So I went and tried to get further details on Kabr's fireteam, and as I was listening , I decided to make a list of what I could hear from him:
"They want me to send a message. The creatures will soon reach the heart of the vault. When they do they plan to destroy(?) the Vex. Once they take the Vex, they'll come for the light."
What creatures did he mean? Was he talking about the Taken?
"I have no idea where I am. My name is Praedyth, and I was a member of Kabr's fireteam. I just hope that someone will hear this. "
"I don't know why they're letting me speak(?). Now, after so long. But if anyone is listening, I came into the Vault with two others, Kabr was intense sometimes. And Pahanin was always talking to himself. But they don't deserve this. No one does."
Again, who is they?? Why wouldn't they let him speak?? What did Kabr and Pahanin not deserve?? Was it a reference to Kabr being corrupted by the Vex mind?? Was it a reference to their deaths, or something worse? And for him to ask why after so long, how long has he been there already???
"I think that's it. They're closing the door. I lived! Just remember, tell them, I live-!"
Once more, we see 'Them'. Who are they? The Vex themselves? Some branch off of the Vex? He must have been so happy to have survived the encounter, only to slowly wither away in the small chamber(?). Or was it some sort of room and he died of his wounds before he could actually get out?

I forgot I had this. It's a little poem/ short about the Vault of Glass and Kabr. I don't remember if I've posted this before but I'm reposting it cause younger me got this one.
For those who don't want to click on the AO3 link I will post it here:
The forbidden fruit taken, ripped from the ever watchful gaze of the judge's eye
The mirage of a star flickering silently from above, challenging, deciding
Alone and forgotten the titan's memories had been erased
There was nothing more for the legionless' fate
So he drank
felt the white organisms weave their way across his body's channels
Through his arties, through his veins
Across his sinnews and into his brain
A stray movement, no longer his
Accompanied by whispers of his sins
Until he found himself standing in front of his doom
With a defiant look and a hardy grin too
He ushered his light into a shield for you
So take it and use it wisely
For if you stray from your path the vault will consume you

Confrontation - Destiny AU
“You’re still leaving?”
So much for sneaking out before anyone else noticed. Kai reached up to pull his hood down a little lower and took another step away from camp.
“Stop,” Ty asked, and he listened, freezing in place like Europa ice.
“It’s time for us to go,” Erebus said, gently. The Ghost was drifting between the two lightbearers with the occasional jitter of its chassis. Ty waved him off and stomped up to Kai to grab his cloak.
“No, it’s not.”
“Yes, it is,” Kai insisted, turning to smack the Titan’s hand and glare down at him from under the hood. Neither of them were wearing their helmets and neither of them gave an inch under the other’s gaze. A breeze tugged at Kai’s cloak and the fur lining rustled with the same fervor as Ty’s hair.
“This was the longest you’ve been in a fireteam since I saw you trade your mark for a cloak,” Ty said after a long minute. He kept his voice low and soft. The others were still in camp behind him, chatting around the fire, distant enough to be unintrusive but close enough to catch the occasional peal of Evie’s laugh or Khadan’s impressions.
“You care about them,” the Titan said, and Kai felt it like an accusation.
“All the more reason to go.” Kai turned again and started walking away.
“Because you don’t want to lose them too?” Ty called, a little louder, “I was next to you at Twilight Gap, Kai.”
Kai started walking faster and then something heavy and hard slammed into his back and then he and Ty were both hurtling into a ditch, rolling in the mud until they finally came to a stop with Ty straddling the hunter’s belly, fists bunched in the cloak at his chest.
“Did you shoulder tackle me?!” Kai snarled and reached up to grab Ty by the straps on his armor with an annoyed expression. The Titan lifted Kai just enough to slam him back down.
“How many missions? How many did we lose in Saint’s Crusade before we lost him?” Another slam and mud squished and spattered under Kai. “I saw the aftermath of The Great Disaster too, we drank to Kabr’s memory together, we mourned them! Stop fucking acting like you’re alone in your grief!” Another slam in the muck and then they were rolling and brawling in the mud and grime until Kai’s superior size and experience swapped their places.
“Running away won’t save them!” Ty snapped. He was holding onto Kai’s wrist with one hand and the other was still holding tightly to his cloak. “Staying might.”
Kai panted for a moment, and they glared at each other until Kai let go of Ty with a little push and rolled off him to sit in the mud next to the Titan.
“Stay and help me protect them,” Ty asked more gently. He propped himself up on his elbows and pulled a knee up for leverage in a slow, back and forth roll to sit up.
“Not a Titan anymore.”
“I don’t care.”
“Protecting isn’t my job.”
“Yes, it is.” Ty grabbed the loose bottom of Kai’s cloak and held it up, shaking it in his fist at Kai. “You think changing the fabric you wear changed anything about who you are?” He slammed his hand back down and left the cloak in the mud. “You still move like a Titan under enemy fire. I saw the way you protected Evie when shit started flying.” Ty carefully got back to his feet and kicked globs of the muck off his boots. “I know I can’t really stop you, and I don’t expect you to wear your mark again, but you better be fucking sure that when you say you have to leave, that you’re not trying to convince yourself.”
At some point in the scuffle, Kai’s hood had fallen to his shoulders. He very slowly pulled it back over his head and got to his feet. The mud squelched as he pulled free and waded to firmer ground, each step pulling on him in agreement with Ty, begging him not to go until it was hard to tell if it was the nature of the mud or a weight in his heart making each step a little harder.
He glanced at Ty once more. The Titan was still watching him, waiting to see what he would do. Kai looked down, then back to the woods and Ty must’ve seen enough.
“You’re a lot of things, Kai, but I never would’ve called you a coward. Don’t condemn and abandon us for your lost hope. We’ll be here, when you’re ready,” Ty mumbled and then they both parted ways.

5 things your Guardian dislikes:
- Jokes on her accent (being bilingual) - Close-minded people - Tea - Dumb pranks - Dishonesty
Your Guardian has to rest. What is their living space like: A very basic studio situated in the walls. It's very cheap and consists of a small kitchenette, a simple bathroom with a toilet, a sink and a bath/shower and a bedroom with a single bed. There's a rather big window that allows her to see the Last City. She often naps on the couch near said window.
Does your Guardian have any casual wear?: Yes (see references pics on refsheet.net)
What hobbies and/or skills does you Guardian have: Surprisingly talented with piano and singing, a hobby she hasn't much practiced before getting access to a musical hall in the Last City (thanks to some civilians she aided). Maja's also a rather skilled mechanic and sometimes likes to hang with Amanda when she needs to clear her mind off of things.
What would your Guardian's lore book be called: The Moon and the lion
Where was your Guardian reborn?: Found by her Ghost somewhere in nothern Europe, Maja was first reborn from the light in an old military hospital. Something must have gone terribly wrong considering all the skeletons found within the facility.
