Find the word tag game
I was tagged by @lividdreamz to give this a go! My words were rich, luminous, sweet, milk(y), and pure.
Rich
Triad, Aza's POV
Seriito came from his hotel room dressed in dark, rich browns, with his middling-brown herringbone peacoat buttoned over his turtleneck. “Not wearing the dress out, huh?” The door clicked shut and they started to leave the hotel. “Nah, it’s gorgeous, but I just wanna have a quiet night with you. It’s more of a party, club dress.”
Sweet
The Fourth Android (prev draft), Dez's POV
She went to the grid’s tank access, a round-cornered metal door set in the back wall. The door came away from the seal in the frame with a sticky sound, and as it swung open, a sweet musty smell spread into the air. Past her shoulder he could see a tank completely covered in the orange-red of iron rust. Tirias sighed hard through her teeth and turned back to them. “You’re fucking kidding me.” No one had taught him the sign for fuck, but he couldn’t infer any other word from her expression. It was then that he realized he wasn’t looking at a rusty old metal tank—he was looking at a normal clear glass one full to the brim with rustmold.
Milky
The Fourth Android, Anni's POV
She couldn’t tell how tall they were with the difference between the boat and the dock, but they looked slim, with grey bark that furrowed vertically so it looked like their body was covered in red-brown stretch marks. Their eyes were the same brown, with whites that were actually the milky green-tinged color of the wood of a new twig.
Pure
Triad, Aza's POV
Most of the time she didn’t think about it, but in that moment she envisioned her revenge, over and over again, a hundred different scenarios where her parents knew they’d been owned and embarrassed and one-upped. Social humiliation. Property destruction. Mind games. It was all technically possible, difficult at best, and not at all in line with who she actually wanted to be. But she couldn’t help feeling that without an extreme, there was no way she could make her parents bleed the way she and Seriito had. The thing was, nothing had to be this way. They had tried to break the idea gently. To slip it in subtly. But it wasn’t like they didn’t know their parents—didn’t know it would become a tabloid sensation and a drop-dead drag-out battle for dominance. But what could you expect? Their parents, through a combination of their own trauma, a belief that the only way to make their past suffering matter was to continue on as monarchs, and pure obstinacy, had rejected them out of hand again and again.
I'm tagging @cnjosephs and @frank-in-space (no pressure though!). Your words are network, salvage, cute, endless, and luminous.
#writing#tag games#excerpt#wip: triad#wip: tfa#I knew when I saw the word luminous that I probably wouldn't find it#apparently I used it once years ago lol#it typically is a little too fancy for my writing style#which means that Hoven definitely says it at some point#tbh the scenes that the Triad excerpts come from are some of my favorites in that weird little half-draft#I was tempted to include Aza's whole meditation on her revenge fantasy just because it hits me hard#the scene with Seriito is also just super sweet#also full of trauma discussion but the important thing is that they are lovely to each other#c: Aza#c: Seriito#c: Dez#c: Anni#Tirias#wizardly things

Cuthbert: Tilly! My face is on fire! Tiria: Are you ok?! Cuthbert: Oh yes, I'm fine. I just said that to make sure you'd come in here quickly. Tiria: But your face is on fire. Cuthbert: Yes. It's much faster than shaving.

Queue's empty, bring out the old fantrolls
God I loved them dearly. Come, let me ramble.
Tirias and Tarbel are besties. It's the Jock Prep solidarity, but it's also no pants solidarity and it's ALSO freak solidarity. Tarbel is a cryptid hunter and a conspiracy head. She lines everything with copper because she thinks it intercepts anyone trying to microwave her or scramble her brains or something. She hunts monsters in the woods and, after finding a dead body, more often than not ends up accidentally solving murders. She's just a stressed and wrong goth freak who is also really good at disproving her own cryptid conspiracies, meanwhile Tirias stole her wallet once and that's how they became friends. Mind Player.
That's what's hiding in Tirias' pockets btw, he's got a thing about wallets specifically. He takes off the sweater and shakes it and wallets fall out. It's like collecting trading cards except the IDs let him break into places and get free money. He also orders his starbucks orders in parts, in individual cups and drinks the ingredients one at a time. He's an average terrible customer on Alternia. He's an obsessive, a surfer, and a slasher fan. He's also a regular listener to his boyfriend's horror movie analysis podcast. Heart Player.
