Spread this! On March 20, 2025, the Indonesian Parliament passed amendments to the military law, allowing active-duty officers to hold civilian positions without resigning. This has raised concerns over potential democratic backsliding.

Mass protests have erupted nationwide, including in Malang. On March 23 , security forces used excessive force against demonstrators, including medical personnel and women, violating human rights and democratic principles.

Press freedom is also under threat. The offices of Tempo magazine, known for its critical reporting, were targeted with intimidation. On March 22, they received a severed pig's head, followed by a decapitated rat on March 23, raising serious concerns about press safety.

On March 25, the police hijacked an ambulance with 7 female university student, 5 people who is in critical condition and in need medical help, and 2 medical staff. The police threatened the medical staff to drive to the police office rather than hospital.

On March 27, in Lamongan, protesters arrested by the police were forced to provide fingerprints and have their photos taken, which constitutes an arbitrary act. This also potentially violates the right to privacy and personal data protection.

Ada apa dengan negeriku ini. Belum juga persoalan mengesahkan dokumen yg mendukung gerakan LGBT selesai, muncul lagi masalah pindah ibu kota, RUU KPK yg buat KPK mati suri, di tambah lagi dengan hutang yang makin banyak, harga harga tidak terkendali dan sebagainya.

Alih alih pun tetap mendukung mereka, dengan kata rasional lah klo berfikir, pemimpin kita itu sipil rapi mental militer. Mental militer hingga pemilu kita berdarah dan merengut banyak korban?

Mana yang kurang rasional? Kami ngoceh tolak sahkan ruu yg mendukung gerak bebas LGBT? Yg geram dengan sikap pegawai KPK di jadikan ASN dan pemimpinnya harus dari polri? Penyidikan harus dengan persetujuan? Yang muram ketika pindah ibu kota menghabiskan uang yg banyak sedangkan hutang bpjs belum terbayar dan masyarakat yg di suruh menanggung akibatnya, dengan di naikan harga tarif pembayarannya?

Sebenarnya disini siapa yg gak rasional? Siapa?

Aku heran. Hingga segala permasalahan yg terjadi di politik ini, sadar gak sih sampai mengerogoti sendi sendi rumah tangga. Orang tua terserap hidupnya di pekerjaan. Untuk mengais rezeki yg katanya musim paceklik ini. Jauh dari Allah, jauh dari keluarga. Anak anak yg harusnya jadi generasi muda yg penuh keimanan dan ketaqwaan tak terurus dan salah arah. Apa apa serba susah, apa apa serba mahal, apa apa serba bayar. Dan para investor leyeh leyeh bahagia dengan perluasan kekayaan mereka.

Korupsi dimana mana, dan makin menjamur sedangkan upaya penindakannya di kekang.

Ini yang masih kurang rasional?

Tolonglah saudaraku, siapa sebenarnya yang kurang rasional disini?

Local news media barely show anything about the protest despite the brutality. Not because the journalists weren't doing their job, but because the press was threatened to not say anything bad about the government (the news is now showing about how hard it is to be a cop rn, and tried to gain public sympathy by showing sad police montage.. ew)

Many testimonials were saying they couldn't speak a word about it or they would be fired from their job and blacklisted from searching for other jobs

Journalists on sight were also reported to be caught by the police forces, stripped naked, and held in a secluded place (sounds familiar?).

Why does this need to be spread?

Because this event wasn't new, we had a similar thing going on years ago, so we knew the start of a new dictatorship when we see it. And back then, our voices were only heard after a worldwide protest

Secondly, our freedom of speech is limited, because we are being watched. 100million rupiah taxes are reported used to 'watch' Indonesian online activity (so hi BIN, if youre watching this, hope u enjoy the porn I wrote)

According to twitter, many accounts were taken down and even doxxed for speaking up. One of them (a self indulgent wattpad account, posting muti chapter mpreg omegaverse fic about our corrupt president and his equally corrupt bodyguard) got their house stormed by thugs paid by a political figure, but fortunately, the person was working in Denmark at the moment. So their home was empty, and they were protected under the law of Denmark, the case was handled by Danish police source

On a bright note, there were many international news outlet covering this despite our local news saying nothing (Singapore, Malaysia, Italy, etc). And ofc, CNN and the like were obviously told to report what the gov allowed to (the propaganda).

But with it, I hope it shade light to what's our government trying to hide

Police intimidated medical volunteers by searching their bags and ambulances without any evidence or a proper warrant. Once again, the Indonesian police are not acting proportionally, and the world must see this.

Police also blocked and stopped several ambulances on their way to help protesters. Stopping medical aid like this is a serious violation and should never happen in any situation.