What were they wearing when they were reborn: She had a bulletproof vest with a massive hole near her heart location, military trousers and boots. Her vest was so torn she had to abandon it. Her hair had remnant of teal in it, her brown roots showing up.
What was their reaction to being reborn: Fear and anger. Had Atawhai not been there, she likely would have hurt Little Sunshine. The Ghost doesn't hold it against her, but like to tease her about it when the occasion comes.
What was their reaction to their first rez: She threw up bile. Happened after training with Atawhai (she mismanaged her grenade).
After being reborn, did they meet friendlies first or hostiles: Friendlies. Quickly learned that other lightbearers might not be as friendly as her mentor and friend and thus distrusted everyone they met.
Who was the first other Guardian they met?: As said earlier, Athawai.
Did your Guardian get reborn with, or find, any indication of their past life? If so what do they have/found: An hospital plastic bracelet. Her name was somewhat intact, her birthdate only showing the day and month.
Going back to your Guardian's lore book, what would be some some quotes or passages from their book: "People always think of me as weaker. I think they forget that no matter my size, I remain a Titan. Ever seen a Hunter fly?" "Sometimes, I regret not having been the one to have a final death. So many have died and I feel powerless. But then I remember that... No matter what, if I'm still there, that means I have to keep fighting to protect the City."
Does your Guardian have a significant other: It's complicated. (Mr Crucible Handler and this fierce titan have their ups and downs) She hasn't truly set her heart in a place, her long life having seen too many go.
Did your Guardian go explore first before going to The Last City? If so, where to: Since she was rezzed during the middle of the Dark Ages, Atawhai showed her a lot of places.
What was their reaction to first seeing The Last City: Maja and Atawhai came back to the Last City when the walls were mostly built. They did help before regaining the wilds and exploring more in the search of possible civilians to escort/save.
Is your Guardian a part of a clan: No Clan
If your Guardian would have a quote as a flavor text for a weapon and/or piece of armor, what would they be: For a bow: "Funny how when you fire with a bow, it's elegant and silent, but when you get hit, it's like a whole tree fell on you." | For a shotgun: "Being up close and personal like that... Just don't get your hopes up."
If your Guardian has had any interactions with any civilians (The Last City/The Farm), Eliksni, Cabal, Vex, Hive, Taken, Scorn, Rogue Lightbearers, or Iron Lords/War Lords(if your Guardian is an Old Light) tell us about it!: During the Dark Ages, Atawhai, part of the Sunbreak order, had cordial relations with the Iron Lords. They both kept their distance but wouldn't mind helping them if needed. They also happened to have accidentally crossed on Shaxx's territory more than once, earning them a few deaths, but never a permanent one. Atahwai thinks it amused Shaxx in a way to see Maja getting so riled up all the time.
Does your Guardian have any unconventional allies or connections(By Vanguard standards): At the time, yes. Maja had connections with some Eliksni's from the House of Devils after helping one of theirs from a certain death from one of the less savory guardians. This earned them to be able to cross some places without being harmed.
How does your Guardian feel about themselves or others using Stasis: Maja is scared of Stasis, not trusting herself with those powers.
Did they run The Last Wish raid? How did they react to seeing a live Ahamkara a.k.a Riven: Maja was around during the Great Hunt. She was heartbroken that these creatures were murdered due to guardians/people using the power of the Wish dragon to do wrong. She however understood why it happened, but never wants to tell tales about it.
Did they run The Deep Stone Crypt raid? How did they react to the Crypt and seeing Exo Eliskni: -
Is your Guardian from D1? How did they react to seeing Taniks alive once again:[Insert string of swedish swear words from how upset she was]
Where did they go and what did they do during The Red War: Tried to help civilians escape as much as she could to the Farm. Almost got herself killed in the process trying to save a dad and his daughter while boarding Atawhai's ship. Had to recover for a while.
Here are some characters that are either polarizing or have created a strong enough mass emotion within the community. What opinion does your Guardian hold on each of them(These are only a handful of characters!)>>>
Osiris, First Warlock Vanguard, originally exiled: She has troubles wrapping her head around him. However, she deeply respect him, no matter how excentric he is
Eris Morn, Bane of the Swarm: Feels awfully sorry for her. Impressed by her.
Cayde-6, Sixth Hunter Vanguard: Finds him very irritable, but is a bit envious of his ability to defuse situations most of the time. His death came like a crashing wave, especially when she heard that it was Sentry who brought back Cayde's body.
Ikora Rey, Second Warlock Vanguard: Often talks with her when they have a bit of time, usually around a cup of coffee. Seeks her when she tries to figure her emotions out.
Commander Zavala, Second Titan Vanguard: Shows respect to him, they've always remained on strictly cordial and professional terms.
Saint-14, legendary Titan, First Titan Vanguard: Absolutely adores the Titan. When he first disappeared, she cried a lot, mourning a friend. Upon the news of him returning to the Tower after Traveler knows how long, was one of the first to greet him with the biggest Titan hug she could make.
Lord Saladin, Iron Banner handler, One of the last remaining Iron Lords: Dislikes him for his choices at Twilight Gap. Still shows him respect.
Lord Shaxx, Crucible handler, Hero of Twilight Gap, living megaphone: Has a strange relationship with the Warlord. Infatuated with him and wishes for more but their duties come first. Sometimes will spar with him, or just share a drink or two. Extremely admirative of him, she tries to outdo herself in the Crucible just to hear his praise on comms (and is often banned for the week for terrorizing the new lights due to it.)
The Crow, New Light, Ex-Enforcer to The Spider: Doesn't really interact much with him. Learned from Sentry about who he was and feels sorry for him.
The Spider, The Shore's Only Law, founder of "House" Spider: Would fight if she could.
Uldren Sov, Prince of the Reef, Master of Crows: Didn't like his antics at all.
Mara Sov, Queen of the Reef, Queen of the Awoken, Ex-Kell of Wolves: Respects her and will do duties if guardians are needed on the Reef. Curious about her. Learning about her and Shaxx's "affair" had her envious.
Variks, the Loyal, founder of House Judgement: No real interaction with him.
Mithrax, the Forsaken, Kell of Light, founder of House Light: Adores the Eliksni, taught him a few human things and will chase anyone teaching him anything wrong.
The Exo Stranger/Elizabeth "Elsie" Bray, Granddaughter of Clovis I and Sister to Ana Bray: Mysterious lady but likes her, especially since she's trying to save her sister in a way. At first, she was very suspicious of her due to her being a Bray.
Empress Caiatl of the Cabal Imperial Empire: Huge admiration on the Cabal Empress. Sparred with her and had great fun.
Taniks the Scarred, the Perfected, the Abomination, the Shadow Thief: Despises the fucker for killing Andal Brask. Can't believe he's not dead yet.
