Lola bunny is kinda like Fred Jones. You can do whatever with their personalities as long as you keep a few things.

Cartoon Network Friday Spotlight: Tiny Toons Looniversity- "Save the Loo Bru"
Tumblr media
Confession time- I like Tiny Toons Looniversity better than Animaniacs 2020. I think going for a full-fledged reboot has done the show wonders, and I've been thinking of a bigger piece where I discuss how this reflects who the Looney Tunes are today among other things.
For now, let's just talk about a specific episode. If you're not familiar with this take on the Toons, Buster and Babs (relation this time) are freshmen at the prestigious Tiny Toons Looniversity, where they hope to learn how to be like their cartoon idols. Unfortunately in this episode, the Toon crew (which still features Plucky, Hamton and Sweetie Pie) discover that the school's iconic coffee shop, run by Taz and served by Dizzy Devil, is going to be closed down by young tycoon Montana Max. Perfect timing for Buster, who is learning about his need for an archrival.
The rest of the episode has Buster use some of his idol's (guess who?) tricks to get at Max, including an extended bit in drag, to get him to fail. And who doesn't love some classic Looney Tunes action?
It's funny stuff, a lot of fun. Will hopefully expand on this later.

Tiny Toons Looniversity
Once again, I'm reviewing a program that is a remake/reboot of a program I watched as a kid. This, of course, is based on Tiny Toon Adventures. Tiny Toon Adventures was a precursor of Animainacs as it was the first collaboration between Steven Spielberg and the WB animation department. It followed what was considered the "next generation" of WB animated characters, most of which were based on a toon from the classic era. All of the characters where teens, more or less.
It was a good show. It didn't have the wit of Animainiacs, in that Animainiacs was clearly written for all ages; whereas Tiny Toons I would say was for older children/younger teens. That being said, Tiny Toons actually has a banned episode. They decided to teach the kids the dangers of drinking, by having three characters basically become so addicted to drinking that they ruined their lives and then died after driving off a cliff. Now, at the end of the episode the three characters make it clear that it was all a skit and that they were fine...but, yeah, that got pulled. That being said, I haven't seen that episode since probably the '90s and I still remember the message behind it, so....
I'm not sure why they decided to do Tiny Toons Looniversity, perhaps it's because the Animainiacs new series was doing so well. However, the Animainiacs series was also a sequel to the original. This is clearly a reboot as none of the characters, bar Buster and Babs, know each other. Also, Buster and Babs Bunny (no relation) are now related. Twins, in fact. Which might lead to some confusion if kids watch both this and the original series, as they occasionally dated in the original series. But this show starts off as they go to Looniveristy and meet the other characters.
I'm going to be perfectly honest, I didn't make it past the first episode. When watching the show...I can see that the personalities of the characters are the similar to the originals. However, I have a feeling the writers were writing for an even younger audience then the original series and it kind of falls flat. I wouldn't say this a horrible reboot, but I have no inclination to watch the whole season.

What are your favorite tiny toons episodes
Let's see...
I really liked Dating, Acme Acres Style (I quote it regularly) and Fields of Honey. Also Tiny Toon Music Television. And I remember liking Sepulveda Boulevard, but that might just be because I'm not familiar with the movie it's spoofing.
And then for Looniversity, my favorites I've seen so far are Prank You Very Much and Tears of a Clone.

First Episodes Review> Tiny Toons Looniversity
BW Media Spotlight does a First Episodes Review of Tiny Toons Looniversity. Is it a bad show with all the changes?
In the 1990s Steven Spielberg decided to produce a show for Fox Kids, something he’s not usually known for. Tiny Toon Adventures didn’t make kid versions of the Looney Tunes. You’d have to wait for Baby Looney Tunes for that. Instead the usual suspects took a backseat as mentors to a whole new cast of kids at the high school Acme Looniversity. While being kid variants of the Looney Tunes they…

I've only watched the first episode but I'm really liking it so far! some animation leaves a little to wish for but honestly it has really aswesome and fluid scenes!!! love them qwq also I love that so FAR (first ep) they are including more school events (I kinda didn't like how little episode tiny toons had to do with actual school)

I'm glad to see more people who share the same opinion I have.
I couldn't stand the new Animaniacs. It leans too much on one political side, contains lame jokes that fail to make me laugh, and just isn't as fun as the original show. Tiny Toons Looniversity is a step up from that show.
While the animation is a bit slow, I actually laughed at some of the jokes, and it feels like the writers want to make something that could be enjoyed by anyone.
Tiny toons looniversity seems be a lot better than the Animaniacs 2020 series lol

Hey. Incase anyone has been wondering where I've been, you can blame Tumblr for not letting me upload my latest project directly to the site. Apparently the file size is too big... Despite the fact that I've uploaded much larger pieces to this site before. :/
In the meantime, I'm still posting to dA since it's letting me upload it there.
