ALBUM REVIEW: Omega Infinity – Solar Spectre – Season of Mist If a band consists of members from Ne Obliviscaris and Todtgelichter, it's a fair bet that the results will be 1) bloody dark, 2) as mad as a sheep in a tree.

Platz 35: White Ward - Love Exchange Failure (Avantgarde / Progressive Black Metal)

Auch wenn Black Metal typischerweise Themen wie Natur, innere Kämpfe und Religion aller Arten behandelt, gibt es auch immer wieder Alben, die sich das moderne Großstadtleben und die Anonymität und Entfremdung, die damit einhergehen, vornehmen. Todtgelichters “Angst” kommt da etwa ins Gedächtnis, oder “13 Urban Ways 4 Groovy Bohemian Days” von Blutmond. Auch White Ward reihen sich in diese Riege ein und überzeugen auf “Love Exchange Failure” besonders in den Momenten, wenn sie ihren Sound mit kühlen, loungigen Jazz-Elementen verbinden, die gerne mal an Bohren & Der Club Of Gore erinnern. Das Intro des eröffnenden Titeltracks ist so ein Fall, oder das absolut fantastische “Surfaces and Depths”, ein Song, den auch Todtgelichter zu ihren besten Tagen hätten schreiben können. Würden White Ward dieses Niveau etwas durchgängiger halten und noch etwas eigenständiger und von ihren (zweifelsohne gut gewählten) Vorbildern losgelöster agieren, wäre dieses Album dieses Jahr locker in meinen Top 10 gelandet.