The Darkness is fast approaching. How is your Guardian handling it: Not too well. She is extremely anxious, especially since the Final Shape is upon them, but she will fight. Even if it means she'll draw her last breath. Little Sunshine is on board with it too.
And finally, does your Guardian have any advice for any New Lights: "Don't judge a book by its cover. I can toss a Hunter flying across Twilight Gap like no other."

365: May 8
Venus' sky was a slick yellow-green. A soft rain slipped from the perpetual clouds that always seemed to cover the campus around the Ishtar Collective. It muddled Kaley's vision as she was laid on her back in the mud and grass. The rest of Glitterbomb was doing the same. All silent and still as corpses. A bird flew over them. A Venus Poppycock, that's what they were called. Technically a lizard with wings, since avians hadn't spawned from the Traveler's Light here on Venus, but everyone called it a bird. They weren't like the little flying dragonets. It was small. Only the size of a wren, or a chickadee.
"We should go, right?" Nef asked from a few feet away.
"I think I need to lay here a bit longer," Grey said.
Comms fell quiet again for a few more minutes. Behind them the massive unwinding gate was closed but hummed softly with Vex energy. The spire hung as a mocking lattice in the air off towards the cliffs, curling with potential energy.
"Anyone want to talk about it?" Archie asked.
"No," Kaley's voice said, joining everyone's chorus over comms.
There was quiet again.
"We should though," Archie said. She turned her head when he sat up. Like the rest of them he'd long since lost his regular armor amid the unbuilding of Vex construction and Reggie had had to remake it all a new out of Vex pieces. Kaley could feel every piece of her new coat and armor. She could feel the way the dead Vex reached out to connect to her Light. It didn't speak but the helmet shivered and shimmered around her head like a living thing. The Vex that Amelia had made all this from were long dead but if she listened too closely she could hear it still.
"I don't even know what to talk about," Grey said, still on the ground. "I don't even know what happened."
"Rigel, Kaley, you know anything about this?" Archie asked.
"The Vex are not my area of expertise," Rigel said, voice strangely droning, glitchy almost.
"Kaley?" Archie prodded when she wasn't forthcoming.
She looked over at Rigel laying next to her. His helmet was almost a mirror of her own, a Vex head cracked open around a glass void. His was the shape of a harpy, while her's was a goblin. He looked back at her in that unflinching facade. But she knew. He'd seen it too. They'd both seen it. Down amid the Gorgons. She'd almost gotten lost but a voice in the network had brought her back to the others. She'd just seen a Warlock against the darkness of the labyrinth, a Vex lattice around his head like a noose. She thought it had been Rigel. When she'd found the others Rigel had said she'd been followed by something the others couldn't quite see. A figure in the dark.
When little Kassy had first asked her to help her on Venus weeks ago now she'd read up on some papers about the place. Nothing by Osiris. Mostly because everyone just wrote around him and included him. There was nothing about the Vex or Venus that didn't have his thoughts trailing through and personally Kaley found Osiris' research dry, difficult, to read, and completely self important to the point it was boring. And she'd come across Pahanin and his rambling madness a Warlock had written down one time. Probably just to shut him up. But she remembered the names he'd said. Over and over like if he stopped he wouldn't remember them. That no one would remember them. Kabr, a Titan, and Praedyth the Warlock, who'd been lost in a Vault of Glass where time stretched to the ends of the cosmos in all directions, melting together into the Black Garden and the fabric of reality.
They had both seen a Warlock down in the labyrinth. And all she could think of were the ramblings of a mad man. She knew Rigel had read the same report. She knew because she'd sent it to him. They'd had a little giggle about it at the time. What foolish things Hunters could think.
He was not telling Archie.
"I study birds, Archibald. Not the Vex," she said as the silence started to stretch almost too long and turned back up to face the sky.
She was also not telling Archie.
#365#writeblr#writblr#fanfiction#destiny#destiny 2#destiny the game#VoG was real fucked up when you think abt it

Help me lose my mind
A pocket in time where Kabr and Praedyth are both lost in time, Pahanin doesn't know why he's broken and Rezyl is desperately trying to keep both of them afloat after returning from a trip to Luna.
A Pahanin/Rezyl series.
All that we are, all that we need (they're different things)
Rezyl’s fingers scape over his scalp and then fingers cradle Pahanin’s jaw.
He follows the gentle tug, climbing over the man’s lap to rest against his chest. There’s a look on Rezyl’s face, sad and damning and when lips brush his own the ache in his chest flares.
And you believe something I can't define
“Do you ever feel like there's something out there waiting for you? Something that's missing from you?” He mumbles it to Rezyl’s skin, quiet and soft. He gets a sleepy hum in response.
“Like, some kind of destiny? A purpose?” The Titan’s gravelly voice rumbles against Pahanin’s ribcage like it’s empty.
“No. Just… gone. Like a piece of you has been lost.”
I'd rather be blind
“You’re tired Han, you just came back from a two-week rotation on Venus, you haven’t disgraced Hunters all around the system. C’mon, I’ll take you home.”
“No, it’s over Rezyl, the deed has been done, there’s no turning back.”
“I’m sure Kabr and Praedyth can forgive you.”
“Ah, home sounds nice, I can hide away from my shame. Yours or mine?”

Thank you for your additions!! The ending of the Vexcalibur quests + the Scribetracer shell loretab implies Asher got subsumed by the Vex network, but it's not clear and also Kabr's Glass Aegis lore exists, so it is entirely possible to be subsumed by the network and retain your personhood in its entirety. And this is what I choose to believe.
34. Ir Anûk & Ir Halak - the only way to unlock their Grimoire cards is killing them at Crota's death ceremony in Last Rites, they come back later in the raid. They're also the creators of the Oversoul, so it would be strange if they didn't have any means of preventing themselves from dying
35. Šimmumah Ur-Nokru - killed in Warmind, comes back as Lucent
36. Ecthar, Sword of Oryx / Shield of Savathûn - killed in TTK, comes back as Lucent
37. Vorlog - one of the Court of Oryx bosses, comes back as "risen in heresy" in Ghosts of the Deep and killing him over and over is part of the mechanics. Where do you keep all these corpses Sav????
38. Kudazad, Binder of Savathûn / Bound to Xivu Arath - a high value target from Titan, later their skull is found by Kelgorath and they get resurrected to serve Xivu Arath
39. Val Ca'uor - Spire of Stars boss who later gets resurrected and Taken by Xivu Arath, returning in Season of the Deep
40. Praksis the Technocrat / the Defiled - killed in Beyond Light, returns as a Scorn in Seraph
41. Phyris / Once-Phyris, the Exhumed Tether - Eramis' friend who was resurrected as a Scorn after death
42. Kabr - Kabr's Glass Aegis loretab quite bluntly says "i speak again and was wrong i am still him and i am now them" (a reference to iirc The Aegis grimoire card, where Kabr's last words are "If I speak again, I am not Kabr"), so. There.
