Oh wow how can I choose one thing, this question is so broad. There is so much I love about the fandom’s art/fics and I def go through phases. Especially with fics. But something that I love seeing pretty consistently is when one of the characters protects/defends another one. Biggest guilty pleasure. Gimme that protective!character tag. Let me see that beautiful art. Bonus points anytime its with characters that you dont expect. Like ohhhh boy I love me some protective mikey. Idk what it is about a character fighting on another’s behalf, but it gets me every time.

also kind of on this general line, I know we all love Dad Leo, I do too, but some people I feel... really go out of their way to try and divorce Casey Sr from Casey Jr as much as possible. like making him adopted is fine, but sometimes I see it pushed to "yeah, Cassandra found him so he's her "son", but really it was all the turtles" and I'm like ah man you don't have to do her like that

Casey loves kids, we see that with her brownie troop (she has some... alternative methods but she loves them!), she'd be a great mom, Leo can be a dad without you kicking Casey entirely out of the picture

Alright! Here we go! SO many good Leos out there. A reminder, this is just my opinion. If yours is different, we can still be friends and I absolutely do not mind hearing about your thoughts on why you would move any turtles to different tiers. A Tier: 2003: He is the most Leonardo Leonardo who has ever Leonardoed. Honor Boy has a great character arc. Always trying to be a good son/brother/team leader. 10/10

90's movie Leo: I mean, come on, that first movie. He fights for his family, he learns, he teaches, he leads. *chef kiss*

Bayverse Leo: Okay, I am so biased with this one. I love his dumb ass. But he's a good Leo. He tries his best to take care of his family. And when he makes a mistake, he learns and grows and becomes a better leader.

Rise Leo: A lot of Leo purists will say he is Not Leo. But I beg to differ. He's a fucking dork who thinks much too highly of himself. That's all Leo's. Only this one didn't get daddy's attention and discipline. Left to his own devices without Splinter putting responsibility on his shoulders, he's just a typical, goofy teenage boy. And he's hell of a lot of fun.

Mutant Mayhem Leo: I like this Leo. Stressed out, nervous, daddy's boy, trying to do his best while they eek into the world of adults. Just a Leo stepping into becoming a true Leo.

B Tier:

80's cartoon Leo: He has a very strong start at the beginning of the show. But in the later seasons, he gets stressed out and whiny, played for comedy. Just watch the first five episodes. He is choice.

IDW Leo: I haven't read all of IDW's run, but I really enjoyed the Foot Leo storyline. Solid Leo.

2012 Leo: I love him so much. He was my favorite turtle from this show. Even when the writing got weird, he was still a joy to watch. He gets B Tier purely for casting Seth Green and making me listen to his god-awful voice acting. Batman crossover movie Leo: Solid Leo. No character arc, but he was there being Leo. C Tier: 2007 Leo: Oooh, I'm going to get hate for this one. A lot of people like him. He could have made it up to a higher tier if he learned something by the end of the movie, but I don't think he did. Blatantly favorited to go travel the world, returns a hypocrite, getting after Raph for being a vigilante when HE had been a vigilante. As Raphael said, he is smug, he is the golden child. And he learns nothing by the end of the movie.

D Tier:

That's a tough one.... I really don't know how to answer this one. The arcs in Rise (which are the ones I remember much more clearly than any of the other ones fhdjfsgd) didn't last very long thanks to the show being canceled, but... Maybe Leo's arc from the movie. He matures a lot and we really see him Go Through It yk? fhdsjgf

THAT'S ALSO A TOUGH ONE... oh man.. There's so many good artists with great art, it's hard to choose a favorite.

Well... the first artist to come to mind is @kaysdenofchaos :) But I'm biased fbhdsjgfsbd there's no piece in particular that I'd say is my favorite. they're all good.... I would legit print their art out and pin it to my wall fhdsjgsdfgs

TMNT Character Ranking Ask Game: Raphael

Hhh you gave me the hardest one right of the bat-

So what I'm gonna say this is more of my ranking of the red banded turtle, there might be few missing so bear with me, haha.

(don't get me wrong I love all Raphs, I just rank them how I view them)

1. 2003 and 2012 Raph

I can't decide which one I like the most, or more like relate to at this point. 03 Raph is the one I grew up with and 12 Raph grew on me while watching the series, I love these boys (and they live rent free in my head a lot)

2. Rise, 2007, 87 Raph

These three goobers sometimes live rent free in my head (but not that often than 03 or 12), I like them in their own ways. They are unique I guess.

3. Bayverse Raph/Turtles take time and space Raph

This guy was so good at the movies/short and somehow.. relatable I guess? I can't remember, it's been a hot minute since I last saw those movies or that short? So much guessing haha.

4. Batman vs tmnt Raph

His whole speech about family sold me. He is maybe looking rough around the edges but he was good character imo plus I liked the movie as well

5. Mutant mayhem Raph

I have nothing against this guy, he just isn't present much in my head or in general I guess. He is still a good character and I like him. I liked the movie too

4.) I guess I became an official fan a little bit after the Rise movie came out. Of course, I had known about TMNT when I was pretty little cuz my older sib was a fan. I also watched a bit of the 2003 show and 2012 show growing up ✨

I think, for me, I would like to see more of Big Mama's assistant on my dash, but that's more so me just being out of the loop hehe 😅 There is another more serious topic that I would like to see be talked about, but I don't really have the words to articulate it currently.

33.) Whew, um...if not the 3K celebration I did for EMD (cuz that was so fun to create hehe~) then maybe some of the more rendered pieces I've made for my own au (rip TWFTB). Although, I love a lot of the stuff I draw for EMD for many reasons <3

Rise Splinter, hands down! The depth, the humor, and his zany antics are all just so great.