Rokoan is the only cool one but that's because they've honed the technique of being so eyebleedingly noticeable that they wrap back around to being invisible. That's how they like it. They want to do things on their own time without people expecting them to be better. No Self Development we take our time and accept limitations and be gentle with ourselves and do what we want as individuals. Their entire life changed thanks to a cool older brother who helped them recover after frying their hair with bleach and the olive barista who showed them how to lace their shoes in the shape of a star. Void Player.

I would love to know about the elbas sitcom AU (<- big sitcom enjoyer)
Tbh it wouldn't be that different from their actual lives, lol, just played up for comedy. Also this was such a fun response to write that I did not stop myself and I just kept inventing stuff.
A lot of these characters are discussed in this powerpoint post.
Some recurring bits:
No one can remember Casper's name even when he's standing in front of them, except Nidilaenn (his kid) and Vinnek. They all call him Pa (which they do IRL) or some random name ("he has a John face"). Regardless of whether he's there or not everyone is always talking about his whirlwind romance that took him out to the Vale and left them with one less prankster. You know he always returns for the solstice episode.
People go "where's Nidilaenn" and then we immediately cut to Nid in their boat. The funny part is where the boat is this time.
"El this might be easier if you don't get so frustrated" [Ellery turns back toward the camera with the nastiest look on his face] "I'm not frustrated"
There's always a new random nonroot staying at the Yellow House to witness the shenanigans and mostly laugh them off as "wow this island is weird haha"
The nonroot is also always shocked when they find out that they were not wrong, Madge is in fact twice her husband Rigo's age, and those ages are 120 and ~60.
Madge and Rigo are only on the island half the time. The other half they're traveling the mainland and getting called back to Elbas for increasingly ridiculous reasons. While they're away someone else has to care for the lighthouse (which is why IRL they don't actually travel that much).
Herric is always meddling in something. Frequently it has a butterfly effect, where they do something tiny like borrow Milo's butter and by the middle of the episode the island is in shambles.
Herric and Urielte are the "they should just be together" couple of the series, and to be honest they don't disagree (like if they just said "nah we're friends" people would drop it but they've never said that). However they do keep coming up with increasingly silly excuses for why they won't (the real reason is Herric doesn't want to have another breakup and Urielte just doesn't give a shit about formalities).
When someone needs information, Vinnek always has a book on that. Unless it's about legal histories or contract law, in which case Milo has a book on that.
Ysa sets the mood perfectly as a bartender but never serves alcohol. Thon keeps coming up with increasingly complex names for thons juice cocktails.
While working at the docks or the lighthouse Rigo has seen sea monsters of all kinds and just shrugs it off and goes back to his book.
Madge has a bike. The island is small. She tends to ride down the lighthouse hill into town but sometimes she rides into the sea instead (Rigo: [looks up] Madge: [rides right off the end of the dock] Rigo: [goes back to his book, then does a double take]).
This would make more sense in an anime but I thought it so I'm going to say it: sometimes Nid and El grab hands and go "because the power of friendship" with the dramatic eye shine and everything.
There are as many explanations as to why Rae is missing a leg as there are islanders. Even she doesn't give the same answer every time, but she always mentions the ankle bracelet she lost.
Some episode concepts:
Some nonroot comes to stay at the Yellow House and Tirias starts spending all her time with them. Ysa and Amadjes are like "you should branch out" and Tirias is like "noooo" and all bashful about it, because the reason she's hanging around them is because they understand her obsession with an extremely niche media property that no one else gets.
A nonroot can't tell the difference between Amadjes and their cousins Amelie, Aloysius, and Asteras and convinces them all to make increasingly strange fashion choices. For some reason their dad Emil was off-island when this happens and upon his return he can't tell them apart because of the fashion.
Milo's parents Marietta and Tem come to visit and it's a series of humorously awkward interactions between Milo & Herric and Marietta & Tem, to the point that Herric will say something like "what the fuck" to Marietta (their kid) and then immediately turn to Tem and say "I find this somewhat confusing". When Milo mentions Tem to the Council they all offer their own advice: Ellery talks about not getting frustrated, Nid wants to formulate a strategy based on who swept who off their feet, Patience suggests getting kombucha-drunk with them, Tirias says to look for their passion. Somehow all of these become relevant over the course of their relationship-building.
Someone discovers that "the reason" Herric and Urielte won't officially get together is because they don't want to move into each other's houses. So they orchestrate moving one to the other, then vice versa, then into a separate third house, and it all goes really badly and they have to be moved back.
After the previous episode, Herric's ex-wife and estranged son return to demand something from them, probably money- and/or goods-related. Herric ends up moving in and/or getting the equivalent of a Vegas marriage with Urielte to fend her off. Everyone is disappointed when they ultimately undo it all.