43. Also you know whom I forgot the first, and second, and third time around? Fucking Uldren Sov / Crow
I’ve been haunted by this idea since yesterday so there it is, all Destiny characters who died and then it was revealed they were still, in one way or another, alive (in no particular order):
Taniks, the Scarred - a classic. died four (five?) times and it’s inferred he’s not quite done yet because I heard that after you defeat him in DSC you can still hear him laugh
Omnigul - died, then canonically came back (“undid her death”), which infers she has a throne world, and as we have yet to kill her in her throne world, she’s most likely still vibing there
Saint-14 - we’ve SEEN his grave, then Season of Dawn happened
Tevis Larsen - we see his body in the Black Garden, then years later Aspect is released and tells us how his consciousness is in fact very much alive and trapped there
Praedyth - we see his skeleton in the Vault, then, once again, Aspect is released and tells us he is still in some way trapped there. Now time is a blurry mush when the Vex are involved, but I believe what’s happening in Aspect is being caused by either the Darkness closing in on Sol or the Lunar pyramid stirring - so as this is a paracausal force, it can very well mess with Praedyth’s fate and allow him to escape the Vault safely before he dies there. If you want to debate this, @ing me is very welcomed!!
Ir Yût - we kill her in Crota’s throne world, but then she can be seen attending his death ceremony in TTK
The Undying Mind - the name says it all. We kill it twice in D1 and then it comes back yet again in Season of the Undying
Xol - we kill him in Warmind, but in the Whisper mission he still whispers to us and it’s inferred he actually lives, in some way, within the Whisper of the Worm sniper rifle
Mara Sov - she literally died in TTK and came back only because she found a way to escape into Oryx’s throne world and then into her own
Toland - he died (at least his body was sundered) but then also Ascended and is now an orb
Omar Agah - Eris (and all of us) believed him to be dead, but then we learn in Shadowkeep he’s actually a bug
Asher Mir - the Exodus quest and lorebook made it seem like he died, but then the friendly Harpy morse-codes “ASSISTANT” to us, so like… you know
Ana Bray - believed to be dead at Twilight Gap, turned out to actually be in hiding so she could discover her past
Lady Efrideet - believed to be dead by everyone including her closest friends (Saladin and Tyra), turned out to have run off to form a pacifist colony in the outer system
Nokris - we kill him in Warmind, he later comes back in Season of Arrivals
Sepiks Prime - we kill him in D1 vanilla, in RoI is ressurected by SIVA
Atheon - we canonically kill him again in TTK as a part of the No Time to Explain quest
Techeun Shuro Chi - believed to have died in the battle of Saturn, turned out she was Taken and later freed by Guardians
Techeun Sedia - same as above
Techeun Kalli - same as above
Paladin Leona Bryl - believed to have died in the battle of Saturn, turned out she survived and later was supportive of Petra in the political clash about whether she should take the position of Queen or not
Urzok, Aspect of Hate - formerly Urzok, the Hated, killed by Guardians and later resurrected and Taken by Xol, fought again in the Whisper mission
Drevis, Aspect of Darkness - formerly Drevis, Wolf Baroness, killed by Guardians and later resurrected by Xol in the same manner as Urzok
Ta'aurc, Aspect of War - formerly Valus Ta’aurc (yes, the Valus Ta’aurc), killed by Guardians and later resurrected by Xol. He is encountered yet again in Dares of Eternity, and from Xûr’s words it appears he recognises his killer so it’s still the same person
Crota - killed by Guardians, encountered again in Dares of Eternity - from Xûr’s words it appears he recognises his killer so it’s still the same person
Zydron, Gate Lord - same as above
This list is, by no means, complete, because Bungie can’t keep a corpse a corpse and we will probably see more of dead characters returning to life in the future.

whos kabr??????
Kabr was a Titan who entered the Vault of Glass with his fireteam, consisting of a Warlock called Praedyth and a Hunter called Pahanin. The trio got stuck in the Vault (with the Templar and the Oracles). While Pahanin managed to escape the Vault, both Praedyth and Kabr died inside. It's also heavily implied that there were three other people with them (for a total of 6), but the other three were erased from time while in the Vault.
Kabr ended up drinking radiolaria and began converting into a Vex. Before his death, he used his Light to craft the Aegis; a shield relic that can be used in the Vault of Glass raid to get past the Templar. Without his sacrifice, we, the players, would not be able to get through the Vault of Glass.
Kabr, Praedyth and Pahanin were a fireteam for a long time before their incident in the Vault of Glass. They also participated in the Great Ahamkara Hunt together.

The Sentinel
“You are the wall against which the Darkness breaks.”
Naomi repeated the old adage of the Titans endlessly in her mind as the Cabal pounded on her fireteam’s defenses. She was a Defender, and would have to stand strong against all odds. Even when outnumbered by the hundreds. Sand sprayed everywhere, creating a dust storm lit by the rain of slugs and microrockets aimed at the Guardians.
“You are the wall ag-
"How can we live if I do not move!?"
The voice inside her head screamed out, clashing against the gunfire. Her fireteam had retreated as far as they could, and now their backs were to the wall. Their Light diminished ever so slowly, yet constantly. The Cabal did not recklessly push forward, but rather bombarded the Guardians until they either died or retreated. No one had died their final death. Yet.
A click from Naomi's gun dropped her heart into her stomach. Jax-3 and Tojr were low on ammo, and now she was the first to run empty. She clenched her jaw as she ducked back into cover, narrowly avoiding a salvo of slugs on her end of the barricades. Their Ghosts had gone quiet, and the only words exchanged between the Guardians were curses.
"I am the wall."
Naomi knew the problem that Defenders had long before this fight, that their immobile Ward meant that they would always need to position themselves at the front. Always.
It had been a small mistake. They were reinforcing another fireteam inside a Cabal base when she thought she saw a downed Guardian. Naomi ran over to the body to check for vital signs. Next thing she knew, she was thrown through the air, her ears ringing, until she slammed into the wall behind her. Her Ghost quickly healed her wounds but that was all the time needed by the Cabal to leap into the field and suppress her team.
"And now my friends will die. Because of me."
Tears welled in her eyes. She could do nothing. No ammo. No retreat. Her Ward of Dawn would grant them more cover, but it would only delay the inevitable. She needed a weapon.
Naomi focused her Light, channeling it through the Void. She had heard whispers of a shield forged from the body of a powerful Vex, infused with the Light of a Titan. There were far more voices that scoffed at the legend.
"Can I make a shield from just Light?"
She heard her friends say something, along with the silence from their weapons.
"I must."
The Titan shot out from her cover towards the Cabal, Void Light rippling across her torso. The other Guardians shouted, and ran after her. All that Naomi could see was a shield, a mighty aegis that would not only repel the Darkness, but crush it.