30) Common headcanon I reject

I reject the notion that Mikey is some sweet widdle baby boy. Yes, he CAN be a sweet widdle baby boy, but he is incredibly sassy and has a really fun dark streak. I just feel like in the fandom, he keeps getting boiled down into nothing but the therapist, or plot convenience, or innocent baby who can do no wrong.

35) Which character relationships are my favorite to write

I love to write the four turtle bros interacting. Sibling relationships are my absolute favorite to write because I can draw from my own experience with siblings-- the good and the bad. The four of them bounce off of each other, and there's always enough banter to keep a scene fun and exciting. I especially love Donnie and Mikey because of how different they appear, but how similar they actually are.

Ohai crow! :] Ready for my extremely passionate long winded answer that's been in my mind for months now? Gonna respond with rise cuz that's all I read

28) What is one thing you'd like to see explored more in TMNT Art/Fics

CASEY JONES AND HER DYNAMIC WITH THE TURTLES

What is her relationship with each of the turtles, splinter, and April post seasons 2? Where is she in the aftermath of the movie? How did she redeem herself and earn the turtle's/april's trust? How does she feel escaping a cult? What is it like to experience FAMILY. DID SPLINTER ADOPT ANOTHER DAUGHTER?

I could go on. She is prob rises most underrated character, mainly bc she gets over shadowed by junior. Which is sad bc SHES GOT SUCH GREAT POTENTIAL FOR STORIES.

I am gonna call out fandom sexism here. With my full chest I fully believe that if she were a man, we as a fandom would have more works of her. Especially bc imo Junior is less of his own character outside being a fish out of water and his trauma of the apocalypse, yet he's got TONS of fan works. He's the bucky of rise if you will. Whereas with Casey, she is passionate, chaotic, loud, will choose FIGHT every time, overly eager, wants to prove herself etc etc. She is rise's version of Casey Jones to a T.

And yet for being a prominent character in the main series, I NEVER see her in fics. She is relegated to "extra character we needed cuz we're sending in the calvary" bg character with like one or two lines. The only time I see Casey focused stories is when she's attached to a ship pairing. Which isn't bad or anything, I just didn't bother to read those cuz I want THE FAMILY FOCUS.

I would love to see the classic Casey and raph dynamic more. We got a little in the show when they were enemies, but I want to see their friendship form. Enemies to friends. It literally writes itself. And Casey and Donnie would be SO CHAOTIC. Take the two most dramatic characters, put them in a room together, and watch the shenanigans occur. Eyse's fic is the only one I've seen do something crazy with them and it's THE BEST. A spar between Donnie and Casey where he ends up enlisting the wood animals to assist him and Casey is just having the time of her life getting to go all out fighting someone? Eats that scene

So ya. Casey and the turtles. I need more of them. If anyone has ANY good fics with Casey in them, let me know. Cuz I just have two so far. (I'm promised a third as of today but I haven't read ch 25 of Spiders web with strings attached yet)

31 and 36 for the ask game 🏄‍♂️

Okay so I’m going to answer these in reverse because while I was thinking of the answer to 31 I ended up having a whole tangential rant and I’m going to put that part of my answer under a cut lol

36. I think Mikey is the hardest one for me to write. He’s easy enough as a side character, but when I try to make him the main character I have a harder time delving into his flaws and problems and what makes him tick as a driving force of the narrative. It’s something I would like to change, though, because I love Mikey a lot. I’m grateful to the people who write Mikey-centric fics because I can read those and learn more so I can better rotate him in my brain microwave haha

31. So it’s not necessarily that I dislike Donnie’s Gifts as an episode, but I do tend to pretend it didn’t happen most of the time, because I have no idea what to do with it lol. It’s definitely not meant to be taken too seriously and I think that’s fine, and I don’t really like taking it too seriously. But I am usually writing more serious-flavored fics, so bringing up that time Donnie put a shock collar on his brother feels…. well, it breaks the tone haha

I have enjoyed the occasional fic or comic that DOES choose to take it seriously but I prefer to just pretend it’s not there for my own work.

Mind Meld is kind of in the same boat but this is where I ended up going on a whole tangent so I’m going to put it under a cut

The thing with Mind Meld is I feel like they had a good idea but then lost the through line. I THINK they wanted the ultimate lesson for Donnie to be that he prefers his brothers the way they are, even if that means they don’t think and act like he does. And I don’t think this is a bad issue to tackle with Donnie. Overall I kind of like the idea of him using a machine to make his brothers more like him as a thing he thinks at first will be beneficial, so that’s not really where my problem is.

My problem with the episode is… it works? Like, they do the mission properly. And then the bros end up being even smarter than Donnie and better at doing things. So by the end it feels like Donnie isn’t reverting his bros because he misses them, it feels like jealousy. Especially because they start being actively hostile toward him.

If I were writing the episode, I would have them bungle the mission the second time too. And Donnie would not understand, because how could four of him have messed it up! But of course, it’s BECAUSE you have four people who all think the same way that it falls apart. They all get caught up in Classic Donnie Overthink and everything goes to shit. Mikey can no longer razz his tazz around an obstacle and Raph doesn’t want to use his fists for smashing and Leo is thinking straight forward and not in 4 dimensions.

Donnie having to come up with a THIRD plan, one that properly took his brothers’ strengths and personalities into account, and then convincing his Donnie-fied bros to think that way and thus accomplish the mission, would show that Donnie has learned the error of his ways and has come to fully understand the strengths that each of his brothers has even if they aren’t the same strengths Donnie has. Which is what Donnie’s Gifts was trying to do too but if they’re going to do the same story twice anyway might as well do it better the second time.

Anyway in conclusion Nickelodeon should hire me /j
