I know, I know I've let you down. I've been a fool to myself. I thought that I could live for no one else.
But now, through all the hurt and pain, it's time for me to respect the ones who love me more than anything.
So with sadness in my heart, I feel the best thing I could do is end it all and leave forever.
What's done is done, it feels so bad, but once was happy now is sad. I'll never love again, my world is ending...
I wish that I could turn back time, 'cause now the guilt is all mine. Can't live without the trust from those you love.
I know you can't forget the past, you can't forget love and pride. Because of that, it's killing me inside.
It all returns to nothing.
It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down...
It all returns to nothing.
I just keep letting me down, letting me down, letting me down...
In my heart of hearts, I know that I could never love again. I've lost everything, everything, everything that matters to me, matters in this world...
I wish that I could turn back time, 'cause now the guilt is all mine.
Can't live without the trust from those you love.
I know you can't forget the past, you can't forget love and pride.
Because of that, it's killing me inside.
It all returns to nothing, it just keeps tumbling down, tumbling down tumbling down...
It all returns to nothing, I just keep letting me down, letting me down, letting me down...
It all returns to nothing, it just keeps tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down...
It all returns to nothing, I just keep letting me down, letting me down, letting me down...

An incomplete piece of concept art I found in my 2018 folder of Jalka [Jaller] and the different military ranks for fire villagers ["Toronaita"].
The notes at the bottom is me trying to divide military personnel into different ranks and see how many people would be needed, at minimum, for a semi-functioning military organization.
Lore/Worldbuilding: Fire Village + Military
All fire villagers are trained in military combat, with each citizen needing to complete a tour of duty for 2/3 of the year on a rotating schedule [with some exceptions]:
4 months of farming [various foods grown throughout the year]
4 months of stationary/reserve duty at the village,
4 months of scouting/island/"military for hire" duty across the region
Hairstyle determines the social position and/or military rank of citizens in Toronaita civilization. Those with more complex and/or lengthy hairstyles have been awarded specific honours in combat or military service, and as such, they are not required to shave their heads after their annual duty is complete.
Hairstyle 1: Civilian/Farmer hair
Hairstyle 2: Shaved head at the end of annual service [i.e. transition back to civilian duties]
Hairstyle 3: Traditional military service hairstyle, low rank
Hairstyles 4, 5, 6: Various military awards, honours, or rankings given in service [incomplete]
However, wearing braids, twists, or dreads in the hair without being given the right by a superior officer is a major offence and is akin to plagiarism or self-awarding badges of honour.

I feel like this would be something Tahu, (maybe) Jallar and or Ackar would do
Like sorry my first thought upon seeing this (even if it was from a stitch and I had to use the OG for this for better context)

Were Nova Blasts... Intentional?
So, today I watched @rahiwatching‘s Knowledge Tower video about Nova Blasts, and how actually in order to produce that much energy, Toa would have a truly obscene amount of energy within them.
And it made me think about something. Is the Nova Blast actually an intended trait of the Toa? Is it something they’re supposed to be able to do? Or did the Great Beings just... forget to put a cap on how much energy a Toa can release at once?
The Nova Blast is powerful enough that it can completely destroy islands. Both times it was used, this was expressed: Gali floods Karzahni (the island) entirely, and Jaller’s attempt, though suppressed, would’ve destroyed Metru Nui itself.
Now, the Great Beings are famously irresponsible. “Put a plasma cannon on a giant cyborg scorpion”- irresponsible. But I don’t think they would intentionally put something that could destroy islands vital to the GSR’s function within the GSR itself. It would be entirely counter-intuitive.
Accidentally, though? That, I buy. I could totally see them forgetting to set an upper limit on a Toa’s output- After all, they’re not meant to be sentient. Nothing in the GSR is. If the GSR’s population weren’t subject to the Awakening, and all acted fully within their programming for their entire voyage, then they never would’ve had cause to trigger a Nova Blast, and never would’ve needed hard limits set on their power, because there would be nothing dangerous enough to justify using that much of it.
So, without knowing that such a situation would arise, the Great Beings either forgot or considered a hard limiter irrelevant... until they began to consider the possibility of the Toa becoming threats upon the return to Spherus Magna, and thus, Marendar was born.
Now, the fact that the technique has a name means it must be something that the Toa are aware of, despite the lack of use, which could suggest that knowledge of the technique was wired-in by the GBs... but the Toa used to have a culture, and organised training, so it’s entirely conceivable that the technique was named by the Toa themselves (Perhaps by a Toa of Fire or Plasma, given the root of the word “Nova”), and then passed down by them, until it eventually reached Vakama, who passed it on to Jaller.
It’s also worth noting that, despite using the ability, Gali never refers to it by name.