The Cabal aimed at the Titan in front.
Naomi roared, summoning her Light outwards.
A blinding flash ripped away her vision, but Naomi stood her ground. As her eyesight slowly returned, Naomi saw her aegis along with every slug, every micro-rocket, and every grenade thrown her way eaten by the Void. The Titan roared again, pushing forward. Orbs of Light spewed uncontrollably from her. As soon as the gunfire relented, Naomi threw her aegis into a Centurion and watched as it ricocheted across the enemy, sending them into the Void. Behind her, a gun ignited, and a storm was called.
"I am the wall against which the Darkness breaks."

Vex Mythoclast
…a causal loop within the weapon's mechanism, suggesting that the firing process somehow binds space and time into…
Type: Fusion Rifle
Slot: Kinetic | Energy | Heavy
Element: Arc | Solar | Void
Perk: Timeless Mythoclast - This weapon fires full auto when in its default firing mode.
Trait: Temporal Unlimiter - Defeating targets builds stacks of Overcharge. Hold reload to swap firing modes when fully Overcharged. In Overcharge mode, hold the trigger to charge up and fire more powerful linear fusion shots.
Masterworked Trait: Calculated Balance - Higher stacks of Overcharge improve stability.
Ornaments: The Untold Tale, Clast of Its Own, Infinite Gift
Origin & Description: The Vault of Glass is another liminal space like the Black Garden, but unlike the Garden it was created by the Vex. Well, I say created; once it existed, it had always existed. Once we broke it, it had always been broken. But before we broke it (which never happened, until it always had), it served as a kind of transit nexus outside our normal spacetime through which the Vex moved in pursuit of their usual unknowable Vex business. At the center of this center: Atheon, Time's Conflux. It is impossible to say, and to some extent does not matter, if Atheon created the Vault or if the Vault created Atheon. It is impossible to say, and to some extent does not matter, whether Atheon was a vast lynchpin Mind of the Vex labyrinth or a spacetime crossing guard directing Vex traffic. The suffix "-clast" means "breaker," so a Mythoclast is someone who brings down a myth; and indeed Atheon might have been one of the closest things the Vex had to gods - or it might have been little more than an extraplanar stoplight. Either way the Vault stood outside of time (until it never did), linked to every Vex conflux, and at its core glass-clad Atheon wove threads of causality all across our universe.
Standing outside of reality, the Vault had to fabricate its own, and that means that within it Vex controlled the horizontal and the vertical. Like the Infinite Forest it became an endless Guardian bug-zapper as fireteams dared the Vault to explore, to loot, or just to see what was inside. Virtually none returned. Some who did told stories of stepping through alternate futures and pasts, of encountering terrible Vex enemies that didn't need to resort to anything so crude as bullets - they could simply observe you and decide, in this local reality under their control, whether you existed or not (they tended to pick "not"). Some Guardians described the Oracles, Vex computations that examined your past and fixed your future, asserted your doom. But the Guardians that matter here the most are the fireteam of the Titan Kabr, the Legionless.
Kabr led six Guardians into the Vault but now only three of them ever existed: Kabr, Pahanin, and Praedyth. The Oracles saw the others and decided they weren't so now there were only ever three. They were a true fireteam; not an impromptu group convened by necessity like the one that pursued Crota, but a full long-term Guardian fireteam, Titan Warlock Hunter, meant to endure - much like another three-person fireteam that dared a Vex dreamland and came to a bad end. For people who can expect to live forever, who can expect to literally die for each other multiple times per mission, the bonds of a true fireteam are a marriage and more. So, dangerous as it was, Kabr, Pahanin, and Praedyth went into the Vault together. Only Pahanin would ever leave.
Praedyth survives, somehow, perhaps. Praedyth was captured by the Vex and endured inside the Vault, assuming it makes any sense to speak of time passing inside it. We saw his bones and his Ghost but that doesn't mean much in there. He sees many timelines, past and future, this one and others. He sees Elsie Bray, the Exo Stranger, stepping between them. He sees other shapes we know whose presence in the Vex network is unsettling - Taeko-9. Asher Mir. Praedyth still has the wrapper from a candy Pahanin threw at his head half an hour before they entered the Vault. It's worn soft and folded into the shape of a crane. And when the Vex in the Garden wake again, ringing to the signal that heralds the Darkness, he sees the manifold realities within the Vault change as well. He makes contact with the many exploration copy-teams of the original Ishtar Collective scientists. They pool their knowledge, try to understand what's coming and what to do about it. Praedyth knows a Guardian is always sure to pay attention to their gear, so when he sees Elsie Bray, he copies her rifle - building the original No Time To Explain - and etches his own warning into it: "Soon." He may have escaped; he may still be escaping right now. Time is strange in the Vault.
(But I hope he escapes. I need another crazy Vex warlock to be crazy warlock friends with while Asher's off having fun in the Pyramidion.)
Pahanin, the Hunter, made it out; how, we don't know. Before the Vault Pahanin was well-known for his many quips and jokes, which were collected into the Pahanin Errata. He liked puns because they annoyed Kabr and squid because he thought they were cool. Don't sweat it if humanity does go extinct, he said. You're just giving the cephalopods a chance. After the Vault, bereft of his fireteam, he built the machine gun Super Good Advice with its onboard AI - not to make it better in combat, but to talk to him, because he'd become terrified of ever being alone. But poor Pahanin wasn't done being a bystander in Guardian history. During a Crucible match he became the first Guardian to fall to Dredgen Yor's Light-devouring Thorn.
And Kabr. Kabr was named well; "qabr" is Arabic for "tomb". As his fireteam fought the Templar and its Oracles, who doomed them to fall over and over, he gathered up the destroyed frames and armored himself in Vex carapaces. Captured and surrounded, deprived of his weapon and his Ghost, he made one last play: he pierced the Vex-made reality of the Vault just enough to let in a ray of Light. With that ray and with the ruins of the Vex he had destroyed he poured the last of his strength into a weapon, and because he was a Titan of course it was a shield. The Aegis of Kabr focuses Light for its original purpose: to defy predestination. Kabr completed the Aegis and declared, "Now it is done. If I speak again I am not Kabr." Then he drank the radiolaria and became something else. With the Aegis we can strip the Templar's shields and block the Oracles' blindness, letting us take them out and causing possibly the greatest feed message in Destiny: "Guardians make their own fate."