Binna's launch is approaching and Milo is just trying to enjoy spending time with her but everywhere he goes are just silly reminders that she's leaving ("that weirdly suggestive calendar has a rocket in it!").
Patience's teenage grandkids come to visit and everyone is super impressed by them because uep twins are rare. They use this to their advantage. Everyone also wonders whether Patience knows what's going on, because of course they pull the most nonsense when she's not around, but she knows exactly and she thinks it's incredibly funny to play the doddering old lady.
Rae gets into a dispute with the owner of the Evly radio station she runs a weekly music show on. Madge (her sister) and Tirias (who regularly plays on the show and also has technical knowledge) decide to team up and start an Elbas radio station. This turns out to be a lot harder than they expect. It would be fun if they managed it though because then we could have a radio station set.
The port authority of Port Danziger, which is several hundred miles away on the mainland, approaches the Council and suggests they pay for docking rights even though that doesn't make any logistical sense. Nidilaenn sets out to discover whether it really is that far to sail (answer: yes) and encounters a variety of nonsense situations on the way.
A new arrival asks about Rae's leg. She says it was a sea monster. We then discover that the sea monsters only Rigo seems to notice are in fact real, but don't really hang around the island because there's not much meat there. The new arrival does not succeed in locating Rae's fabled ankle bracelet.
Following the previous episode, a human sneaks meat onto the island, which causes a massive uptick in sea monster activity. Something something an entire suitcase getting dramatically thrown into the ocean. NO MEAT ALLOWED goes unexplained into the visitor rules and the mainland press has a field day with it.
Casper returns for the solstice episode without his wife (the one who swept him off his feet and caused him to move away). He says it's because he wanted to spend time with Nid, but Nid becomes increasingly suspicious that something is off. They get sent on a wild goose chase wondering if Casper ever even got married only to discover that their stepmom was late because she was bringing a surprise for them.
Vinnek gets haunted by the ghost of Fira past, and while the moral of the episode is that they have to remember the good times they had with Fira and stop getting on the network to listlessly search for Fira, there's a lot of snarky humor on the way. Depending on when this takes place, there will also be the ghost of Casper past (not intentionally a reference lol the importance is that Casper was and is a good friend of Vinnek's who also left the island) and potentially the ghost of Dez past (another friend who left).
A paranormal investigator shows up and insists the lighthouse is haunted. Everyone says no, the lighthouse is not haunted. Eventually the investigator turns out to be right, though the spirits haunting the lighthouse are just chilling and that's why no one thought it was haunted.
Rae, Tirias, and Ysa team up to turn the pub into a club for Jes's birthday, with the heavy bass he so loves (he's deaf). Unfortunately they instead succeed at blowing out Ysa's custom skylight and invoking the ire of Ellery, one of the few people on the island who has ever been to a club. In the course of putting in a new skylight they hatch a better plan: a sort of silent disco-esque setup where they will not shatter the skylight a second time.
For some reason Haskell has to leave the island for a bit and asks Nid and El, who have been considering having kids for a while, if they would watch Lacey. I feel like everything that happens after that is just par for the course for having a 4 year old around but still it seems like even Nid will have changed their mind about kids. When Haskell gets back and is like "haha hope that didn't put you off of sprouting" the two of them are like "nah. we'll survive it with the power of friendship" with the whole solidarity clasp and everything. Then the shine fades and they say, "in five more years maybe".
Tirias becomes obsessed with a wedding shoot he found on the network and starts bothering Ysa and Jes about it. They misunderstand and think what he wants is to get married when in actuality he just wants to have an event for wearing a princess dress. By the time they get on the same page Ysa and Tirias are practically standing at the altar (I don't actually know how Elbas weddings work but you get the idea). But in the end Tirias gets what he wants and they don't actually get married...probably.
I think there should be a season devoted to Dez being there too, with episodes such as:
The rootspace episode, where Dez figures out how to decode the chemical messages of rootspace and becomes obsessed with sharing rootspace with people ("for the love of god Dez PLEASE use your words I'm tired").
The radio show episode, where Dez becomes the synth.
The toilet humor episode, where Dez discovers that one of Elbas's imports is literal shit, which goes into the dirt beds they root into at night. Have I mentioned Dez doesn't really get toilet humor? Uep and neriem, however, do on some level, even though that's not how their digestive systems work.
