is the fandom collectively pretending like buck wasn't trying to ask tommy out for a drink and was told no because tommy was busy with...eddie? like, i get it, all roads lead to buddie, it ain't over 'til it's over, etc. etc., but the show very much told us that buck was trying to get tommy's attention in the opening minutes and that eddie was an obstacle. tommy not realizing buck has a crush on him doesn't mean buck was secretly pining for eddie instead. (no hate to the spec, i'm specifically talking about people who genuinely believe tommy was brought here this season to make buck understand he's in love with eddie.)

Happy Friday! TINA! In a surprise guest appearance, Laurel Holloman returned to The L Word Generation Q reprising her role as Tina Kinard. It was revealed that the new series wanted to work around Laurel’s busy schedule, and we just might be seeing more of Tina in the future. Speaking of L Word Gen Q, it’s been renewed for Season 2! Ten episodes of delicious drama, coming right up. Hayley Kiyoko takes a trip back in time in new video, for “She.” In the new video, Hayley takes fan on a tour of the younger Hayley’s bedroom, which is hella gay and imagines a life where she’s on stage and living her life out loud. Cynthia Nixon will be directing lesbian play Last Summer at Bluefish Cove on Broadway. The forty year old play by Jane Chambers is getting the Broadway treatment by Nixon, and producers Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, and Lily Tomlin. Talk about a lesbian power move! New CBS series Tommy will star Edie Falco as a lesbian police chief. The trailer doesn’t reveal much about Abigail “Tommy” Thomas’ sexuality but it had been confirmed by Falco. In other good news, the show appears to have a very diverse writers’ room. i was 100% one of the many who did not want to read about how buck and taylor would make good fwb or that buck and lucy hooking up could/should have been part of buck's "regression" when i was more passionate about my ship, but people getting shamed for supporting a canon mlm pairing because there's still another one that may never reach that same status is...i don't get that at all. yes, buddie is the preferred option for most of the fandom, but is everyone supposed to be fucking miserable for the next however many years waiting around to see whether the show finally pulls the trigger? and i'm not even particularly attached to buck/tommy (enjoying the conversation, mostly), but what is solely supporting buddie gonna get anyone in this scenario? brownie points?

Alright, give me all your theories on Tommy and Buck please.

My theories are that: > Tommy isn't coming back to be a one episode character, nor is he there for the sole purpose of helping with the cruise disaster (if at all). Tim is testing how he fits with the "new" 118 (vs. what it was when Tommy left) > Buck will invent conflict between himself and Tommy because Tommy has history with Hen and Chim and Bobby (something @sunflowerdigs said in the replies of a post to remind me) and he will also find common ground with Eddie. Buck is going to feel insecure about his place. Especially when it comes to Eddie. > tensions culminate (on the bball court?) and Eddie figures out what's up, tells Tommy (off screen? idk) > Tommy feels bad, apologizes to Buck one-on-one. Yay. They like each other now. In summary: Buck gets defensive -> picks a fight -> realizes he was projecting -> conflict resolved by the end of the episode It's Buddie 2.0.

He’s just like “Everyone knows how you people feel about Buddie, but Buck and Tommy is happening right now, sorry.”

i cant people really think that this arc with tommy will last only through 7.06, idk thoughts???

I think people are making assumptions based on the lack of info surrounding 7x07 and beyond as well as Tim calling it a "first fling", but Tim also said "What that might amount to, only time can tell" and that this relationship is supposed to be "tender and positive". Calling it quits after two episodes is not sending a very positive message, sorry, y'all. (There's also the issue of people deciding Tommy was reintroduced to have canon Buddie #confirmed as we head into season 8, and a break up before the season ends certainly helps that, but Ryan and Oliver have both done enough, IMO, to explain that it's not going in that direction right now. All I do is deliver the message.)

Unsure if you saw Lou got asked about the wedding and I think it kinda goes hand in hand with what you said.

“With Tommy there’s a dramatic entrance, he’s not exactly on time but he’s exactly where he’s suppose to be”

And he also mentions how “Tommy’s purpose is to save lives and fight fires and he’s on active firefighter so he’s still on call”.

do you think there's a chance tommy/lou could actually stick around for a bit (i read somewhere that they're still writing 8-10)? most people seem to assume he'll be done after a couple episodes based on tim's comments, but i took them as more noncommittal than set in stone. i didn't expect to get this attached to tommy this fast, but here we are. 😭

I hear you, nonnie. Buck/Tommy is my happy place rn because I don’t have to do mental gymnastics to figure out “what it all means” 😌

So, to recap, the first thing Tim said was after 7x03:

“He’s going to be around for a little bit,” Minear says. “He’s not going to be a member of the 118 again, but he is going to be involved in some stories.”

Now, for some reason people…jumbled the quote and said Tommy would only be in some episodes, but a little bit could easily refer to the rest of the season (with maybe an episode or two off to focus on Bobby’s next arc or something else)

The second thing Tim said came after 7x04:

“It really is a first fling for Buck right now. What that might amount to, only time can tell. But what I’m interested in is not something that’s fraught. I’m interested in something that’s tender and positive.”

As expected, the “first fling” part of the quote stands out as something not serious, but in the very next breath, Tim says it could always develop into something more long term with time (because an arc like this is going to be largely dependent on audience reception).

IMO, everyone involved is approaching the story line as temporary for the simple fact that it’s too soon to tell which direction the show is going in next season. But if the Bi Buck arc resonates with enough of the audience, and that other option is still off the table? Why bring in another LI sometime next season when you already have one right there?

I'm sorry to everyone against the Buck/Tommy of it all, but this looks so fucking funny. Not only does Buck not understand where the "jealousy" is coming from at first, but with Buck having to come out to Eddie sometime later, Eddie isn't gonna get it, either??? Tommy has to make a move with Buck because he's the only one who knows how to use his words asdfghjkl; And he's gonna kiss Buck because he knows Buck will kiss back. 😱
