This is Maria Melendez, or if you guys remember in episode 7 when Marcel was talking to Gaston about "that airhead Marinette?"

Here she is!

Maria is from Mexico and the daughter of landowners in the central state of Jalisco. Maria is 17 at the beginning of the show, born on July 23, 1922. Her Uncle, Professor Eufemio Cervantes is a former WW1 vet who fought for France, and his son Carlos Cervantes fought in the Spanish Civil War on the side of the Republic.

Maria had escaped a rather bad situation back home in Mexico, and is now under the care of her uncle and older cousin. At first, while reserved and curious, she later opens up and finds a lot in common with Pierre. Both being older siblings who had to shoulder the burden of running the house as teenagers. Pierre keeps his crush for Maria a bit more subtle, while Maria is already ready for the wedding and the kids.

That is, until the German occupation rears its ugly head. Not to mention Hans has also taken a shine to Maria, mostly to spite Pierre for attempting to stand up to him. I got way more to say, but I'm busy writing a silly fanfic about it.
