he was suckinf on your clit which had that familiar rubber band feeling coming to you. Occasionally he would tease your opening with your tongue. What made that rubber band snap was when he gently bit your clit and your vision turned white and stars could be seen.
After a few minutes, you came down from your high and he was crawling up and kissing you letting you taste yourself. You only broke apart when you needed air. "You're amazing." You told him and he smikred.
"You are too." He replied as he moved one hand down to his now leaking pre-cum cock giving it a pump and lining up with your entrance and pushing in. You threw your head back and your hands when to his back and raked your nails down his back leaving marks, he hissed out but in pleasure. "You're always so tight. It's like you were made for me." He said through the pleasurable pain.
"Oh fuck." You moaned out "More." You said almost demanding.
"Yes, ma'am." He said loving that you were making orders. He started to thrust into you and he hit you in all the right places. He brought one hand to catch both of your wrists in his large hands and brought them up above your head. He started to attack your neck with hot passionate kisses. He used his other hand to attack your sensitive clit which had you spreading your legs further. By doing that he started thrusting deeper and hit your g-spot. You were quickly coming to your second orgasm. "I'm close darling." He said and you knew it was true by his thrusts getting sloppily.
"Cum in me." You said and he nodded. He started to pick up his speed in thrusting and on your clit until you both hit your peak. His hips stilled as his cum painted your walls rope and rope and you came on his cock.
You both came down and he gently pulled out and laid next to you and you laid your head on his chest. The room smelt of sex and all that could be heard was both of you heavy breathing. "I'm so glad to be with you. I love you." You said and he dropped a kiss on your forehead.
"Me too darling. I love you too." He replied and both of you fell asleep.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
It was the next morning and neither of you had to work since it was a Sunday. So you decided to pay Bradley a favor and show him the attention he deserved. You woke up before him and slowly kept down until you were at his flaccid cock. You slowly wrapped your hand around him and started to pump him until he was semi-hard, he started to moan but he was sleeping still. He took him in your mouth and started bobbing up and down and dipping your tongue into his slit. He started to thrust into your mouth and you hallowed your cheeks to take him further. It was a good thing that your gag reflex was almost nonexistent.
Bradley slowly opened his eyes and looked down at you. You had your eyes closed but sensed he was watching you and opened them and looked at him through your lashes. He put one hand on your head but didn't press down. He was close. He was moaning and almost panting. "Yes, Darling. I'm close." He said After a few minutes, you came up for air, but immediately went back and swirled your tongue around his tip, and that is what sent him over the edge. He came into your mouth, and you could taste his salty cum and swallowed it all. You pulled off of him when he was down and wiped the excess into your mouth. "What was that for?" He asked you.
"Well, you took such good care of me last night that I decided to repay you the favor." You said and he pulled you up to him and kissed him. He could taste himself. You pulled away for air.
"Get dressed, I'll make breakfast." He said and helped you get up. You slipped on your underwear after you found it, and on his oversized shirt, you forfeited the bra. He got up and pulled on his boxers. As he followed you out into the hallway you stopped short, because right in front of you in the kitchen was none other than your roommate, Natasha Trace. You stood there like a deer caught in headlights.
★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★
"Natasha. I thought you weren't supposed to be back until later this morning." You said and grabbed a pair of sweatpants that just so happened to be in the hamper. Bradley had gone back to the room and grabbed his pants. You were wearing his shirt so he forgot about it, it's not like she hasn't seen him thought a shirt.
"I got done early." She said slowly back "What is Bradley doing here? Why are you wearing his shirt?" She asked she had a feeling what the answer was going to be.
"I think you should sit down." Bradley said from behind you and you both walked into the kitchen and you both sat down on the barstool and she sat down at the table.
"Ok. I'm sitting." She said glaring at the two of you.
"I'm just gonna come out and say it." You said, "Bradley and I have been dating for 8 months." You finished and waited for her to blow up but she was just glaring at the two of you.
"Do the others know?" Natasha asked and you nodded.
"They found out last week when I went to drop something off to dad." You said.
"Why was I the last to know?" She asked still glaring.
"I know you wanted me to stay away from him but he's been so sweet to me. I know you were just trying to protect but Nat, I love him." You said she was still glaring but nodded and then turned her attention to Bradley.
"If you dare hurt her or break her heart. I'll be coming after you. I know where you sleep, and work, and you know how I am in the air. Not to mention I know her father." She said to him and he nodded.
"I'm not planning on doing any of those things. I love her too much." Bradley said looking at you dreamily and you looked back at him with the same look. Natasha saw this and finally stopped glaring.
"I am really happy for you guys. Still upset that I was the last to know, but that can be settled with you two buying me a drink at The Hard Deck." She said and you both looked at her and nodded.
"Deal." You and Bradley said at the same time.
"I'm gonna start making breakfast. Nat why don't you go and change?" Bradley said and she nodded and got up and headed off down the hallway. As she was walking she called over her shoulder.
"You better not have fucked anywhere in the kitchen or on the couch!"
You both laughed and shook your heads. You haven't yet but time will tell.

AYE!! If you love Top Gun, read this!!!
I have to fix my masterlist, but my sideblog is now @sappy-seresin rather than being @justblurbythings. I’ve been toying with the idea of making a Top Gun account for awhile now, and finally committed so that I don’t spam my fellow OBX moots with all of the Top Gun fics I’ve been working on recently.
Gimme a follow on that account if you’d like, I’m excited for the upcoming fics!!