The laugh scale episode, where Dez notices that making serious Milo laugh is a particular point of pride among the Council. The Council in turn notices that Dez has never once laughed and try to figure out what would make him do so. 50/50 chance they either realize he can't/doesn't laugh OR some random apparently nonhumorous thing happens at the end of the episode and Dez snickers, which is enough of a laugh to celebrate.
The prank episode, where Dez takes the role of the answering machine that has a bunch of snippets of someone's voice to remix except he has extensive recordings of most islanders, which makes it extra fun. He starts pranking people with Nid but as people discover the prank they join in, and after a few days everyone on the island is in on the prank and there's no one left to bother. But then Casper shows up.

Just had the sudden realization that I could do the most fucked thing ever to my new ocs.
Long story short because their backstory is actually very important here:
- Tirias and Phosza used to be best friends/borderline boyfriends (read moirails)
- Complicated Shit Happens. Phosza has died, and his ghost has possessed Tirias’ eyes. Tirias is now blind, and Phosza can see through his eyes
- Relationship turns more antagonistic (read borderline pitch). Each blames the other for his situation, they argue a lot, and don’t trust each other
- In present time: they’re slowly rebuilding that trust.
Back to my main point: it occurred to me that I could bulldoze all of their hard work and trust by splitting them apart again, but only after they’ve reached a point where being apart would do more far more harm than good to their relationship and individual growth. Essentially, waiting until they have grown to accept their partnership and care for each other, and learned how to trust each other unconditionally.
And better yet: paralleling their pasts by having them put blame on themselves this time. They doomed their narrative by wishing that they could go back to the way things were. It doesn’t matter how much one loves, trusts, and relies on their other, because the ball was set on this path since before their session began.
Also, I think this could lend itself to a very interesting ascension and/or first death for Tirias*. If they split, and if Phosza gained a physical form, what if they killed each other? What if that doomed the timeline, and that’s why the session had to be Scratched? What if them separating directly doomed the timeline, because they have a player with no dream self, no planet, and no personal client, who was never supposed to exist in the game independently from his counterpart?
Of course, they probably wouldn’t remember this (at least, they shouldn’t if I’m remembering how Scratching works correctly). If this were formatted like an MSPA, their journey would be purely for the readers to observe and absorb the changes in their dynamic.
I’m starting to lose track of what little cohesive train of thought I initially started this post with. We’re going to call this one quits until I can make my brain work again.
*Technically, Phosza can’t ascend because he died prior to the game starting, and only has an aspect and land because he is tied to Tirias
#I’m now realizing that all of this is borderline incomprehensible and may violate canon#but fuck canon I make my own rules#I am incredibly exhausted and I think I developed a headache during the last couple of paragraphs#spaceheatertalks#homestuck#tirias esprit#Phosza gaasts#placeholder oc tag

INTERDIMENSIONAL BOOK 1: SEARCH FOR THE LEGENDARIES (PROLOGUE PREVIEW)
Humans, spirits, universes, and everything inbetween... All of them had a lifespan. With a beginning and an end.
This created the Balance. The Balance that kept the fabric of Existence togather.
Nihynia knew this by heart. Thus she worked, lived, and strived for the Balance ever since the moment she had emerged from the Essence of the Might, alongside her sisters.
As Life, Time, and Space... They were the Balance.
They made sure of the beginning, middle, and end of everything. Every world. Every life.
As with everything however, some attempted to tip the fragile scales of the Balance to their favor.
There was one in particular. One self-contained Multiverse plagued with this danger.
Eight Alters.
Where one of their own had rebelled them.
Threatened by the doom of their worlds, the people of Eight Alters resisted.
They ran, hid, attempted to fight back, and prayed.
Yet all their efforts proved futile, as this ever-growing force conquered six of their worlds. Gatheting more and mighty followers along the way.
Nihynia thought this Multiverse came to its inevitable end. And she assumed the Balance could only be restored with her gentle touch as always.
However, Life and Time had other plans.
At last, Life had heard the pleas of the Eight Alters' people, and conjured a piece of her Essence, a fraction of her heart, into a source of power.
Nine other beings followed her lead, giving a piece of their power - a part of their very soul - to help bring back the Balance.
Nihynia was one of them. She and Darkness descended on Yugenri. One of the only two worlds still standing and able to fight. And gifted to the defenders the ten power sources.
A piece from ten of their hearts.
The Ten Values Of Existence.
Life, Time, Space, Nature, Technology, Mind, Soul, Body, Light, and Darkness.
Forged into ten crystals by Tivadar and Mehenilda Karril. A pair of craftsmen with unmatched talented and unparalelled resolve. Then given to ten heroes relentlessly fighting to bring back the Balance.
