“I feel like I’m going to die.” Jude leans over one of the barriers on the side of the training pitch, trying to get so close to you that the top of the metal digs into his ribs. When he first saw you sit down all bundled up in your scarf he squeezed his hand so tight his knuckles turned white; like when you see a dog so cute you need to grit your teeth or a baby so sweet you need to pinch their cheek or you might just explode.
“Well, can you postpone that?” You fold down the page of your book to rest it on your lap. The same one you read aloud to him last night when he couldn’t get his eyes to stay closed. “Please?”
“We’ll see.” Jude wants to lean forward and rest his forehead against yours. He wants to pull away your hat and plant a kiss right between your eyebrows. He feels like he needs to for his own sake like it’s the equivalent of taking vitamins in the morning and washing his face after a long day.
“Are you just on a water break or are you free?” You ask, subconsciously moving your hand toward your bag in case it was the latter. You had both planned to get coffee and sandwiches, then to sit comfortably on a park bench people-watching. It was only through you that Jude had learned the delicate art of creating lives for complete strangers.
“Just a water break.” He holds up his bottle as if it’s proof. If he really was free to leave he would’ve been tripping over his own feet running to get changed before his coach could finish the sentence. “How’s the book going?”
“I’m not going to give it away!” You make a scoffing sound and lean forwards to swat him away. “It’s cheating!”
“It’s saving time!” Jude pauses to take a swig from his water bottle. There’s a droplet of water that runs down from the corner of his mouth and you brush it away with the pad of your thumb, and he feels his stomach do a little drop like he’s on a rollercoaster. “You won’t have to read it to me tonight.”
‘’You’re very impatient.” From anyone else, it could maybe sound meliaceous but he knows you like the back of his own hand, knows there’s not one nasty bone in your body.
“Only for you.” Jude scrunches up his face in preparation for your reaction to his cheesy line. When you stick your tongue out in mock disgust he wants to move forward just a tiny bit further and plant a kiss right on your lips, but he knows you’ve never been a fan of public affection. He takes into account all the times you’ve buried your face into his neck when he’s tried to kiss you in other people’s company, the times your face has heated up when he’s put his hand on your leg in public. So instead he just squeezes his fist so tight his knuckles turn white.

regardless of how the further results go and if we actually win anything under this manager, the way ange is committed to his attacking style and philosophy in the modern game that has become boring and risk averse is a breath of fresh air

i think it's worth noting that the two coaches in messi's life who were able to get the most out of him and get sainted in return are pep and scaloni, who have one thing in common: being obsessed with messi

N.F.L.’s Rapid Embrace of Gambling Creates Mixed Signals - The New York Times
"Since the Supreme Court struck down, in 2018, a federal law that effectively banned sports betting outside Nevada — a prohibition once backed by the N.F.L.’s commissioner, Roger Goodell — the N.F.L. has embraced the gambling industry. It has forged partnerships reportedly worth nearly $1 billion over five years with sports betting companies, and permitted a sports book to operate inside one of its stadiums. Now it even has a team in Las Vegas, which the league shunned for decades because any affiliation was seen as a threat to the integrity of the game.
Yet the embedding of sports gambling so quickly into the culture of the league has resulted in jarring contradictions. The N.F.L. is pushing to popularize and benefit from sports betting while still guarding against the potential pitfalls that it long condemned. While the league donates money to promote responsible gambling, its broadcasts are peppered with advertisements for sports betting companies. The N.F.L. is part of a growing apparatus that encourages casual fans to regularly place wagers on games, while punishing league employees — most notably players — who might do the same...."

Nah that's not how this works. Yes, we can leave the "do you condemn hamas" bullshit behind us, hamas isnt really part of the equation now, and had been nothing but an excuse to start the genocide as well, but let's not praise the other-- granted FAR SMALLER-- terrorist organization. Even if you dont count Israelis killed, injured, kidnapped, etc by Hamas, they have also killed and tortured Palestinians as well. Hamas has also been Israeli funded for the sake of causing the instability in Gaza. So let's not play defense unnecessarily wont we.
Hey babe ilu and I hate what Israeli is doing to Palestinians but rbing a post saying hamas is good and not a terror organization is uhhhhhhhh
your opinion holds no value to me.
israel is a terrorist organization.

Penthouse
They had the penthouse for the next couple of nights. The carpet under his feet was soft and the air crisp and cool, in contrast to the humid heat on the other side of the window.  Below was a sea of lights, half of them red, but they weren't stars. The vastness and beauty of the big American cities still got to Justin sometimes. This city was different. It was the other city of fountains, and tonight they flowed red.
“Here.” Adam was suddenly beside him, with two drinks in hand, one beer and the other in a fancy glass with a strawberry and lemon slice as garnish.
Justin tilted his head, giving the other a look.
“What? It’s got real strawberry and lemon, and the bartender loves Jurrasic Park. So I gave her some inside secrets.” He wiggled his fingers in quotation, careful not to spill his drink. “I got you a few beers and another one of these in the fridge.” Adam held up the alcohol that faded from a sunny yellow to brilliant red.
“How many of those have you had?” Justin studied the fancy drink, hoping to get a taste of it.
“One. Wanna try it?” A warmth like a chilly night, wrapped up in a blanket by the fire filled the space between them.
He hummed once the perfect balance of lemon, strawberry, and alcohol hit his lips. “ Dan planned this didn’t he?”
“Yeah, but the penthouse was Joe’s idea. “

If you're a football fan, you're gonna love this!
Liverpool FC and Google have collaborated on an AI model that provides advice to coaches on tactics.
In football games, there are teams of analysts who rewatch a lot of past football matches so that they can figure out what are the tactics of their rival teams and players.
Now this obviously is a very time-consuming process.
A new model called Tactic AI understands these tactics and player setups by watching tons of footages.
Image
It then uses predictive analysis to generate new tactics based on what it saw in the footage for the home team.
Image
Right now, the model focuses primarily on corner kick set pieces.
Image
In a blind test, Tactic AI suggestions were indistinguishable from human expert tactics.
Now all this is great, but it brings one question.
Do you think Google made a mistake going with Liverpool instead of Manchester United?

It's really frustrating to be trying really really hard and feel like you're doing the equivalent of paddling in place- even though you should be moving forward-
but the other person is not seeking out resources for how to paddle, or manage their part of the kayak, and you're starting to sink because of it.
And like, you know, if you're feeling the water on your ass, and you're at the front, they've gotta be up to their waist or more in it. But you're busy keeping things sort of okay, you can't check in on them. So you only feel that you're getting wetter than you should be, and going nowhere, and they're struggling. And it's your problem- because you're in the same fucking boat- but they won't take your help. They won't listen. They half hear the directions. They can't help it.
But after a while, it's so. Fucking. Frustrating. And it feels like it'd be easier, despite having made it so far, to swim back to shore alone, and try crossing again.