And after you kick Atheon into a mess of glass splinters, the Aegis has the most important boon for a Guardian: loot! If you're lucky it has a bright gold engram for you containing the bright bronze gun Vex Mythoclast. Looking like a mix of the Vex hobgoblin frame's Line Rifle and the goblin frame's standard Slap Rifle (who named these), Mythoclast is a Vex weapon from an alternate timeline in some distant corner of the Vault where Vex weapons are a) separate from frames and b) usable by humans. Don't think about it too hard. Mythoclast acts just as weirdly as its origin might suggest; it's typed as a fusion rifle but has zero charge time and fires full auto in its default mode, more like a full-auto scout or regular auto rifle. Build up stacks of Overcharge and you can swap it into essentially linear-fusion mode, firing long-range shots that require charge time but hit much harder. Once you complete the catalyst - which requires locating and standing on several Vex plates inside the Vault, then shooting the Oracles that appear, then stepping through a familiar gate - each stack of Overcharge will also steady the weapon's aim. It's a surprisingly useful oddball (especially in PvP), but, like other recent raid weapons, isn't a gamebreaker. At least it better not be, because Atheon still won't cough it up for me. Come on, glass-buddy! It's time, right? Eventually it will happen! So it might as well happen now.
UPDATE January 2022 of this timeline: Finally got it! And it rules. You guys should get this gun.

Okay but can we acknowledge the tragedy of Pahanin's story. Long ramble below (I don't think it's finished or makes sense)
I'm not sure if this is before the vault or after but he looses Wei Ning and eventually Erianna (he introduced the two of them so we can infer he was friends with at least one of them)
He goes into the vault with his fireteam Kabr and Praedyth. *If the lore tab Epistemic is to be believed, they were a team for five years. They end up getting trapped inside the vault having to either fight or avoid an insurmountable amount of Vex forces. There is quite littlerly no hope of escape whatsoever. At some point he sees Kabr drink radiolaria which slowly begins to covert him and Praedyth gets imprisoned by the vex and is brought to the cells in the gorgon maze.
* this is conflicted in the original D1 lore where Pahanin states that him and Kabr were not friends but rather he knew of and respected the Titan. Either Bungie retconned this or the Praedyth recalling this is not from our timeline
This leaves him and Kabr. Pahanin apparently was always talking to himself (I like to interpret this as him being stressed and just trying to sort things out. Give himself some companionship). Kabr doesn't remember him. Pahanin and Praedyth's existences are wiped from his mind, for that is the fate for those who fall in the vault. Not just fall but become apart of the vault. Still he watches this sturdy, respectable Titan fall to the vex alone. This terrifies him. Since he notes that Kabr fought the Vex alone we can infer that Pahanin watched from the shadows or used his invisibility to help him get out (he is a void weilding hunter after all).
He manages to escape after Kabr cracks the Vault in as his final act as Kabr. This allowed Pahanin to escape. Pahanin is afraid. His friends existences are wiped from people's minds of those outside the vault. He's afraid of being alone.
So what does he do? He creates a gun with an ai that talks to him so he is never alone again.
Pahanin is somewhat scholarly. He reads and writes, giving advice to other hunters (for example how to get Titans and Warlocks how to agree to do something). He seems to be at least somewhat well liked, and well known. Still he carries around the Super Good Advice.
Then there's one fateful crucible match. He is up agaisnt no other then Dredgen Yor. Yor takes his light and in the end he dies alone with nothing but a jagged thorn sticking out of his corpse and his drained ghost.
Now this part isn't 'canon' but I can speculate. I doubt Yor would kill him in front of any surveillance cameras. He could've sure, as a message and a show of prowess but that also runs the risk of creating too many complications for Yor himself. Anyone that could've seen probably was either distracted or taken care of in one way or another. Pahanin's gun may have been tossed or dropped in the exchange. So not only is he facing fear of permanent death he is also facing his overwhelming fear of being isolated. And in many ways I'm sure that's almost worse for him.

top 5 dead guardians >:)
Such cruelty! I approve.
5. Andal Brask - I love all the old stories of Cayde and Andal, but I gotta admit a lot of my love for Andal comes second-hand through Cayde.
4. Kabr - my buddy Kabr here sacrificed his light and let himself become subsumed by the Vex just to give us a means to survive the Vault of Glass.
3. Wei Ning - Wei Ning was just the coolest Titan ever. She’s out there moving mountains with her punches and shit, 10/10 very cool very sexy. Trying to 1v1 Crota was a bit of a bad idea, though you gotta admire that spunk.
2. Asher Mir - I just miss this cranky old man :(
1. Cayde-6 - this really goes without saying, doesn’t it? I’m just glad he got the send off he did. Forsaken is what got me back into Destiny, and it still is my favorite campaign in the series. It’s the moment shit got personal, and I can’t help but make a new character every few months just to get a chance to replay it.

Analysing the Evolution of Destiny‘s Art Style, Prelude 4: A random note on asset recycling
(Oh boy it’s been a while)
(Uni’s been a lot)
So.
I realise this is probably something quite well known to many, but I’m quite stupid, so.
A while ago I realised that the rear cuisse plate that wraps around the lower thigh on Kabr’s Forceful Greaves is the same Bit as the spauldrons on gatewatch type 3 and 4, and that the Infinite Lines/Prodigal Titan greave’s cuisses are the same Bit as the spauldrons on the Hardcase Brawlers in D2.
So now I’ve decided to make a list of all the common bits/assets that get reused in interesting ways in different armour pieces (interesting as in “used in different ways” like a Bit being used as a spaulder on a gauntlet and being used as a codpiece on a pair of greaves, or a Bit that normally gets used on chestplates being used on the faceplate of a helmet)
Anyway, the basic point of this post is this:
People used to complain all the time about D1′s constant recycling of assets for weapons and armour, but now that they’ve moved to bashing on D2′s art/design style and claiming D1′s was perfect/is superior, there’s a significant amount of people who say D1′s recycling of assets was the main reason its designs were better because it made everything feel like it all belonged to the same world/fit together/etc .
(This is the same argument some people have made about halo 4 and 5, where they claim H3 and Reach had better customisation because their nature as an “everything works off the same base, the only full replacement you get is shoulders, knees, and helmets, and everything else is just an attachment to the base spartan” type deal made every spartan look like they still belonged to the same group — something along those lines, I’ll find the posts about it at a later point)
Now, the thing is, (as already indicated above) there’s more than one type of asset recycling D1 uses
There’s “asset recycling” in the sense of bungie reusing the same arrangement (helm, chestplate, gun, etc) with the only difference being in its colour scheme/dye layout
There’s “asset recycling” in the sense of bungie reusing the same core arrangement with some minor tooling differences (some shotgun shells here, a grenade there, maybe some extra minor superficial panelling, etc)
And then there’s “asset recycling” in the sense of bungie reusing individual bits and minor BoBs (armor plates, belts, etc) in different places and ways on different armour pieces
I’m personally not particularly fond of the first. I understand why someone might like it; namely, because sometimes you get an armour piece that, model-wise, looks great, but doesn’t go well with your current colour scheme (even with shaders), but the other piece that’s the same model with a different dye layout does. However, I really think the better solution for that issue would’ve been for bungie to just give every armour piece multiple dye layouts that a person could switch between and apply shaders to. That said, I’m not particularly opposed to this form of asset recycling if there’s a major difference in how the colours/dyes are applied (like faction logos, paint patterns (think raku gwener type 1), etc)
The second I’m actually not particularly opposed to. In fact, I quite like it. I do wish bungie hadn’t used it for armour sets and pieces from different patterns though (for example, arihant type 3 and 4 having the same model as mycanae type 0). I think this type works best when it’s used for different versions of the same armour pattern.
