“Donald’s an idiot.” — Michael Cohen, Trump's former personal lawyer and fixer
“Trump relentlessly puts forth claims that are not true.” — Ty Cobb, Trump's White House lawyer
“We can stand by the policies, but at this point we cannot stand by the man.” — Alyssa Farah Griffin, one of Trump's directors of strategic communications, now a CNN political commentator
“Donald Trump, who would attack civil rights icons and professional athletes, who would go after grieving black widows, who would say there were good people on both sides, who endorsed an accused child molester; Donald Trump, and his decisions and his behavior, was harming the country. I could no longer be a part of this madness.” — Omarosa Manigault Newman, a top aide in charge of Trump's outreach to African Americans
“I thought that he did do a lot of good during his four years. I think that his actions on January 6 and the lead-up to it, the way that he’s acted in the aftermath, and his continuation of pushing this lie that the election is stolen has made him wholly unfit to hold office every again.” — Sarah Matthews, one of Trump's deputy press secretaries, resigned after January 6th, 2021
“I think that Donald Trump is the most grave threat we will face to our democracy in our lifetime, and potentially in American history.” — Cassidy Hutchinson, Trump's final chief of staff’s aide

The public record:
** The Global Health Security and Biodefense unit — responsible for pandemic preparedness — was established in 2015 by Barack Obama’s National Security Advisor, Susan Rice ( here ). The unit resided under the National Security Council (NSC) — a forum of White House personnel that advises the president on national security and foreign policy matters.
** In May 2018, the team was disbanded and its head Timothy Ziemer, top White House official in the NSC for leading U.S. response against a pandemic, left the Trump administration…
…the Washington Post reported ( here ). Some members of the global health and security team were merged into other units within the NSC, the article said.
** The reorganization followed John Bolton’s appointment as national security advisor, and the departure of Tom Bossert, the homeland security advisor who the Post wrote "had called for a comprehensive biodefense strategy against pandemics and biological attacks." **

A seguir temos o Podcast Amplitudes do Instituto Tomie Ohtake.
The Getty: Art + Ideas é o podcast do Museu Getty focado nas coleções e exibições do museu.

“That scenario, code-named “Crimson Contagion” and imagining an influenza pandemic, was simulated by the Trump administration’s Department of Health and Human Services in a series of exercises that ran from last January to August.
The simulation’s sobering results — contained in a draft report dated October 2019 that has not previously been reported — drove home just how underfunded, underprepared and uncoordinated the federal government would be for a life-or-death battle with a virus for which no treatment existed.”
“In 2016, the Obama administration produced a comprehensive report on the lessons learned by the government from battling Ebola. In January 2017, outgoing Obama administration officials ran an extensive exercise on responding to a pandemic for incoming senior officials of the Trump administration.”
Good thing we war-gamed this, so we could be prepared!
The value of having a very stable genius as a leader.

HOLYSHITHOLYSHIT
A self-described "email prankster" in the UK fooled a number of White House officials into thinking he was other officials, including an episode where he convinced the White House official tasked with cyber security that he was Jared Kushner and received that official's private email address unsolicited.
"Tom, we are arranging a bit of a soirée towards the end of August," the fake Jared Kushner on an Outlook account wrote to the official White House email account of Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert. "It would be great if you could make it, I promise food of at least comparible (sic) quality to that which we ate in Iraq. Should be a great evening."
Bossert wrote back: "Thanks, Jared. With a promise like that, I can't refuse. Also, if you ever need it, my personal email is" (redacted).
Bossert did not respond to CNN's request for comment; the email prankster said he was surprised Bossert responded given his expertise. The emails were shared with CNN by the email prankster.
AND THEN!!!!
Masquerading as Priebus, the prankster emailed Scaramucci's official account using a mail.com account on Saturday, the day after Priebus' resignation was announced.
"I had promised myself I would leave my hands mud free," wrote the fake Priebus, "but after reading your tweet today which stated how; 'soon we will learn who in the media who has class, and who hasn't', has pushed me to this. That tweet was breathtakingly hypocritical, even for you. At no stage have you acted in a way that's even remotely classy, yet you believe that's the standard by which everyone should behave towards you? General Kelly will do a fine job. I'll even admit he will do a better job than me. But the way in which that transition has come about has been diabolical. And hurtful. I don't expect a reply."
The very real Scaramucci responded: "You know what you did. We all do. Even today. But rest assured we were prepared. A Man would apologize."
Fake Priebus wrote back: "I can't believe you are questioning my ethics! The so called 'Mooch', who can't even manage his first week in the White House without leaving upset in his wake. I have nothing to apologize for."
Actual Scaramucci responded: "Read Shakespeare. Particularly Othello. You are right there. My family is fine by the way and will thrive. I know what you did. No more replies from me."

Leaked Memo Proves White House Had Strategy To Deflect Blame For Inaction On Puerto Rico
Leaked Memo Proves White House Had Strategy To Deflect Blame For Inaction On Puerto Rico
As President Trump prepares to visit Puerto Rico on Tuesday, a leaked memo shows that Tom Bossert, Trump’s top adviser in the Department of Homeland Security, was preparing for the administration to blame any problems in the wake of Hurricane Maria on others as a way of avoiding responsibility for their tepid response.
Axios obtained a copyof the Bossert memo, which specifically noted that the…

Congress floor staff rescued the electoral ballots before the rioters broke into the building. Congress reconvened to finish counting the electoral votes. DC metro police are patrolling the halls. Photo. Pence spoke out against the rioters. McConnell called them an “insurrection” while condemning their behavior.

WATCH Jake Tapper DESTROY A Trump Adviser Who Tries Make Excuses For Neo-Nazis
For some reason, President Trump and members of his administration are having the toughest time saying anything negative about the alt-right/neo-Nazi terrorists who marched in Charlottesville, Virginia, Saturday, one of whom plowed his car into a crowd of counter-protesters, leaving one woman dead.
Sunday morning on CNN, Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert was asked by host Jake Tapper why…