The Ten Legendary Carriers.
Equipped with the power of these crystals, and with the support of a Spirit destined to accompany each of them, as well as Darkness himself to back them up; they battled again. More fiercely than ever before.
They did succeed. Yet only partially.
The enemy was defeated and sealed away, yet still had influence on his followers. The followers whom survived that was.
They wereva small group, in hiding. Preparing for their lord's return.
And the heroes. The Legendaries...
Most of them were weakened beyond saving. Wounded, cursed, drained, fatigued...
Their allies hid them in Tiria. The only world in Eight Alters that was unharmed.
As the crystals, the Ten Values of Existence, shattered, lost across the worlds. Only one out of every five piece remained with them. Passing down to their children. And to their children's children....
Nihynia watched all of it play out, as she ascended back to tell her sisters.
She believed Eight Alters was destined for ruin. Regardless of how many heroes would desparately try to salvage it.
Life however, wished to whitness this multiverse's lifespan play out fully, as the Balance required so.
To give them another chance if necessary. Reminding they all gave a piece from themselves for this very cause.
Thus their sister of Time measured a thousand years of time for the Eight Alters. Unless it was saved completely and the crystals were restored.
A thousand years of a lifespan.
A very short time for any universe it was.
An even shorter time to save multiple.
---
(Monday / June 10th / 989 AL)
"How many of them have agreed to work with us thus far?"
"Only five, sir."
"And we only have a week left to find the remaining half, you know?”
"It is a slim chance, however, it is definitely not impossible to accomplish."
It was a warm and sunny Tuesday morning, or afternoon for some residents of the world, while also being a refreshingly cool evening or night for some others. People across all continents of the planet were mostly going about their daily lives, no matter how boring or unusual it might have been for people who didn't know of them.
There was, however, a hidden group of people in two small, neighboring islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. They were in a continuous search for those who they believed to be the Legendary Carriers. These people consisted of the members of BSA, a major interdimensional organization, founded with this sole purpose centuries prior.
The high-ranking members were at a meeting in one of the largest rooms of the castle-sized headquarters building. The interior of the room had a strong resemblance to a laboratory of some sort, one which had a multitude of people who were ceaselessly working like worker-bees.
A tall, well-built man in his forties, with an air of authority and a black uniform with a white "BSA" symbol on his uniform stood in the middle of the room. He was checking on every other member's progress regarding their search.
He had occasional white streaks on his otherwise inky black hair and beard. His caramel brown eyes were observing the rest of his colleagues, as each of them reported to him on their duties.
"Mr. Winfield?" One of the members approached the man with slight confusion in his face. He was rather short compared to his leader. He had light brown hair, amber eyes, and a slightly chubby figure.
"What is the matter, Mr. Larisson?" The leader asked in a calm manner.
"There's a situation that prevents us from applying the One-For-One system. There's Ekermin twin sisters in the family we located.” the researcher man stated, uneasily running his fingers over the collar of his BSA uniform.
Rolling his caramel colored eyes, Mr. Winfield responded to him with a tired voice. "If one of them is a Legendary, we will have to accept both of them. Then we will separate them afterwards. However, if neither one is, then adding two more members to the supporting forces wouldn't hurt, now would it?"
Mr. Larrison nodded with an equally simple response before returning to his research. "Roger, sir."
Right after him, another man approached Mr. Winfield. He was carrying a bundle of research papers, with an enthusiastic expression on his face.
"Sir! We found two new Ekermins, both of whom are likely to be Legendaries!"
The leader's brown eyes lit up as his lips curled into a small smile.
"That's terrific!" He commented with some enthusiasm. He then calmed himself down to order the tall and lanky man before him. "Tell Mr. Wise of this situation so that he will be able to prepare properly, Mr. Corrill. In the meantime, I shall send a Research And Persuasion Team to each of the locations."
The man, who had chin-length, chestnut brown hair, pale green eyes, and deeply tanned skin, nodded with excitement.
"Yes sir!" He said in a rush, before exiting the room.
However, the man standing there had a thoughtful expression, which remained for awhile.
This makes eight of them, only two more to go. This project's going a lot more smoothly than I expected."

Aaahhhh! Haven’t seen any Redwall fan art on here in ages! One of my favorite heroines!
High Rhulian also known as Tiria Wildlough
Been a while since I did Redwall fanart. Revisiting my childhood. Also been a while since I put this much effort into a picture. Kinda wanted to go with a more exiting angle, but I really liked my original sketch. So I went with that.