The third is my favourite, mostly because I really like seeing how bungie’s artists managed to use the same bit/BoB for completely different armour pieces and types and have it both look good/like it belongs there and not have it be immediately obvious what they’ve done (usually, at least)
some examples of the third type under the cut:
the little armour plate that wraps around the back of the thigh on kabr’s greaves is the same bit used for the gatewatch type 3 and 4 gauntlet spauldrons and gauntlets, and also the same bit used for the forehead plate on the firebreak type 2 helmet
The stratus 3.0b grips’ left spaulder is the same as the codpiece on the fieldplate greaves, and stratus 3.0′s left spaulder is the same bit as the overplate cuisse on firebreak and gatewatch type 2 greaves
And for an example of this in D2, the cuisses/thighplates on the prodigal titan/infinite lines/etc greaves is the same piece as the spauldrons on the hardcase brawlers is (almost the same piece) as the spauldrons on the intrepid explorer gauntlets (except on intrepid explorer they’ve been mesh deformed or something to conform to the arm’s shape)
(no images for this because I’m lazy and don’t want to boot up d2, but I’ll have actual images for all this in the actual writeups)
also this bit
(the isosceles trapezium thing) gets reused everywhere (not literally, obviously. But I’d be willing to bet it’s one of if not the most common bit across all armour pieces)
#Robot analyses Destiny's artstyle#Destiny#Destiny the game#Robot's Rambles#This has been sitting in my drafts for ages#(edited it to add some stuff shortly before posting)#so if this reads like a mess that's probably why#also if the thing about the third type of asset recycling has been a well known thing for ages#and I'm just. massively behind on this (which I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case)#sorry I am big dumb

I've never posted a Nettle-11 timeline???
And I realized during timeline crafting that Nettle-11 never knew Tallulah Fairwind because she died during the Great Ahmkara Hunt (GAH). Oops. In theory that makes her Vanguard the third or fourth Hunter. Aparajita-4 or Kauko Swiftriver. OR MAYBE THERE ARE MORE HUNTERS THAT WERE CAUGHT IN THE DARE I DON’T KNOW THERE ARE ALREADY TOO MANY!
Nettle-11 gets rezzed by Dart right around when Kabr and Praedyth are lost to the VoG somewhere in the Siberian Arctic. She had died out there because in her previous life she had remembered that her purpose lay within a snow covered place. It wasn’t Mars (too red), Europa was off limits, so she came to the logical conclusion that exploring the Arctic would be a good place to start. Naturally Nettle-10 would run out of resources and die due to cold exposure. There’s more to her pre-guardian life, but I’m not writing about that right now.
Nettle-11 get’s picked up by the Six Coyotes in their bandwagon a little time later (this is when Dart gets her name). She arrives shortly after the Battle of Burning Lake has concluded. Hunter Vanguard is heading the operation on the Moon (until lore says otherwise), Saint-14 is out on his crusade which makes Zavala is in charge of Titans, and Osiris is doing as Osiris does (Ikora is attending all the meetings in his stead). The Great Disaster happens shortly after she finishes basic training, but she’s late enough that she isn’t asked to fight on the Moon. Instead she takes off into the Cosmodrone.
Nettle-11 spends most of the time in the Cosmodrone learning Eliskni and comm tapping. Then she sends her translated notes to the Vanguard. Zavala and Ikora see her reports and forward them to Saint-14, who uses that intel to track and eliminate Fallen leadership. (Saint-14 also sends letters to Nettle-11 in thanks. Nettle-11 remembers a charging Exo with Saint’s colors crashing into a winged machine. She never says anything). Despite being out in the field all the time, she gets a rep with intelligence under ‘Fallen Comm Cracker’.
Eventually, Nettle-11 joins Ikora’s hidden network with plans to intercept Eriana-3’s team (an exo curls digits around white threads, spinning them until a white curtain is dispelled, more bronze machines advancing) on the moon. (Her Hidden ID is D427) Most of her time is spent watching the House Exiles until Eriana-3 (dancing fingers across a datapad, muttering), arrives with Toland the Shattered, Eris Morn, Vell Tarlowe, Omar Agah, and Sai Mota. Nettle-11 asks that the fireteam wait until she can set up a distraction for the local Eliksni that scavenge the area and that Toland. After she sabotauges an Eliksni ammo depot, she returns to find the fire team gone. So begins Nettle-11’s vigil.
When the Guardian arrives on the Moon, it’s with Zavala’s permission. He doesn’t know that Nettle-11 is stationed on the Moon. She spends most of this time distracting Eliksni from the Guardian’s presence. When they wake the Hive, Nettle-11 sees her transmat out. (Strength, Care, Authority, a Rifle, the scream of a banshee, Doctor-) The moon is opened once more, and Nettle-11 begins forwarding House Exile movements to Zavala.
Things begin to pick up. It’s Nettle-11 who finds Eris Morn and helps her ship escape the Hellmouth. Nettle-11 is joins the fireteam of the Crota’s End. She supports the Guardian with the Void at her fingertips as they strike Crota down with a hive sword. When the House Wolves rebel, Nettle-11 meets the Reef’s crows and trades intel. She leaves the moon to other hunters and begins cracking Wolf comms. She meets Variks, she finds the Tangled Shore, meets the Spider, and spooks them all when she speaks perfect Eliksni. (Oh I’m sorry, was this supposed to be your secret code language? -Dart)
Then Oryx arrives. The Fallen are smart enough to avoid the Dreadnaught. Oryx comes for them anyway. Oryx tries to capture her as well, but the Hive God is occupied with the Guardian who struck the final blow. Nettle-11 does not step foot on the Dreadnaught. Her time is spent on the Shore with Spider’s Crew, slowly eradicating all the new Taken (did you think that there weren’t Taken on the Tangled Shore? There were, but now there aren’t), the occasional Crow appearing with communication from Variks and Petra until the Taken are dead or confined in the Prison of Elders. Then she begins assisting Cayde-6 (a flourish, a shot, the start of a fire, a spray of white), in tracking down the Scorned Barons.
Shiro-4 (a flash, bronze bodies fall), and the Guardian deal with the SIVA outbreak in the Plaguelands. Zavala and Ikora ask her to assist with Fallen code breaking, but Nettle-11 finds that SIVA has permanently altered the comms into something alien. After the static from SIVA is removed, Nettle-11 translates the silted, robotic sentences. They disturb her.