My three most recent Bionicle drawings, together
I've been trying a new style with these, moving away from heavy lineart in favor of a painted approach. These are probably my favorite pieces I've made.
I've also received a lot of love and support here on Tumblr, though I haven't been here long. Thanks for sharing my work, it means a lot!

Shout out to Stuart Sayger for never drawing the mouth on Hahli Inika's mask literally one single time. Could've just been shorthand, but it's so consistent I could definitely see it being intentional.
This like instantly fixes her mask for me without actually redesigning it.
...this is basically her canon look in my head.

After arriving in Metru Nui, the Turaga began to occasionally call each of the Toa ‘brother’ or ‘sister’, partially an acknowledgment of their past lives, partially to acknowledge the success that the Toa Nuva have earned, and largely as camaraderie in the bond that they share as Toa or former Toa.
Tahu outwardly acts like it’s only right that he’d be addressed as such, trying to make others believe that he accepts it in stride, but inwardly, he is humbled by the acknowledgment. The Turaga see through his bluster and appreciate his humility.
Onua is outwardly quite humble and appreciative when it happens, but inwardly, he doesn’t quite see himself as being worthy of being addressed by such wise beings as the Turaga, who he holds in high esteem, so he usually comes off as a little bashful when he responds in kind.
The Turaga started being reluctant to call Gali ‘sister,’ largely because she reacts to the title, by pushing herself a little too hard to prove that she is worthy of the acknowledgment. She once to stayed up all night for two days while repairing an aqueduct in Ga-Metru, and when she could barely keep awake during a meeting with the Turaga, everyone immediately decided that Nokama should not call Gali sister anymore.
Kopaka typically glances at whoever called him this and slightly nods, sort of a polite acknowledgment, but those who know him best, especially Nuju, know that he is actually quite touched by the endearment, and he has to be stoic to keep up appearances. Whenua, having the best hearing, has multiple times heard Kopaka whisper ‘thank you, brother’ in response to Nuju or Vakama.
Takanuva started out being quite flustered when he was called brother by any of the elders, still being unused to being called brother even by the other Toa, but as he grew used to his powers and his responsibilities, he began to accept it in stride. He still won’t return the title, since he still uncomfortable with the idea of calling any of the Turaga by that term, but he is still moved by the respect they show him.
Lewa was delighted when they started calling him brother, But he’s also somewhat amused, often laughing when they call him that. To Lewa, it’s still difficult to imagine these wise old beings as Toa heroes, so he can’t always keep himself from laughing. Even so, he never fails to respectfully return the honorific.
The Toa Mahri have varying degrees of acceptance of the honorific. Jaller is proud to carry the title, and Hahli is eager to prove herself worthy of the honorific (though not as much as Gali). Kongo is a bit smug about it, Nuparu takes it in stride, and Hewkii tends to get sort of ‘aw, shucks’ about it. All of them are somewhat muted in their response, mostly because Nuju was the first to call them brother and sister. They all understand that Nuju calls them that as much as he does in memory of Matoro, and his regret that he never got to see his friend as a Toa and call him ‘brother’ in person. The Mahri learned the bird speak for Brother and Sister, and they always call Nuju brother right back.
And the Turaga universally agreed never to call Pohatu ‘brother’ again shortly after the first few times. After then, he began exclusively referring to the Turaga as brother or sister, always with extreme enthusiasm that the elders often find exasperating and often demanding fist bumps from any Turaga he encounters for days after. Most of them just quietly stopped calling him that, except for Onewa, who continued occasionally calling him brother when he felt he had earned it, but after Pohatu found out that Turaga Dume had been a Toa, the seven had an official meeting where they unanimously voted not to call Pohatu brother anymore. Matau still occasionally calls him that, though, because he personally thinks it’s fucking hilarious when Pohatu tries to fist bump Nuju.

I'm gonna be honest of the Kiina/Mata Nui ship, I really don't see the two as a romantic pair
But instead chaotic besties
Basically another Takua/Takanuva and Jaller, the one semi responsible one (Mata Nui) and the unhinged one who's always getting into shit (Kiina) but they're both a bit chaotic