Nettle-11 is in the Reef when Ghaul arrives. The red legion systemically destroys all communications and prevents air travel. Nettle-11 is Spider’s Den waiting for the legion to pass when she feels it and Dart drops out of the air, only reflexes letting her catch the customized shell that contains her ghost. Dart’s voice crackles, Nettle-11 drops to her knees and- (watches as the bronze Minotaur brings it’s foot down, hears the scrunch of metal, feels the pain as it all goes dark) blackouts.
No one notices.
Nettle-11 wakes up to a lightless world and decides that makes things a bit difficult. She was tracking down the Scorned Barons for Cayde-6 (a warning, a shot, a bronze body crumples), but her Vanguard isn’t responding. Neither is Ikora. Instead she get’s transmissions from Zavala about Titan. Dart isn’t doing well, but with their ship Nettle-11 shoots the Commander a message about the Eliksni activity on Titan. She doesn’t mention Misraaks, the Forsaken. Then she returns to Spider’s to continue tracking Pirrha the Rifleman. Her light returns to her in an appropriately dramatic moment. Araskes has trapped her, Pirrha is lining up her shot, when light ripples through the system and surges within her (The Banshee ROARS) and she grabs as many knives as she can, spinning, running, and then she’s killed by Pirrha. But not dead for long, Dart gets her back up before the Trickester can confirm her body and then she finally springs her own trap on Araskes forcing the Rifleman to retreat.
Nettle-11’s response to Osiris’ return is “typical Warlock logic”. Then she pauses before admitting that it’s also “a very Titan response”, to try and bare the entire world alone. Really stupid too. She’s not the person to go through the Infinite Forest, nor does she respond to Ana Bray’s SOS regarding Rasputin. Her hands are full with the Prison of Elders, Cayde-6 (a deck of cards, glimmer chips, snow), and helping Petra lock up various Red Legion officials. Finally the Scorned Barons are put away and maybe she can relax.
Cayde-6 (flashy, confident, skilled), is overconfident. He takes the Guardian with him to the prison. He should have taken Nettle-11. He should have been cautious. He is now dead. Nettle-11 mourns her friend, following Hunter tradition of taking up her favorite Vanguard (but not mentor, just a friend, she’s not the Guardian). The Guardian kills Uldren Sov, but Araskes and Pirrha are her kills.
Nettle-11 leaves behind Eliksni to study the Scorn. A strange mix of Taken energy, Ether, and Hive Ritual stitch together their bodies… and something else. Nettle-11 finds it all disturbing. So she focuses on answering the call from the Dreaming City. She raids for the first time since Crota to fight Riven. She watches as the cycle begins. Then she speaks with Mara Sov for the first time. She asks about House Wolves. Mara casts her out.
Nettle-11 isn’t interested in Ada-1’s foundry, the Drifter’s schemes, or Calus’ gifts. Nettle-11 works with Spider to once again clean the Shore, and spots something interesting. It’s Uldren Sov. He has a ghost. But it’s not Uldren Sov. His posture is all wrong. His eyes are bright, but scared. He curls in a white sheet.
Not Uldren. A young guardian. A guardian not ready for the Tower. Nettle-11 fights to meet with Mara again. Nettle-11 has some glimmer, but she has always been a forward scout, and she needs the Queen’s vaults in order to save a young guardian. She tells Mara about the young guardian that has her brother’s voice. Mara throws her out again. Nettle-11 fights again to enter. Her plan is to have Mara pay Spider to ‘protect’ Not Uldren. It takes her two more visits to get the glimmer and message delivered to Spider. Spider himself is easy to convince, she just has to pass along the glimmer and pretend to be a messenger with no idea as to the contents.
The discovery of the Pyramid pushes Nettle-11 to return to the Moon. She confronts the shades that she had previously walked among for decades to arrive at Eris’ side. The Guardian slays Crota’s shade, but Nettle-11 is busy helping Eris. Nettle-11 remembers Eris and Eriana-3 (weaving a song with wires and gunshots as bronze flies) and their fireteam. She remembers regretting letting them entering the Hellmouth. After the Shades haunt Eris, they come for her. Nettle-11 looks at each guardian Shade and remembers finding the body torn apart by desperate House Exile then left to freeze and burn in the sun on the barren Moon. She remembers ignoring the bodies for fear that revealing her presence. Now she and Eris quietly put the remnants to rest. Many of the Shades remain, but Nettle-11 begins to feel a sense of peace. Returning to the Moon makes Dart nostalgic. They whisper about what they’ve lost, how far they’ve come.
The Undying Mind is destroyed in a very Titan manner by Ikora. Nettle-11 notices because of the Vex on the Moon. She hasn’t fought Vex since hunting House Wolves on Venus. She had forgotten…how familiar it was. But it’s Saint-14’s (a resounding headbutt) return that stuns her. Every Dawning she returns to the tower to greet Eva Levante. This year Saint-14 (laughter, chilling, a machine roars) greets her in the Tower. And he remembers her. He calls her sister, thanks her for her intelligence during his crusade. It’s strange how warm he is. Nettle-11 learns that the Guardian fought across the Vex timestream to save him. He asks for her help in building the relay network. She helps set up the relay on the Tangled Shore.
Rasputin takes out the Almighty in a show of power. Ana Bray should be proud. Then the Darkness arrives and Rasputin is gone. Nettle-11 doesn’t join Eris and the Drifter in their attempts to commune. Spider has been keeping her away from the Eliksni crews, but she still listens to comms and hears rumors of House Salvation. Someone is uniting the Eliksni, but Nettle-11 is uncertain as to who. Not Misraaks, his House is Light.
Nettle-11 arrives on Europa before the Eliksni attempt to harness Darkness. She watches the hum and chatter of Riis-Reborn in it’s full glory. Spots Variks recording, sees Eramis leading. But she also sees the Dark in Kridis, the wrath in Phyksis, the cruelty in Praxis and knows that this peace won’t last. She contacts Misraaks, giving a warning and a time to prepare as she slips into the city to try and contact Variks. She’s unsuccessful.
Instead she spots Elise (TRUTH).
She follows her former leader, sees her contacting Eris and the Drifter. Memories sing, but Nettle-11 doesn’t reach, just basking in the feeling of being near Dr… Bray. Yes, that’s Dr. Elise Bray. One of the Good Brays. XXXXXXX was also a good one. She fills Nettle-11 with hope and purpose in simply existing.
Nettle-11 returns to providing reconnaissance, when Variks calls for aid, it’s not the Guardian, but she who answers. When Eramis makes contact, Nettle-11 and Dart make sure to reply in Eliksni, telling her that she could have had something beautiful, that Riis-Reborn could have been a gem, but her ambition and bloodlust have ruined it.
